General Discussion / An expedition
« on: January 04, 2013, 07:32:36 am »
A recent exploration into Howling Trolloc territory found a cave with a locked door. Maran the Druid is determined to explore this cave of abberations, and will need a useful LockPicker to open the door.

If the cave turns out to be a small venture, and a decent group has assembled, we may venture down the Deep for Emeralds or face off against the FireGiants and Gensai.

Just after some confirmation on some species as being abberations or corruptions and alterations of natural forms.

Goblins? ( corrupted halflings? )
Minotaurs?
Lizardmen?
Bugbears and Gnolls?
Spiders and Bugs?

Rumour Has It / A Quiet word passes by...
« on: December 21, 2010, 10:39:06 am »
An old DragonCalled, by name of Sallaron Tempest, who seemed to hold some reknown as a carpenter, has died of old age in his house in Haft Lake.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a small fortune in his will was given to various charities.

During the funeral, friends and neighbours were astounded to see a mass of people attend, many seeming to be Ex-slaves rescued from a terrible life, whilst others appeared to be those of great rank and standing from various organisations.

Neighbours were noted to have been amazed by the massive attendance to the funeral, stating " He seemed like such an ordinary man. "

Hall of Heroes and Heroines / Sallaron Tempest
« on: December 21, 2010, 10:33:15 am »
Sallaron Tempest.

For many, the name may have little to no meaning. Just an ordinary name for what was supposed to be an ordinary man. So ordinary, that the only thing this man ever wanted ... was to be ordinary. Live out an ordinary, simple life.
And he tried so very hard to have the ordinary life, fought so hard to have it, and fought even harder to keep it, that in the end... it became so very far removed from an ordinary life that he himself would find himself a hero.

Some may perhaps come across his journal. Some may consider it a mish-mash of unexplainable jargon. Others may find it worth the read, with pearls of wisdom hidden within its lines.

Others, perhaps of a certain character, might perhaps recognise his other name, Lord Reaver.
A name chosen for him by another, and given to Sallaron to protect his family from the things he was forced to do, and had to do, to keep them safe.
Step into Hurm and ask of the name, and hear what tales they tell of this ordinary man. I guarantee you will be surprised.

And if you should know the secret of Folian's Wood, pass through there, in the depths of the Forest of Mists. Pass through Folian's pass, and find the stream by the cliffs, and the old bench that sits there.
Take a moment to sit and rest, and read the moss covered plaque.
And remember, that there is no such thing, as an ordinary life....

General Discussion / And thats it....
« on: December 21, 2010, 10:15:37 am »
Well, this might have been seen coming, but its time I hung up the GM gloves.

RealLife has took a wonderful turn in the form of two crazy, mad-cap spawns of Mini-Me's, whom continue to suck and drain every ounce of will to live that I have ( kidding of course! ;)  )

Add to that various other things, and sadly I just don't have time for GMing anymore, so I'll put the GM Wand back on the self, and hope someone else will pick it up and have a wave.

But I do thank you for the opportunity I had to bring about some chaos, fun and laughs to this wonderful little world you've all created. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the MMO when it's released, and likely bring about some great ancestor of the Tempest's to see it.

I wish you all well, and of course a Happy Christmas!

Rumour Has It / The Mist
« on: October 31, 2010, 06:37:15 am »

Days have passed, and not a single report of attacks by the mysterious Mist have been reported.

Civilians breathe sighs of relief, guards relax their vigil slightly, children play out in the streets once more.

But many still wonder, and the rumours still circulate.
Who was this mage who supposedly brought down the wrath of the Mist upon them?

What was the Mist's purpose?

More so... who was responsible for delivering the people from the Mist?

As time passes, the answer to these questions becomes lost like tears in the rain.

But surely someone somewhere must know?
Someone somewhere... must have a tale to tell... of a brave and ruthless individual, the most unlikeliest of heroe's... or perhaps not even a hero at all... who walked into the Mist, and came back out victorious.

Rumour Has It / Mist attacks in Vehl
« on: October 26, 2010, 05:52:41 am »

A massive attack by the Mist creatures occured recently on the dockside of Vehl, the attack claiming dozens of lives.

The Mist rolled in during the afternoon, catching citizens unaware as they went about their daily business. It came in fast, before people had time to react.

The Rofireinites bravely fought on against the overwhelming numbers of creatures, rescuing as many civilians as possible, before being forced to bar their doors against the creatures onslaught.

As well as such, a group of adventurer's ushered civilians and children into the One-eyed Harpy Inn, owned by the ever popular Arkolio Salvorre, and were escorted to safety aboard one of the ships in Vehl, and sailed away until the calamity had passed.

Many are mourning their dead this day.
Even more so, are now angrily asking Why this is happening.

Rumour Has It / Tragedy in Wayfare.
« on: October 22, 2010, 01:45:35 pm »
Wayfare has added its name to the list of casualties from the mysterious Mist Creatures.

The Mist struck in the day, emerging beside the pond there and spreading outwards like a blanket.
Several civilians and a small girl were caught outside, the civilians fell along the road and the little girl was slain whilst protecting her sister.
Outrage and panic has swept the old Fort, and much alike many towns and villages across all lands, guard's and defenses have been doubled until something can be done to stop these attacks.

Rumour Has It / Mist Attacks
« on: October 21, 2010, 07:29:51 am »

More and more reports of the Mist now begin rolling in from all corners of Layonara...

.. in Corsain, a merchant caravan was caught in the Mist. Several guards and escorts fell during the onslaught of the mysterious Mist creatures, but the merchants urged their horses quickly through the fog and lived to report the sighting.

On Belinara, an adventuring party staggered into Fort Mirtrix, bleeding and exhausted, telling of the Mist appearing in the middle of their camp at night. Most of their party died before they knew what was happening. The survivors only lived through the ordeal due to fleeing.

Various missing persons reports and findings of slain peoples on the road and in the wilderness have been decreed victims of this foul Mist, which various organisations now struggle to understand and trace its origins.

" I'm telling you what I saw... but you ain't listening!"
The burly farmer shouted the last at the top of his voice, standing on his tip-toes before the Wayfare militia Guard, as though increasing in size a few inches might make the information hit home.

" Alright.. alright... calm Jimbob. Just tell me again what happened."

The burly farmer grunts and sighs.

" I told ya... I was out in my fields, when I saw it. That bloody Mist! Appeared right in the middle of my field it did. Well I'd heard about it.. so I ran didn't I.. right back to my house.
The Mist covered the whole of my field.. .I mean the whole of it.. an I could hear the cows mooing and squealing.. in pain!
Well I wasn't going out there.. so I waited.. an after a few minutes, the Mist faded away... an all that were left were ma' cows! All of them.. dead.. butchered! "

" The Mist? So.. this Mist.. that so far has been attacking towns from what I've heard... decided to drop into your field and kill... your cows?"

" Thats what I'm trying to tell ya!"

Rumour Has It / Attacks on Lyn and Arnax
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:27:15 am »

The small town of Lyn and city of Arnax have joined the ranks of the recent towns hit by this mysterious "mist" and the creatures it spawns.

The town of Lyn was beseiged over a two-day period, the mist rolling into the streets and up the crags of the snowy town, spelling death for any citizens caught outside in its path.
Most of the citizens barred themselves up in their homes, the Inn and the Temple of Dorand, and special note is given to the dwarves of Dorand, who braved the mist covered streets and mysterious creatures to rescue people.

As for Arnax, the docks district was which was hit. The mist covered the whole of the docks, the mysterious creatures leaping out and slaughtering any in their path, and amidst the confusion a fire broke out which consumed one of the ships moored their.

On each occassion, the Mist departed, and the creatures spawned from within it left also, with as much warning as it appeared.

Various organisations are forming now, to delve into and discover the origins of the mist, and the purpose of the alien like creatures that dwell within it.
But without knowing where it might strike next, the chances are slim a resolution may be found.

Various towns and villages have doubled their guard and security, taking no chances should the same misty fate befall them too.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Seeking Speakers
« on: September 15, 2010, 01:15:48 pm »
A message originally brought by the wind in the trees, soon turns to the wagging of tongues and to the ears of those it should reach.

The majority of the message is such:

The rulers of the Kingdom of Kuhl have approached the speakers of the woodland realm with an offer of an alliance. The strong Kingdom of Kuhl offers peace and protection to all denizens of the Great Forest and the forest itself - and through this continuous growth, prosperity and freedom to all.

To this end, a council meeting will be held within the Great Forest, and two speakers must be chosen to represent both Dregar and Mistone, and will be given the opportunity to sway the council's decision For or Against the Alliance.

This meeting is coming soon, and to this end, Speaker's must be chosen.

Therefore, a meeting is to be held soon at the StormCrest Crossroads.

It is requested all those with their souls steeped in nature's balance should attend this meeting, to cast your vote for Speaker, or indeed, nominate yourself as Speaker, and to give all information you can to those who wish to be Speaker regarding the "Dragon Cult", their campaign's and their intentions.

If this message has come to your ears, then it is assumed you also have knowledge, or indeed have had dealings before with the Dragon Cult.

We request you also attend, and give evidence or testimony either For or Against the intended Alliance, so that the nominated Speakers may make an informed decision.

Calendar :   http://forums.layonara.com/calendar....&day=2010-9-19

// This is an open invite for all.

// If more than two Druids nominate themselves, a Vote or Dice may decide. My Character Trouble is NOT nominating himself for Speaker... so two Druids/Ranger's/Clerics of a Naturey base must be selected.

//Although anyone is invited, only Druids, Rangers and Clerics of a Nature-based Faith may Vote or Nominate a speaker.

Those not of the above may give testimony For or Against the Alliance to those nominating themselves as Speakers.

Rumour Has It / Events in Dalanthar
« on: July 18, 2010, 08:24:28 am »
Confused reports trickle in from Dalanthar to Port Hempstead, via the StormCrest portal.

Injured Boyer guards and civilians staggered into the outskirts of Port Hempstead, ranting and raving about Assassin's and Demons that sprang from the Mist, killing civilians and guards alike... and any that seemed to stray into the Mist.

Reports are vague and uncertain at this point, but it appears an assassination on a respected merchant in Dalanthar, brought about a thick Mist which consumed a section of the town and the Dalanthar Inn.
Almost all who were in the vicinity and caught within the Mist ... appear to have been slain by "creatures" that appeared with the Mist, and dissapeared when the Mist faded.

Development Journals and Discussion / Tal
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:18:14 pm »

Fort Vehl is where I find myself.

I've seen few towns on my way here from Belinara, but this is certainly one of the worst.
My experiences on route here has taught me I have to hide my face and skin.
I hate doing this.
Truly hate it.
My first aim, is to find somewhere I can be me. Without the hood. Without the mask and these ridiculous long clothes.

In the back alley's of Vehl I found a gathering. Fighters, attacking each other with their bare fists, fighting for money.
I'd hoped my little training might have given me an edge , a chance to win and earn some money.
It didn't.
I fast faster.. yes... but I couldn't harm the hulking brute I was pitted against. In the end he slammed me against a wall and a I blacked out, waking up in a mud pool where they'd thrown me.

I don't know what I was thinking. My tiny little hands against that hulk of a man? I need a blade, something small, sharp, something that will let me keep my speed and nimbleness, but do a little more harm than some soft knuckles.

Regardless, now isn't the time for it.
The town stinks. Its noisy. People come and go.
I hate it.
I long to be back in the woods. The feel of the grass and leaves beneath my feet, the birds chirping in the trees, the sunlight ebbing through the branches.
I miss it all so much.
