Roleplaying / Rebuilding the village of Vale
« on: February 19, 2021, 02:28:46 pm »
After years of research and acquiring support, those wishing to rebuild the village of Vale assemble a list of the material and labor requirements. Though the patrons don't know who would choose to relocate to the newly rebuilt village, especially since most of the original inhabitants were murdered, that is a problem for after there are buildings to which to relocate.

- 1000 oak planks [175/1000]
- 500 mahogany planks [11/500]
- 5000 iron ingots (iron spikes count as two ingots) [1591/5000]
- 1000 lumps of coal [1244/1000]
- 1000 bits of clay [1042/1000]
- 500 gum arabic [500/500]
- 500 ingots of glass [506/500]
- 1000 mixed ore (representing stone; can be any raw ore: copper, iron, platinum, etc.) [1001/1000]
- 100 Fortune (can be provided by multiple characters) [34/100]
- 500,000 True (to pay for workers, transport of goods, and other associated building costs) [528488/500000]

Misc. Donations: 199 Iron Spike molds

OOC stuff:
1. I'll update this post with a running tally of acquired goods.
2. Those wishing to collect for this effort need to place a chest (or ten) to hold items for collection AND post in this thread where the chest is placed. I'll hop in as a GM regularly and pick up the items to add to the tally. I can pick up directly from PCs (and will have to for the Fortune required), but the chests allow us to not have to coordinate being on at the same time.
3. Once everything is acquired, the Team will give the go ahead for a new area to be placed IG.
4. If you have questions, ask. Also, note that this is an RP thread, so make your posts generally IC, and denote OOC stuff in a manner where we can easily tell the difference.
5. Have fun!

For those that were on this quest, is February 12th a generally good day to finish it up? Looking at running at the same time, maybe starting thirty minutes earlier. For you GMTers, I know it's a Friday night, which means you may be going out or whatnot, but I think that's the soonest I can try and finish the quest. My next opportunity (to run during that time slot) won't be until March, I don't think.

Date: January 27th, 2021
Time: 2pm Central (3pm EST)
Level Requirements: All Levels
The quest starts in Hurm.

Premise: You have heard of a high paying bounty put out by the Liwich Kingdom. You sailed to Hurm to find out more details.

Trade and Market Hall / Re: Cailomel Goods and Wares (updated)
« on: December 30, 2020, 08:56:07 pm »
The Demon of Leringard pops in on a Wedlar. He peruses the shop with slow measure until he finds the magical visuals one can find apply to a stick or weapon. After reviewing the prices, he drops a purse containing 2000 True into payment chest, and takes the application which actually removes such visuals.

/// I think if I read the prices right the most expensive visual sells for 1k at the shop, but the visual removal option is not listed with a price, so paid double just in case. ///

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Battlerage
« on: December 18, 2020, 01:27:13 pm »
As for whether or not Battlerage will kick off the terrifying rage aura, I have no idea. That said, if I have a moment, I can make an NPC test character and see if it works. Outside of that you can ping Orth or maybe HB on Discord and see if they can look at the script to see if it will work.

General Discussion / Re: Do the Humans need their own language?
« on: July 13, 2019, 05:49:28 pm »
In most PnP PWs, humans have numerous languages. Honestly, I always kind of assumed that different regions have local languages. Such has never been codified that I know of, but I don't see the addition of such local languages as problematic to prior history.

Honestly, I think trade-in values, item-costs, etc. for transactions between PCs should be determined In-Character, on a case-by-case, shop-by-shop basis, rather than decided Out-Of-Character on a 'universal' level. This allows for competition as well as personality and other RP avenues to blossom. The lens price is a useful reference, but honestly, the lens price for an egg is like ten GP, and Steel will pay hundreds of gold pieces per egg, heh.

As for the NPC shops and such, we already have a system (using PC skills so that it has some RP value) that allows for price increases and decreases from the stock NWN values.

All that said, I don't want to discourage discussion on any topic related to Layo and NWN, so don't let me slow you down.

Rumour Has It / Word arrives from Arnax....
« on: March 25, 2017, 09:17:53 pm »
.... her majesty the Queen Louise Maillard has placed new bounties on a bounty board just inside the Arnax city walls. Rumor has it that these bounties are those that have eluded or destroyed the queen's attempts to capture them with the military, and are thus very dangerous.

///// This lasts until reset/all the bounties are collected! ////

General Discussion / The Troll King Presents: Layo Dayz
« on: January 31, 2017, 03:48:14 pm »
So, I keep trying to squeeze in time here and there to run a quest, or even just play, and guess what? Something always bloody gets in the way, not to mention, a few hours just aren't enough.Thus, I did what any reasonable person would do. I reorganized my entire schedule to be able to devote an ENTIRE DAY each month for Layo activites. This includes general quests, impromptus, CDQs, and actual playtime for my characters.The first two days are on the Calendar (February 18th and March 11th). I'll be around IG starting as early as 11am CST/CDT, but more often starting around 2pm CST/CDT (I like to sleep in.), and going until I pass out, which is likely to be around 1am CST/CDT.I'll also list other events on the calendar that I'm running that day, if they are specific enough to have their own slot.

If you have ideas for events, list them here! Or point me to the threads where they are already being discussed.

Rumour Has It / Meanwhile, over in Taur'en...
« on: November 03, 2016, 10:33:13 pm »
"I'm putting you in charge of this, Captain Felmin. Here is the report from our advance scout." Commander Moreau hands the captain a thick roll of parchments. "Take two hundred men and secure the first three levels of the mine. Take the engineering team and cave in everything below that point. Once secured, send word, and then we'll send the necessary supplies to start turning the place into a usable fortified structure."

"Yes, sir."

"Read the report carefully, Felmin. Everything from deadly oozes to disgruntled beholders were found down there. If you want your men to leave, you best have plans to deal with everything mentioned in that report. Warrant Officer Dragonheart should meet you on location with any updated news."

"Anything else, sir?"

"Yes. About Dragonheart. She is skilled and loyal, but unpredictable. Be aware that if you give her an order, she may not go about fulfilling the order in the manner you desire. So be as explicit as possible."

"I'm sure I can handle the warrant officer, sir."

"Good luck with that. Dismissed."

The captain collects the two regiments, and sets out for the abandoned mine.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"He's gone."
"That's good news. Looks like he decided it wasn't worth the trouble."
"No, you don't understand. He was really unwilling to give up his home there."
"Apparently not as unwilling as you thought."
Tyrra squints both eyes. "Captain, I don't like it. Something isn't right, and there's a barrier down below which wasn't there before."
"We're caving it in anyway, Dragonheart, so that barrier means nothing to me."
"While we secure the place, I need you to take this message back to Fort Angle. For the commanders eyes only."
"But I can help wi-"
"You have your orders."
Sucking in a breath, "Yes, sir."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"It's been three weeks and we've heard nothing back from Captain Felmin. Take a horse and find out what's taking so long."

"Yes, sir." Tyrra turns to leave.

"Oh, and Dragonheart?"

She pauses, but does not turn.

"If something's gone wrong. Don't go digging around. Get your butt back here and let me know. Got it?"

"Got it."

"Excuse me?"

".... yes, Commander, sir."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"By the gods..... They're..... gone.... they're all gone...."
I'm afraid due to unforseen circumstances, I have to move the quest from this afternoon to this evening- please check the calendar to verify the time (which should be 7pm EST/EDT). That's the bad news, and I'm terribly sorry if that messes up someone's plans to attend.The good news is that I have a very specific direction and story now, and have updated the calendar to reflect that. Something has awoken in the Ire.
General Discussion / A quick community update from Milty
« on: August 10, 2015, 08:00:31 pm »
So, I've been a little scarce lately. Aside from work picking up some, I also travelled some 12000 miles in July, all by car, so I was simply out of pocket. After returning, I've had to play catch-up, which I'm still doing. All that to say I'm still alive and kicking, and I've got some stuff planned, from CDQs (you know who you are), to quest series, to finishing up Steel's exploration of the Deep. So be on the lookout for stuff from me in the very near future. =)
Rumour Has It / The murderous Grum Gang has escaped!
« on: January 01, 2015, 04:48:25 pm »
After terrorizing the countryside for years, murdering dozens of people, the Grum Gang was finally captured five years ago by the Sagewald military. Imprisoned in the deepest cells of Osl Fort, it is unknown why they were never executed. Sources confirm that they broke out just a few days ago after an explosion of unknown origin damaged the interior of the fort. Authorities in Marinor's Hold have put a call out to local adventurers and bounty hunters to meet in Marinor's Hold to receive information on the escaped prisoners before ultimately tracking them down and bringing them to justice.
