If everything has been dropped off and we are ready to tally, I would just like to put my bid in for the brilunar boots, the stick of yew and maybe a bit of titanium. Otherwise just the normal share of mithril after divvy and some coins for bills.

Development Journals and Discussion / Re: My book-A.F.
« on: August 11, 2019, 01:24:28 pm »
Opening the door slowly she enters the old guild hall of her family and looks down the darkened halls. Its late and the only light comes from a few flickering torches that are still sputtering in their sconces here and there as she gingerly walks down the empty halls.

"Its been  a long time i suppose..."she muses to herself as she wanders the halls of her old home. Slowly and quietly making her way to the where the living quarters used to be, her foot steps barely marking a path on the dusty floor she listens for any familiar sounds. She passes one room where someone is gently snoring, one of the live in servants or caretakers of the place she guesses.

The smells of the place have changed. More musty now it seems, and the lingering scent of someone who needs to bath...desperately, probably Mr Lance or Beli she giggles to herself, though its hard to say. She wonders if they are even still around.
As she wanders thru the living quarters...if thats what you call them now, seeming mostly empty and nice coating of dust on what furniture is left, she spies the door to her old room. At least she thinks its her old room..its been a long time after all.

Listening carefully, she gently opens the door and peeks in...no one at all. Nothing at all. It seems the room has been cleaned out. Probably awhile ago. Looking around, her eyes alight upon what shes searching for. Along the wall, there is a small board whose grain does not quite fit the pattern of the rest of the floor. Hardly noticeable if your not looking for  it. Bending down she pries the board up and out, not without some difficulty and after a few moments it pops out with a small bang. Freezing in place, she listens to hear if anyone notices...after a few moments all seems quiet still and she proceeds to root around in the hollow that has been exposed.

Her eyes glitter as she pulls out a couple of old tomes. Dusty and beat up from years of use, and years of neglect in this old hole. Rubbing her fingers across the old leather cover of one, the memories of her time spent here long ago come flooding back. After a few moments she digs thru her hidy-hole again and finds a few small things that she hid away here so long ago..a fishing lure Bear gave her causes her to smile, a small wooden carving of a wolf her uncle Dalan made for her, her first knife...made by her dad and still softly glowing with the magick that her mother imbued into it.

Tucking the items away into a pocket of her pack she quietly leaves the guild hall.

General Discussion / Catastrophic system failure....oh how i love thee
« on: December 16, 2009, 07:01:26 pm »
Hi guys,

Sorry I havent been around much. Of late..been fighting the ever evil pc destruction thinger. First it works..then it whirrs...

My system recently had a umm...meltdown for lack of a better term. O.o A word of advice...burning plastic is never a good sign.

So my pc is now DOA until i can get a new one. After 10 long years of replacing parts and much love (and hate) it finally kicked the bucket.

I am now surviving on an old mac laptop (how you macheads use these things i will never understand..im sooo confused). The right click button seems to be missing...:( :\\ O.o

Oh well, thank goodness for xmas (I have been a good little girl..mostly)!  Hopefully the new year will see me back with a shiny new pc.

Happy holidays everyone!

Just for Fun / Second Skin
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:08:05 am »
Okay...I just watched second skin the movie...its the one where they talk to people who are addicted to MMOs, fell in love with other players playing MMos, MMO gamers gathering for fun at meet and greets, etc. Mostly they are from WoW or Evercrack...but anyway, wasnt someone form Layo supposed to be interviewed for the movie or something?

I seem to recall someone mentioning it alooong time ago.

It was an interesting movie, albeit a bit slow. It actually reminded me of my old roomie and her boyfriend slacker that she met while playing EQ then invited to move in with us (i didnt know that until he showed up with his uhaul)...that didnt end so well. BUt i digress...

I was actually hoping to see who it was from our little community that was supposed to be in it, but was sad when i didnt.

Cheers :D

Oh yeah...and when is Layo-con by the way? :D I vote next week at big L's house. Nothing like a surprise convention at an undisclosed location....well..its disclosed now. ;) Im sure his wife wouldnt mind housing a few hundre...ahem..a few guests of his for the weekend! :o

Wild Surge Inn / a notice goes up at random inns
« on: February 16, 2008, 03:17:15 pm »
*A pink haired girl can be seen posting a notice on random notice boards throughout Dregar and Mistone as she travels. She seems very angry and upset, and is crying often..

Upon reading the notice (or if they cant), many ask her about it..she tells them what she was told by the aeridinites, especialy to the half-races and mixed couples she meets...

FOR THOSE MIXED RACE COUPLES AND THEIR CHILDREN

Know the truth of why you cannot have children!

Aeridin says we are corruptions of the world. That after thousands of years of life he is finally setting right the world and ending the chaos our existence sows!

We are not meant to be a part of the natural cycle....we are abominations to be eradicated! Born out of existence...if you are a mixed blood then your presence is an abomination to his natural order! If your a mixed couple, then you will not be allowed to create a corruption!

I say after thousands of years we are a part of nature's cycle! We are natural and how dare he attack us unjustly!

Ask the head priests of aeridin for the truth of it if you doubt!

General Discussion / big thanks to milty
« on: February 16, 2008, 02:59:35 am »
Big thanks to Milty for spending some quality time with Abi in Northpoint.

It was some pretty difficult subject matter and he did great dealing with an angry young woman.

But Aeridins dirty little secret is out now...So no more smile, a hug, some words about domain shifts and a shove out the door!

What will happen next...

Rumour Has It / The Mark of True Love (aka: a shovel to the head)
« on: February 06, 2008, 09:23:51 pm »
Gods...what has miss Grenna started.

The whole shovel in the head story is that it is a dwarven tradition! At least of the Rockbasher clans before they fell. Though dwarfs being dwarfs, it very well may have spread amongst other clans from the Rockbashers. Or possibly even have been from a far older tradition amongst the dwarfen nation and just finally written down into Rockbasher clan lore at that particular time in the their history.

The women would whack their men over the head with a shovel when they were least expecting it, thus claiming the male as their own. Dwarfen territoriality at its finest! :D

The bigger the lump, the better the bragging rights! It also was an indicator of the females strength of character, or madness...depending on how you look at it. ;)

When the tradition started is lost in the mists of time, but according to the Rockbasher lore, the official start of the tradition seems to have been shortly after the fall of Gerontonimus Rockbasher (formerly Kliffcarver). At the end of a gloriously brutal war with some dark elfs.

It seems his son, one Gamling Rockbasher, decided to head to war before marrying his sweetheart Hildagar Rockbasher (his 5th cousin twice removed).

Well..she was known to be quite vicious, especially after swilling her fair share of the clans ale. And single dwarfs being single dwarfs on campaign, Gamling had quite the reputation. So, to on the night before he was to head to war, there was a grand celebration. Gamling and Hildagar each drank their fair share of ale and somehow comments were spoken, as they oft are after that much ale is drunk. Hildagar took a shovel that was lying around the hall for some reason and gave a mighty whack to Gamlings head! She then stood up on the table, and in a loud booming voice (although some accounts from those brave enough, differ on how slurred it sounded) she claimed Gamling as her own and that no other dwarf female was to touch him!

Now the rockbasher clan being infamously known kuldarjh, and Hildagar also having been well known for her especially nasty temper as well as for her tasty ale. No dwarfen female who had heard the tale (and seen his lump) would come near him with a 12 foot spear! Poor Gamlings days as a ladies man on campaign came to an end.

As a caveat to poor Gamling, he finally regained consciousness some 2 days later lying on a rock. His poor comrades having to carry him on the campaign trail to Ulgrids. Woke up to a hearty meal, his beard still full of soup from where he went face down into the bowl he was drinking from.

From that time onwards, its said that if a rockbasher woman whacked a male with a shovel, no other dwarf women would go near him for fear of being attacked by a mad kuldarjh.

Now, kuldarjh being kuldarjh, of course there were the poor dwarfs who had been whacked on the head by more than one clan female. the issue was settled after much, fighting, drinking and the occasional death of the dwarf male.

Another tradition is the passing of the shovel from one generation to the next.  Providing it wasnt broken from either the hit to the head, or over use.

The modern tradition, as seen recently among the non dwarfen races seems to have started when one Miss Grenna Rockbasher decided to help a friend. Her friend, one Sharhar Cu'laire (she spoke dwarf so Grenna had a soft spot for her). Was tryingot figure out a way to tell her boyfriend how much she loved him. Well..Miss Grenna being Miss Grenna, and also being a bit drunk, related the story of her clans courtship rituals. And after much cajoling and egging, it seems miss sharhar did jsut that. She pulled out a shovel and knocked her male out with a good clean whack to the back of his head in front of her friends and declared him hers! They were married shortly after.

It has also been said, that Miss Grenna also whacked one Dalan Stoneaxe over the head with her shovel on multiple occasions showing her true devotion to him. In one case, making a young elf woman who witnessed the event to faint! Miss Grenna supposedly declared that hit a a most excellent omen, the blow being strong enough that it took out more than one person. O.o

Later, Miss Grenna having drank much ale. And again, having a soft spot for her mans neice (one Abigail Firesteed)who also spoke dwarfen, offered her the same advice. After said niece, being obviously a bit nervous about whacking her man with a shovel, sought the advice of a Miss Tegan. Well, it seems miss Grenna and Dalan got to her first, and should the lass decide to do it, miss Grenna gave the shovel to Tegan who then encouraged and gave the shovel to said niece. ;)

After a successful trip to help a family recover their baby from some goblins, Miss Firesteed pulled out her shovel and promptly gave her boyfriend Bear a solid whack on the back of his head! He still bears the lump to this day! Another sign from the gods that the match was a good one. :D

General Discussion / Happy and abigails cdq
« on: December 23, 2007, 05:09:39 am »
Just wanted to give big thanks to Happy for a great impromptu finish to abigails quest to become spellsword.

Completely unexpected!

I was expecting a few minutes to try and discover more information on her search when i asked if he had the time. Instead he went nuts and in a short amount of time and put together an awesome finish.

He has been doing it in small bits over the last few weeks and it culminated in one great time. He really let abis actions help develop the cdq and have fun with it over the course of time.

He really did a great job with it. :D

Thanks again!

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Scent feat
« on: November 30, 2007, 03:18:40 am »
I was wondering if the scent feat could be implemented to to work for rangers or if already does.

I saw that it was available for my ranger class to take when i leveled last time and was hoping to take it the next time I was able to gain a feat.

I was told it was, and according to lore, available only to the bear warrior prestige class or wemics. Later I was told PC's can take the feat, but it wont work unless you are either a wemic or a bear warrior.

My reasoning is that if a ranger is the scout/ tracker type then it would be possible for a ranger to develop this particular ability.

I RP my character using her nose alot and was going take this feat to complement her RP. But I dont want to waste a feat if it doesnt work functionally.

SO what do you think?
