Ask A Gamemaster / Prestige class. palemaster for X the mystic
« on: June 14, 2015, 11:33:15 pm »
Uh, just wanted to know if there are any DM's willing to do this. I have almost 2 levels until I would like to take a PM level. I am not sure how to do character  development other than writing what could of happened since his creation in 2008 and writing in some things that could lead up to him in a PrC quest. not too many players to interact with nowadays but im open to suggestions. I started a character development journal back then, I would like to continue from there and based off the story line of my initial submission to get some training  since not too many PM's on I should think. Ni'haer Helvivir was always willing to train me but looks like he stopped playing as well.  What should I read to catch up on history/lore on what has happened. how do I explain the gap in time? Also where can I find spells on forums, I want to know the differences between NWN duration and effects and Layo duration also summons and epic spells.thankyou.

Ancients Legacy / Gnome At Last

Ehkaheic: The Five are Faltering.... We fear for the world...Charm : Who five. Who two?Daniella Stormhaven: We haven't given up hope yet. Nor should you.Ehkaheic: *he nods*Kurn Blackwater: Yeah, Goran six or seven?Zigruum Frostbeard: aye the contingencyEhkaheic: *he looks to each of them as the speak and his brow creases briefly*Acacea Thistletounge: "How did these people even make it in here?" *she says aloud as if trying to read minds, then giggles*Charm: Ya wonderin' rather to serve drinks with the sancks, aren't ya?Tyra Dragonheart: Charm... *she holds a finger over her lips*Charm: *ignores Tyra*The two robed gnomes move a bit closer to the group, and to each other. The elder male motions for silence. He waits for a few moments to give people a chance, then begins to speak, whether or not it is silent. He looks to those who are obviously listening with very serious intent.“We are the keepers,” he says carefully, “We have waited centuries for this moment, as have those who came before us.” He smiles again at them, “We are overjoyed to have witnessed those who have been able to pass the tests. It is now time for you to go to the next step. You must use the Failsafe to find the Conduit. A new batch of families must be gathered to receive the gift of the Gods.“Their numbers are dwindling,” he says, becoming very serious, “Since the alignment, something terrible has begun and those who are Gifted with the blessing have begun to disappear at an unnatural pace. We fear the elves will soon lose their blessings all together.” He frowns with this.“As we offered before, you may take your rest here,” he nods a little, “Then you must go to the Conduit. The Five must not falter.”

Layonara Server / The NWN server is going to be moved again
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:12:38 am »
Hello all,As you know we've been running our server for the past 2 months on a new host and while for the most part it has been acceptable there have been issues with random "blue screen of deaths" killing the entire server as well as intermittent lag spikes. While trying to debug these I started considering another server where I could get an equally good deal and came across one that was Linux though. I wondered to myself how difficult and how capable our current world would be to run on Linux especially with our NWNX plugins. So I tested it locally and fixed a few bugs here and there and things seemed okay. At that point I wondered if there were any new NWNX plugins for Linux that I could tap into to help the world. This is when I really got excited and started greatly considering we'd move from Windows to Linux. There are  many plugins that are now available that can enhance our world. This is how and why I was able to introduce the Dynamic Names system.  Some of the other plugins give us functionality for many other ideas we've always been limited by the capabilities of what Bioware gave us. Not only that, there are performance improvements that these plugins provide to help the world run smoother and faster with less lag.I hope you understand that this move shouldn't be much of a blip on the radar and should hopefully lead to a smoother world with some exciting new features coming as well. Here's a taste of some of these new features:
  • GMs can now create transitions wherever they want. Whether its a "hole" showing up in the middle of Center or a doorway that leads to a Quest Area, they can plop them down on the fly.
  • Players can set their character's description any time they want. Title any parchment "My Description" then write on it and use =c setmydesc and your player's description will change to what's on the parchment.
  • The login process is faster. Some of the checks have been moved to not even allow players in the world instead of booting them after the login. Other processes that only need to be done once a reset are now doing so.
  • Dynamic never ending NPC quests.  If a pawn broker over hears you talking about something, you might want to listen to what he has to say. "Speaking of trading, Firg Knucklebar in Fort Llast was looking for some help with making a run to Dregar." (More on this to come!)
  • You can now ox unidentified items.
  • GMs can rename areas.
  • Increasing fortune for diversifying your exploration with groups, the more the merrier.  The more unique areas you visit the higher the rewards become! (more on that soon too)
  • Improved performance on NPC creature spawn/loot
  • Complete restructure of a lot of the database, much cleaner and faster
I was originally planning to get this entire move and update done this weekend but it may be delayed a few days as I want to get some thorough testing in plus (!!) the missus has been extremely patient with me this past fortnight as I've coded away so I'd like to reward her tomorrow. Some of these features may not make the first update after the move but the framework is laid out and the coding is started.I'll keep you all posted as things progress. All the best, orth

Layonara Server / Update on Number of Characters Per Person
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:56:38 pm »
Greetings Everyone!
I'm writing to share with you all that the number of character spots will be extended to eight (8) from it's previous limit of six (6). This topic has come up a number of times but the large concerns were always to the matters of character development and strain on the CA team. With regards to the latter, there clearly hasn't been as much so we are going to give this a try.It is very important to note that we wish character development and roleplay to be at the forefront of play here. Empty characters will net little regardless of their accumulated levels. However, the last few extensions of trust have worked fairly well and we are looking forward to seeing what new ideas the community will come up with.

Some important notes: 1) if we decide this isn't working out well we will restore the previous limit. If we do that however, we will not force deletions. You will only have to clear spots if you wish to start a new character at a later date.2) If the CA team gets pretty slammed with apps, please remember that we are running at a reduced capacity with a number of shared duties besides the duties of our RL. If people start bumping posts because their apps are in queue, we will move them to the bottom of the stack (which is what happens as we work from the bottom up as much as possible).3) Please respect the rules of the exotic/monstrous races. Submit only during the open time period(s).Thank you in advance for your patience and consideration. We hope everyone has a good time with this! ~row (and the CA team)

Ancients Legacy / All Across Mistone......
« on: January 24, 2015, 01:11:27 am »

Reports begin to stagger in across Mistone of small ground tremors. Being unusual in most places, officials are scratching their heads. None of the tremors have caused damage or injuries but as they continue (a minor quake or two every few hours somewhere on the continent) people begin to worry about what this might mean.

So I seem to recall under the point system the chance to use them for shall we say, odd requests.  I'm curious as to what it would cost point wise to get a small gold dragon statuette (shrine to Rofirein) put into the courthouse in Hlint?

Ancients Legacy / Digging for Answers or Another Brick in the Wall
« on: October 20, 2014, 02:03:02 am »
"And so he's sitting there at the table," he said, clearly bemused, "Talking about this ancient wall he found. He said it's up in the mountains and was trying to see who wanted to come look at it with him."" An 'ancient wall'?" the halfling woman asked, curious."Aye," the man answered. He took a long swallow from his tea. "It certainly was curious! I mean he makes a real sell with the supposed partial carvings of the four deities. Deliar is among these so I cannot help but be curious.""Are you thinking of going?" she asked. "I am, but I don't know if I'd have time," he answered, somewhat disappointed with the admission. "I cannot miss my window of opportunity in Fort Vehl. You know how it is there...." She nodded and tugged at her lower lip briefly. "If I didn't have this full load of textiles...""Well maybe put the word out?" she suggests hopefully, "With all that's going on, some answers certainly wouldn't hurt return everything to something more normal." She shook her head, "If that 'soothesayer' comes out to the fields again to preach at us about 'end of the world as we know it,' I think I'm going to lose my mind. Doesn't he have to prepare for winter like the rest of us?" She makes a disgusted sound but then shrugs. He snorted in reply. "Some of these people," he said in agreement with her sentiment, "No sense in them. If we go to pieces after every 'major happening' how in Layonara would we ever recover from the real tragedies?" He laughed a little. "Yes, I think I might pass this along on my route. I wasn't the only traveler in the bar tht night. Some people were far more taken in too. You know, what with the way people are reacting to the star movements and all." She nodded soberly. "Until He tells me otherwise, I have a schedule to keep!" he says dramatically, stabbing one stubby finger in the air. She laughed then laid her head down on his shoulder. "Well either way," she says, "I'm glad it was an interesting evening and you kept your sense and came home to me instead." He grinned at her."Like there's any contest.""Lay it on thick," she snorted and then laughed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------Some days later, at the sensible advice from his wife, the halfling trader was in the bar along his route sharing the story of the gnome he met in Brenuth. Good food and ale in his belly to warm him, he shares the tale again and again of the mysterious artifact from another era, supposedly carrying the marks of four of The Seven, including his own Deliar.

Quests Ideas and Discussion / Rose's Forum CDQ
« on: October 14, 2013, 05:59:13 pm »

Hello Everyone,

We are conducting an experiment on CDQs run via forum inter-action. The (mostly willing) victim of our experiment is Rose (Alatriel). This is part two of a CDQ started some months ago that due to various reasons on both our sides has been time bubbled FOREVER. So we're going to resolve that during this experiment. I'm doing this in an open forum for several reasons, not the least of which being the experiment itself but also so that a forum doesn't have to be created so everyone involved can participate. I could do this but, the exposure of the experiment might be worth it so hey.

Anyway, so I have some rules that need to go on record for this experiment (just like any experiment needs parameters). The first set of rules goes for the general population.

  • Folks, if you're not apart of the CDQ, please don't post in the thread. To be apart of the CDQ you need an invite from Alatriel and I (both).

  • Nothing that's posted here should be treated like general knowledge. Don't talk about it ICly without permission from Alatriel or I. I'm going to be a bit of a stickler on this. So if someone else talks to you/your character about the events don't assume they were given permission, just hit her and/or I up with a quick PM or IRC message to make sure. It's not rumor around the Xeenite temples, it's not gossip in Kartherian or any other option unless I say it is... For now, just enjoy the story on the OOC level until something more public comes around (which it will, eventually, because Rose is kind of crazy like that).

  • If you do have some feedback on this, pleaaaaaaaaase send it to me via PM or IRC message. Very open to thoughts and observations about this.

If you ARE on the quest, these are your rules:

  • This quest will run for two weeks. Excepting some extenuating possible circumstances, wherever we are at at the end of that time frame is where the CDQ resolves. Please make sure you participate regularly and don't hold people up. For completeness this quest will run from the 14th of October to the 28th of October (midnight CST).

  • All PMs between you regarding this quest need to CC me please.

  • If a player is waiting to progress but is stuck waiting for me on something, please PM me or IRC message me and post in the thread something to the effect of “//waiting on PM”.

  • This event is timebubbled. Despite the quest time being a two week period, the events will take place over only a handful of days (exact number dependent upon the participants) and actually took place some considerable time in the past (as the time moves in Layo anyway). Do not take this into IG play until after I release you.

  • If there are any issues, any at all, please bring them to me as soon as possible. This is an experiment so there is literally no telling what issues may arise so please don't hesitate to bring them to me.

  • Lastly, your feedback is also very valuable so please consider a run down on your experiences at the end of the quest event!

What's next?
I will be posting up a quick recap for the players to have starting place sometime today. If you need to please get with Alatriel over today and prepare yourselves for the next days. If you have more indepth questions about what previously happened please get with me!

Thanks!

General Discussion / Forums - Work in Progress
« on: September 12, 2013, 10:57:59 pm »

Hello again Everyone! Our work to reorganize and finalize the tree for the forum continues tonight. Once again things will be moved around and if you are active on the forums while we work, you might find things shuffled around actively. We realize this can be a little disorienting and we apologize for that!Once we have completed the work we are doing there, we'll have to rerun the process that sets up everyone's permissions again. We plan to do this during the same time as yesterday/today. This is a process, once started, cannot/should not be stopped. Like this morning, tomorrow the forums may still be in process and we may have a lot of inaccessibility depending on how long the process takes. We hope that this will be finished with the finalization of tomorrow's processing but it is possible that a third night of this work will be necessary. We will let you know at that time, as necessary. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding!~row

General Discussion / Welcome back!
« on: February 29, 2016, 10:54:39 am »

It's been a little while! For some of us this has been the longest we've been separated from the Layo website for a very long time! We hope everyone got by alright in the mean time with our limited forms of communication.

For those of you just getting the details of what happened and why we were out so long here's the event in a nutshell: A few weeks ago the hard drive that housed all the data for the website, IRC and a few other aspects of Layonara suffered a critical failure. Evaluation of the drive later revealed that the drive suffered physical damage to the drive itself, and the failure wasn't just a matter of corruption or some other kind of software malfunction, as we're probably used to seeing. When this kind of thing happens, it becomes very difficult to retrieve any data. To compound matters, because the site was still being adjusted, off-server backups were not up to where they needed to be.

A poll/pledge was taken via social media from the community as a whole, as to whether or not we should attempt to have the drive rebuilt and the data retrieval attempted, given the steep expense associated with such an effort. This was met with a pretty resounding 'meh'; the community seemed willing to help if the cause was important, but since the data lost was mostly in forum posts, no one seemed particularly anxious about getting that data back. This is an absolutely fine decision and as such we have rebuilt the site from our last save point.

As an aside, it was asked earlier on via social media, whether or not any MMO data/work had been lost as well. We just want to reassure everyone that all of the MMO data that was stored on the same server was actually well backed up and none has been lost. This repository has since been restored. The NWN servers and all their data were unaffected. The bulk of the loss was suffered by the community in posts and our frequently used services. Several months of posts were lost, but in truth, it could have been much worse.

The latest backup seems to have brought us forward to early March (though the back up is listed with an April date for us). This means there will be a lot of necessary reworking on our parts as well as yours. We want to note a few things for you to keep in mind that will help us all get back to normalcy as soon as possible. First of all, there are a lot of tweaks done to the site previously that need re-doing, and as such you may see some slower load times, slower responses all together and things of this nature. Not all functions may be fully operational, and some things that existed before the crash may be missing. All of this really will be a process of adjusting will probably happen over many months (just like our original switch-overs from previous versions of our website) until we feel like it's as good as it can get. The immediate difference was noticed last time by the community when we moved over, so we wanted to point that out now to remind folks that this part will take some time.

As mentioned above, we have some other features that were lost or crippled in the data loss. The most noticeable of this is likely to be the NWN character imports though we are hoping to restore them in the near future. Right now we can't make any promises or give an estimated time frame, but we -are- hoping that the replacement coding will be finished soon. Everyone is working very hard in their available time to get things back to what we have become used to as 'the basics', and so that we can start moving forward into progress once again!

Another really notable issue is the loss of character applications/approvals during the time covered by the lost data. As was mentioned before, we're not going to rescind the approval of these characters but we need them resubmitted as soon as possible. We'll try to push those applications through as fast as possible so that it's no longer a concern for anyone. If you're unsure if youre character(s) might be affected, please do a quick search of the approved characters and see if your character is listed there with an approval. We will also be getting a list from the database to contact people directly but anyone who can get the process started sooner would be greatly appreciated. Please note somewhere in the top of your biography that you are re-approving when you submit! More information will be available on this topic in a later post but here is no need to wait if you happen to have a copy of the application saved and ready to post up.

So onto the other side of all that happened...

We did move our hosting services of the website server, which splits the website and NWN servers to two different places. IceDragonDuvessa was able to help us negotiate a great price on a dedicated server where she works with good services, data redundancy and online backups to protect us from a future catastrophic loss as we just experienced. As well, we've developed a better plan for the leadership team side of things to further protect us from potential losses, which we hope will mitigate the complications from any future event as much as possible.

For those of you who used the IRC service, it is back on-line as well. Everyone who has access to special, team-related channels will have to re-register their nicknames, as the IRC server had to be rebuilt from scratch. Remember that the command for registering is: /msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email> (changing the relevant details). Here is the basic information you'll need to get reset up if you need it. It probably goes without saying you should not share your password if you do not wish to share your handle.

Anyone with needs for permissions in special channels (Ex. GMs) will need to register their handle before permissions can be granted. Once you have registered please /query Dorganath and let him know who you are (if necessary). You will need to do this for your alternate handle if you need for that handle to also have permissions to restricted or private channels (such as a log in from a work address). People who do not need permissions are not required to have their handles registered, though you are more than welcome to lock them down via registration.

Two really important notes! First, if you have your log in to Layonara's IRC channel set to auto log in, and you auto-log into permissioned channels before you have necessary permission, the server will ban you from those channels and Dorganath will have to release you from ban before the invite to special channels can happen. This will not stop you from registering nor logging into the main NWN channel, but keep in mind the process may take a few minutes depending on what Dorganath is doing at the moment. Secondly, make sure that when you initiate a query to him to handle permissions and/or ban problems, that you have a good amount of time available to wait, just in case! If people log in and ask for permissions and log out before response is made, we can't help you.

In other news, related to our return to the website: We'd like to make sure that you have had a chance to read our thread on the new Fortune System found here. This goes over in detail what the system does, how it works and some up coming additions we have planned for it's use. Additionally there is an FAQ going up for this system soon so please feel free to ask questions over there so we might build a better guide in the long run.

One more thing: We should all thank Dorganath, Orth and OneSt8 for the tremendous amount of work over the last few weeks getting all of this organzied and ready to go! They are still hard at it making everything work like we've come to expect (for good or ill) and a lot of kudos are deserved.

As always, if you have questions please reply here. Otherwise, welcome back once again and get comfortable!

General Discussion / Community Building
« on: August 01, 2012, 03:13:03 pm »
Hello folks.

Community (dwindling) issues have come into the limelight once again. (yes, the semiannual occurrence has come to pass!) So I'd like to see ideas people have for community building. We always kind of do the cricket violin thing but then we never move to that point where we're looking at actual action. As I stated in another thread, I have a few ideas but I would rather open this up to the community and let the community's collective shine here!

I'm going to throw some things out there up front but otherwise we'll feed back ideas as they come around and see if we can get some things going!

1) We cannot give incentives for money for the NWN version of Layonara. It will get us sued and shut down and all kinds of nasty things. The only way money can come into play is for donations to keep the servers up and running.

2) Anything that requires an intensive amount of work for the lead staff will be considered but won't be attempted in the near future. If a window of opportunity presents itself we'll see what we can do.

3) At this time we have no desire to get rid of the CA process and it has been lightened to the lowest viable setting to keep lore intact and our CA staff sane.

4) Soul Strands are also off the table as far as altering how/when they work. It has been stated elsewhere in a few places that Soul Strands will be apart of game play in the MMO as well. They are here to stay.

5) Lore and lore consistency is absolutely king/queen here.

6) Anything that requires GM action will require the willing, but not grudgingly so, volunteerism of a GM. If the idea has merit but we don't have people who have the time/ability, we'll keep it on the idea list for a time in the future.

7) Please do not take lead staff feedback as a shut down of an idea. If it's definitely a no go, we'll just say "Hey, cool idea but we can't do this." Otherwise just take it as feedback to build on.

8) This shouldn't devolve into, "When the MMO comes out could we....". Those kinds of sentiments are more than welcome but there's a forum for that so head on over there for those kinds of posts.

9) Long posts welcome so long as the above conditions are adhered too.

So let's hear it folks!

Roleplaying / Social Media: CDT "Featurettes"
« on: July 20, 2012, 01:20:10 pm »
Hello all,

Seeking feedback from the community about an idea. I am interested in posting links to -public- CDT threads from social media sites that feature RP in it's various forms. CDT threads are creations of your content despite being on Layonara's site and I don't want to post something out there and assume that the public nature means that it's alright. *gestures vaguely*

So I'd like to hear feedback from you folks if there's any interest in this kind of thing. Some points to cover.

1- The same permissions would be required for viewing, no alteration would be made for this.

2- Issues of favoritism please be left behind. I/we recognize that there's all kinds of different types of RP and the focus is more about featuring that diversity rather than any sort of rewarding for any perceived quality.

3- Metagaming - if we begin this featurette process and those that give us permission to repost find that they might be having issues of metagaming among the every day RP, just like any other incident of such issues, we would have you bring those concerns to the GM team so that we can moderate as necessary. Sometimes it is metagaming, and sometimes it isn't. Just sorting through that with mediation eases a lot of unnecessary (and usually unintentional) stress.

4- If we move forward with this, we'd post once or twice a week, and only from a list of peoples who elected to share in this way. This is an experiment and we'll only pursue it if it sees mutually beneficial for everyone to have a little community share (and maybe a little breath of Layo during working hours? Anyone need that extra fix? Heh). If it becomes problematic for volunteers, you'd also be welcome to change your mind and remove yourself from the list of permissions.

5 - If we move forward with this I am also looking at sharing similarly from the Poetic shares and Galleries, just from the list of those who give us permission to do so.

There's some other things but I'd like to hear you guys before I delve into this too much! So what are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

General Discussion / Social Media, Layonara and You
« on: May 22, 2012, 08:02:22 pm »
Hello ladies and gents,

As you may have noticed Layonara's social media platforms have reawakened somewhat recently. Over the last year or so we have been learning about and exploring the usage of social media. It's possibility for growth, for developing more interactive options for the community and overall build of enjoyment of everyone who participates. There have been a lot of ideas and some have been cast aside. One thing is for sure however, social media is definitely something we want to pursue and think it will be useful to everyone who chooses to use these platforms.

To this end we're going to officially announce our move forward with social media. We will be using Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to do a host of things ranging from quest promotion, rumor spreading (you know, the kind that happens IG, not ... that other stuff from RL *winks* ), announcements, and anything else fun we can think of. These three mediums are not the extent of our intentions but it's what we are starting out with for now. We will “soon” have compatible buttons for promoting things you like on the forums. Google+ has some options to us that we're still playing around with and we might rearrange some things as we go.

Along with this we're going to put forward some incentives. At some specific goal markers we'll be offering the community special reward time periods as we achieve them. Our first goal is we'd like to have is an increased number of members on our fan groups.

As of this posting Google+ (found here) has 12 members.
As of this posting Twitter (@layonara) has 22 followers.
As of this posting Facebook (found here) has 151 fans.
When we reach 50 + users, 50 followers and 200 fans we'll celebrate with a double exp weekend. This is a test incentive. Other ideas are baking and we might just test them out sometime in the middle of our fan drive, and likely after we achieve these goals.

So, if you'd like to add some dimension to your RP, use #layoquest, #layorumor or #layoRP (as appropriate) on any of the three formats to make it searchable to your fellow members. The hash tag commands will make your activities searchable, Twitter and Google+ allowing it to be found with one click. If you you have a jam-packed feeds and are curious if there's been any announcements you don't want to miss, search out #layonara. Want to put a shout out to your friends for a spur of the moment get together? Yep, you guessed it #layoLFG! Long running series are more than welcome to develop their own hashtag usages. Make sure you use the #layoquest marker as well to loop us all in as appropriate.

Additionally, Gms will be using more of the social media formats to make announcements about their quests. That means we'll be retweeting (RT) and/or sharing information through our feeds to you. Alatriel has graciously allowed us to use her series as a tester for this and it seems to have gone over well. This will expand slowly over time as Gms grow more comfortable using this format. It is highly likely that quest tidbits or pre-quest work will be given out in this manner eventually. It is also likely that these formats will be utilized to alert players to impromptu or other special opportunities in game.

Will we RT/Share stuff from players? It's possible! Perhaps we see a rumor that needs to spread a little further, some RP that needs a particular nod, or an idea we rather like. We will definitely be watching to see what you guys do with this. One of the neat concepts in social media is the virtually limitless ideas out there. We are really excited to see what you all do with it.

Questions and Answers from the plot catch ups from Session 1:
• Q: Was Molvaren last seen     retreating back to Kuhl?

A: He was last seen in Stormcry Hollows     by the group that went after the Broken One. There is no     intelligence to suggest he is anywhere else.
  • Q: Siphe and his forces have cut a     new “kingdom” for himself in the ruins of Fort of Last Hope with     his Big Red Friend (Ractrafieroz, and he's actually kind of rusty colored)?
A: Siphe refers to it as a “sovereign     principality” and acknowledges it is still within Hilm. He a good     neighbor but does not necessarily follow Hilm Castle's orders.
  • Q: Did the forces of the Corath     sink back into Nesar? (Are they still on the boarders?)

A: These forces seem to have gone back     to doing whatever it is they were doing before.... Or something.     They are definitely not being seen on the boarders of Nesar.
  • Q: Nesar's troops have returned to      barracks?

A: Everyone has gone home, there are     no occupying forces. Regular stations manned as they would have     otherwise been throughout the country (so far as everyone knows).
  • Q: Have Rael's forces left Sedara?

A: The presence of Rael's forces are     less troops and more support personnel, given the drastic damages     done there. There are appropriate military guard for Rael's     continued people presence within the country.
  • Q: Sedara is rebuilding Audria,     then?

A:  Indeed. That is going to be a     long, long road for them.
  • Q: Fisterion didn't actually     deploy any forces of the Destroyer during the Kuhl/Hilm conflict,     yes?

A: Fisterion protected his interests,     but he didn't really do much to protect anyone else's. Since his     offer of aid was rejected, he really kept to his own business.
  • Q: Whatever happened to Queen     Alise Langovale?

A:  Queen Alise Langovale (the     desposed ruler of Kuhl) is alive and well and presently a guest of     Queen Mouring's  in Trelania.
  • Q: Was the bloodpool that was used     to make the dragons-like people (special troops of Molvaren's Kuhl)     destroyed?

A: That  is the word that came from     those that survived the expedition. There is a big caved in section     of ground where the Hollows used to be.
  • Q: Is Hilm Castle recovering from     the attacks of the last battle?

A: Hilm is in the process of     repair and recovery.
  • Q: Are most of the allied forces     withdrawn from Hilm Castle and in general?

A: In general, there     are strategic withdrawals happening throughout the allied forces.
  • Q: Are the allied forces on call     'just  in case'?

A: Support is lent where support is needed, but     generally a  withdrawal and no apparent intentions for permanent     stationing.
  • Q: The portal between Hilm Castle     and Blackford Castle is still working for diplomatic use?

A:     Yes.
  • Q: What was the cause of the     plague in Hlint?

A: The Cult (further than that is not known).     The curing though, managed through the Aeridites and Elohanna's name     is typically spoken in the same breath. (As an aside, the serial     murderer is still at large).
  • Q: The plague-affected and     controlled dragons. What is known of what has become of them, and     are they still "working" for Siphe's version of Kuhl?

A:     There was an active effort by certain allied forces to cure/dispose     of afflicted dragons. Not many were floating free of Kuhl's forces.     What success they are having is not common knowledge.
  • Q: Is it known if Siphe is using     the affected dragons in his military?

A: Siphe's forces are     reportedly only what forces he had with him at the time, further     details are not commonly known though there are a few PCs with extra     details.
  • Q: Is it known if Siphe is using     Myr'drachs in his military?

A: While it is known he arrived with     some of these in his forces, the current status is unknown.
  • Q: Have there been any extended     effects from the big hole in the ground?

A: In the chaos that     immediately followed the Broken One's destruction, druidic forces     within Kuhl were able to examine it and determine it is, at least     near the surface, free of any dangerous taint or corruption. They     could get this word out through druidic channels.
  • Q: Have there been any side     effects from those affected with the Cult poison-plague-disease, and     the subsequent cure?

A: With regards to Hlintites, there does not     seem to be an overt affect, though  every little thing that goes     badly for a person who was once affected-but-survived is blamed on     the fact that Those Cultists messed with Their Town.
  • Q: What is the state of Nesar     post-war?

A: Nesar is -largely- business as usual, to the general     observer.
  • Q: How much have dragon sightings     increased since the Cult has been contained? Is it still rare, or     are they being seen more increasingly?

A: There are the     sightings/attacks related to the on-hold quest thing of Rowana's and     there's those attacks more recent that were brought up (Dezza's     postings in the Rumors section) earlier and which are not really     related to the Dragon Storm plot. However, it stands to reason that     with the apparent removal of the threat of being tainted by the     Cult, dragons don't particularly have a reason to hide away at the     moment. Other than those two cases I mentioned, there really aren't     any more dragon sightings, dragon attacks or whatever. Maybe someone     sees one in the sky now and then. Maybe not. Maybe it's a drake or a     large bird or...too much to drink.

Regarding Prologue of     the Dragon Storm campaign (World Leader Special series that is     -currently- on hold)

  • Q: About the famines - are these     largely the result of allied troops pulling able bodies and fields     falling fallow, or are there other reasons that are known?

A:     Post-war famines are not a direct result of the war on the large     scale. That is a result of other happenings some months down the     line. There are PCs who have information about that IG, but that is     somewhat on hold. However,  Hilm (kingdom wide) and Sedara (in     certain localities) are facing food insecurities.

Information     and nods in general:
  • Q: What is the 'faction system'?

A: The faction system basically means     we're dividing up the world into factions based on each GM's     interest and whatnot. Some of them are plot, some are not. They're     independent though, so we (the plot team) will be reacting to them     just as you, they will react to us and to your actions, etc. That's     not to say that every corner of the world will be divided up and     assigned at the get-go, but the idea is to have "someone"     taking ownership of locales or individuals or whatever. Further     information about this will be coming (soon but no exact date offered).
  • Q: Will the faction system be     implemented for the next bit of plot?

A: The next phase of things are     definitely going to use the faction system and that is part of why     we're doing the Q&A for folks. Setup leading into that aspect.
  • Description of Kuhl to the common     observer:

It's worth stating that what's happening within the     borders of Kuhl is currently an unknown.  As yet, no one has     infiltrated Kuhl since the end of the war... or at least... not done     so, lived and returned to tell his/her tale to every town crier on     the planet.
The borders are locked down tight. This was true     before the end of the war, but now it's even moreso. Nothing seems     to come in or out. The latter is accepted as a truth. The former is     assumed from the latter, though it's equally likely that what goes     in may simply not come out. This of course occurred once the Cult     forces retreated fully. ***IMPORTANT*** Do not enter the physical     area of Kuhl without the accompaniment of a GM. If you have done so     following the end of the war, treat it as an OOC experience and do     not speak of it as an actual IC Happening.
  • This was stated elsewhere (we     think!), but time is a little wonky with this plot, so what     calculates out to years may not really be. There'll be some     accounting at work at some point, but when we start back up, it'll     be a matter of months rather than several years since the end of the     war.
