Rumour Has It / Pirate Captured!
« on: June 21, 2012, 07:01:13 am »
In Lor, there is talk about the infamous pirate Captain Pike The Menace being brought in by a group of Rofireinites and adventurers.  It's said that Captain Pike raided over forty vessels, usually those having been shipping goods to lands in need of supplies due to the famine.  With testimonies given of Pike's treachery, it is expected that the man will hang for his crimes.

Quests Ideas and Discussion / Layo Life
« on: May 24, 2012, 01:02:42 pm »
Another experiment worthy of a go as the lower numbers permit it I think.

 A RL monthly task.

In week before a new month every player may submit a one short paragraph maximum plan for ONE pc for the next RL month (game year) and is expected to rp that as they go along.

The taskmaster at GM control sifts these ideas, rolls some dice (always the fun part) and feeds one paragraph results if he sees fit. He draws inspiration from the ideas to..

allocate games (and these need not be what player thought example below)
put news items and rumours in game
 put items on server

eg Colin the Corathite Cleric opts to convince his flock to gather arms and spend the trues he gives them to go over and burn down Loserville.

Taskmaster gm rolls a 1, and decides his plan goes badly...he releases some rumour accordingly and asks a gm to run a game involving foiling such a plan or perhaps in the aftermath of the failed attempt he runs a trial/hunt whatever suits 'tipping a hat to the original player idea -and thereby bringing player RP to life.

eg 2, Robin the ranger wants to hunt for the rare elk. Gm reports back he finds a trail in the wild wasteland....(then pops an elk on server in game in this area) for possible finding.

eg 3. Tommy the Toranite wants to form a troop to go help patrol Hilm. GM replies allowing player to rp this out accordingly but GM opts that he has no in game or quest follow up for it at this time.

Any Quests run would not be set for an individual - but merely run around an idea in some fashion that the player had mooted. ie it should not be essential they are there.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Seen around Belinara...
« on: May 24, 2012, 01:02:30 pm »
After the retreat of the Cult's troops back in Kuhl, Steel practically disappeared from Belinara. Lately, however, he has been spotted more and more often around the Hilm Protectorate and Nesar. His return to Belinara coincides with further unrest within Hilm. They say that blood follows the demon of Leringard, but very few have actually seen the masked devil draw his sword- at least, few that are still living.

One way or the other, he's returned to Belinara for a reason...

Just for Fun / Happy Australia Day!!!
« on: January 26, 2012, 12:00:03 am »
YOU KNOW YOU'RE AUSTRALIAN IF:
 * You believe that stubbies can be either drunk or worn.
 * You're liable to burst out laughing whenever you hear of Americans "rooting" for something.
 * You pronounce Melbourne as 'Mel-bin'.
 * You believe the 'L' in the word 'Australia' is optional.
 * You can translate: 'Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas.'
 * You believe it makes perfect sense for a nation to decorate its highways with large fibreglass bananas, prawns and sheep.
 * You think 'Woolloomooloo' is a perfectly reasonable name for a place.
 * You're secretly proud of our killer wildlife.
 * You believe it makes sense for a country to have a $1 coin that's twice as big as its $2 coin.
 * You understand that 'Wagga Wagga' can be abbreviated to 'Wagga' but 'Woy Woy' can't be called 'Woy'.
 * You believe that cooked-down axle grease makes a good breakfast spread. You've also squeezed it through Vita Wheats to make little Vegemite worms.
 * You believe all famous Kiwis are actually Australian, until they stuff up, at which point they again become Kiwis.
 * Beetroot with your Hamburger... Of course.
 * You know that certain words must, by law, be shouted out during any rendition of the Angels' song 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' And "Living next door to Alice".
 * You believe that the confectionery known as the Wagon Wheel has become smaller with every passing year.
 * You believe that the more you shorten someone's name the more you like them.
 * Whatever your linguistic skills, you find yourself able to order takeaway fluently in every Asian language.
 * You understand that 'excuse me' can sound rude, While 'scuse me' is always polite.
 * You know what it's like to swallow a fly, on occasion via your nose.
 * You know it's not summer until the steering wheel is too hot to handle and a seat belt buckle becomes a pretty good branding iron.
 * Your biggest family argument over the summer concerned the rules for beach cricket.
 * You shake your head in horror when companies try to market what they call 'Anzac cookies'.
 * You still think of Kylie as 'that girl off Neighbours'.
 * When working on a bar, you understand male customers will feel the need to offer an excuse whenever they order low-alcohol beer.
 * You know how to abbreviate every word, all of which usually end in -o: arvo, combo, garbo, kero, metho, milko, muso, rego, servo, smoko, speedo, righto, goodo etc.
 * You know that there is a universal place called "woop woop" located in the middle of nowhere...no matter where you actually are.
 * You know that none of us actually drink Fosters beer, because it tastes like . But we let the world think we do. Because we can.
 * You have, at some time in your life, slept with Aeroguard on in the summer. Maybe even as perfume.
 * You've only ever used the words - tops, ripper, sick, mad, rad, sweet - to mean good. And then you place 'bloody' in front of it when you REALLY mean it.
 * You know that the barbecue is a political arena; the person holding the tongs is always the boss and usually a man. And the women make the Salad.
 * You say 'no worries' quite often, whether you realise it or not.
 * You understand what no wucking furries means.
 * You've drank your tea/coffee/milo through a Tim Tam.
 * You own a Bond's chesty. In several different colours.
 * You know that roo meat tastes pretty good, But not as good as barra. Or a meat pie.
 * You know that some people pronounce Australia like "Straya" and that's ok.
 * And you will forward this list to other Australians, here and overseas, realising that only they will understand!!!
Have a ripper Australia Day everyone :)

Questions and Answers from the plot catch ups from Session 1:
• Q: Was Molvaren last seen     retreating back to Kuhl?

A: He was last seen in Stormcry Hollows     by the group that went after the Broken One. There is no     intelligence to suggest he is anywhere else.
  • Q: Siphe and his forces have cut a     new “kingdom” for himself in the ruins of Fort of Last Hope with     his Big Red Friend (Ractrafieroz, and he's actually kind of rusty colored)?
A: Siphe refers to it as a “sovereign     principality” and acknowledges it is still within Hilm. He a good     neighbor but does not necessarily follow Hilm Castle's orders.
  • Q: Did the forces of the Corath     sink back into Nesar? (Are they still on the boarders?)

A: These forces seem to have gone back     to doing whatever it is they were doing before.... Or something.     They are definitely not being seen on the boarders of Nesar.
  • Q: Nesar's troops have returned to      barracks?

A: Everyone has gone home, there are     no occupying forces. Regular stations manned as they would have     otherwise been throughout the country (so far as everyone knows).
  • Q: Have Rael's forces left Sedara?

A: The presence of Rael's forces are     less troops and more support personnel, given the drastic damages     done there. There are appropriate military guard for Rael's     continued people presence within the country.
  • Q: Sedara is rebuilding Audria,     then?

A:  Indeed. That is going to be a     long, long road for them.
  • Q: Fisterion didn't actually     deploy any forces of the Destroyer during the Kuhl/Hilm conflict,     yes?

A: Fisterion protected his interests,     but he didn't really do much to protect anyone else's. Since his     offer of aid was rejected, he really kept to his own business.
  • Q: Whatever happened to Queen     Alise Langovale?

A:  Queen Alise Langovale (the     desposed ruler of Kuhl) is alive and well and presently a guest of     Queen Mouring's  in Trelania.
  • Q: Was the bloodpool that was used     to make the dragons-like people (special troops of Molvaren's Kuhl)     destroyed?

A: That  is the word that came from     those that survived the expedition. There is a big caved in section     of ground where the Hollows used to be.
  • Q: Is Hilm Castle recovering from     the attacks of the last battle?

A: Hilm is in the process of     repair and recovery.
  • Q: Are most of the allied forces     withdrawn from Hilm Castle and in general?

A: In general, there     are strategic withdrawals happening throughout the allied forces.
  • Q: Are the allied forces on call     'just  in case'?

A: Support is lent where support is needed, but     generally a  withdrawal and no apparent intentions for permanent     stationing.
  • Q: The portal between Hilm Castle     and Blackford Castle is still working for diplomatic use?

A:     Yes.
  • Q: What was the cause of the     plague in Hlint?

A: The Cult (further than that is not known).     The curing though, managed through the Aeridites and Elohanna's name     is typically spoken in the same breath. (As an aside, the serial     murderer is still at large).
  • Q: The plague-affected and     controlled dragons. What is known of what has become of them, and     are they still "working" for Siphe's version of Kuhl?

A:     There was an active effort by certain allied forces to cure/dispose     of afflicted dragons. Not many were floating free of Kuhl's forces.     What success they are having is not common knowledge.
  • Q: Is it known if Siphe is using     the affected dragons in his military?

A: Siphe's forces are     reportedly only what forces he had with him at the time, further     details are not commonly known though there are a few PCs with extra     details.
  • Q: Is it known if Siphe is using     Myr'drachs in his military?

A: While it is known he arrived with     some of these in his forces, the current status is unknown.
  • Q: Have there been any extended     effects from the big hole in the ground?

A: In the chaos that     immediately followed the Broken One's destruction, druidic forces     within Kuhl were able to examine it and determine it is, at least     near the surface, free of any dangerous taint or corruption. They     could get this word out through druidic channels.
  • Q: Have there been any side     effects from those affected with the Cult poison-plague-disease, and     the subsequent cure?

A: With regards to Hlintites, there does not     seem to be an overt affect, though  every little thing that goes     badly for a person who was once affected-but-survived is blamed on     the fact that Those Cultists messed with Their Town.
  • Q: What is the state of Nesar     post-war?

A: Nesar is -largely- business as usual, to the general     observer.
  • Q: How much have dragon sightings     increased since the Cult has been contained? Is it still rare, or     are they being seen more increasingly?

A: There are the     sightings/attacks related to the on-hold quest thing of Rowana's and     there's those attacks more recent that were brought up (Dezza's     postings in the Rumors section) earlier and which are not really     related to the Dragon Storm plot. However, it stands to reason that     with the apparent removal of the threat of being tainted by the     Cult, dragons don't particularly have a reason to hide away at the     moment. Other than those two cases I mentioned, there really aren't     any more dragon sightings, dragon attacks or whatever. Maybe someone     sees one in the sky now and then. Maybe not. Maybe it's a drake or a     large bird or...too much to drink.

Regarding Prologue of     the Dragon Storm campaign (World Leader Special series that is     -currently- on hold)

  • Q: About the famines - are these     largely the result of allied troops pulling able bodies and fields     falling fallow, or are there other reasons that are known?

A:     Post-war famines are not a direct result of the war on the large     scale. That is a result of other happenings some months down the     line. There are PCs who have information about that IG, but that is     somewhat on hold. However,  Hilm (kingdom wide) and Sedara (in     certain localities) are facing food insecurities.

Information     and nods in general:
  • Q: What is the 'faction system'?

A: The faction system basically means     we're dividing up the world into factions based on each GM's     interest and whatnot. Some of them are plot, some are not. They're     independent though, so we (the plot team) will be reacting to them     just as you, they will react to us and to your actions, etc. That's     not to say that every corner of the world will be divided up and     assigned at the get-go, but the idea is to have "someone"     taking ownership of locales or individuals or whatever. Further     information about this will be coming (soon but no exact date offered).
  • Q: Will the faction system be     implemented for the next bit of plot?

A: The next phase of things are     definitely going to use the faction system and that is part of why     we're doing the Q&A for folks. Setup leading into that aspect.
  • Description of Kuhl to the common     observer:

It's worth stating that what's happening within the     borders of Kuhl is currently an unknown.  As yet, no one has     infiltrated Kuhl since the end of the war... or at least... not done     so, lived and returned to tell his/her tale to every town crier on     the planet.
The borders are locked down tight. This was true     before the end of the war, but now it's even moreso. Nothing seems     to come in or out. The latter is accepted as a truth. The former is     assumed from the latter, though it's equally likely that what goes     in may simply not come out. This of course occurred once the Cult     forces retreated fully. ***IMPORTANT*** Do not enter the physical     area of Kuhl without the accompaniment of a GM. If you have done so     following the end of the war, treat it as an OOC experience and do     not speak of it as an actual IC Happening.
  • This was stated elsewhere (we     think!), but time is a little wonky with this plot, so what     calculates out to years may not really be. There'll be some     accounting at work at some point, but when we start back up, it'll     be a matter of months rather than several years since the end of the     war.

//This is an RP series aimed for low-level shady character types but I encourage everyone to join the fun. Feel free to RP in-game, investigate, and brainstorm but much of the series will occur on the forums. There will be no quest times, if there is a need to go in-game, whatever it is that's needed will remain in-game for as long as the server is online.

The goal here is to provide interesting development and interaction between characters that would not normally go together. I implore you to not automatically look at this as another one of Ni'haer's shady schemes (actually it is), but rather as an opportunity for your characters to grow. Imagine the fun that can be had with this experiment. Good luck to you all!

Rumour Has It / Fort Vehl: Local Lord Murdered!
« on: September 29, 2011, 03:35:33 am »
In what appears to be a bungled burglary, Lord Rastimaud and several of his house servants were found murdered in the Rastimaud estate. The Merchant Guard were able to track the culprit down to a nearby crafting hall. In the fierce fight that ensued, several of Vehl's finest paid with their lives. A dwarven Knight of the Wyrm, assisting the guard, was also overcome in the fighting. The murderer, one Jartok of Krashin, recently released from prison, was cut down.

Just for Fun / The Witcher 2 - Something lots of you may be interested in
« on: September 25, 2011, 09:26:48 am »
Just making a quick post about this, I played the game through once about 4 or 5 months ago, and being honest, it's one of the best single player RPGs i've played to date.

Very detailed, very diverse, and a unique combat system that works very well, my chapter 2 was completely different to my friends, and neither of us got to eachothers areas we ended up in.

Never played the first one, but might have to.

Heres a link to a trailer that sums up the basic plot line.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Honor, Conquest and Silent Suffering....
« on: August 05, 2011, 04:32:37 am »
In war torn regions it is always a bright spot when heroes  are celebrated and the world is given a chance to breath easy and think the best of some. This was of course no less true in war torn Belinara despite dynamically opposed powers vieing for control of the land, and indeed, themselves. On a bitterly cold day in Hilm, in the outer courtyard of the castle bearing the same name, hundreds upon hundreds gathered together to do just that: Think the best of some.

Dressed in full regalia, Lord Alexandar stood full honors for a collection of people who, at first glance, seemed nothing but  a rag-tag bunch of riffraff. Frankly, in amongst the near blinding crowd of plated soldiers and brightly dressed people of the land, the honorees stood out more for their oddness than heroic appearance. It didn't matter, not to them, nor to those who celebrated them. It was too easy to remember the battles here, too easy  to remember all they had done for the people of Hilm and indeed, the world.

Called forth each in turn: Mysterious G'ork, Stout Kromlek Stormaxe and Gunder Harbist, and the Rough Looking Vrebel were presented with the Honorary Captain in Hilm Protectorate. Each was regaled with excerpts of battles their peers recalled on the fateful day the Cult was turned back from Hilm Castle. Standing proud (either feigned or real), shouts of many a cheerful reward (usually in the form of alcohol) is offered from their fellows.

Jillseponie Kendall, the lithe elf of unknown years, is honored as Scout Warden of Hilm Protectorate. Well meaning jeers are sent through the crowd, calling for the dwarf hidden in her pouches to do her heavy hitting. In truth, this is probably the only place such things would be said for there were too many targets for the formidable woman to hit before she was taken down in retaliation. Instead she only  quirked a sharp brow in the general direction before  cheers went up on her behalf.

Each is penned in true military style and greeted with the customary call, the motto of Hilm. “Protect, Defend, Endure, Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!” Repeated throughout the courtyard in a booming chant, that seems as if it should rattle the rubble and crenelations of the castle walls. The sharp of ear and familiar to the regions of Belinara would catch the dialects and other languages adding to the call of  the victorious.

At the end of the ceremony, a touching eulogy is read by members of the standing army who witnessed the fall of Chaynce Baldu'muur. His final hours are recounted to the soldiers, describing him as an honorable man with a sharp  tongue and firm resolve. It was remembered that his last breath was taken in the arms of his lady, the proud Lady Daniella Stormhaven. It was remembered that he never flinched and asked little.

Also remembered was Sallaron Tempest. Early when the world barely cared about the domination of  Kuhl's boarders Sallaron began touching on the powers that  would eventually matter in the final hours. Wherever  he lay, wherever his family be, they are thought of with honored blessings from a crowed of  battle hardened, thankful, soldiers.

 ------------

The brews flowed in Hilm, Lord Alexandar tapping some of the barrels long reserved for celebrations such as this. While he partook little he encouraged those o f h is staff to celebrate and be merry. The weathered and weary look on his square face said what did not need saying on a day such as this. That there are too few of them in these times was a  thought all knew and few spoke so as not  to ruin the mood of their peers.

Deep within a pack of Toranites, Azk'a is called on to recount many a tale of battling those scaley green  (censored). There is more than celebration in the eyes of these men as they listen to Azk'a detail the weaknesses the Cult's toughest and fearsome soldiers. Honor and not little awe reflected in their faces.

Another elf, this a wild thing in contrast to Jillesponie's immaculate presence, threw back brews with the best of the dwarves and humans, able to drink no few under the table. “And let me tell you! Those boarders thick with them.  Still, with the right kind of paper,” he paused and rubbed to coins in between his thumb and forefinger to indicate the kind of 'paper'  he meant, “You could get in past 'em. That was just the outer rims though. Inside... Inside deep it was another matter and thank the  gods for my willing conspirators...” He shook  his head and continued on to tell about some of the braver merchants willing to stick their necks out on his behalf to bring back that crucial information outside the boarders...

 ----------------------------------------------

Somewhere deep within Kuhl on that same day posters of yet another elf were being put up. Fair faced and slight, Elohanna's likeness was posted on Kuhl message boards the country over. Over her head the letters marked the leader's wrath, the damnation of the frail creature. Fifty  thousand true, a sum enough to feed the largest of families for generations, it said. Fifty thousand true for her lifeless body at the feet of the Cult's masters.... Sharp eyes memorized  her features, taking in all they could and hating her.

In the back rooms where those not blinded by the Cult's message, her name is breathed with honor. She, the elvish woman who  defeated the taint within her body... The embodiment that the Cult could be defeated....

 ----------------------------------------

Sitting on rock faced cliffs, like so  many cliché bitter gulls, a small group of Stormbringers shared their exploits from Audria's battle. Each built upon the one before, talking up the battle with glee... A name is spoken among them with inflections of honor though he could be a threat just as easily. Hardragh. They would remember him and watch his progress....

 ---------------------------------------------

In the weeks following the battle of Hilm Castle, the diet returned to her place in Lor. It was the place she should be, and the city shuddered and flustered like an irritated bird just before settling as the tall blond woman walked through the streets. Just beside her, the dark elf, companion strode easily enough. None would ever say it to her face, but behind her they called her the Diet's shadow, dark and dangerous in all the ways a shadow is deceitful and poisonous. But not everyone is blinded by the justifiable distrust. Some know her for all she sacrificed, some know her for her pure strength of character and power.

Too they know the true depth of Diet Angela's power, that she was the protagonist in their side of the story. Her deeds in the war, despite Lor's small  part in it, were murmured in even the dark places of the city and the world beyond it's  docks. The two women would be remembered for their parts as well. For now the wise and gullible alike scattered out of their path like settling feathers.....

General Discussion / OH boy... *shakes his fists at Bioware*
« on: August 03, 2011, 02:38:56 am »
So installed a new HDD today and wanted to make a clean instal of the game on it. Everything is fine until I need to make the update of the game.. and it tells me to get the critical rebuild. I copy the link into my browser, and I ger redirected to the new bioware forum.. no links what so ever to download the critical rebuild.

So.. since Bioware has obviously stopped it's support of the game (there's no download section for the game on their new ea/bioware website that I could find.) Here's the link to the critical rebuilt 1.69 I found on the vault.

Note: If you're using the diamond english version of the game under windows, you'll need this update NWNEnglish1.69HotUUpdate.exe

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Message from Fort of Last Hope
« on: July 15, 2011, 08:48:00 pm »
A message is briefly delivered from Daniella Stormhaven to Lord Alexander via the cell stones.  She briefly informs him of the following points:

  • General Siphe wishes to be formally acknowledged by the Hilm Protectorate and the other nations of Belinara as the new steward of the Fort of Last Hope and the surrounding lands that were previously under its jurisdiction.
  • He has said that should his stewardship be acknowledged he will lead his forces with ours to retake Briardusk.
  • He has made a deal with Ractrafiorez that he would train the dragon's soldiers, and in return, Ractrafiorez is protecting the Fort from Molvaren's forces.

Later on, another message is sent after the stone could be charged again.

  • General Siphe, in return for presenting his request for legitimacy has offered 5 Siphe Garra members to go with the Allied troops in order to offer possible tactics of the enemy within Briardusk.  A warning was also given by General Siphe that the Drach Ori have something big planned at Briardusk and to approach with caution.
  • Siphe understands only a little of what the Fort of Last Hope's purpose is, but that she believes he will accept its duty should he be accepted as steward.
  • She also notifies that the attack of the Toranite unit on the Siphe Garra were doing so under orders that came from the office of Commander Stargazer.  She informs that only one of the unit remained alive from their attack, and she is in custody as a prisoner at this time.  She states that as soon as she has more information she will send word.

A couple days later again:

  • Daniella notifies them that the traitorous order supposedly came from a Field Commander that had remained in Hilm, and asks for a full investigation to take place.  He went against the orders of his superior officers, against the will of Toran, and against the rules of warfare in terms of truce.  His actions caused the deaths of his comrades as well as put a tentative alliance in jeopardy.

General Discussion / Hi bye from an old player
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:19:25 am »
Hello everyone.

Here is just a small hi bye from one of the old dwarven players. Some might remember me as the dwarf Varka Cleaveson.

I thought I might drop a few lines to Layo as I did to Harlas.

Naaaayy. Since I stopped I always kept around though. Reading about what is going on in general but also keeping an eye on layos dwarven players. It has been and it is still fun seeing how Layo develops. I guess some of the other old players do the same thing. (If so just give a thumps up guys).

So, how is everyone doing in there? I can see that there is a few new WL around and that the Torans are starting a new group (every good initiative). Are there other new initiative like that? Did some make a nice exotic group like mix of orcs, deep dwarves and dark elves? And where are the treehuggers?

What about the dwarves! How does it look there? I follow roughly the submissions and character developments.

That is all for now. Take care in there and have fun! :)

Layonara Server / Now Taking Gamemaster Applications!!
« on: June 10, 2011, 03:19:01 am »
Hello Layonara Community!

It has come around to that time again, where we look around for interested individuals to help grow the Layonaran experience for the community as a whole. If you are interested in giving back to the community that has provided you with countless hours of entertainment, this is one way to make that happen! Below are listed the qualifications, the required duties and the list of questions that we'll need answered so that we can evaluate if you are a good match for the world. Please take some time to consider all of these if you are interested in becoming a Gamemaster for Layonara.

Quote
Gamemaster Qualifications:

You qualify for GM application if you meet the following:

• If you have been a community member in good standing for at least four (4) months
• If you can work well on a team but can also take independent initiative
• If you act responsibly both individually and within teams
• If you understand both the rules and the spirit of the server
• If you enforce the spirit and rules of the server when necessary
• If you communicate well in text in an online environment.
• If you can commit to perform GM Duties as either a part time or full time GM
Quote
Gamemaster Duties:

You will need to be able to commit to ALL the following:
  •   Commit to the Author-Publisher Agreement. This means the rights to what you write, run as a quest or otherwise provide in your time as GM belongs to Layonara. You will be required to sign off on this and supply the document to Layonara. This is required to protect Layonara Studios and all of our community members.
  • Run impromptus, CDQs and quests, reward RP, assist players in game, or otherwise be active in game with your GM avatar (Part time: 1 hour/week ; Full time: 2 hours/week)
  •   Properly research and include world lore for events that require it. This can require that certain kinds of quests be written up and approved by head team members (such as EdtheKet and Leanthar) prior to running them.
  •   Communicate any long term absences from the world to the team, ahead of time if possible. “Long term absences” is defined as more than two weeks consecutive where you will not be able to reached for any reason. (We certainly understand that emergencies happen and for our enlisted members, you don't always get that opportunity. In case of the latter, please make us aware in your application that this is a possibility.)
  •  Write up quests after they are completed with detailed information for tracking.
  • Check the forums regularly for GM specific content. (Part time: at least 2 times/week ; Full time: at least 5 times/week)
  •  Spend at least 2 hours per month working to help the team and community on IRC or forums (e.g. Character approvals, disputes and grievances, answering questions, moderating forums or IRC, providing other assistance to GMs or Players).
  • Participate in GM team discussions (these are largely forum based). Examples include discussion of changes to policy, weighing in on World Leader eligibility, and communicating various issues to the staff as a whole.
  • Keep appropriate records of character profiling, player interactions, etc.
  • Communicate with individual players who may need help understanding the rules or spirit of the server.
Application Questions
(please answer in a response in this thread)
1. How long have you been a member of Layonara?  (The minimum is four (4) months of active time in the community.)

2. Are you applying as a part time or full time quest GM?

3. Why do you want to be a GM team member in Layonara?

4. Please describe any GM experience, including any NWN GMing experience. GMing experience, digitally or PnP style is not a prerequisite for a GM position!

5. Please read carefully through the GM team duties and qualifications, if you have not already. This community has always supported the ethic of 'real life comes first' but we will need to know, realistically, if your real life can support your interest and commitment to the world. Please describe, either Layonaran or real life, responsibilities that may conflict with your Gamemaster commitments. Membership to other teams such as LORE or Character Approvals are examples of Layonaran commitments.

6. Please submit an example quest in a PM (addressed to EdtheKet, Rowana and Dorganath). Your quest should be a brief outline of the set up and expected important events during your quest. Please include a few foreseeable side paths players might take and your intentions for working with players on those initiatives. This should be a quest you could run if you are accepted as a GM, though it is by no means required. Your sample quest summary should be between 300 and 500 words in length. Summaries less than 300 or more than 500 words will not be considered and you will be asked to submit again with the proper word length. Applicants without a quest submitted to the Team by the deadline will not be considered during this pass.

The applications will close on June 30th, 2011, Midnight Eastern Daylight Time. All qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview by July 5th, 2011. Interviews will take place either in game or via IRC. Interviews must be final by July 20th, 2011, in order to offer invites to new GMs in a timely manner.

We look forward to hearing from you all!

 The GM Team
