LORE Bugs / LN and LE alignment pages
« on: March 24, 2010, 10:08:28 am »
Just a couple of things in passing I noticed a contradiction in the alignment description points.

First LN - More of a question on the point
"Has a high regard for life and personal freedom"? I guess I can see it argued either way, but isn't personal freedom subjugated for the good of law?

second LE -
  • Respects honor and self-discipline. Has no time for the law.
The second sentence is a clear contradiction to earlier points in this alignment.

"Lawful Evil characters support a strong system of laws" .:\

Rumour Has It / A folded note left on a bench in Hempstead's main square
« on: February 05, 2010, 09:01:21 am »
Protector,

A small group of us came across a rift in the Al'Noth in the woods just off Haven Mines. I made an attempt to seal the breach meself after having observed you several years ago near Hilm, but was unsuccessful. I managed to recover from the draining effects of the attempt in part due to a large flask of whiskey and a scroll Essa had lent me some years ago. Other than the breach itself, there seemed to be some manner of summoning circle next to it. I detected no unusual creatures in the area. If you need my aid do not hesitate to ask, the rift is a threat to all magic in the area and must be closed.

May the Lady of Spells grant you success where I had none.
~Ben Poetr

Just for Fun / Why I like playing a thief
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:09:09 pm »
Long before I came to Layonara and rediscovered Nwn as a multiplayer game, I enjoyed the works of Looking Glass Studios. Specifically the Thief Universe and games. Not a shooter, but a first person sneaker. One of the joys of sneaking about is the eavesdropping..as seen here. :D

Reproducable: one time event to date

Note: Shield was/is to be donated

Rumour Has It / Ben is seen at the orphanage
« on: November 23, 2009, 08:49:44 am »
Benjamin is seen having a discussion at the Hempstead Orphanage asking about children under two seasons that need a home. Despite the suspicious looks from the workers there, he says quietly that his wife is unable to have her own and they'd like to share their home in Wayfare.

"Its fer me songbird, Lana, ya hafta understand, I know I'm old fer kids, but I ken give em a roof, clothes, and food and Lana will love the lil bugger, ya ken be sure of that. Sides, I need ta give me landlord, Tod, somethin ta complain about - like wee muddy footprints through his livin room," He winks. Whether or not the woman in charge agrees, he gives her several loaves of fresh bread and whatever true he has on him and leaves without a fuss.

Fixed Bugs / Bows in Training
« on: July 31, 2009, 05:36:48 pm »
Bug Report

Description: Ben was training his personal bow with Iron tipped Mahogany with Raven feathers and had his bow to 9500 arrows and decided the person he was giving it to wouldn't care for black so he took to the Fletcher's station for a new paintjob. After a successful change of color, all training on the bow was gone! I found a workaround. Simply train more arrows on the bow, the training comes back *phews* :)

Location: Crafthall, Hempstead

Verified: Arbiter verified.

Reproducable: Single time so far..I'm off to reproduce it, only with less training this time. >:/ Just did with another Yew bow *my replacement* 100 arrows trained and wiped with a simple color change.

Ask A Gamemaster / Removal of XP
« on: July 10, 2009, 03:16:29 pm »
Character: Chestnut Tanglethorn

bioware Id: Cbnicholson

So, I voted here. http://forums.layonara.com/layonara-server/237332-quests-lvl-1-characters.html and got to thinking, why submit a new char when I have one languishing on the server now. (yes, I'm that lazy. :p) All he needs is to have his levels removed to 1 (He's lvl 6) and he's ready for a lvl 1 quest. I was contemplating having him deleted anyway since I almost never play him anymore. I don't plan on making any significant changes to his class or advancement the second go around. Thoughts from a DM on this? Allowable or not? Thank you.

Rumour Has It / After some preparation and a short journey
« on: June 29, 2009, 09:17:42 am »
Benjamin finally finds himself at the Aragenite Temple in Bydell Castle dressed in his apprentice wizard robes, "Scuse me," he says trying to catch the attention of one of the collectors or recorders. "Who ..erm Whom do I speak to about presenting a gift to the temple and possible access to the archives? I'm looking for information or stories about demon lore from a period starting roughly a thousand years ago."

Benjamin unbundles a largish bag filled with several stacks of well made blank paper, blank leather bindings made of finely cured skins, several vials of strong ink, and falcon quills cut to precise angles for writing.

« on: June 28, 2009, 01:54:31 am »
Benjamin is overheard telling a tale about how he , Hedessa, Layl, and Verideth barely escaped Auderia with their lives with hundreds of giants fought through and more pursuing them. "Stupid merchants, tryin ta keep a pet giant, serves em right" He scoffs well into his third cup of ale.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Coach
« on: May 13, 2009, 10:05:23 am »
I've seen this implemented in other worlds so its not original, but its an idea I'd love to see implemented here. Simply, some established coach lines into and out of the interior of the continents much like ship travel. The difference is the coach runs at regular intervals and even after purchasing a ticket, the character waits a few minutes until the next coach. Tickets could range from fifty to a hundred true. Of course the run would have to be across established roads that are relatively safe. Say Hempstead/Vehl to Hlint would be viable route or Leringard to Llast. Just an idea for those of us who refuse to purchase a horse. ;)

"I couldn't touch that buggered thing, Essa..ya saw me..nothin but air and a few dull clanks offa its boney hide!" Benjamin exclaims over his third ale after they return from Whitehorn Forest. "Had ta be the biggest deader dragon I've ever seen too! An No..we won't be returnin ta them Broken Halls ever again, not iffn I got anythin ta say about it I won't..Now shut it and drink yer ale, I need ta go wash my trousers next. Good thing they got a nice brown color, hides the stains well, it does. For responding to a stuck chest situation at the Angel's guild. We had seven chests stuck on our showroom floor and they helped us by destroying them after emptying. Thanks again Gentlemen.

Ask A Gamemaster / Chest not responding.
« on: September 09, 2008, 02:35:08 pm »
I tried to place a personal chest in the Angel's guild cnr room and now it doesn't respond at all to the furniture tool. Can we get a Dm to reset or destroy it?

Chest is fourth from the se corner on the east wall..half into the wall..I was trying to destroy it when this even occurred. Thanks.

Weeblie tried to help, but wasn't able to do anything permanent, suggested we need Dorg to do a database edit? I'll see what a server reset does at a later time.

Introduce Yourself / well its about time.
« on: January 21, 2015, 03:47:02 pm »
update: 29 April 2019
Hmm, 4 years since I last touched this and ten years from the initial post. So some updates are in order. Firstly, Both of my pain in the arse children made me a grandfather 4x. Son has a daughter, Daughter has 2 daughters and a boy. Coincidentally, my newest favorite t-shirt reads "Great Dads get promoted to Grandfathers!". Still married, still working the same job except I got a nice lateral and upward promotion with pay raise. What else? Oh, enjoying 5th Edition immensely since a game store opened in town and Roll20 provides some online game time as well with friends scattered near and far.
I must say, I'm excited about Layo moving to Enhanced and I'm going to be giving the transfer a try tonight, already got NWN enhanced , might as well see if I can get Layo working. End of update.

Hello, I've been in Layo for more than a year now but I've never taken the time to introduce myself since the new forums came about. My rl name is Chuck Nicholson and I live and love it here in Southern Minnesota, USA. My Characters here on layo are Ben and Daniel Poetr, two brothers who started from similar backgrounds, grew apart, and are now discovering they have more in common than they thought. Other facts of note: Married almost 17 years to my high school sweetheart, Nancy, and have two pain the arse yet beautiful children, one, my son of 16 years, some of you have met in the guise of Tragor, the half giant. Christine is my oldest and only daughter 17 going on 25 if she has her way. Other fairly close family members who play here are Talia, my sister and Zergon her boyfriend. My real life job involves hardware and software support for a web based lab application and I work for Mayo Foundation in Rochester, MN. To put it bluntly, I'm a hardware monkey..troubleshooting and swapping parts on dell boxes, shipping em off via Fed Ex to keep client sites happy.. Its a boring job, but it pays the bills. As a perk, I often times get to play at work. *looks around for his supervisor.* I started D&D a long time ago when the white wizard graced the cover of the first edition players handbook and through the years have played a more bash style game in various pen and paper groups. Layonara was both a pleasant surprise and a learning experience for me, one I've grown to love, much to my spouse's dismay as my Saturdays and Friday nights are now spent online. Sundays are suppose to be family day, but If I beg hard enough, sometimes I'll be here. I'll leave you all with a quote most should recognize- I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. - *smirks* seeya ig. *some 8 years later*Wow, where does the time go!? and The written word is merely a glimpse through darkened glass at the changes within ourselves and others. I'll stick the form this time I think. I've grown lazier in my old age. :PForum Name: cbnicholson
