Fixed Bugs / It happens when I try to rest
« on: July 14, 2014, 08:34:18 am »

It happens when I try to rest before the rest timer has elapsed(rest timer hits zero) while I am still in shapechanged form. The rest becomes automatically canceled and the text window tells me there is X minutes until I can rest.

The shapechange form's stats remain the same, the bonuses/stats you get from the form itself. But the rings etc that have been added in the layo merge do not give their bonuses. Default merge seem to be working, as in shield/armor/helm(not fully tested).

Example:

I have diamond wisdom jewelry, gives total +6 wisdom. Base wisdom in shapechanged form is 20. I change into bear form. I now have 26 in wisdom. I hit rest button, but I need to wait 4 more minutes until I can rest. Wisdom is now 20 and I am still in bear form.

I am using Chrome.

I tried to edit my post instead of double posting. But the edit button just returned "Page not found".

edit:  Edit works now. And so does my old password.

What is the level range on the two events?

Layonara staff have modified the merging of items.

Also, any(I think I have checked them all) shape gets magic/bonus properties from shield, mainweapon, armor and helmet on default nwn settings. Going by my own experience. Highest ac bonus is used for an AC deflection modifier. The other things mentioned in previous post  I have not verified.

(parasol can only be used in main hand, I was not aware of that when I bought it)

2x8GB is potentially faster when the need for RAM is less than 4GB, because of the dual channel. 1x8GB is more upgrade friendly.

What I meant was 2x4GB is potentially faster.

What do you get without the Killer thingy? Because the networking I get on default for my HP Pavilion G6 2131so is plenty good.

Also, go for the cheapest quad core. Not good for heavy encoding or compiling. But that is what you have a workstation for. Or at least a desktop.

For gaming upgrading from a generic quadcore is not going to give much of a perfomance boost. There are a few games with a ton of projectile calculations that benefit from CPU power and probably some other ones too, but most games rely heavily on the graphics card and not so much on the CPU.

General Discussion / Re: Antivirus etc
« on: September 13, 2012, 01:30:40 pm »
Firewall has been enough for me. I have windows defender on windows 7 computers though. Not sure what it does. I had windows XP without antivirus for 8 years or so.
Cygate's firewall is resource friendly. When I do not use that one I use Comodo's firewall. Both have free versions. Comodo also has a free antivirus and an internet security suit which combines the antivirus with the firewall.

I cannot say which antivirus is best since I have never had any problems. But a couple of years ago NOD32 was best among the antivirus software. Or so I was told by people I rely on. If it runs heavy now I would not use it myself.

Yeah, 8GB of RAM is plenty. Unless you have something you know is really RAM intensive, then getting 8GB is the way to go. I would have gone with a single 1x8GB RAM stick. 2x8GB is potentially faster when the need for RAM is less than 4GB, because of the dual channel. 1x8GB is more upgrade friendly.

i5-3570K is a desktop CPU though. A laptop cannot handle the power consumption.

Okay, I am not from around your place but I have to say it looks pretty expensive. And scandinavia is generally more expensive than anywhere else.

For starters where are you buying? For the ram I would just buy minimum. Chuck it. Then go to random decent place and buy 2x8GB corsairs. If you are american then newegg is a good place to start, or so I hear. Here is the first hit I got concerning RAM, did not look for cheapest store or anything.
Amazon.com: Corsair 8 GB Module (1x8GB) DDR3 1333MHz PC3 10666 204-Pin Unbuffered C9 Laptop Memory CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9: Computers & Accessories
Also, 500GB harddrive should be fine for you. But going with only the SSD is not very future proofed. Again, you should have 40GB for windows 7. It will probably eat away 25GB right away.

Did you do any research on the thermal compound? If not, skip it. Few pastes are better than ~4 degrees celsius cooler than vanilla paste.
Last I checked the best thermal compounds were in the $10-$15 USD price range. $35 just seems way too overpriced.

I oxed all I had once already and the drops did not change. Could it be something on my side that I have not updated?

If I was buying a gaming laptop I would buy one with a good ivy bridge i7 and no graphics card. Then you buy an external graphics card that you can hook up to the laptop when you are at home. With a "real" graphics card(go Nvidia) the gaming performance will be significantly increased and the laptop will have a lot less internal heat factors to deal with in addition to being lighter in weight.

RAM is cheap so do not worry about it if a laptop which otherwise have great hardware for the price. 8GB is plenty. Do not get less than 4GB. Also, consider saving the Operation System key then formatting the harddrive to get rid of all the junkware that comes preinstalled. With the people I have spoken with it has always given a performance boost, more important on lowend laptops though.

I am still delaying the SSD purchase because the speed bump is not that important, pretty much only improves load times. Does not affect what games/apps you can play/run. A game like Team Fotress 2 for instance takes up 10 GB of space on your harddrive. You should have 40 GB of space for your  Windows 7 OS partition. I know 20GB is too little. If the choice is between 1 SSD and 1 harddrive, definitly go with 1 harddrive.

Also, avoid the 3820QM. I know the desktop version is overpriced. The only good thing in comparison is that 3820 is on socket 2011 which gives quad channel for RAM on desktops.  Socket 1155 has dual channel.  Not sure how that works on the laptop motherboards.

Dell has really bad support in scandinavia. A lot of angry dell consumers here.

About the work vs private software layout. Create a work login and a home login and when you install games only install them on the home login.

I am not sure what you mean with dual drives. There are different setups. The older ones are RAID setups. One type of raid is when you run two harddrives or 2 SSDs in parallell. Almost twice the speed but poor reliability. A different raid for dual drives is mirroring. One is used for backup. Then there are the SSD/harddrive combos where the controller card decides what data is going to be put on what drive. The data that is being read a lot is supposedly put on the SSD and data that is often deleted or rarely used is put on the harddrive.  Or another setup could simply be an SSD and and a harddrive working separately, which I prefer.

What you said is true for the default wild shape. But on some servers they mod it and  layonara is one such place. My other boots give elemental resist in shifted forms.

I will try to remember to take a screen shot. This is not much of a problem and would not matter much if leaved as is. I really thought my word on it happening several times would be enough.

Add cure serious potions to that list.

Not a complete waste of game space. More so than before though. Before the home portal system became free. Because I do not think hickory would be available on that server if that one is removed.

I tested the +1 kits and the light potions, they seem to work like the new versions. So I guess the only issue is that they do not stack with the current items.

For reference, presently XP starts to be reduced when a player's level differs from the average party level by more than 4 levels. By the time the difference hits 12 levels from the average, XP is reduced to the minimum (which is the creature CR)

It was not a factor before. But now when I am aware of it, it is a factor. Sure, if the characters are present and we are talking about an outing invites will be extended. But now it is less likely I will go out of my way inviting people OOCly. The xp reason is a small factor. Generally I do not find it fun with imbalanced groups. Though nowadays any group is more fun than the alternative, since the alternative is going solo.

I would also like for the xp rewards to be tweaked. But mostly for anyone vs a lot higher CR creatures than themselves. For instance, when my sorcerer was low level I would sometimes alone or with a group of similarly leveled players slay something that was impossible CR for everyone and get like 0 (or 1?) xp reward. That I really dislike. Sorry, I do not recall exactly what monsters it were or what level I was at the time. I think I did not get any xp for soloing Balor Princes with my lvl 20 sorcerer.

I am more in line with Mixafix because generally I do not like being the significantly lower level character in a group, it is often really boring. And there are death tokens to be considered.  I do not mind the other way around as much though.

As you get more levels the level range in the group is going to matter less and less. But below level 20 I enjoy it most when everyone is within +2 levels or -5 levels from my character.

Letting people have a lot more characters than 6 would help I think.

If you still have them, I would like to buy the second pair of Bracers of Dexterity of mediocre strength the next time we meet.
