Rather than letting pawnshops reserve a set amount per player/character I would propose the following:

 1. Pawnshops would only purchase certain items it does not have in stock allready (not sure if this create a scripting nighmare). So the pawnshop will only buy one platinum full plate and not twenty. The basic concept is the pawnshop is not a dumping ground but rather a succesful business venture where the owner would only buy what he can resell.

 2. In that same mindset the pawnshop should then be able to sell his acquired goods at a profit to others who would like to buy them (likely at a higher price than a crafter would sell it). So if one platinum full plate is in stock another player/character could buy it and therefore opening another spot for someone to sell another one to the owner.

No idea if something like that would be possible, but then we would be in a true pawn environment.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Heya and some questions...
« on: July 19, 2008, 11:57:51 am »
Hi there

Many of your questions can be answered by http://forums.layonara.com/lore.

You will see a complete writeup on [LORE]Aasimar[/LORE] here as well.
So to answer you question, surely you can have siblings and parents that does not show any signs of celestial blood, as your actual character would likely not show any clear signs either except the few mentioned on that page I linked for you.

Number of active players are very hard to gauge, but again look for yourself here http://forums.layonara.com/nwn-server-status. I have to say that I very seldom see nobody else around. But there are quiet times and then more busy times.

And contrary to the belief of one particular ranger, there is no such thing as "deer lore". ;)

 There is not!? *winks*

Crazy one that, but did not deserves this.
He was a good fighter, had trouble staying quiet when it was called for, but good fighter. *sighs*

Let us hope his soul will find the peace it deserves.

I agree on that. Lets remove all flashy wards and spells from people, and just keep it simple.

I am in full agreement with this.

However sometimes when you go through an area all the icons indicating current wards and buffs disappear which makes it difficult to know when those truly fade. But then again is it not the casters job to know when his spells will fade. Might make it interesting.

To be honest what is worse to me is when people see buffs fade and go, oh we out of buffs now. While some spells are visibly noticable and some you might feel, there is no way a non-spell user would know the spells have faded.

Another example is walking into an area invisible and going, "Oh watch out the shaman has true seeing". In my opinion there is no way of knowing that except looking at the "cheat" glowing lights.

Having said that I do believe some spells actually does have a visual affect.
For example barkskin or stoneskin, I always RPed that your body is covered with bark or stone. So in that regard I do believe it can be seen visibly. But true sight or mind blank for example does not have the glowy eyes (maybe the eyes are glowing on the fence here) or turning thing above your head. Those I think should not be visible.

Jacchri born 1362, which makes him 73.

Still relatively young seeing he is a half-elf.

You can actually have your animal companion and familiar with you at the same time. Tested it ingame myself.

In actual fact you can have both and a spell summoned animal as well and a dominated one as well. Would be kinda neat to run around with four animals :)

I was wondering:
 1) what people would think if it was possible to re-attach a SS and
2)how much they would be willing to "pay" for the re-attachment of a SS.
 3) how easy or hard this should be (i.e. only for high levels, or for everyone, or only on certain quests, or for a bunch of True, or... you name it)

If (please note the word "if") we would implement such a thing, I would think that this would compensate (at least somewhat) for SS loss due to lags, disconnects or other technical glitches.

 1) I would not say I am 100% for it, nor 100% against it. But if this was a possibility I would think it should be limited and not something easy to gain. If you could reattach a soul strand ten times, I think it would defeat the whole purpose of the death system. But perhaps it can be done based on certain rules. For example once every six months or maybe once per level grouping. For example once every ten levels.

 2) I dont think per say you should be able to pay for it (in true that is at least). But I think something like someone else giving up a soul strand for someone else would be quite neat. So a husband could gift one of his strands to his wife or kid. Maybe a soul strand could be bought with experience (though not sure how to handle this IC) but it need to be a decent chunk in my opinion. Something like 20% of your current level requirement or 1% or total experience. I think the idea should be it is "expensive" otherwise if it is cheap, life will become cheap.

 3) I dont think it should be as easy as I want a soul strand here is 100,000 true, but dont think it should be impossible either. Does not help you loose two strands to try and get one back. But I think travelling to the Plane of Lost (or whatever it is called now) and bargain or negotiate for a strand in return for the price (whatever this might be) might be in order. Just think it should less impossible than what it is currently. So maybe you have to pass some test (scripted random quest) or have to endure some hardship to get there.

All in all I think it should be limited and not infinite, and some effort should go into this to obtain it, not just loot 100,000 true. The test should be of such a nature that you surely would not dare do it more than a couple of times.
