Just for Fun / I Found ShadowTrek!
« on: October 10, 2016, 03:04:00 am »
My old Star Trek Universe expansion pack, collection of rules systems, psionic abilities, races and ships designs I wrote up about 10 years ago for use with Shadowrun 3's Ruleset!  One day during Spring Break in college I decided to lock myself in my room, binge watch every Star Trek episode known to man and use the ShadowRun core system for combat for a total campaign coversion to the Star Trek Universe.  Took about 2 weeks!  I used the Psionic handbook from 3E as the basis for the psionic traditions, Psychoportation, Telepathy, Psychometabolism, Clairsentience & Psychokinesis, with different stats dictating their usage, as sort of a "magic" system for the setting, which used Shadowrun style fatigue drain and power levels.  I was really pleased with how Astral Projection had 6 different variants, one for each discipline to make an extra spin on the classic out of body experiences.  Still can't find my master gear list though, and advanced rules on personal shield and armor systems as well as my advanced rules on ship combat, warp speed travel and other hot topics.  Some additional races were also plucked from Deadlock 2 and the more obscure animated series/comics portion of Trek lore. (Q is not included as his role is always played by the DM!)When we played way back, the party commanded a Klingon Bird of Prey.  Led by Az-Ptol and his team of Klingons with Skabot playing a Psychoportation gifted Gorn Engineer.  He'd mostly hiss and slurp at the engines, beat them with a giant wrench and when they still didn't work, he'd grab them and channel Wesley Crusher/Traveller psionic powers to push them beyond Warp 8, sometimes glitching and getting them stranded in parallel realities.  Good times!Consolidated it to one file and attached it for any interested Shadowrun players or folks who are interested in seeing what obsessive Trekkie GMs do in their spare time instead of running off to Miami Beach.

Dragon Retribution / Location Thread: Liwich Castle
« on: October 05, 2016, 01:12:52 am »
//This thread tracks the goings on in Liwich Castle. There are no PCs present at the start of this thread. Please only post in this thread if your character has traveled to, or very near by, Liwich Castle. When your character departs or enters, please make the join/departure clear with IC post.//This is an IC thread, please try to keep all posts IC.Liwich's people are rough, rowdy but often rock solid. The flamboyant leader is no different. She directs the city's efforts, having made allowance for the assistive presence of the Rofirienites. Like other locations, they have set up a number of neighborhood clinics. Somewhat better staged to withstand an assault, Liwich Castle has started out with a decent level of supplies and organization. However since the city is on a veritable lock down, little information is getting in or out of the castle at present.

Rofirienites have set up with neighborhood clinics throughout the town. A promonient Torantite has recently appeared and has joined in the effort to contain the spread. Despite this, resources are already stretched thin. The townspeople are frustrated and angry. Fights have begun to break out between locals on a farely regular basis.

When your character departs or enters, please make the join/departure clear with IC post.//This is an IC thread, please try to keep all posts IC.Bitterridge, the trade town at the crossroads of Liwich and Boyer, is engulfed by the Wasting Death, much like the other towns and cities of Liwich. With it's borders locked down, the life blood of the city has all but come to a chilling halt. Rofrienites have set up neighborhood clinics to attempt to contain the spread but their resources are already spread quite thin. The mood of the place is defeated already, having gone from disbelief of what was to come, to something low and consigned to what will probably consume them all.

When your character departs or enters, please make the join/departure clear with IC post.//This is an IC thread, please try to keep all posts IC.Hurm has been engulfed in a plague, believed to be the product of the Black Plague, known as the Wasting Death. Rofirienites have set up neighborhood clincs throughout the city in an effort to contain the outbreak. Most recently some Aeridintes have come to assist with apparent cures that aid only the least afflicted. People are transitioning from disbelief and incredulity to angry. Prior to the plague outbreak, names of those allegedly responsible were called out and many city folk are blaming openly those names. Reportedly the Regent himself has sworn an oath to destroy those responsible.

Hello all,In an effort to make this experimental quest-by-post as smooth a process as possible and make sure all sides understand the expectations and obligations we are posting this guide. This is an evolving set of guides that may change at any time. We would like to eventually establish an accepted norm out of what is developed here, if possible. Please do check back here before making new posts in the case of new or updated thread so that we may all remain on the same page. Guide for the Dragon Retaliation quest threads:GM obligations:*Row and/or Dorg will do their best to post advancement of events every Wednesday or Saturday. If you have actions you wish to have considered for the update, please post by the evening before each day (so Tuesday evening and Friday evening). We will do our best to accommodate actions posted prior to those times, but if we cannot (perhaps we didn’t see your post till the next day and GM work had already been done for the posting), we will be able to catch your efforts in the next pass or in an individual response thread as we have time.*Private requests for information will be dealt with as soon as possible. If there will be some delay in response for some reason (largely affected by RL here) we will post a response letting you know approximately when to expect the next response. Priority will be given to problematic situations.*NPC interactions will be dealt with as soon as we are able. It would be ideal to have those dealt with outside of the threads via PM or an IRC appointment, if possible before posting. We understand this is not always possible and will do our best.*We will attempt to give an idea of tracked time in each Wed/Sat update to help players keep track of the passage of time. Player Obligations:*Players will each consider their own lore based power level (as opposed to mechanical) when writing their posts/actions. We would like to keep the story flowing as much as possible without having to stop movements for mechanical skill checks (though we will certainly do that as much as necessary). The exception to this is if crafting skills are involved. We will adhere tightly to character’s actual crafting level or quest given crafting abilities. Please don’t indicate working on Mithril shields if you are still mechanically working in the lower spectrums.*As an aside about crafting: GMs will not concern the quest with actual in-game resource availabity except as necessitated by quest (such as an item related to the quest) or unless the items in question are considered rare/top tear. I.E. No churning out platinum emerald rings for everyone unless the resources are actually available to the character doing the crafting. Secondly, items of lower tier nature will just be always assumed a successful creation (such as if someone wanted to craft blankets for the cause. GMs and player will simply come up with a realistic amount of blankets crafted in a certain time period). If the player wishes to spend the time IG to do this, and donate them IG, this is perfectly fine and for larger scale donations this would be preferable but not mandated.*All posts should halt at direct NPC interactions to allow GMs to respond as soon as possible. Conversations or actions needed by NPCs necessitate GM interaction. You are very welcome to contact us prior to your post and work out the details. PM or IRC is fine, though allow for delays as we often are doing our GMing from RL work environments.*No overt post bumping. Again, if we don’t respond to an action, it may just have been missed due to our work period vs your time of post and we will respond in our next loop of responses. If you feel this is not the case, please do contact us privately. Again PM or IRC work best.*Players can post combined posts (such as conversations between two or more characters) so long as the approval from included players is given. If any conversations or actions are force emoted we will ask the player in question to walk it back (at the request of the inconvenienced player). If you need to request an action/conversation be walked back, please contact us privately rather than posting in the RP threads. We will take care of it as soon as possible, including editing player posts to keep confusion to a minimum. End notes:Please remember that this is a work in progress (WIP) and we may adjust as time goes on to compensate for issues that arise. GMs will do our best to keep players apprised in this thread of any updates to the guide. If all goes well, we will be running a second, related quest set with similar guides. As mentioned in the previous post on this matter, characters will be rewarded with IG exp/fortune etc as appropriate.~row (with Dorg)

Dragon Retribution / Welcome to the Dragon Retribution forums.
« on: October 05, 2016, 12:49:35 am »

Dragon Retribution is a mini campaign triggered by player actions. What is within this forum will contain the experiment of quest-by-post for this mini campaign. It is -possible- that more than one quest run may occur, depending on how the experiment goes. Please treat this forum like a quest. Anything OOC should be addressed in usual OOC methods, denoted by a // or by taking the issue outside of this forum to Ask A GM or PM or whatever is appropriate.Dragon Retribution will take place mostly in locations. As such the GMs will create locations and characters should indicate what location they are at, the details of their arrival and departures as necessary and of course what they do while there. The main point of location threads is to assist the GMs and Players in keeping track of who is where and what events are going on in those threads. Please do ask questions if necessary, again the Ask A GM or PM is preferred. Announcements regarding method changes or event changes will be here in the stuck threads as necessary.~row (with Dorg) *Edited to add the relevant threads from outside this forum leading up to this point*http://layonara.com/threads/10164349-heraldshttp://layonara.com/threads/10164420-what-was-once-becomes-once-more-sickness-sadness-and-sadistichttp://layonara.com/threads/10164425-toranite-aidhttp://layonara.com/threads/10164317-swampy-rumors-and-ill-situations

Layonara Server / OOC: Of Dragons and Forums
« on: October 03, 2016, 10:01:07 am »
Hello all,We want to inform you of our plans regarding the handling of events stemming from the retaliation of The Black Plague, the progression of the Wasting Death and general fallout from both. For the time being, we are going to handle things solely on the forums. There may be a time down the road where a quest may spring forth, but at this time, the events, needs and story are going to be served by forum interactions only.We are doing this for a couple of reasons. First of all, the things that are going on will not lend themselves well to a quest or series of quests. The reasons why this is true should become more evident in the near future. Second, we are testing out the beginnings of a system that will eventually serve as a framework for forum-based RP, including the possibility of eventually running full quests using the forums. The details of this latter point will be presented soon enough. For now, it is sufficient to say that, as with any quest-like and/or GM-driven effort, forum RP will be rewarded based on participation and effort (not necessarily results) in a way that reflects back on the characters being used in an in-game sense (i.e. through Fortune and/or XP).With that in mind, some events related to the Black Plague will be moving forward soon. Your timely responses will be appreciated if you intend to participate. If not, know that non-participation is no insulation versus the effects of what will be happening. If there are any general questions about this, ask below. Otherwise, we look forward to your contributions in more in-character threads coming soon.

Layonara Server / Notice regarding the Saddlebag Pawn Shop
« on: October 02, 2016, 10:12:13 pm »
All,As many are aware, we are doing a sweep of housing, which includes guild halls, for properties that are just taking up space and not benefitting the player base as a whole.A special case in this sweep is the Saddlebag Pawn Shop at 181 Port Hempstead Fields, however, the current owner (Calylith Eluchil) has not been seen since 2013. While not an actual official "guild" as we have defined them, this establishment was created by three characters and has a commerce-oriented purpose. If any of the other founders are present or if there is someone officially associated with the organization, please post below. If not, we would consider letting someone else take responsibility for this location and the services it provides. However if no one does, we will be inclined to shutter the Saddlebag Pawn Shop and return its address to the open market.

Layonara Server / Defunct/Inactive guilds
« on: October 02, 2016, 10:07:29 pm »
All,There are a few addresses in-game right now which are designated as guild halls and whose owners have not been present for some time. If these guilds are still active we need a current member to take over control. Otherwise, they will either be made available for someone else to claim (with a valid guild) or converted to regular housing. At the moment, the list of these is:Grey Circle -- 164 Mariner's Hold
This hall is owned by Kobal Bluntaxe. If there are any current members of this guild who wish to keep it going, please post below.Cailomel Goods and Wares -- 195 Fort Wayfare
The guild/store is owned by Fehriel, who has not been seen since late 2013. If there are any members of this organization who wish to keep it going, please post below.Dwarven Army -- 196 Bloody Gate
Our logs show this hall has been recently accessed...by dwarves even!...but the owner (Azk'a Thunderaxe) has not been seen for over four years. If any of the current members wish to keep it going, please post below.Vakhar -- 263 Vale
The owner of this nature-oriented guild, Aralin Harenya, has not been active since 2011. If there are any current members who wish to keep this going, please post below. This thread will remain open for at least two weeks before any action is taken. If anyone knows the players of the characters listed above and can get their attention for comment, please do so.  If no one comments, claims or otherwise gives us a reasonable course of action for these properties, we will proceed with reclaiming their space in some manner.

General Discussion / Let's quest!
« on: September 20, 2016, 08:08:19 pm »
Here's the deal, I got tomorrow and the next day off.  Wednesday and Thursday.  Been doing triple hours at the shop so this was an unexpected boon with a new hire!  (and I thought I'd have to be covering hours for the one I just booted :P )So tomorrow night will be another wacky, zany, non cannon expose of Bremaster's Madness.  A freeform quest where you do a sort of cullinary scavager hunt with unexpected obstacles with a mister Harakat Smok.  The enigmatic mystical man of many wonderous pipeweeds.  Alchemists and nature specialists might have a leg up on this one!  As he seeks ingredients for the most soothing and special blends and some inspiration for new flavors!  Halflings, alchemists and nature folks as well as pipeweed afficiandos may be especially interested in his reward, which comes in coin cosmic possibilities.I hope I can extend a thursday night possibility for my next totally cannon and awesomely hinted at series intro.  Eyes in the Dark.  As you may have noticed, many of the cats of Center are watching some of your actions with a strangely attuitive presence.    A few of a certain legendary adventurer bloodlines also have been pestered by these forces.  Some even have been stricken mad with hallucinations and portents of woes to come.  The Eyes in the Dark are ever watching, and the claws rise up behind them, threshing at the very tendrils of sanity.  When undeath quests are overdone to death, do not forget that He is also known as Baron Madness. *insane GM cackle*Those already involved or interested how many can hop in thursday the 22nd?  The dawn of another 3-6 session Brewmaster series involving the True Madness of Corath?

Layonara Server / Housing Sweep -- 2016 Edition
« on: August 18, 2016, 11:30:15 pm »
Better late than never, I suppose! Here goes my first pass. For tradition and fairness, I'm going to list these here and give people a chance to a) lay claim or b) get their stuff out before the house is emptied and put back on the market.104 -- Galathea Arnaduillae
112 -- Asher Hardrock
122-- Ni'haer Barrit'tar
124 -- Lareth Vathach
131 -- Galen Iraes
136 -- Argali Trueaxe
138 -- Log Lightrunner
140 -- Twixel
142 -- Riley Alexander
143 -- Hanta Deshaldi
149 -- Elgon In'Darsus
150 -- Gormungard Boulderanvil
154 -- Ender Sai
156 -- Iradril Arkenrahel
174 -- Chakar Achmed El'Mujahir
175 -- Klaugraquene Dragonbane
179 -- Nex Jinkai
181 -- Calylith Eluchil
185 -- Starr Saphire
196 -- Azk'a Thunderaxe
203 -- Unther Hardhammer
204 -- Xanya Enyafailm
205 -- Grohin Silveraxe
206 -- Fehriel Cailomel
210 -- Drachus Vachar
217 -- Sein Alinds
221 -- Boon Loom
230 -- Gunther N'diknik
241 -- Abiorn Rukrym
246 -- Durgen Stormbrow
260 -- Wren Thendor
This is a preliminary list. None of these characters have been seen in over two (2) years.Houses numbered in the 100's are either on Mistone or Alindor. Houses numbered in the 200's are largely on Dregar, though there are exceptions.NOTE: Potentially defunct guild halls are not listed. If I have mistakenly added a guild hall to this list, I will remove it, though defunct guild halls will be handled in some way at some point. They may be returned to the market and priced like houses according to their physical size at some later date. You may wonder what constitutes a valid claim on one of these houses. Primarily, either there's some long-term residence involved or a significant relationship (i.e. marriage, parent/child, etc.). In the case one of these houses is the hall of an active guild, but the owner is absent, the property can be transferred to one of the current active guild members. As mentioned in a previous thread, an open portal in a strategic location is not sufficient reason to maintain an otherwise empty or un-used house. In order to lay claim, put in a grievance/request for the transfer. It is not a guarantee we'll grant the request, but we will investigate and see if it is appropriate. To keep the process moving, we will only entertain claims for a period of two (2) weeks, after which any unclaimed houses will be emptied and placed back on the market. Any existing keys to these houses will no longer work after that point. If there are any questions, please ask below.

The fervor and fears following the supposed dragon attack fades off after a week. In the lack of anything concerning happening in Hurm, Wymere, Redferns, Bitterridge or Liwich Castle leaves many decrying the supposed threat of The Black Plague. Some begin even begin to speculate that whatever magic had happened with the Great Reallignemnt of Stars had neutered the power of The Black Plague. A great sigh of relief is had when a second week of relative ‘silence’ passes.

Layonara Server / Important Server issue -- PLEASE READ!
« on: August 12, 2016, 10:57:22 pm »
Hello All,We've had an issue where the server got abruptly filled up by rogue events filling up event logs. We went from 20GB free to zero in under two (2) days due to logs filling up. This resulted in the server start-up problems we experienced tonight but it also caused some other unfortunate side-effects.To be specific, there's five characters which have fallen victim to this and may be unrecoverable by the means we have at our disposal.Pegasus55 - Michael
knightsfollytoo - Charlie Poetr
Erin Inman - Rebecca Poetr
Serissa1 - Katelyn Poetr
Borbre Barradok - Flint FireforgeWe recommend strongly that these characters do not try to log in until directed to do so by a GM who is assisting in the recovery/rebuild effort. There may be nothing we can do to directly restore these characters to their most recent state, as our backups have been overwritten by invalid files. However, we do have a record of their XP, completed static quests, etc., and we will work with the affected players to rebuild these characters to the closest approximation of their previous state as we can.As with the previous, similar incident, we encourage those affected to open a grievance request to start the process to get things set back to how they should be.We regret the inconvenience this may cause, and we'll work with you as much as we can.

Ask A Gamemaster / Graceful Plea Count for Characters
« on: July 31, 2016, 12:04:16 am »
There used to be a character page in Lore that showed a lot of information on each character, including death count, crafting levels, graceful plea count, etc. Is this resource still available? If not, I would like to know how many, if any, graceful pleas Rodlin Serim has left. Thanks

Rumour Has It / Heralds
« on: July 30, 2016, 09:20:44 pm »
Told by those who listen and watch for such things, by those whose jobs it is to see patterns in things, come disturbing rumors out of the Liwich Kingdom. On the same day at about the same time, in Hurm, Wymere, Redferns, Bitterridge and Liwich Castle, a lone stranger arrives. Each of these strangers is robed and hooded with the bearing of a person with strong beliefs and an unwavering conviction to them. Though largely human in appearance, reports differ as to the details. Some are said to wear pale grey-blue robes, carry a staves of pale sapphire with skin and eyes the tone of glacier ice, while others wear robes of earthen brown, carry staves of granite with skin and eyes colored like unfired clay. All seem to bear markings of some sort upon the skin that are visible. Whether the are scars, tattoos or some combination of both is unclear, and all seem lacking hair of any sort.In all reports, this figure comes into the center of town, plants its staff in the ground and speaks a prophecy of doom. Like so many false prophets, their words are initially vague except for one disturbing piece of information: Each of these heralds speak a specific date, exactly one fortnight plus one day from the first day they appeared, as the day of this doom. Once their words are spoken, they leave as they arrived, speaking to no one, answering no questions. This pattern repeats itself almost exactly for five days before anything changes. By this time, townspeople are either increasingly amused or apprehensive. Having already heard of the rumored and recent incursion into the lair of the Black which stirred the wrath of the great Wyrm, there is an undercurrent of anxiety throughout the kingdom. However, with no signs of anything resembling a dragon, even the elders who have memory of the last time begin to dismiss both rumors of retribution and the claims of the strange herald. Yet there is a gathering that grows by the day to hear the herald speak all the same. On the sixth day, the herald begins to tell a story, giving only a part of it each of the next five days. It speaks of the Five who trespassed into the lair of Dre'zlunkazhn, seeking plunder and death until at last they stood before the great Dragon Lord and that only because the Wyrm did will it to be. With the great Dragon, the Five did parlay, and a deal was struck, one that would allow the Five to keep their lives in exchange for a mere token from each and a tribute from One. Yet the One, the Foul, at the last moment cast aside this deal and struck at the Great Black, finding fortunate purchase with his weapon and dealing a mortal injury to the Dragon. “But the mighty Dre'zlunkazhn is not so easily destroyed,” says the herald. “and a Dragon's memory and wrath come unmatched.” And so, it is told on the last day, that five towns, one for each of the Five, will feel the touch of the Wasting.News of an impending plague grips the kingdom, adding fuel to previous rumors that the black dragon of the Moss Crypt sought revenge. Yet many elders in the visited towns, those whose memories are long enough to remember the last time someone dared to trespass on the beast, would say that retribution came much swifter and without warning. Those who did not panic and heeded the wisdom of the elders began to dismiss each herald's words as the propaganda of some new form of cult seeking to spread fear. Those who did panic left their homes behind in search of somewhere, anywhere, to be safe from the black dragon's vengeance.During this time, the townspeople showed growing disinterest in the herald, as the story goes on.. By the end of the tenth day, only a few bothered stop and listen and usually not to the whole of the herald's words. The next five days, and the final days before the predicted doom, the herald tells the tale again, but with one addition: The Five are given names. The tale is told again, naming each Daniel Poetr, “Knight Captain of the Great Gold”, Lana Poetr the Songstress and mate to Daniel, Farros Galdor the Loud of Arabel, Tori the Reluctant and lastly, Vrebel the Foul and he who brought this ruin upon all.On the last day, when the story ends with the treachery of Vrebel the Foul, the herald makes a final declaration, “Those who are worthy may yet survive. Those who are not shall fall and serve as warning to all others. Defile not the lair of Dre'zlunkazhn!”In a final act, the herald raises its staff and plants it forcefully into the ground one last time, only this time the staff and the herald disintegrates into vapor or dust, in the case of the “brown” heralds, that expands rapidly outward past all gathered and gets carried forth by the breeze until it seems to have entirely diffused and disappears from sight. For the rest of the day, nothing happens.

Layonara Server / Dragon Caution and Choices
« on: July 30, 2016, 02:16:24 pm »

Hello one and all,It has been made known to us IC and OOC that there are a number of people killing dragons of late. As many of you probably know, it’s being kind of chatted about IC and OOC, and likely (I’m guessing) there's a little stressing out because of a certain incident with the Black Plague and what that means for everyone involved. We can all appreciate the need for interaction and challenge, doing things that are a bit off-the-path, especially with the lack of quests on the calendars in the more recent times. However, I feel compelled to point out that killing dragons does not come without consequence. I know, fundamentally, you all know that. It is important for you to think very, very hard about that right now, about the balance of your fun time spent here and the “reality” of the IC events of the world. We (Dorganath and I) just recently got approved for the events that will be following the recent killing (but not permadeath) of The Black Plague. The events are beginning in full very soon. Those folks who were involved know something is coming as there was a GM with them pretty much every step of the way. There was not a GM involved with the killing of the others and we’re giving the people involved the option to walk that back and say it was just an OOC thing “for funsies”. If you do not choose this option, consequences will follow. We do NOT want to come off like we are targeting/persecuting people but the killing of dragons have ALWAYS brought to bear consequences, particularly since the defeat of Sinthar Bloodstone. (Remember, dragons have allies too, so retribution is not always a direct set of circumstances)If you as players want to take your characters to take on dragons for the fun of the challenge or even for the difficulty of the journey there, that's fine. Keep your high-fives on the forums and in tells or any other medium that is not IC. No consequences will occur, no grudges will be held. Have fun! However, if you want to keep that dragon-killing encounter in your IC tally sheet, particularly if you want to become known as (or just brag about being) a “dragon slayer”, be prepared. Bloodstone’s death wasn’t that long ago and all that he has wrought is still quite fresh on the minds of the long lived creatures. Wars have begun that way, and dragons really do not have a sense of humor. In some ways, this is very similar to some places we used to have in-game that were marked as plot areas. People were allowed to go in, look around even fight the things that existed there, but the two conditions were 1) nothing that happened there “counted” in any IC way, and 2) if you died and lost soul strands, it was all on you.If anyone wants suggestions on how to reconcile going to have some fun confronting dragons with what we're talking about above, or if there are questions about what we mean by this, just ask! It would not be our first choice to kick off the Second Dragon War, but if enough of you want to play in that sandbox we can certainly oblige. So, with all that in mind, knowing that we’re about to execute one set of consequences already (which cannot be averted), please make your choice so we can begin writing up any necessary pre-approval requests and get these balls rolling. Are you folks ready or even interested in the idea of having the very long lived and grudge-holding dragons as well as their varied allied supporters waging a war to defend themselves from the aggressive adventurers (and all the innocent folks who get in the way)?~row (with Dorg)

Development Journals and Discussion / Notes of a Woodsman
« on: July 20, 2016, 10:53:57 am »
-- A View from Center -- I sometimes wonder if Center was created by Aragen himself for surely it is the most efficient conduit ever devised for concentrating rumor, conjecture, fact and speculation. I am sure there are wise ones that can distill this into usable knowledge. I imagine the process is little different from that of a gemsmith working raw minerals into glittering gems. More expeditions of 'would be world conquerers' have gone forth from here than anywhere else. For all come to Center sooner or later.I am no different.I have these last few years met all types here. Most are quite forgettable, some, for better or worse, not so.A few (in no particular order):An elven? wizard El?.. my memory is vivid yet hazy. We (and a few others) travelled to far off islands to explore but like so many expeditions our return journey was by route of the bindstones. An arrogant metal clad warrior, hauty, boastful ..quite put out that insignificant me did not instantly recognize his name. For all his martial prowess he had the perception of a wooden plank. He had quite convinced himself that I was a dark elf. An accomplished duelist (Phyresse), helped me more than I could have hoped. The 'man' (he alludes to more), Farros, who can wield his voice as a weapon. (I had of course heard tales of those in Krashin with such power but one ...well Center is a much easier journey!)Tori. A most competent scout and a deadeye with her crossbow. I made her some fine bolts and she in turn gave me a fine ring which shall be most useful. I must look her up when I venture to Alindor. Said ? (or did I overhear it?) she could be found at the Silver Buckle tavern (hard by the port in Mariner's Hold.)A wizard I know only as 'Sib' ..He has been most gracious and helpful. The Cleric of Roferian, Sir Daniel. A kindly soul who seems at times as rigid and brittle as his armor. Yet he is full of contradictions (is he aware of them? or oblivious?) I suspect he is fully aware. I think that for one of such stature to be drawn to a fire circle just reinforces my thoughts of what role Center has in the world. But I like the priest. I think he is a help beyond measure to many and a comfort to many more. I suppose his laws and codes and rules make it easier (for him and others) to know how to view the world and others. I have no such luxury. I've watch Daniel struggle at a much more mundane personal level. He apparently is burdened by being part of this enormous family that are all wrapped up in themselves and their ultimately petty differences. (I've run across several members of this fractious clan)Rebecca. The daughter of Daniel and his greatest? torment. She has, it seems, returned from isolation (as a youth) in North Point. She seems fascinated with elves: travels constantly with a metal clad one; shows up in Center with another, dressed as a doxy and touting her newly found prowess with blade, alluding to Mist. (as much to shock Daniel perhaps?) I actually travelled a bit with her a while back. I made her a gift of both a fine blade I had found and an amulet that might be of use. I suspect she has since hawked them both.Annie Firefly . Another legend come to life! A Brownie! I have been blessed to have her travel with me. A most accomplished sorceress and cook and just plain fun to have around.Neema. None has affected me as she has. Not sure the how or the why of it, but there it is. She has suffered much of which I know little. I suspect there is much that I will learn in time. At her bidding, I have used my skill to fashion her a fine staff and clothing to specifications she gave me. Unbidden I also made her a fine hood. I shared a poem with her. She seemed delighted with it. So much so that I took up pen and scroll and scribed it for her (a difficult task when your desk is a table in the Bullseye!)

Rumour Has It / Swampy Rumors and Ill situations...

An opened letter is brought to the Regent of Hurm and delivered with trembling fingers. The Regent’s aging features twist in annoyance at the interruption. He snatches the letter off of the tray and glares at the servant then turns to read the note. His eyes trace over the words, then reads over a second time as his face turns red. He crumbles the note in his hand and throws it at the servant.

“GET ME MY GENERAL!” He rages at the servant, who only too happily flees the room.
----------------------------The Council in Leringard is brought to into regular session at their “secret” location. Business is conducted as usual, though they address a recent letter. C1: “Well I for one don’t believe it. Surely it’s a joke...”C2: “I do not believe we can take such warnings as a joke, Sir.”C1: “*Laughs* But it is a joke, is it not?”C3: “I concur, I can’t believe anyone could be serious about such a warning. The Black Plague indeed.”C4: “Gentlemen, I believe that we should give an ear to such a warning. No action is necessary until proof is given, but what harm is a little preparedness?”C1: “Is that your mystical wisdom, witch?” C2: “Now that’s uncalled for. Besides, her words are wise, regardless of your opinion of her Goddess.”C1: “*snorts lightly*”C3: “Perhaps we shall adjourn and take this information under advisement.”

Reus is brought a stack of letters and reports and goes through them one at a time. At one he pauses and sighs heavily. He goes over the wording a few times and then sets the letter down. “Wonderful,” he mutters to himself, “As if this city isn’t blighted enough.”
