Trade and Market Hall / 215 Rondora Lake
« on: May 31, 2012, 11:16:13 pm »
It is time for Jade to return to the woods where she was made. As a result, she no longer needs her cabin on Rondora Lake. Putting the house up for auction. All proceeds will go to the temples of Folian S'pae.

// no starting bid, but would like to get what she paid for it at least (175k or there abouts), no specific end time either. Complete furnishing can be negotiated in.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Add Drop Items

I think I have seen mention of discussions on this topic somewhere before, but it would certainly be nice to get some new items added to the drop list. Not necessarily more powerful, but different. Seems we have had pretty much the same drop list for over 5 years.

Soaked to the bone, aching from head to toe, and parched as a desert? You need the warmth of a good tavern, the company of an eye catching beauty, and the flowing spirits of Xeen to recharge your spirit. But wait, what’s this? A bunch of old drunk sailors, drafty walls, and swill you suspect came from the latrine. Well fear no more, the Traveling Bard is to the rescue. This is your guide for finding your tavern, your home away from home. Is it good company that gets you going? Or is it the fine concoctions of a master brewer that you crave? Development Journals and Discussion / Tane Umaga - Tree Friend
« on: March 13, 2011, 08:47:55 pm »
Tane has been getting frustrated of late. The Gloom Woods is unhappy. They can not flourish with all the undead there. They cry out for help like an elderly man waiting to die. Tane wants to help and makes numerous attempts at clearing the Gloom Woods of the undead there. Tane would kill hundreds of undead during each trip, but they never seemed to thin. They almost grew from the ground. After over twenty such trips over many months, he decides to seek help.

On one of his many stays in Central, Tane sees an older balding gentleman sitting on one of the benches. He decides to walk up and introduce himself. Tane discovers that this is a man of some magic that goes by the name of Storold. They talk for a while about little things, but eventually Tane asked the obviously experienced man why his trips to the Gloom Woods have been unsuccessful. Storold shrugs his shoulders and says he doesn’t know. Apparently the undead have haunted those woods since the beginning of time. At least as long as Storold could remember. After much thought, Storold suggested that there must be source. Undead don’t just live in the woods normally. Perhaps that new castle they unburied in the northern parts of those woods could provide some clues. However, Storold did not know. He suggested Tane go visit the Aeridin temple in the Silkwood forest for some clues. Or perhaps one of the Katia or Folian temples might have some information.

General Discussion / Flynn's End of the World Rant
« on: January 23, 2011, 04:04:37 pm »
*Flynn saunters into the Bulls Eye and pulls up a stool*

"Carrick, make it a tall one. And don't spare the kick"

*After being served, Flynn takes a long pull off the beverage then sighs*

"Carrick, let me tell you. This Green Dragon Cult could be the end of us all. I've never seen anything like them in all my years. Even our friend General Bloodstone could not amass the numbers and strength I have witnessed from this Cult. I fear there is no turning back, and there is only one way forward. I'm not even sure if we all threw up our hands and surrendered that we would be spared. Of course, slavery is no option for a man like me. I've lived too long as a free man. I would rather die. It will be war, and it will not end well I fear."

*Flynn leans back and takes another long pull and shakes his head*

"I suppose I could move down to Tilmar and bury myself in some cave down there."

*Flynn chuckles*

"Who am I kidding, I'd rather be a slave then leave the comfort of my Taverns. So be it. Then I will fight until the last of my breath or the Green Dragon Cult is destroyed."

*Flynn finishes his drink and gives Carrick a thankful nod, and leaves as quickly as he arrived*

Wild Surge Inn / Bard's Guild
« on: January 15, 2010, 12:14:33 am »
*after a long night at the Wild Surge and perhaps one too many, Flynn begins to wonder*

"What ya thing of a Guild lad? A guild for us bards across the lands?"

"No stupid rules or hierarchy, but just a gathering group to support one another fer drinks, performances, instrument guidance, and who knows, maybe we open a real tavern in these lands!".

Yastin looks at Flynn with a blank stare and shrugs "Whatever floats yer boat lad. You gonna pay for those drinks?"

"Bah!"

*Flynn posts notices at Mistone taverns asking interest in such a guild*

// post here if this would be of interest. No promises, but if I have time, and there is enough interest, I think it would be fun.

General Discussion / Dew of the Universe
« on: December 04, 2009, 11:17:28 pm »
Now I don't want to start another debate on the value of the Soul Mother. I happen to think Layo's death system is part of what makes it so fun to play. It gives real consequence to our character's actions. However, it does have an unfortunate side effect. After a player has invested so much time in a character, and that character begins to run out of SS, they either become overly cautions or perm. The alternatives are to either leave Layo or start another character. Having started 7 characters since I joined Layo, I am not sure I want to start another. Although the RP associated with growing another character is appealing, what keeps me with Layo is being able to explore new areas and experience new challenges with a group of PCs that I have spent months (if not years) playing with.

There has been discussion of quests to recover SS. Great idea. But what about the idea of gaining strands back as a result of the time since your last SM visit. This may even be mechanically easier and less burdensome to the staff. We might even be able to come up with an IC reason for such an approach. I don't want to do away with perming, but just want to give players a path to continuing to play their characters in Layo and not lose interest.

Obviously this is selfishly motivated as my character Flynn is perhaps the most unlucky character in Layo. Dying four times since level 20, and losing a strand each time. But I am interested to hear everyone's opinion. Thanks.

Trade and Market Hall / Iron Wolf Storage for Lease
« on: October 06, 2009, 07:32:35 pm »
Storage crates for sale at 215 Rondora Lake. One large crate for 10,000 true. You get a personalize sign on your crate in whatever color you'd like. In addition, you get a key to the home and access to the semi-public areas of the home including the portal and resting area. Only one crate per customer at the moment.

Only those that are Allied, Friendly, or Neutral to Folian S'pae will be sold space.

 - Jade Willow

// Crates will not be locked and Jade will not assume any responsibility for the contents of your crate. Although, a complete log of the crate access will be available to everyone. In addition, Jade reserves the right to resell your crate to another customer if there has been no access for 6 months in RL. I will send an email out prior notifying and giving one additional month before Jade will sell it. This will only occur if there is more demand than supply. Any contents in the crate at the time will be donated to Folian S'pae.

// Since opening the door on this house does not repopulate the contents, you will need the key after a server reset to access your crate and the rest of the amenities in the house.

Quests Ideas and Discussion / Tavern Tours
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:09:43 pm »
I'd like to suggest a player run series. There are a number of inaccessible taverns across the lands (Stort, Delanthar, Orcs Watch, etc). Flynn de Ballard would like to sponsor a guided tour to one of these taverns a week (maybe every other week). Would it be possible to get GM assistance to open one of them up and populate it with stuff before each tour? Unique drinks, food, furniture. Nothing terribly complex, but something a little different. The GM would not even need to be there for the actual tour (although that would be great), just open it and put some stuff in there. It could stay that way until the next reboot perhaps.

Of course Flynn would be rating it and putting it on his list of reviews :)

Comments?

Now that I think of it, it would probably require an update to open the transition. Am I right?
