Poetic License / Görmungard's Theme
« on: February 09, 2010, 08:52:18 am »
"I just came from the mountains nigh sky,
I'm not very big and awfully shy,
the lasses say as I go by,
'there goes that dumb bruiser'.

I put on me kilt and let the wind blow high and the wind blow low,
through the streets and the guilds I go,
and all the lasses say 'hello,
how do you do dear bruiser?!'"

Verified: I am not sure if a GM has encountered this as a PC

Reproducable: I am not entirely sure if this is reproducable, but I reckon it is.

Rumour Has It / Danger afoot!

Chakar informs his colleagues, friends and associates with a letter, that the Dragon Cult that waylaid and conquered Kuhl, is making a truce with the Kingdom of Nesar, and moving forces south towards Arnax. He also tells them of a condition in the so-said truce, that the Dragon Cult would have access to Nesar's naval fleet when they have arrived.

General Discussion / Regarding the broken textures due to drivers.
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:16:50 am »
There's a new version of NVidia's Forceware available (although I did not spot it from their own site), that fixes the bug of creature textures and shield textures getting goofed up when viewed from a close distance.

The version is 174.20, and I downloaded it from here: download from Guru3D.com

Choose the correct type of Nvidia Forceware (32-bit, 64-bit or Vista) and you get the installer after accepting their EULA. I myself have not had any bad experiences with that site :). I think they are pretty known amongst the manufacturers of drivers, since they seem to get the beta drivers and so on faster than they are put on the manufacturers' sites themselves.

Series of 6, 7, 8 and 9 geforces are supported with this driver release. Enjoy!

General Discussion / Barion's event tonight
« on: December 08, 2007, 06:14:43 pm »
Sorry for departuring in such a hasty way, my Internet Service Provider decided to start "fixing" their DNS-servers or something, and now many things in the net are not working, or working only in bursts.

I can get out fine enough from there by myself, no need to worry about that. I managed to log in after a long wait (only to disconnect again), and noticed I was at a safe area. Luckily the wizards' teleportation isn't considered a spell  by NWN, so I can just hop myself out whenever I want to.

General Discussion / Annoying, part 2:
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:41:40 am »
For the people with a Windows system, and an NVidia (Geforce) graphics card, see this thread for help on performance and / or bug -issues and for some slight driver-end help on crashes (hope it helps), the drivers work fine for me in WinXP SP2, and with my 8800GTS GPU.
Hopefully with older variants of Geforce as well. :)

General Discussion / Annoying, ain't it?
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:36:43 am »
The Error Reporting screen on crashes for Windows users. That asks you if you want to send an error report to Microsoft of the program that crashed.

This is useless for products that ain't Microsoft's own, as they most likely ignore the whole error report if it says something like nwmain.exe on it.

So, when you crash, you can have a quicker crash, and not wait for minutes on end, if you disable the dumprep.exe (which is the error reporting "tool"), like the help on this link walkthroughs you to: Eddie On Everything

Introduce Yourself / The who and the what now?
« on: November 08, 2007, 06:29:03 am »
Well, it's me, Timo! (in a Mario voice)

A 25 year old computer shop worker doing part-time there, at a small town in Finland. Very near to the Russian border, about 20km to the border-station from here.

I was born near here too, or actually at this town, but I first lived at the border-station village (village, because it harbors something like 500 residents nowadays). And moved here with my old folks. I went to the local elementary school, visited the local high school for a year, then cut that, moved away and went through vocational school (computer / electronics), then tried my hands at another vocational school (arts). Neither the high school or arts-school really worked for me, the high-school was a because of difficult times, and the arts-school because I realized I wouldn't ever get a job / living out of that stuff here in Finland.

Then I tried a higher degree of computer-technology, for about 1½ years or so, but apparently I wasn't gifted enough in mathematics and so on, so I cut that off from my plans and am going with the vocational  school's papers now.

Military training: None, and I don't need to. Even though Finland has a forced upon military duty for every male after the age of 18, medical reasons can free you from this. Women can attend to the duty with free will. (Yes, this is against human-rights, the forced upon duty. Because if you don't go to the army, you'll go to jail for a year or so.) The medical reason for me: Schizophrenia and depression. (Don't worry, I ain't the psychopathic serial killer some TV-series and films of yore have epitomized schizophrenia patients to be) Nor do I have multiple personalities, those are a symptom of split-personality disorder, which has been documented upon a 100 persons throughout recorded history or so. ;)

And I live at my old folks home, heh, poor me. But it's a big place so I get a lot of room to fidget around, heheh.

Future plans? Some, including a steady job somewhere (not likely here, as there ain't but this one place to work at, and they don't have enough budget to hire me as is.) Maybe my own place (whee, bank loans!), and so on. Maybe make an album with a friend of mine. Me as the song writer and singer, he as the composer. Of course this would be just a studio album, with mixer drums and so on most likely. But with authentic guitars and bass and synthesizers.
Would be something in the line of black metal / doom metal.

At least a couple of the hills at the Rolling Hills are broken, meaning that they can be partially seen through.
