General Discussion / RE: This is gotta stop...
« on: January 04, 2006, 08:41:00 am »
I've been instructed by my superiors to not take offense to Acacea's post, as well to not be a human buttocks about the entire matter. Which, naturally is simply quite impossible for someone of my vastly minute caliber to even dream of attempting. As such...

*Acacea, where in the heck do you get off, casting stones at everyone's glass house like that? It isn't enough that you have to moan and complain when someone of obvious superfluous amounts of intelligence makes him/herself present, but you go so far as to attempt to defend your offense-bringing comments by saying, quite basically, that "you shouldn't have existed in the first place, so that I wouldn't have to insult you in such a manner". Well, dear, it is things like this, people like you, that make the world the murky marshland of poverty and fear that it is. For shame, Acacea, for shame.

*- Not to be taken with any bit of seriousness in implied tone: Merely a jest to provoke Acacea's ire, and very likely ineffectual and a failed attempt, all in all. I love you all, especially Acacea. *patpat*

General Discussion / RE: Layonara to nwn2?
« on: October 26, 2005, 03:08:00 pm »
We have to ask ourselves, then, the real big, simple question. Would a Layonara on a better system like NWN2 be worth the cost/time/labour involved with the upgrade?

It is my personal belief that yes, it would, but only because there would be some 20 avid people willing to work at building the mod for Leanthar. I daresay, he'd not have to raise much of a finger other than adding areas and maybe touching up a few scripts. This means Layonara, if everyone who was building it was working extremely hard, would not take more than, in my belief, three months to create.

However, Layonara is good as it is. What's to stop us from playing, anyways, once we kill Bloodstone? Wouldn't you like to take part in whatever goes on after that? Perhaps bitter rivalries re-emerge, or another kingdom surfaces. Maybe yet another villain, though less powerful than Bloodstone, would take advantage of the chaos after his defeat. For there would surely be chaos following the end of a war; there always is.

Development Journals and Discussion / Aleister
« on: October 23, 2005, 11:48:00 pm »
Let me tell you about "medge".

His name is Aleister, and he is as much a nuisance as he is a friend. I think of him as a sidekick, a lackey, a comrade... He is another of the few, few people that I would give a limb if it could save his life. But I would never, ever let him hear the end of it, the ungrateful sod.

He isn't a terribly evil fellow, but he's in it only for himself. Well, him and me. I like to think he's out there to further my own life's greatness, as I am his. Huh.

He is a pest, sometimes, though, I will admit that. Running through my house, barring all my doors and jamming all the locks. One day him and his little imp of a helper Beardfoot decided to build a chimney right in my main entrance hall. They built it out of brick and piled it high, punching a hole through the floor of my upstairs bedroom to build the fireplace's chimney. And the worst part is, I couldn't get rid of it; had to wait for a long, long time for him to dismantle it.

But I still consider him a close friend and ally, and would be very, very saddened if he ever left me.

Let me tell you about my friend Beardfoot.

She hates that name. I know she hates it, and she tells me she hates it everytime I tell her that she's Beardfoot. But she takes it all in stride, and I love her for it. Her real name is Acacea. She is a very great friend, willing to put up with an old dwarf like me through thick and thin, no matter how far in the Hells it is that I choose to take her, whether or not she is willing to go in the first place.

As an act of friendship, I've decided to subliminally instill my good word into her little head, to help her along on life's path, to help her make the right decisions that will benefit all of society. Cleverly, I have disguised these behind the simple idea of "training her to be a dwarf". I don't think she likes it much, but she'll thank me one day when instead of stealing to get by, she's picking up a hammer and beating metal for a living.

Acacea is, to say the very, very least, family to me. I think of myself as her principled father that she never had, though I bet she thinks far, far differently of me. She is probably one of the few halflings that I'd give a limb to save. Trust in me here, the number of halflings that I would do that for is a very scarce, rare number.

I know that, as my health deteriorates as it does, she'll live long, long after I'm gone... I can only hope that she remembers me for the rest of her happy, good-natured days.

Good citizen? Wow. You must be American.

Have fun toying with some person's fate. The GMs tend to do it all the time, now it's YOUR turn. :D

I mean. Yeah. Honest, open mind and all that. Be a bleeding heart! Yeah. Yeah.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Well. Alayna's dead. Cry over that for a bit. Yep. Good.

Now. We must discuss the future of Weston.

I'd like to see the one where all the neutral's turn hostile. :) I'd like to see the factions altered again, so that Erag and what's-her-face start fighting. Erag cheats and uses a dagger. The cheater.

...and defend it at all costs. Don't want those intruders taking YOUR safe rest spot. Hide in the bushes, draw that lovely little dagger of yours, and if they camp around your fire, why, knife 'em and make 'em into a coat. Also, stick their head on a pike as a warning. :D

Well. That's what I'd do, anyways.

*Guilara gets a glimpse of the wanted poster as she sails off the costs of Mistone, sighing quietly*

Humph, and all I wanted to do was freeze the old man's naughty bits.
Very well, back home for me, for a while. Get this thing sorted out before I come back and stand up to whatever it is. Wonder if I get the bounty if I turn myself in? Huh. Neato.

I'd rather keep with the tradition of the boxing matches I *have* been in, and fight old men first. I tend to win against them.

"Whell..."

Turor hops up onto a stool, holding a mug of nice, foamy, golden brown ale, the kind that makes men's jaws drop and drool run down the side of their chin. A translator stands by to translate everything the dwarf says, in such a way that, y'know... normal, dumb, non-dwarven people can understand him.

"I was at the Leilon Arms Inn recently. Now, mind you, this was originally thought of as an unwise move based on past occurances of me eating Derrick's puppy. Anyways! I went there."

"I sang my 'I Hate Elves' song, with the new 'I Hate Stuffy Paladins, too' verses. Everybody liked it. People bought me ale."

"And THEN, Aleister falls asleep. Poor bugger, being so old must be so tiresome. Well, I guarded his chest for him. And I was doing a very admirable job of turning people away! I should have been payed for my service, I guess."

"But then he said he was awake, and people could look at his merchandise again. I said 'No they can't.' After all... Al was obviously still tired from his recent snoozing."

"Well, I stood there as a guard like none other. In some kind of strange rage, Aleister and Derrick looked about to boot me around. Well, Aleister would have made strange pawing actions at my cape and chest, but that would be 'hard fighting' by his terms. I was more afraid of Derrick's maul."

"So, I had them buy me twenty five ales. And they did. And I went away. And I drank all of them, right then and there. And Derrick, I think, knocked me out."

"Anyways, I woke up on a couch smelling like urine, so I thought it time to leave. Dumb people. In their dumb... what's that? Oh. Inn."
