Roleplaying / ATTENTION: Cherry Lake the Bounty Commissioner is in Center

"Do you think you are an experienced adventurer? Do you have what it takes to handle the baddest of the bad? Help bring escaped murderers and thieves to justice and make some good coin on the side. See Cherry Lake to pick up the latest bounty. Good luck!"

//// I'll be doing more of these in the future, but note they do not persist past server reset, and once completed, they do not reset. Watch IG or here or Discord to note when a new bounty is available. Also, you'll want to 'examine' the NPC Cherry Lake for more details. ////

Does Friday March 19th work for y'all? I think that's the next time I can run a session that starts around 3pm EST.

Also, if for some reason I don't find and reward you for the last session between now and then, I'll get the rewards to everyone on that session.

Word gets out that the so-called "Pack" out of Fort Wayfare will be organizing the construction and general building efforts of Vale, something with which this organization has experience after the work they put in to update Wayfare's physical defenses.

Roleplaying / Rebuilding the village of Vale

After years of research and acquiring support, those wishing to rebuild the village of Vale assemble a list of the material and labor requirements. Though the patrons don't know who would choose to relocate to the newly rebuilt village, especially since most of the original inhabitants were murdered, that is a problem for after there are buildings to which to relocate.

- 1000 oak planks [155/1000]
- 500 mahogany planks [11/500]
- 5000 iron ingots (iron spikes count as two ingots) [1161/5000]
- 1000 lumps of coal [1207/1000]
- 1000 bits of clay [1042/1000]
- 500 gum arabic [500/500]
- 500 ingots of glass [506/500]
- 1000 mixed ore (representing stone; can be any raw ore: copper, iron, platinum, etc.) [1001/1000]
- 100 Fortune (can be provided by multiple characters) [34/100]
- 500,000 True (to pay for workers, transport of goods, and other associated building costs) [528488/500000]

Misc. Donations: 199 Iron Spike molds

OOC stuff:
1. I'll update this post with a running tally of acquired goods.
2. Those wishing to collect for this effort need to place a chest (or ten) to hold items for collection AND post in this thread where the chest is placed. I'll hop in as a GM regularly and pick up the items to add to the tally. I can pick up directly from PCs (and will have to for the Fortune required), but the chests allow us to not have to coordinate being on at the same time.
3. Once everything is acquired, the Team will give the go ahead for a new area to be placed IG.
4. If you have questions, ask. Also, note that this is an RP thread, so make your posts generally IC, and denote OOC stuff in a manner where we can easily tell the difference.
5. Have fun!

If you were on this second installment of the quest, please post here. I'll be looking for each of you IG to give the quest XP and a small token of thanks for putting up with all my crashing the other day.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Body Size Changed

I think you're looking for the 'phenotype' change rather than the 'size' change, Riven. I think you can change that with a command, too, but I'll double check.

Calendar Events / The Troll King Presents: The Hunt Begins Part Deux
« on: February 01, 2021, 04:33:39 pm »
Date: Feb 12th, 2021
Time: 1:30pm Central (2:30pm EST, 7:30pm GMT)
Level Requirements: All Levels
The quest starts Near the Bay of Carocsa.

Premise: This is a continuation of the prior quest, "The Hunt Begins." That said, if you weren't on the first part and want to join the second, you are welcome to do so. Simply assume your character is traveling in the area when he/she runs into the hunting party. Those that attended the first installment can fill you in on what's going on.

For those that were on this quest, is February 12th a generally good day to finish it up? Looking at running at the same time, maybe starting thirty minutes earlier. For you GMTers, I know it's a Friday night, which means you may be going out or whatnot, but I think that's the soonest I can try and finish the quest. My next opportunity (to run during that time slot) won't be until March, I don't think.

Date: January 27th, 2021
Time: 2pm Central (3pm EST)
Level Requirements: All Levels
The quest starts in Hurm.

Premise: You have heard of a high paying bounty put out by the Liwich Kingdom. You sailed to Hurm to find out more details.

Trade and Market Hall / Re: Cailomel Goods and Wares (updated)

The Demon of Leringard pops in on a Wedlar. He peruses the shop with slow measure until he finds the magical visuals one can find apply to a stick or weapon. After reviewing the prices, he drops a purse containing 2000 True into payment chest, and takes the application which actually removes such visuals.

/// I think if I read the prices right the most expensive visual sells for 1k at the shop, but the visual removal option is not listed with a price, so paid double just in case. ///

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Battlerage
« on: December 18, 2020, 01:27:13 pm »
As for whether or not Battlerage will kick off the terrifying rage aura, I have no idea. That said, if I have a moment, I can make an NPC test character and see if it works. Outside of that you can ping Orth or maybe HB on Discord and see if they can look at the script to see if it will work.

Introduce Yourself / Re: New player saying hi
« on: December 18, 2020, 01:22:28 pm »
Now if only I can convince my own wife to play with me, we can set a tea time at the Leringard Arms. ;-)

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the scenery and escaping into the life of an adventurer in a strange and dangerous world.

General Discussion / Re: Do the Humans need their own language?
« on: July 13, 2019, 05:49:28 pm »
In most PnP PWs, humans have numerous languages. Honestly, I always kind of assumed that different regions have local languages. Such has never been codified that I know of, but I don't see the addition of such local languages as problematic to prior history.

Honestly, I think trade-in values, item-costs, etc. for transactions between PCs should be determined In-Character, on a case-by-case, shop-by-shop basis, rather than decided Out-Of-Character on a 'universal' level. This allows for competition as well as personality and other RP avenues to blossom. The lens price is a useful reference, but honestly, the lens price for an egg is like ten GP, and Steel will pay hundreds of gold pieces per egg, heh.

As for the NPC shops and such, we already have a system (using PC skills so that it has some RP value) that allows for price increases and decreases from the stock NWN values.

All that said, I don't want to discourage discussion on any topic related to Layo and NWN, so don't let me slow you down.

« on: July 21, 2017, 11:46:26 am »

Hm. I didn't realize the class placed a creature attack on your character.

There may be an easy fix where the creature attacks can be toggled to gain benefit from the wrist slot, but one of the module devs will have to comment on that.

« on: July 19, 2017, 09:49:50 am »

By that logic, monks would have the same problem. But in reality, all the adds from the weapon slots can be applied to the wrist slot (the aforementioned elemental and silver or titanium rods, for instance). And the damage die that the weapon would apply is gained from the Sacred Fist unarmed damage. In other words, you don't need to be concerned about losing abilities and buffs to be found in the weapon/off-hand slots. I mean, you won't get the benefits of a shield, but you get damage increases from the class that make up for that, like a monk.

Ask A Gamemaster / Actually, any "glove" you put
« on: July 18, 2017, 09:20:06 am »

Actually, any "glove" you put on (or bracers- the hand slot) can be enchanted with a greater magic weapon spell (which you can cast as a cleric), and even with things like darkfire/flaming weapon and such. You can even apply elemental rods to add static elemental damage to them, just like any other weapon, I do believe. Now, some of the monk gloves have some other unique properties, but I think you can get what you need without the monk gloves.

If you really want the monk gloves, though, and taking monk levels doesn't make much sense, then dump skill points into Use Magic Device. That will eventually allow you to use items meant for other classes.
