Haha no, I'm not a fan of zombies. I spent a fair amount of today attempting to kill Nazi zombies with Shiff. I'm not very good at it.

Ahhh, Nazi Zombies. Fun times. Welcome to Layonara!

Just for Fun / Re: Avatar

The graphics programmer side of me was especially impressed by the skin rendering. I don't think anyone has done skin quite like that before. That and the facial animations. I heard that rather than just motion capture body movements (the black suit with white ping pong balls glued on at key spots) they also motion captured the facial motions of their actors (that were then replaced on screen by the animated characters).

My apologies guys but I'm going to cancel today's session. I'm not feeling up to running it right now.

The session that was scheduled for today will be run next saturday at the same time. I will adjust the calendar to reflect the postponement.

Returning to my saturday night quest groove! Check the calendar!

For everyone who was on some of the first 4 sessions of "A Distant Beauty" I've put the 5th and 6th sessions on the calendar. It will resume 2 weeks from today.

Wait... are you back or just asking nerds nerdy questions? Hmmm?

I just got back so, I'd be psyched if you were back as well.

Hi, the good news is its not a mac issue alone.  I had the same problem with my PC a while back.  oddly enough, I had good access, up until my kids installed some software, then poof, I could get only as far as the eye.  The only solution I could come up with at the time, was to format my drive and reinstall.  I know thats a radical solution, but if all else fails ...

Did you try updating your video drivers? If the problem was caused by the installation of some other software it is likely to be a problem with some shared service (shared by many programs on your computer) like video drivers or directX rather than Haks or something used exclusively by NWN. Since other program's install may modify shared services but, even though it's theoretically possible for it to modify NWN's stuff, it's rather unlikely.

Hey BrotherKaine! I know you from Exaria like 4 years ago! Unless I'm mixing handles and character names in my head...

If you loaded into the eye of the storm it's not a hak problem. My question for you is, is the red fog on the game menus (where you choose "new game" "load game" "multiplayer" etc.) moving really slow? If so it's 100% a vid driver issue.

I ran nwn on a PowerBook G4 for years and updating my vid drivers solved many obscure problems... even when there was no logical reason I should have needed to update them.

Yeah, I was thinking that exactly when Ozy and I were rping, thought it kinda humourous.

The amount you pay has a lot to do with reproduction rights, quotes started at $175., I opted for unlimited reproduction rights ( I need a nice cover for the "Chronicles" if they ever get done :) while at the same time allowing her to sell a limited set of prints.  This cost me $400.00 for a 10"x18" print and mailed CD copy of the photoshop file,  no guarantee any other project would be the same though, it may all depend on timing and demand.

I am most likely going to ask to do an oil next year, something involving an epic battle of sorts with familiar folk. We'll see :)

More info including some pricing at her site: Carol Phillips - Fantasy Artist- purchase Original fantasy art, giclee prints, and merchandise.

orth! call me if it involves certain familliar folks that.. may be my characters. I'll chip in!

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Linux problem with custom content: Textures
« on: September 03, 2007, 12:51:02 am »
If the game runs, you don't have any lib problems. If you do, it wont run or will break before you can get into a game.

You're not running it in wine are you?

---

I'm running ubuntu on a 64 bit dual core machine w/a nvidia card and it works great after a ton of screwing with libraries and such. but if any of the graphics libraries are missing the game won't run afaik. Oh, I'm also running Xorg rather than xFree86

It may be the ATI thing, my apple has an ATI card and some textures are odd. Some were even white before one of the nwn patches about a year or two ago.

I suppose it's possible you made some mistake in getting the textures from the windows install (unless it's only custom tex's that are broke)

---

Sorry that isn't very helpful, however I'd say it's a good bet that this isn't a lib problem.

I'm also going to have to disagree for semantic reasons, which I believe ozy will appreciate.

In this case, characters with strong IC ties to the events in question would have a "greater claim" to said role in them.

A lot of the in fighting that Chongo was writing about are very prevalent in group structures and organizations.  One of the things that I have said to new players via Tell, is that "Layonara is like starting at a new school.  It seems a bit lonely at first, as it takes a little time to make new friends."  When you think about it, it really is.  We are people with various degrees of experience, and administration.  We have first impressions and clicks.

What I try to remember, is that I am here to have fun.  I am not here to live up to anyone else's standards.  I am not here to produce drama for others.  I am here to have a good time.  I obey the server rules, because I know that if I don't, I will have a bad time.  I try to live up to the spirit of the server, because I like the spirit of the server.  Don't expect me to be perfect, I make no claims to be a professional game player, or RP developer.  We are all armatures here, as this a hobby.  Relax and have a good time ;)

AeonBlues

I enjoy your contribution to the RP on my quests.

Chongo's observations in the OP are incisive and cut straight to the core of the strife that exists in NWN communities. I've seen it over and over on this server and others.

Fixed Bugs / Re: Bard spell - Amplify
« on: July 21, 2007, 08:55:49 pm »
I've Always thought it was odd how amplify and clairvoyance/clairaudience were such short duration compared to all the spells that have more of an impact on game mechanics. While amplify and clairvoyance/clairaudience do have a game mechanics purpose it's very weak compared to say, true seeing, which serves the same purpose and is just better (though higher level.)

True seeing's duration is 10x longer per level than ampify and clairvoyance/clairaudience. I wouldn't mind them being longer duration as they are more in the realm of rp spells.

Why would someone create a forum account for purposes of posting this if they weren't promoting their own project? Heh, at least it was done tactfully and the user seems to have done their homework on their audience.
