General Discussion / Paladins of Lucinda
« on: October 20, 2005, 01:27:00 am »
Now that I have got some time to study the rulebook again I have some questions about how a Paladin of Lucinda would act. I understand that he wont be insulting people that use their arcane/divine powers to raise undead. But how would he act if someone used his/her powers to harm people that are innocent?
Being a paladin after all he would be Lawful good and wouldn't think that harming the innocent servers any greater purpose and the paladin would properly hunt down the person who did this and see to that some kind of punishment will be set upon this wrongdoer. I know that this has nothing to do with Lucinda as a diety but the paladin would still feel that he is doing something good at least according to his personal "belifs" in justice.

General Discussion / Rouge proficienties
« on: October 18, 2005, 06:37:00 am »
What weapons are the rouges proficient in? In my nwn manual it says that they're proficient in:
Club, dagger, dart, light/heavy crossbow, mace, morningstar, rapier, shortbow, short sword and quarterstaff.
But I have seen some places that has a different list. Is my list correct?

Roleplaying / Suited for being a paladin?
« on: October 04, 2005, 03:03:00 pm »
I was just thinking while writing in Storolds journal, would a character like him ever be declared suited for being a paladin. Sure he has the will to become one, but his stats speak for them selves that he wont be the best paladin around. I really want to know whether he would be refused to join the ranks of the protecters because he's too weak and lacks leadershipskills. His stats are;
Str 10
Con 12
Dex 12
Int 17
Wis 14
Cha 10

General Discussion / Thanks(The events in Hlint today)
« on: October 03, 2005, 01:26:00 pm »
I just want to thank the DM that played the old man(can't remember his name), it was a really great small event/quest that really makes it worthwhile playing on Layonara. It really helped me get more ideas on the concept of Storold and his faith, also it's great to have these things happening randomly as I can't participate in the big quests on the server due to bad hardware.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Bags of sand
« on: August 23, 2005, 06:01:00 am »
Well I just found out that the ox system didn't support bags of sand the hard way, lost 7 bags of sand :).
I searched the forums to find an explanation and found that you can make bits of sand from a bag of sand.
The tread I found suggested that this feature should be removed because it was too slow and there already is cnr-spawns that give bits of sand.
I have another suggestion, because being a mage with 10 in strength I can't drag much sand from the deposits to Hlint, I would remove the option to make bits of sand directly from the bag of sand. Instead I would have one of the crafting stations offer the opotunity to do so. I undestood from the tread on the subject that you could gain 20 bits of sand from a bag, then make the crafting option look like smashing gems, if you fail you get 10 bits and succes makes 20 bits. The exp should of cause be low and so should the dificulty. You might say that dividing sand should be easy and always succed, but I takes some skill to divide a bag of sand in the right proportions to make you able to cast a spell.
Anyway I would really want this change to be made, because it would make the ox system more logical, after all a ox should be able to carry sand for you.

Roleplaying / Becoming a cleric
« on: August 11, 2005, 07:04:00 am »
My character, Storold, wants to become a cleric, he doesn’t know about the gods and therefore don’t follow a deity. How can this be done? I have though of doing these things;

1.Finding a deity through rp with other characters
2.Then requesting a cdq to make him a nember of the clergy of the god he chooses to follow

I would like to know if this is the right way to go or if there could be alternative routes to become a cleric. Also I would like some guidance going through these steps or the step you propose.

Development Journals and Discussion / The protectors diary

*A battered notebook filled with scratches and burn marks, when you open it you see that many of the pages are stained with blood. But the writing in the book is that of a wizard, a hastily scribbled headline indicates a new event in the life of this strange wizard…*  Hunting for cougar and the events that followed

 I was sitting on the benches in Hlint, like I normally do when I am thinking of what to do. A dwarf asks for my assistance with some smelting, I help her by casting bull’s strength and cat’s grace. Suddenly a half-giant announces that he’s going on a trip to hunt cougar, I enjoy hunting and joins a hunting party consisting of a drow female, an elf, one half-giant, Spungle, and a wizard whose race I couldn’t determine/remember. We head out to find a cougar and only one because the drow had a problem with me enjoying hunting. Well we got the cougar after some running and a ambush in the broken forest and an attack while running by some griffin nests, cursed the necromancers who are responsible for these beings, then the other mage suggests that we go clean a cave of its inhabitants of ogres. Everyone agrees that ogre hunting could be fun and we head out to find the cave. We are attacked by harpies on the way to the cave, but nothing exceptional and we do fine in the battle. We also get attacked by another cougar on the way; we kill it of course displeasing the drow drow who has a problem with hunting. We arrive at the cave and goes down into the darkness. First we encounter a skeletal ogre, some necromancer apparently though it was funny to mingle with the bodies of ogres. After a short battle we emerge victories, we continue deeper into the darkness and fights our way through the many ogres into a chamber filled with bat guano and some minerals. The other mage chisels some of the mineral of while the rest of the party rests a bit.  We decide that the resistance of the ogres are no match for our skills and goes even deeper into the cave. We get ambushed by a huge group of ogres as we progress, and we begin fighting back. But unfortunately some of the ogres have spotted the drow and me as easy targets, so they run past Spungle and goes straight for the archers. While I and the drow are trying to run more and more ogres join the fight, after being knocked unconscious twice my soul returns to soul mother. Later I was told, that I, when I woke up from being close to death didn’t realise that I was invisible and tried to attack the ogres who immediately spotted me and brought me down again. When my soul returned from Soul Mother I found myself back in Hlint, moments later Spungle Appeared, Spungle was too affected by his recent passing that he could go with me back to look for survivors. I went to the campsite outside Hlint, here I rested and meet another female drow, She helped me get back to pray by my grave to gain my former strength. On the way back to the cave I meet the drow who wanted the skin of a cougar in the first place, so I knew that someone survived. After praying at my grave I talked the drow into showing me where garlic could be found near Hlint, and together we went to Sielwood to gather garlic. On the way back to Hlint I had my second encounter with Soul Mother, when I meet some stink beetles who spotted an easy target and killed me with their gas. Luckly the Drow helped me once again getting to my grave and praying by it. When I returned to Hlint I meet the elf female again, she told me that she too had been in the hands of Soul Mother and the other drow and the mage survived the battle fleeing from the cave while invisible.
