Rumour Has It / A Dawn of new Heroes
« on: May 21, 2009, 05:41:47 am »

A recent attack on the small town of Nel in the Sun Kingdom was thwarted, thanks to the prompt arrival of a group of adventurer's, and the increasingly popular White Lily.

The attempted attack came without warning or reason, as hosts of armoured constructs came in waves at the town.

Thankfully, this was averted... and the constructs never came within reach of the town, due in no small part to the adventurer's that arrived in the nick of time.

Losses were felt in the small village of Fenberry, just outside of Nel. Though thanks to quick evacuation plans, most of the civilians were able to escape to Nel with minimum loss of life.

Still no word explains what provoked this attack, or what its purpose was, though links lead to the recently escaped bandit Sashka, who escaped from Hlint with aid and made her way back to Alindor.

But Nel was thankful last night, and welcomed the adventurers that arrived to defend them, claiming them as heroes of the town.

Rumour Has It / Prisoner Transport in Nel
« on: April 30, 2009, 05:23:53 am »

A high profile prisoner involved in banditry, murder and kidnapping has recently been escorted from Nel to a currently undisclosed location within the Sun Kingdom.

This comes after a near-tragic kidnapping and ransom attempt on a local and well-loved businessman from the Purple Worm trading company within Nel.

Thanks to a small group of astute and daring adventurer's, the man was rescued and due to local outrage at the event, authorities have removed the prisoner from Nel to await trial.

Member's of a little known Guild "The White Lily", originally responsible for the capture of the bandit leader, are also known to be responsible for the rescue of the kidnapped and the forcing of the prisoners relocation.

General Discussion / New Character/Player Quests!

New Character/Player Quests

Starting in two weeks time ( Dependant) , a series of ongoing quests will be run.
Rules and information are stated below.

-- Your character should ideally be "brand new" at level 1...but I will allow up to Level 4. You can of course log in to equip with basic weapons and armour, and customise clothing.. buy healing potions and bandages... supplies... ect

-- Level requirements will ascend as the group level ascends. For example...by the end of the first quest... I would expect everyone who started at Level 1 to be at least level 3 or 4. Therefore, the following quest will have a level Requirement of 1 -5... then 1 - 7... 1 - 8.... ect.

-- Your character should only be played on these quest's until the conclusion of the series. This will last for a minimum of two weeks, with 2-3 quests run per week. ( You "can" play your character outside of the quests if you wish, but should you exceed the next quests level requirements you will not be allowed to participate )

-- Equipment, armour and weapons can be found or purchased during these quests.

-- If you happen to miss a quest one day, you can still attend the next. Although level requirements will ascend, the minimum will remain at Level 1.

-- Quests will be Wensdays at 7pm GMT ( 8pm BST) and Saturdays 8am GMT ( 9am BST ). An additional quest "may" be run on occassions on Monday 7pm GMT ( 8pm BST )

This would be a perfect opportunity to create that new character you had been thinking about, or for those new to the server to get a good start and meet new people.

This is of course dependant on the amount of interest shown here.

Please remember your character needs to be submitted and approved before you can login and join these quests!

Rumour Has It / In Hempstead Docks....
« on: October 26, 2008, 06:55:17 am »
An unusual sight greeted the Dock workers of Port Hempstead this morning.

A boat, unlike anything they had ever seen pulled into port.

It was the crudest, most ill designed ship they had ever seen, and as one Ship builder had mentioned, looked more like a large raft built out of little more than wood and copper wiring than any actual seafaring vessel.

More so curious of course were its passengers.

Five men. Four of which wore little more than animal skin loin cloths and animal furs over their backs, each with spear or bow.
The fifth was a taller man, clad in old, tattered robes with some form of ornamental neck piece stating him as their leader.

The four men followed the fifth into town, where they dissapeared into the crowd for several hours.

When they returned, it was transporting huge crates of various, unknown goods, which they loaded onto a large cargo ship, of who's services they seemed to have "purchased" during that time.

The cargo ship set sail, taking the five men with them.... but not before, to the dissapointment of the various onlookers, they dismantled and sank their curious -raft-... which seemed to have transported them from the Gods knows where.

Roleplaying / IC effecting OOC... and Vice Versa
« on: September 18, 2008, 03:34:08 am »
Some people support football ( or Soccer if I have to use it) or baseball.
Some collect stamps or stick little wodden ships in big glass bottles.
Others play Online Games.
With either of the above, you are bound to get some kind of emotional attachment to your chosen preference. I personally recall seeing my brother sob like a little girl when England failed to qualify for the European cup.
It's really not that much different here.

Some of us invest a lot of time in the character's we've created here, and as it is a Roleplay world, there's no telling what could happen to your creation when you log in. Some of it could be good, some of it could be bad.
Some of it will make us laugh... and yet some of it may... just may, make us curse.

Events ingame may occur against your character, or situations may arise you really did not want to but have no control over. Tensions may rise, and you may find yourself angry, agitated or annoyed.
That is fine. And it's to be expected considering what we put into some of our characters, or how things can occur ingame.

Some of the things Im hinting at are things like:

Deity relations - " I will not travel with this person. Leave now... or we will "make" you leave!"  ... at which point someone finds themselves kicked from a group.
Sure... it may have been RP'd fairly enough and had RP reasons to be done, but that doesn't stop the player who now finds himself alone from being mildly miffed about the whole situation.

PvP - This can vary. But often enough I've seen is when two characters dont mesh well and it comes to blows. RP'd is fine... but it usually results in said people no longer travelling with each other, refusing or being unable to join groups because their opponent is traveling in said group.
Again, fine reasons and good RP. But it still may result in one person being left out of a circle or group they were accustomed to traveling in, or once again, find themselves all alone.

Broken Relations - A change in the routine. Your IG partner may dump you... or people you used to travel and RP with frequently suddenly no longer seem to be around, or are busy doing other things. One thing with the above to remember is.... simply because you may be dating/married to a certain person Ingame, or have the most fun RPing with a certain person, does not mean you need to go to and be with that same person everytime they log in.

There are likely more I cant think of, but the above tend to leave Player's with negative feelings. That "can" be understandable and unavoidable, since RP is Roleplaying out the Good and Bad times of your Character's life.
But the important thing is to ensure that that same negativity doesn't affect you and flow back into the game.
If your angry because a certain RP situation caused X or Y to happen, caused that evil Corath to kill your character in less than two rounds, or because your InGame love ran off with the Tailor from Hempstead, and you know it's affected you, it's perhaps time to log-off, roll back your chair and remember this is a game.

We're all here to enjoy a game. If this game no longer becomes fun and annoys us... it's time to sit back and take a break, get some perspective.
And those spending their few spare hours coming here to enjoy this game, shouldn't need to deal with any form of negativity we push out because an InGame situation didn't go the way we wanted it to.

Hmm.... I've rambled quite a lot.
Basically, all I'm saying in my long-winded way is, dont let IC things effect your OOC mood... and thus let your OOC mood effect your IC mood... and so on and so forth.

Ask A Gamemaster / Druids Dragon Shapechange
« on: September 10, 2008, 01:49:29 am »
For the ninth lvl spell Shapechange, I cant find anything on Lore to show what Stats the Red Dragon should have.

It states it has Damage Reduction IG, but Im not seeing any reduction to hits taken from Forest Giants.

Also stats for its other changes... Iron Golem, Slaadi... ect... which strange enough, I cant seem to change to... only the Red Dragon.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Leringard and Kuhl
« on: July 07, 2008, 05:49:08 am »
*Talk begins to spread of Kuhl, passed from one adventurer to the other carefully and quietly, though only a few seem to know where the source of the information came from.
Some answers are revealed, but more questions arise from it.

A more detailed account is sent several days later, to BumbleBee for the Dragons Whisper*

We'll speak of Leringard first.
All know of the tradgedy that happened there.
What some may not know is why.

Needless to say, some people tried to do a "good" thing... as misguided and deceived as they were.
It was told that Fisterion was deceiving us, that he knew of and had the means to track down and end the growing trouble that these "Dragon-Stealing" Cult were starting.
That by stealing a particular artifact from them, the looming danger the Cult promised could end.

They were wrong. Tricked by the Dragon-Stealers, the item was mistakenly given to them, and the Adventurer's and Leringard payed the price for their mistake.

It's not really important right now who they are. When they fix what they broke, they will likely step forward and take responsibility.
But not right now.

The Cult has been tracked to having dealings, and possibly being based in the Kingdom of Kuhl, in Belinara.
Many may know already of the Dragons now controling the cities of Ash and Phall, Dragons poisoned by old magics and in control of the Dragon Cult.
Some may know of the Cult "assisting" Kuhl in securing a trade agreement with Sedara, again by the use of their "controlled" Dragons.
And further rumours suggest Amaria may be the next target for them.

What may not be known, is what is trying to be kept quiet within Kuhl's borders.
That they are preparing for war, with "Strangers" in the northern part of their country. Few know exactly who or what these "Strangers" are.
The Town of Tammil it is said has been over-run by these "Strangers"... and the last report from Kuhl was that fighting had already broken out in Tulam.
Tracks have been found in that region, tracks of the reported " Dragon Creatures"... taller than a man, having connections to the Cult.

It is possible it is these creatures that Kuhl is at war with, although recent events would make this seem unlikely. But then... who knows?
Who knows what is truly happening over there?
But the more we keep guessing, the more we are likely to get it so wrong.

General Discussion / Giving Gifts/Items
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:14:23 am »
This actually came up twice in one day, and so here it is....

Can we please use common-sense in regards to the giving of gifts and items to Friends/Guild Members/Partners.

Level Requirement, rareness, and difficulty to both obtain and create the item should be considered before giving the item to anyone below your level.
If it is being given in exchange for coin or trade, please ensure the amount requested from the person is reflective of the items worth.

Amulet's of Shield, now uncraftable, should be considered rare and expensive. These seem to be passed frequently to lower level characters with little to no trading involved.

Anything Emerald or Acid or Mithril related really shouln't be being passed to anyone below level 17.. since level requirement for use and to venture to places these are obtainable at are set at 17+. If your charachter is not of the set level, then they really should be paying the standard price ( ie. a fortune!) for it. A box or two of Bodak Teeth or FireOpals really doesn't cut it.

In essence, this is muling. A higher level gathering and providing something at minimum cost that the recipient could never gather. It may not be XP... but its still something they could not have done themselves.

Simply passing these items on because we ( the higher level) no longer have need of it, or have found something better,  is basically damaging the trade of the crafters who venture to these difficult places to gather said items, and spend hours upon hours garning Crafting XP so that they might make the said items.

Although it might seem great to be able to pass a friend a really cool item that you know he is going to blink at and say "Oh yes! Brilliant! I want to have your kids!" , it is also damaging.
The recipient is happy... because of course he just earned himself a new item for minimal work or cost.

But the dozens of crafters who lost DT's in pursuit of Emeralds and Mithril, and who spent months honing their crafting skills to be capable of making fine weapons and rings...
... now find their items sit uselessly in a chest with no buyers, because everyone simply "passes" things on.

Anyway... just a little point.
As always... feel free to point out if Im wrong.  :)

If someone on your MSN list sends you a download or picture asking " Is this really you?" ....

... DO NOT Download or open it!

Chances are its not really them!

If you do... or already have... I strongly suggest going into any sensitive accounts you have and altering the password if that password is anything like what you use for your Email or MSN account.

Due to reasons unknown...

( Though for fun.. Im gonna start a rumour mill of... unpaid Internet bills and downloading illegal video footage [ kidding of course ] )

... Mr. Zuckerman currently has no available access to the internet.
It's unknown when he may have this restored.

He did however,  point out, that if he owes anyone IG money, that you may start adding an interest rate to what he owes of 15% on a RL Daily basis. :p

To Pseud....

For the bizzarre idea of turning Sall into a Goblin. I had "no" idea how much fun that was going to be. But from day one... I was laughing my back off at every encounter.
And to suddenly start hearing things about what Evil Sall was doing.... hehe.... certainly didn't expect that.

And of course to everyone I RP'd with whilst gobbie Sall.... even the ones who threatened to kill him, beat him up ( Yes you Gork! ) and even the evil Coraths who kidnapped him and stole his magical dinner plate.

And to Mix for giving him his magical dinner plate... I got a lot of good RP just from having that. Hehe

And of course... Tegs, Storold, Pyyran, Grohin, Saira, Jaelle ( poor lass ).. especially those who set the alarm for it.
( Stephen... Your wake up call of 5am pales in comparison to Ystrday's 3am ;)  )

Thanks folks
