" As we descended we came upon the last dwarven tunnel, a hallway that led to a large natural cavern. The hall was rough as though the cutters broke through into the cavern and left their duties of perfecting the path for another time, one that never came. Thus began a descent deeper and deeper, tunnels not dug by hands but burrowed or even eaten from the solid core of the mountain high above us lead from cavern to cavern. No more level rooms were to be found as we went down, further and further into Layonara. The simple clans and beasts from above grew scarce as deeper and fouler beasts, some that have never seen the sun, turned common and our group now trekked slowly and carefully."

About a month or so ago I tendered my resignation to Layonara team. I used to be able to crank out hours upon hours of building on top of playing the game for hours on end. These days I can't really find committed time to fulfill my duties as a full time quest GM on top of growing our little garden of NWN Layonara. I thought about clinging onto the GM seat, I really did. But all I'd end up doing is passing judgement or chiming in my steady opinion from afar without an inkling or grasp of our community. So it's time to call it quits.

When I started off with the relic based entry theme/ system, I built a good chunk of new material. It was closed and locked off waiting for completion both in building and the scripting needed to successfully implement it. Also, older material that had been converted was locked off. Since Dorg finalized 1.69 several weeks ago, I picked up the modules for one last swing and wrapped everything up that I was capable of handling on my own, with a little help on puzzle scripting from ScriptWrecked (thanks script).

The major new addition to the server is the region of the Great Spikes of the Blinding Lands, implemented as closely to Ed's team's new writings on it as I could muster knowing all the potentials of the toolset... of course with ample spins and twists on it to appropriately get an amused growl from Ed. The adventure of these northern realms is pretty neat. It's an older and perhaps simpler vibe, one that I had a lot of fun working on. And the GM who first picks up on the nature of the region and the number of quests to be had here is lucky. All in all around 70 areas that were either locked off or didn't yet exist are now in game and waiting for you. There are also a couple of new quest areas to get things kicking on quests. Beyond that it's the normal fixes here and there, trying to wrap the monster that was too hard here, and the area that needed a bit of love there.

I've had a great time working on this module, and hope you guys liked what came of v3. I'll support fixes for the next couple of weeks to make sure nothing is quirky, and after that I'll still be around playing.

So, I suppose I'll see you in there, and remember - when you find a book, take the time to read it and talk about it. It may save your life.

If anyone has logs of the event, please send them to jrizz, minerva, and chongo. I am terrible at keeping logs, and I publically apologize to everyone involved as well as Minerva for the lack of documented conversation. Any misunderstandings on her part are a result of me not having kept logs, so please bear with her on this.

Any logs of the dialogue between the guards and Muhkuman in either of the two events would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks!

Rumour Has It / The Tale of the Broken Arc
« on: June 03, 2008, 10:59:48 pm »

*A group of bards gather from around Layonara in the town of Dalanthar. A circle forms, a crowd behind, listening in awe as the sky glows red on the crumbling Horizon of the Thunder Peaks. An elf in subdued blue garb opens his mouth slowly as he stokes the fire before the crowds. His voice is melodic, composed, and suddenly as he speaks his plain garb seems to reveal the sparkling of perfectly placed hidden accents of rubies*

Listen well friends, listen well enemies... for the fate of a king of kings hangs on those horizons.. and it is by both your hands that it crumbles. It began with the High Boyer, sensing the storms of the giant known as Essrantor Aldtorskel approaching too near to the cities of his domain. He sent word for adventurers, and adventurers they came. Dozens of the best known warriors of our time heeded the call, though they knew not what stood in their path. And for that path I'll start with the end, for the beginning of things never truly start with any other place then where we've just ended no?

*He takes a deep breath as the skies darken all but his red-lit face over the fire*

Four figures stood, a grey hued giant with a stone crown upon his head, a dwarf of fire and ore, an elf of bone and flame, and the mist of a spirit of an adventurer sacrificed. Ever fading, the ghostly adventurer stood. His name was Fenrir Thornaxe, and as the story tells, he was the blood birthright of Axela and Thorn Losthammer, of the dwarves of olden spirit in these peaks high above us. Fenrir stood, fading and distant, until the king spoke the words of release, and reborn his physical being was. Behind him the mists of the veiled lake swirled about in turmoil. The sounds of crashing echoed so loudly that the hair of the many heroes surrounding waved in the wind of the noise. A tower on the horizon of the lake crumbled, and the stone of the great Thunder Peaks fell around the scene. You see... Fenrir had led the assault on Essrantor Aldtorskel the Ether Giant known for his Arc Clan. And now he stood before his Thane by blood, redeemed of a treacherous past in kin. So how did a spirit thane, a dead lord, and a olden Giant come to redeem this dwarf before his allies amongst the falling skies of Thunder? That is a tale unlike any I have told dear listeners, and not since the days of Bloodstone's fall have will you witness such deeds so heroic.

*The bard slaps his hands together over the fire, causing sparks to erupt in a swirling cloud of air over the fire* Thunder Struck! ...over the armies of three. One army to hold a pass, one army to perform the ritual, and one to storm the tower of storm itself. Their journey had been long, through deep drifts of snow, threats of falling into the wintery abysses around them, and venturing in the realm of spirit's minds of ages long past. It had begun with a battle on the outskirts of Essrantor's realm, at the foothills of the peaks. Clashing with an army of infinite horizon, the armies looked upon each other before they set off into the snows. They each knew their tasks, and they knew that'd they relied on the success of the other. Many would fall in their efforts, some would find the soul mother's grasp upon them. But the war was more important then any one adventurer, and it would be their friends who's lives would one day soon hang on the outcome of their efforts.

The first party of adventurers would seek out wisdom of old. A hammer they sought and a ritual of times past which might break the seals of Storm Tower. The second party would set off for the ruins of Losthammer in the great chasm of bridges. They would need the knowledge of the dwarven spirits from whom Essrantor had stolen his secrets. The last group would split on itself many times. For many battles needed fighting, and many questions needed answers. To uncover enemies of the Arcs they would set themselves toward so that their fight would not be in vain with such an overwhelming army ahead. This last party knew that they would one day hold the key to defending the high passes so that others might succeed, and all would hinge on their success.

The many warriors of many epic tales set off in a large group toward the ruins of the Losthammer Clan. They'd retrieved the knowledge of an ancient blood rite in which they might see the past of a kindred clan. So with the wisdom of the Runic Anvil they found themselves before the great chasm of Losthammer. The rune was drawn, the words spoken, and three dwarves of different clans spilled their blood upon the stone of Losthammer. The tale they tell is one of great wonder, for as the first drop hit, time stood still. The dwarf known as Grohin watched as his blood circled the rune, and time slowed around the group. They found themselves looking upon a scene of old, as the history of the clan reversed around them. The wars waged between the giants and dwarves upon the magnificent bridges, and they watched as the scenes unveiled themselves. A young giant, a young Essrantor, stealing the pages of the runic tome of Losthammer from scribes throughout the years. The war waging, the battles lost, their own magics and materials turned against them. The dwarf known as Fenrir Thornaxe watched as his kin fled in cowardice to save their only child, but only later would he find the truth of the scene being of his own blood. The final blood drop fell from the dwarf known as Kobal Bluntaxe, and in a grand room the group found itself, time still working it's way around their ethereal reality.

*He stamps his foot on the ground in rhythm, stoking the fire with a stick to spray sparks around into the crowd*

A Thane stood before 15 warriors and 3 lords. The walls around them thundered. The war was lost, the Thane of Losthammer now spoke of it. Behind them stood a book, the tome of so many secrets that Essrantor had now stolen. The group of heroes watched helplessly as the Thane spoke the final rites. An oath to the clan, an oath to Vorax, and they ran toward the tome in unison, a roar of dwarves echoing throughout the already deafening halls. One by one they perished, and their souls turned to fire. The oath was made you see... and they would forever defend their clanhome from the Arcs... for they had offered their spirits in a final and lasting defense. The dwarves died willingly so that they might fight forever, and the heroes now watched as their souls transformed into a lasting hatred of Essrantor.

*He claps his hands over the fire and looks to the crowd dramatically* And suddenly they stood before a dwarf of ore and fire. A soul of burning fury, demanding that they explain their use of the blood rites on the Losthammer clanhome. For the king had sensed the blood of a Losthammer, the blood of a dwarf who's soul would honorably be a spirit fighting still for the clan. He grabbed Kobal at first, lifting him by his head off the ground to look in his eyes and touch the blood from his arm, then he grabbed Grohin. Both were cast aside, thrown across the great throne room, sliding with great speed into the stone walls, and left unconcious. Finally, the king grabbed Fenrir and roared with fury and confusion. How could a Losthammer bleed blood still!

That of course, is a question that needed answering. But the story was unravelling beyond the chasm with the other parties, and not until we understand their tales will we understand where Fenrir Thornaxe's fate lied.

*The bard turns to an elderly human who steps forward with a book in hand. Without looking up he begins to read, a slow and steady elderly voice which seems to rattle with the vibrations of the winds around you.*

A few notes have I, a few tales to be told. Many of you know me as Nus, and many stories have I heard to find the peices to this tale, this tale that ends with the fires in the peaks. Hear them.

No sooner had a plea gone out for heroes to rally to the cause of Boyer when one by one, each with their own tale to tell on the why and how they were there they arrived; Argali, Jin, Ferrit, Grenna, and Arkolia.

Though none had been there to hear the pleas on behalf of Boyer they came nonetheless having heard the call for aid second or third hand. Indeed it appears they had hoped to meet with others with first hand knowledge but none were there and time was pressing that much they knew.

They petitioned Amoran IIyon, the elder sage of elven lore, for knowledge, certain that much of the lore of the rise of Assrantor could be found at Willows Weep. This information was not so easily obtained, Amoran seemed reluctant to have the group stir trouble, but soon realized the scale of events, he handed them a solitary scroll; a song, Elphonse's reposte. This it appears was the only surviving document, however it's very nature alluded to the existence of further hidden lore.

First though it demanded in verse that three key words be found to gain the support of magic, nature, and healing. The would be heroes rightly assumed this was some test of resolve and character. The secrets were held among the faithful of Aeridin at North Point, the Druids of the Wilds and a shrine to Lucinda. Time prevented them gaining nature's word and this was later to prove a troubling loss.

Solving some remaining verse they decamped to Thunder Bridge and quite out of tune I might add began singing the song...soon birds appeared and eventually a man who declared himself a wizard of the Higher Path, and duty bound to help the bearer of the scroll. He impassively revealed only that of which he was asked and then provided a way to a concealed crypt. Key words were spoken and they entered to find undead and nature's defences still intact. They fought them all without turning, without complaint, aware others needed there absolute effort. Two fell and were nearly lost forever and so when they found a runed hammer mentioned in the song they turned back, not certain they would survive if they remained. What lore lay beyond their grasp we may never find out....

By magical portal they returned to an oak that marked the way and stood in a high mountain valley...

*The elderly human coughs and takes a breath and flips to the next chapter* Counterpoint...

Below an army of Boyer was spread across the valley intent on distracting Essrantor's forces. Serg a wizard with that army quickly joined the heroes on the mountain and explained the armies movements. Torn between helping the army which looked to be in trouble or taking the hammer to the lead groups. I am told it was with no small discussion that they decided thus; the hammer was to be taken to Kobal and the lead group bypassing the army, and another group poised to divert Essrantor at a fort ahead. Bypass they did, turning aside for none they climbed, caved and sneaked there way to the lead group, and made splendid time as to be mentioned in Boyer dispatches. However they did not leave Boyer's army to certain doom for Arkolia, one of there number alone turned back to warn them of hidden dangers.

*He looks up, clearing his throat and catching eyes over the fire to be certain all listen* Boyer's Dispatches...

From the shadows four figures arrive at Kobal's campsite high in the thunderpeaks. Two half-elves, one male and one female, a human in wizard robes, and a dwarf. As they enter the light they are revealed, the Mystic Jin Lun Lee, the Scout Ferrit, the Mage Serg, and the Defender of Vorax Argali. How they reached there through the lines of giants is certainly an epic story.

"Greetings Kobal. The Grace of the Longstrider to you and your companions."

Jin Lun Lee looks over the dwarves in the group.

"Is that Master Grohin?"

"Well here I have an artifact for you. Ragnor's Hammer. As well as this poem, by the bard Elphonse."

"It is likely that this Hammer can be used to destroy the pillars of Essrantor's Veil and restore the use of the weave. The there are four rune on the hammer. The first three we have discovered: Heal-Aeridin, Magic-Lucinda, and Nature-Katia. The fourth rune we do not know and cannot read. Our best guess is that the forth rune is Craft-Dorand."

Jin hands Kobal the hammer and note. He looks across to the tower.

" You have in your hands an artifact of rune magic. May the Longstrider Guide your path that you may use it with wisdom."

*The old man slams the book shut and nods to the crowd*

The rest is a tale to be told, not now, but very soon.

*The ruby-adorned bard leaps forth toward the crowd and begins to speak*

Elsewhere, in the peaks high above the storms suddenly raged down on a band of adventurers set forth toward a different task! Seeking the kin of the Arcs they were, and they would soon indeed find them, for the cards of fate spelled doom for all, and that doom came in the form of falling snowflakes.

*His fingers dramatically wiggle from above his head down and he gazes about the fire*

The storm was relentless they say, burying the adventurers to their knees, then waists, then necks... and then the storm struck and they found themselves tumbling and turning and blowing with the winds and snows and Essrantor's rage in the form of storm itself!

*The bard tumbles and rolls about on the ground as he sees a few frightened children listening. He rolls around one of them, winking at each passing and turn of his eyes to the scared child until the young girl begins to giggle. He renews his tale and his eyes flash over the fire*

They found themselves in the whitest of white lands of snow and ice. And buried around them they found giants! But not living were these giants, but rather stone! The adventurers devised a plan, and soon they found the means to revive one. Before long their stood the proud and intelligent Ether Giants, kings amongst all, rulers of the storms and skies... still furious at the betrayal of the Arcs in times past. One stood higher then the rest, a king of kings or lord of lords!

*The bard skips to the side and gestures toward a gnome who steps forth with a parchment in hand, and he begins to read*

The Ether. Here is my record of what the adventurers told.

*The gnome takes a deep breath then begins*

Helmuut looked down. The little people faced him, and his fellow giants surrounded him.

"Sit, and I will grant both wishes."

All complied. Helmuut, standing a head taller than even the tallest Ether, surveyed the crowd.

"For what you have done,"

Now he looked directly at the humans and solitary elf staring up at him.

"I will pledge myself to your cause. I have faced no other Arc as merciless and cunning as Essrantor. You will need all the help you can get, though I fear you may have brought us back only to have us march back to a swift demise. Now, as to the state in which you found us. I should begin with a small bit about the history between the Ether and the Arc. Though cousins by divine creation, we are not family. Enemies. Ours is a relationship built on an eternal feud. Of all giant-kind, none can compare to the cunning and wit of the Arc. None except the Ether."

Hemuut paused. He spread his arms, each one thick as a tree trunk.

"We are all that remains of the Ether that settled the mountains you call the Thunder Peaks. The Arc's jealous hatred wittled us down into near extinction. And herein lies the distinct difference between the Ether and the Arc: We, the Ether, crave peace and learning. The Arc craves nothing but power. Though we were truly no threat to them, in the mind of the Arc we are an afront to their supremacy, not to be subjucated like all other creatures, but hunted, tortured, and killed. We fought back, of course, but we are admittedly not as skilled in killing. Such has never been the focus of the Ether.

"As I said, we are the last, were the last, and thus at the time I made a decision. Two pillars of thought supported this decision. The first is that we, as a people, were destined to die at the hands of the Arc, and we had no where else to go. The Arc followed the Ether to these peaks, and we had no reason to believe they would not chase us were we to leave. The second is that we believed the destructive nature of the Arc would eventually lead to their demise. Such is the natural way of things. We did not, however, anticipate the rise of Essrantor.

"I decided, and the Ether agreed, that we should go into hiding until such a time that the Arc had moved on or destroyed themselves. Knowing that if we yet lived, the Arc would find us, we chose to die, if but for a time. We turned ourselves into stone. Granite statues to outlive the ages, and buried ourselves in the mountain snow. Only one remained alive."

Again, the great giant paused, this time bowing his head. A stillness settled over the gathered. Even the mountain winds hiss became a whisper. The moment passed, and Helmuut began anew. He spoke a name, loud and reverant and sad.

"Rorch. My son. A talented weaver of the Al'Noth. He would hide himself in magic and lie in wait until such a time that he might release us from our self-inflicted curse. You can imagine my surprise when it was not my son but an elf that restored me to flesh. But then you tell me what Essrantor has done. Severing the Al'Noth doomed Rorch. He had poor health for an Ether, a fact he made up for with his grasp on the Al'Noth. Had he tried, I suspect he would not have survived the trek down from the mountains without the use of the magic. He must have realized this, and chose instead to die near us, as you found him, a statue of ice instead of a statue of stone. My son, my loyal son, who can never be replaced. If we survive the attack on Essrantor, the Ether will take the proper time to mourn him, and I will open for him with my bare hands a proper grave in the mountain cliffs.

Helmuut squated down, yet even like this, only the tallest humans could look him in the eyes, those great orbs of green that pierced the adventurers Helmuut now faced, sincerity and determination flooding their senses.

"Rise, small ones, and face me. I have answered both requests. Now you must tell me everything you know of Essrantor and your fight with him, that I may devise something to help in the coming battles......."

*The gnome bows and steps into the shadows as the ruby adorned bard takes a long drink of ale and presses on in his tale*

Meanwhile in the peaks other battles were being waged, other tasks brought to measure.

In the thick mists of the valley fellow adventurers were vying in a political struggle for the allegiance of the large bandit village we of Dalanthar have come to despise. It was rumored that a relic of the runes was kept amongst the bandit lords, and that should it take blood, it must be retrieved for those above to succeed.

*The bard scratches his head a moment and looks around*

I did tell the tale of their goal and cause aye?

*A man, wobbling drunk in the crowd yells "no!" and the bard jumps up on a boulder by the fire*

The pillars you see! They were to fell the pillars of antimagic. For with the pillars gone, so would the magic and domain of Essrantor, and the Boyer Kingdom safe from rogue lords of the peaks.

So you see.... these rune were the peices of puzzle to break the many curses laid upon the pillars of storm tower, the pillars that once shot into the sky with antimagical energy so great the world has never again witnessed!

The adventurers in the mists prevailed you see, and both rune and allies they secured.

*He jumps down from the boulder and hovers again over the fire, using it to illuminate his face dramatically for the audience*

Another group of the armies of adventurers had in these times found their way up Warrior's Ridge to seek council with the great glacier dragon of the peaks. Once a myth, the drake Iliarn was known to sleep on the mountainside, resting and creaking, covered in the ice of old as he slid down toward the lowlands below. This, of course, is partly false. For the Drake known as Iliarn is not the glacier, but he does indeed sleep within it's snows.

Within the halls of coldest ice and wind these adventurers delved in search of the drake. They had a task, to secure the last of the old allegiances... the great dragon spirit Granarock the Silver. They knew not how to call this spirit, nor if he would hear their request in aid against Essrantor. Nor even did they know if the ancient Iliarn would know the means to call his part-kin dragon of old, or if he would desire to aid them.

You see... Iliarn has been known for some ages by adventurers.  Reclusive, impatient, unwilling to speak to the mortals of the lands below. Sliding beneath the ice and snow of the land he rests, avoiding all save for what he must eat. But the adventurers delved into his caverns, and called forth for his meeting.

*The bard jumps forth and rattles a young boy's shoulders in vibration*

The earth trembled! The ice of the cavern's ceiling crumbled... and suddenly! *He points behind the crowd to the distance* ... a sight rarely seen appeared on the horizon... something moving beneath the snows, through the ice... a large beast burrowing below toward them. *The bard claps his hands loudly* And suddenly the ice drake Iliarn shot forth from the snows below to stand before the adventurers.

Would he know of the means to call the olden Granarock... would he aid the adventurers... or would they be eaten in their insolence of entering his domain....

That is a tale you will soon find the end to...

But first we turn our eyes to the tombs below the ancient grove, and a runestone in Fenrir's hand.

The weeping widow kneeled, blue tears of magic everlasting dripping forth toward the puddles forever swirling below her. Wisps of written words swirled in the pools of tears, words that spoke of the sorrow of the Le'tennodins.

Fenrir stood with his group of adventurers before the two runestones of warding which blocked the entry into the Le'tennodin Catacombs. Their venture they knew was hopeless, for most of them knew of what lay beyond... the foes of undeath that even the bravest and capable of heroes knew to fear. Only three times before had adventurers dared brave the catacombs... and always would they turn in fear or carry the body of a friend away, their souls gone forever.

He pulled the runestone from his pack, and held it to the stones before him. He knew not what to do, but he recited his willingness to succumb the magic of the Losthammer Rune. At once he doubled up, seizing on the floor in agony they say. He could not breath, he could do naught but writhe on the floor in pain. And soon he lay dead. The adventurers amongst his group were horrified, for the means to their salvation were to have laid in the magic of this rune and Fenrir's blood. Strange and old winds began to pass over his lifeless body, his skin and body began to wither away. And then he lay, but a skeleton on the ground.

*The bard goes silent and leans back from the flames and into the shadows of the crowd, allowing silence to fall over them. Suddenly he springs forth from the other side of the crowd with a loud clap*

It stirred! The bones of Fenrir stirred and rose, and he found his voice still within, his mind still within. He looked down at his hands of bone... even then they seemed to be still withering away, and a light aura incapsulating him. The group of adventurers were in shock, their dwarven friend now in the clutches of apparent undeath. Fenrir now passed beyond into the realm into Essrantor, his allies followed. The Keepers... the most dangerous of undead stood at the entrance beyond, their headless bodies seemingly staring at the adventurers as they approached.

Fenrir spoke, he spoke that he of the Losthammers had come to call on Le'tennodin's allegiance still. The hall fell silent for an uncomfortable time... then the echoes of voices in unison peirced through the silence.

"And how is it that a Losthammer defies the curse of the Ether abomination and enters these hallowed halls..."

Fenrir held the hammer of Cainforge Mountlus Losthammer and spoke, that he was the last of the Losthammers and he had come to call on the allies of old. The Keepers were distant, their minds almost an echo of reason... but they heard the ring of the hammer of old and told the party of their allowance to pass. But fear they should this group of the living... for the minds of the cursed below would not hear the voice of ally nor friend.

And so the adventurers passed beyond into the darkness of the catacombs.

What would happen to them you wonder? Aye, as I heard it from their mouths I wondered it as well. But the night has been long, and the many children of our fine audience show weakening gazes. Tomorrow we bards of the lands will assemble again, and tell the end to this tale of ages.

*The bards of the circle bow and smile to the applause around them, as the crowd withers into shadows under moonlight, candles lighting in windows of the town in succession as the crickets come out again to dominate the silent landscape of noise under the peaks of broken thunder.*

Thank you to Mixafix and Milty for their contributions thus far.  More to come with the rest of the tale.

Rumour Has It / A Mountain Crumbles
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:34:51 am »
Reports from Dalanthar tell of a swirling mass of cloud that spiralled over the Thunder Peaks for two days straight before bursting into flame and then disapating into a strange mist that descended like a thick fog onto the lands stretching from Highpass Fort to Hurm.

Reports tell that explosions of a battle could be seen from Dalanthar in the high peaks, they even tell of seeing at least one mountain top crumbling into the clouds below.

Adventurers had been seen going in great forces towards the peaks prior to these events, but few have heard what actually occurred to cause such a force of magic and nature.

General Discussion / Essrantor's Veil Quest Announced
« on: May 03, 2008, 01:44:15 am »
WELCOME TO THE QUEST SERIES: ESSRANTOR'S VEIL

For the past several weeks, a group of several GM's have been working with the writing team and lore experts to develop a quest series that would impact the lands you travel on Layonara. This series contains 11 individual quests, which are tied intricately to each other, hinging on each other's success.

The quest will begin with the High Boyer designating his esteemed counciler for war, Raker Estoum, to put forth the call of aid in a time of impending threat. The quest begins with that alone, an audience with one of the most highly respected individuals in the Boyer Kingdom at Boyer's Fort.

This quest will impact the world around you. It will play upon developing plotlines, and at it's conclusion - the lands of the Boyer Kingdom will face the changes that have sprung from your own efforts. It will require wit, perseverance, teamwork, and sacrifice from all the players involved.

So how does this work?

There are 11 quests in this series. They will occur next week at varying times that allow for attendance in all timezones. The introductory quest will cause several groups with different tasks to split up. This feeds into the other quests.

The separate quests will involve the groups designated to the task, and that group will be time bubbled in that lone plotline.

You can not attend quests that are outside your designated group.

There are three major branches to the quest, and in each below, you will see that the quests are each designated to a specific branch. This is the progression of each branch in all of it's quest segments.

There are three Finale's to this series, all feeding time bubbled repercussions of each success or failure from the other branches. While some are oriented towards higher levels, and other lower levels... the nature of the series is that every quest branch is critical towards the success of the series. They are all tied together, and if one branch fails, dire consequence faces the others.

So all participants be aware - your actions count.

Each GM will be posting their quests on the Calender shortly. There may be some minor changes to times or days, so be flexible with your GMs. Sign up accordingly, and find a series or branch that seems right for you, or strikes the right chord for you. They have some vague details attached, and we'll be working with all of you to assure that everyone finds a home.

The introductory quest will create many of the groups, so prepare for flexibility in this as well. And yes, if you can't attend the introduction, there is opportunity to still join in.

The GM's that can help answer questions are those running or helping run each segment of this series:

- Chongo

- Miltonyorkcastle

- Osxmallard

- Jrizz

- Mixafix

- Makashi

- Darkstorme

- Tanman

Good luck, and get ready.

________________________________________________

THUNDERING HORIZONS

From afar, the High Boyer looks from his window to think upon the view his eyes behold. An anvil of cloud forms over the Thunder Peaks as the winds grow colder and pour forth in all directions. The wind pours through and onto his face, colder then ever before, colder then it should rightfully be. Such risk the heights above, but such risk to avoid them any longer. The time for a battle of ages has come.

General Discussion / Seasonal Reminder: Inventory Lag
« on: March 30, 2008, 10:16:12 pm »
Hey folks, many of you have been causing impressive lag when you log into the server.  Upon looking in some folk's inventories, the 300 boxes filled to the brim is not a good idea.

Let's do some personal house cleaning for the betterment of the server.

I'm going to begin pulling folks aside that are above and beyond on the jam-packed inventories pretty soon, and I'll encourage the rest of the GM staff to do so as well to try and help with server lag.  We have exceptional servers that Leanthar and company have established for this world.  They are far and away beyond what most gameworlds will offer and we ought to all do our part in helping their performance.

Just because that aloe leaf is there waiting to be plucked... or that 7th iron shortsword is sitting on the dead creature - it doesn't mean you *have* to pick it up and store it away for eight months before realizing that you've outgrown it.  Or realizing that you are perpetuating your own problems in an economy where you won't ever be able to sell it due to supersaturation.

 Thanks folks.

Layonara Server / Mandatory Item Ox List
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:44:10 am »
Folks, I apologize for this, but due to balance concerns with some of the items I'd created in the August update, we'll requiring anyone owning one of these items to immediately place it on an ox pack to be reset to it's new values.

 - Jorel's Sheath
- All Dragon Scales
- Lihariatxolilal's Ring
- Death's Visor
- Enchanted Mithril Ore
- Hraykilar's Blessing Belt
- Iliarial's Blade
- Lost Clan Rune Shield
- Rags of Rage
- Shard of Hray's Portal
- Stone Sheath Boots
- Vreliaxlia's Silver Sword
- Wyvern's Tail

 Directions:

 1) Get an ox.  If you have one of these items... I know you can afford it.
 2) Place the item in the pack that can be taken off of the ox.
 3) Remove the item and you have the new properties.
 4) Yes, you will have to redesign it... and again, I know you can afford it.

I do apologize for the inconvenience and take full responsibility for the overdone items.

Thanks for working with us on this.  We'll give you a two week grace period to read this message, at which point items noticed that are the old versions will be taken from your inventory.  I would like to *not* see people using enchanted mithril ore or like items for the next two weeks and then ox'ing them last minute.  That's lacking in the coolness factor.

 Thanks again.

General Discussion / Update
« on: February 27, 2008, 04:09:01 pm »

Soon the canyons of isles once only seen on the horizon will close in around you, the steady breeze from a channeled and ancient wind pressing against your face.

And soon, you'll find why no ships sailed there before...

As the chittering of cunning foes echoes in the high cliffed forests around you...

And only passing moments of peace are found to admire what you've naught seen before.

Soon old enemies will take new forms.

And perhaps a few new tricks they'll have learned just like you...

You'll seek out their new domains with much wonder..

And perhaps... you will learn again to run...

And then run faster...

And yet faster....

Until you can no longer run.

I'll see you all in there soon enough.  Look for Dorg's big announcement!  Look for the new spells bursting in the air around you, the new monsters thundering towards you, the flicker of an unseen relic on the ground, and ever the expanding horizon of new lands.

:)Be careful out there folks.:o

General Discussion / Did I Say the Final Stroke of V3 Before?
« on: December 12, 2007, 06:22:53 pm »

I again find pictures a good snare for you unfortunate readers.  Thanks to the work by numerous developers on the Layonara Team, there's another update coming soon.  So I suppose that last update was not the final stroke after all!

I'll leave it to Dorganath to give you the full update on what's new when the time comes.  Until then, a few screenshots to let you know what's coming.

See you in these regions soon enough.

General Discussion / Wide Eyes and Grabby Hands
« on: August 26, 2007, 11:22:36 pm »
Folks, I know that new stuff is pretty exciting.  I also know that the fact that there's been a slight shift in magic level is a rather enticing proposition for adventure.

There's nothing wrong with this.  The excitement is a good thing and the increase in adventure is a good thing.

But, let's keep the spirit of things going.  And hey, I get wide eyes too, so don't think I'm declaring myself the official angel of Layonara.  Yet there seems to be some pretty mindless interactions going on, and I know that everyone that's a part of them can do better.

An example of this would be when a GM initiates a fairly significant plot level impromptu... don't kill the creature and continue in debating the loot drops, what was found, and getting out your dice.  On a scale of 1 to 10 on improper playstyle, I call this an 8.  "Whoa, a rift has opened and a shadow of reality has emerged... and we killed it... 1d100 for the boots then guys?"

I understand situational levels of roleplay: someone has to go, you're tired, it's bedtime, whatever...

But let's not make this the trend.

You are 100% wasting your life if you let the wide eyes dictate your time on Layonara.  When it's all said and done, at some point you've seen it all, you're level 40, you've seen and had every item, you've seen and killed every creature... what do you have left?  The community, and good conversation.

"Less is more." (HB)

I struggle to fully embrace this concept at times myself, but it's certainly something that we should all be trying at with some vigor.

Fun fun, see you in there.

General Discussion / Hey Folks, Server Level Requirements
« on: August 23, 2007, 12:14:15 am »
Please read this post for details on level requirements with the new server dynamic.

This may be altered a bit more as time goes on, as we're still figuring out the general dynamic of the new regions as well as the east/central merge.

So, so many graves north of the crossroads...  :(

Thanks in advance for getting up to speed on this.

General Discussion / Weary of Friendly Fire
« on: July 20, 2007, 11:51:10 pm »
I hope you folks find this constructive.

I'm getting a little weary of the blind pokes from the wings.  And it's towards one thing in particular: That roleplay has depreciated on this server.  I don't care who's saying it or whether they have more or less experience on this server then I do, I'm just a bit weary of that sentiment.

Now, I haven't been here as long as a few of you, but I've been playing NWN since it came out and Layo for the majority of it.  Here's what I've noticed of what goes on in any module:

 - There are new players
 - There are old players
 - There are plenty of players in the middle
 - There are young people
 - There are old people
 - There are those suffering from college omniscience
 - There are snotty people
 - There are brown-nosers
 - There are anti-establishment ranters
 - There are quiet people
 - There are nice people
 - There are people that rp more then adventure
 - There are people that adventure more then rp
 - There are people that think adventure can not be rp
 - There are anti-progressionists or those edging towards it
 - There are powermongers or those edging towards it
 - There are people who play 10 hours a day
 - There are people who play 1 hour a week
 - There are people who get along
 - There are people who don't get along

There are people you end up loving, likewise there are those that rub you like rough grain sandpaper.

There are all sorts of personalities and people and varying tenures and maturities that have been on Layonara at any given point in its online existance.  Same goes for every other server.  These roles and this variety has never changed in it's overall percentages from what I've seen, it's always a true mixed bag.

Likewise, there are the all too common sentiments always bouncing around:

 - We don't roleplay enough
 - We are too harsh on rules
 - The cliques are unbearable
 - There isn't enough community
 - Things aren't balanced
 - Devs need to be more open
 - Devs need to use more discretion
 - XXX gets preferential treatment
 - XXX shouldn't be where they are
 - XXX dev(s) are out to get me
 - And of course:  Us versus them, in any of it's myriad forms
 - And finally: Times have changed for the worse

If I spent more then 5 minutes hatching this I'm sure I could list a hundred more, all bouncing back and forth against each other in the ongoing pendulums of opinion and emotion.  The same themes passing by, generation after generation of players and devs alike.  It's the last one that usually makes me chuckle, but as of late is growing tiresome on my ears.

"Times have changed for the worse".  I've heard this many times, and it comes in generation-based waves usually.  The thing that always irks me is not so much the ignorance or self-righteous tone it usually takes, but the contradiction it typically puts on their grievance.  Whatever their issue, most often depreciation of roleplay or playerbase, they usually voice this before or during their departure from the server, which is usually just proving themselves quitters who never quite got it.  And here's why.

Generations come and go.  They attain server lore, they participate in events changing the server.  On a server like Layonara where there is so much player impact, the server shapes itself around them.  Usually it's a particular era of players, people that became their own little adventuring company during those times.  They become the center of roleplay focus, not based so much on their *ability* in roleplay, but by the fact that they are so engrained in things and happenings on the server.  And in these little era's coming and going, there seem to be a few trends.

Many head towards development for the server since they've helped shaped it during their era.  Some get sucked into development so far that they don't re-emerge.  Slowly the adventuring companies of 'old' wither, "this dev doesn't log onto play enough, this guy got bored and left, this guy started playing another game, we can't do anything without the people who don't play as much anymore," etc etc... while there's still a core group struggling to hold on.  Some adapt, some leave.  And I honestly can't forgive the excuses of 'the server has changed for the worse' before departure.

The correct response has luckily happened for the majority, and can be summed up  as:

What did XXX player do when his favorite RP and adventuring buddies left or moved onto pure development?  He picked up new players, gave them a chance, brought in new generations of server shapers, and continued to have fun.

Generations come and go.  Eras of lore come and go.  It is not an easy thing.  It is not easy to find your favorite individuals moving on.  But get off the high horse, roleplay is not depreciating, the server is not changing for the worse.  The excuse of roleplay caliber is age old inaccuracy.  If you simply let new people in they find their ground, probably at the same pace you did.

People saying this have just lost their immediate reminders of identity.  There are always going to be the different types of players coming and going;  good, bad, experienced or inexperienced.  There is always going to be the same percentages of those types of players coming in.  These sentiments are a pretty simple matter, you think the community has lost it's sense but it's you that has lost your sense of community.

Community is always going to be changing.  To be a long standing player on any server, you need to accept this.  Community is bigger then just one generation, just look at the progression of Layonara.

Now, in all of this I will make one concession.  A significant chunk of the Bloodstone era generation, the people that shaped a lot of the lore we have grown to know... they are gone.  Some left around or immediately after the fall of Bloodstone, Reventage for example.  Some have just recently not so much left, but have moved into development of the new Layonara, Rhizome or Orth for example.  They log in now and then, but not like it used to be.  And hey, I get it.  It's a downer, those are the people I really miss adventuring with.  And they do hold a lot of the server lore for their eras of gameplay that we currently regard as Layonara history.  Our personal sense of lore has definitely hit a struggling point due to this change.  And yes, it's a downer.

And in this concession I will say that we could in fact use some change, that some of the "let-down" complainers may have some footing, however poor their delivery.  Plot quests need to be reinvigorated, perhaps redelegated to bring forth new and motivated blood.  Generations of players need to be fostered through a server-wide cause.  Once it was Bloodstone, the mainstay of plotlines to maintain that community gathering point.  I will conceed this, that things could be worked on in this sense to bring forth some cause.  There are so so many players just waiting in the wings, waiting to find some cause to get back in there.  For some it's the update.  Fair enough, I can't say I can criticize that heh.   For others it's apparently roleplay, and the simple solution to that folks is to just log in and try it.  But yeah, I'll go with it, we could use some plotline cause, so however misguided this roleplay sentiment may be, I can somewhat see an issue in it all.

But the community is still there.  The caliber is the same as it's always been and there are a lot more individuals waiting in the wings to surprise you with their roleplay.  It's not like the people sticking with NWN after all this time are the click-happy powermongers looking for more.  More graphics, more monsters, more killing!   No, it's the people looking for community.  To any of you calling out the depreciation of roleplay, wake up.  Find your sense of community instead of needing the last generation of players to hold your hand through it.  Honestly, step it up.   Instead of floating on the outskirts proving yourselves not of the caliber you preach... step it up.  Talk to the new player, the younger generation, do what the generation we hold in such high regard did before us and continue to help the Layonara community find new roots.

Layonara Server / V3 Testing and Practices
« on: July 17, 2007, 05:28:53 pm »
As many will have noticed, the past few days have had the planes server live with the new module up for testing.

There may have been some miscommunication in how this is/ was done, and I'd like to clarify the goals, means, and outcome so that there's no confusion.

The major goal of testing a major server alteration is to find bugs.  The secondary goal is to test balancing issues.  Now bear in mind we've had hundreds of area changes or additions, hundreds of item/ creature changes or additions, and generally just a lot of changes.  This breeds bugs.  Additionally, there is a server merge that has happened.  This breeds bugs as well.

So, after the 4 days of testing, which has now been closed, the testers have found about 40 legitimate bugs and offered dozens of suggestions on balance.  Prior to that, there were individual balance tests with a different test group that merely spawned new creature groups in front of them to thoroughly examine balance issues.  This aspect has been going on for about 3 months in a very gradual process.

Why is it important to have a small test group before opening it up to an entire server?  Well, let me give you a good example.  There was a bug with the server merge that was basically limbo'ing characters to a nonexistant server in a way that the only solution was to either have Dorg fix it it, or to have a GM catch them on login, and try to kill them quickly so they could respawn.  I can't really think of a better example as to why testing needs to be done in a closed environment.

In the final testing most of the tests dealt with fairly epic areas.  I selected a group based on class roles, appropriate levels for these tests, and timezone matches.  No additional players or GM's were allowed in since the major idea behind an update is reinvigorating the new and exciting.

Individual XP was logged at the beginning of testing, and XP returns are currently being dealt with now that testing is over.  Groups weren't allowed to loot, but you'd better believe the nosey ones peeked at drops...and hey, there's a lot of exciting new stuff in there so you can't blame them.  DT's, of which there were many, are being returned.  This is only fair since, for one, there is little reward in testing, and two, half the deaths were bug related and the other half are due to them being forced into CR 34 areas with just 4 people level 30 and under.  Which was at least humorous to watch.  O.o

Being part of a test group has advantages and disadvantages.  A typical advantage folks will point out is that they get to see everything first.  I'd like to offer the major counter to that, which is that while they see everything first, it's not as natural as seeing it in the actual game, it is typically riddled with disruptive bugs, and they basically aren't doing it on their character's own terms.  Which is a major downer in my opinion and something I have always disliked since it can steal a good bit of the magic out of it.

Anyhow, many thanks to the testers.

General Discussion / The Final Stroke of V3
« on: June 05, 2007, 12:00:53 am »

I've always found pictures to be a good snare for you unfortunate readers.

I've been on three servers where they announced plans to at some point end their module progress. What I've found is a typical response from the playerbase, including myself. Interest in progression of your own character lessens, and the sudden reminder of the server mortality usually hits me for about a two week depression.

There's a lot of major differences here however. First, the timeline put on NWN is of our own making. The new medium for Layonara is a massive effort very good people are working on. But it is going to take time since it is such a massive effort. And it's not two months, or six months... it's a long time. I hope the team working on it doesn't mind me saying that. NWN truly is in the hands of the players here. And this brings me to the second major difference. Layonara is continuing. The campaign and histories are continuing. The histories your characters are creating and helping to build are continuing. Characters of your own making are going into the very written history of Layonara. Look around. We *are* Layonara. This is not a plug pulled.

What is going to keep us going is simply the continuation of motivation. Any way you slice it you're playing Layonara, be it this generation or the next. Had you found out that v3 would've been a character wipe, would you have fled? How many of us have started new characters since that discussion and found them in late stages of their life, engrained in the server, fulfilled. A lot of us I'd say. This is absolutely the same thing. I mean, Ketil is barely over a year old. I think of the time I've had playing him, and sure I want more, but that was a really really good year I've had with him. The same opportunity is in front of each of your characters right now. People just tend to get down when they see some finality to a character, it's something we don't like to admit as being possible. But we're talking about a *long* time here. Get over that sense of impending closure and realize it's not changing the game for you whatsoever.

We play here for the community and that is what we must retain. Levels, progression, everything tangible to a single character ends up falling back on your interest in the community when it's said and done. When you've seen it all, when you have no more surprises around the corner, it is the surprise from a trusted and dynamic community that you will find your interest has been in this whole time.

I know what the pessimists will pick out of the big announcement post, as they like whispering it in my ear now and then. Timelines, character closure, last update... things of that nature.

So let me shed some light on some realities on the update side of it that you haven't been able to see yet. For you players playing here in the years of 2004-2006, think of the updates you witnessed. The new scenery, it wasn't all that major. Mind you, a lot was going on, the game was being refined, scripting was allowing greater diversity and variation of gameplay, on the whole the NWN engine was being perfected for Layonara. Then came the V3 announcement. The initial update for V3 is what you have seen so far. It seemed like a significant change for some, the pessimists did their pessimism thing and probably complained about rangers or barbarians or bards *winks*. Some were blown away by the change in appearance. Most were merely excited about the newfound source of motivation.

I usually stick to that middle crowd, complaining. That said, this "final" update, this conclusion to the major push for V3 of NWN, it's been worked on for several months. Several months where wives, husbands, coworkers or bosses of those working on it narrowed their eyes at the bags under eyes or the far away looks. I know for a fact that my wife is plotting a detailed sabotage of the server machines, bioware, Leanthar's house, and the developer of our computer to top it off. It's a big update that took a lot of work.

This update is more substantial then what you're used to. It's quite likely the most substantial percentage change of material in NWN Layo to this point. And that's what I'm mostly going to be talking about here.

Updates come and go, and with version changes they hit surges. We didn't hit all the changes proposed for the V3 vision. That's clear to everyone. Kingdoms, farming, etc.... they never hit home. But updates also hit lulls. Lulls where there's not a ton to do. I can say with confidence that in the grand scheme of what V3 was realized as, this is the typical final stroke before the standard lull. We've made the important stuff hit home, we've made the core of V3 hit home. So to hit the stuff we should be concentrating on...

The Scope of the Final V3 Update

What's new, what's different, and why should I be excited? Well Leanthar detailed the percentage changes on the servers. Bear in mind that this is a massive amount when compared to other updates you've seen. I don't want to go into the unknowns and mysteries that are in there waiting, it ruins most of the fun, but I can detail what they mean for you as players.

 Belinara and Dregar

These have been merged. I actually view this as a plus because communication and grouping will be on the rise. Green tells or not, being a server apart limits grouping, and I'm glad to see the merge. More importantly, you are looking at huge rebuilds and added material. The first time you travel to Arnax you are going to immediately be hit with the changes with some impressiveness. Travelling north, you will be lost. It's a good thing. Dregar has likewise seen some major changes, I'm not going to tell you much about them. I can just say that the adventure is going to be new, exciting, and if you thought the new Firesteep was something... you ain' seen anything yet.

Obviously new material is great, but a lot more has been done. Traffic has been funneled in ways that will pool people for roleplay and roleplay adventure. Thematic environments have been added, those places that naturally attract people for myriad reasons, and promote that magnet for roleplay.

A few ambassadors for lore that we have all grown accustomed to listening to over the years have been made aware of the specific histories and themes of some of these grand new schemes on Dregar and Belinara. Look to them, you know who they are. Follow them to the new focal points for roleplay and adventure, prepare for the new adventures, and better yet the new campfires and places we'll come to know and love and gather at.

 The New Balance

The balance of the world has not shifted in any wild manner. What has been done is the empowering of particular classes that until now have been left wondering why they are so unable to deal with the world around them. It's not a matter of changing a class, or limiting another. It's a matter of creating environments that foster certain character types that may have been limited before. Where and how? You'll figure that out quite fast I'm guessing. To what scale are we talking here? A massive scale. I'm fully aware of the woes of melees, the fact that a party of one class can do all while the party of all another class can do naught. You'll see role reversals in this regard, without taking anything away from a certain class. But it will be a new and dynamic set of environments that will let all characters have their shining moments instead of being left in the dark on all occasions. Additionally, a slight shift in magic level will be realized. It's not profound, since anything profound would be a true mistake. But some class characteristics have met with limitations given magic levels, and the bar has been slightly raised. Be patient, meet the adventure head on, and look forward to a big smile here and there. Even you rangers. I am very proud of what people have come together to achieve on this front, and all I can say is that I'll see you all at the crossroads.

 Epic Themes and Adventures

Creating themes for epic characters has always been a problem, everywhere in NWN, whatever roleplay-based server you might be on. There seem to be only two speeds in epic adventure and challenge: 1) Everyone in your group dies ultra fast, or 2) Everything you're fighting dies ultra fast. NWN is what it is and it's hard to combat the tempo of adventure in epic levels. Roleplay is limited due to the tempo of epic grouping.

But there are themes, hidden themes here and there, that will bring new dynamic to epic adventure. Thought process, lore, decision making, the demands of what roleplay servers should be. It's the best possible that people can do with NWN and I'll say that in full confidence. Look forward to those massively epic adventures, and enjoy the new style of play. That said, good luck finding them.

Oh, and additionally, the bar has been raised all you epics. Every CR abounds, finally. Have fun, and don't be hasty or the soul mother will steal your company from the rest of us.

Leanthar's courtesy in informing the community of plans in motion that will not be seen by us for a long time I deem a gesture of faith in the playerbase here. Our server here is made by the motivation of the playerbase and the higher standard of gameplay that continues to grow. Realize that Layonara is here to continue, in two ways. In one, NWN will keep going for some time to come, Leanthar was just gracious enough to share the full picture of things. A long time! Don't get down because the doc just told you that people typically don't live past 100. Appreciate your time and the people you're sharing it with. And in the other way, Layonara persists. It has blown through the roof of being held by a single game engine, and the histories we have all come to be a part of look as though they will continue far beyond the lifespan of a single engine. And this is something we should all be grateful for.

I'll see you at the crossroads soon. There's a lot of new adventure for us to enjoy. Oh, that's right, and it's coming in the next few days.

General Discussion / Positive Vibes
« on: May 03, 2007, 04:17:30 am »
I've seen an incredible amount of motivation from numbers of people in the past few weeks.

I don't care what anyone says, it's there.

The issue, and this whole declining attitude, is that everybody is feeding off each other's negativity.  All the while, the folks working incredible projects or more importantly working miracles of roleplay in game are keeping their mouths shut because they're either too busy or too complacent.

There are incredibly fun things going on, and it has to work on all sides to make sure everyone feels it.  The people having a great time in game need to spread it around.  They need to realize the motivation they give each other in a bright spark of good roleplay, and probably divert their attention to making sure it's there for others.  The people who are acting a bit edgy in game need to snap their fingers near their ears and wake up.  And hey!  I'm not innocent!  Next time I'm in game and find myself off on east by myself doing nothing but wailing god knows what, I need to snap my fingers near my ear!  We all do at times and we all know how things could be better.  We've all had the glowing moments.  You just need to get that smile on your face because you know inside what this game can be like if everyone just snaps their fingers at once.  Because we definitely feed each other's moods, and it's a quick spiral downwards if folks stay down, and the opposite is just as true.

I'm not ignorant, I know things come in waves.  And I know everyone has their time to shoulder the burden of keeping spirits up.  You think it's anything new that in a time of server changes there's a decline in motivation?  That the people usually on the forefront of maintaining excitement are perhaps so nose-deep in things that they're not out there with constant reminders of how great things have been, are, and will be?  Heck no!  It's always like this, on every update, change, and evolution on every server I've been a part of.  And there shouldn't be one shred of surprise in this.

But I will say this, and it is a pointed statement.  It's the best of communities that keeps it together and picks up slack.  It's the best of communities that doesn't come bickering to the forums about some player or group of players but instead heads out with open arms to that despised person or people and instead tries to bring them into the fold.  It's not hard.  We weren't all born unto roleplay greatness and internet morality.  It takes some time and it takes a good community to help *everyone* find their place.

I could post up pictures of this that and the next beautiful thing to come, but they're all empty areas, and monsters without theme, meaning, or any real reward... without people that are happy to be here.  And heck yeah I'm excited about these things people are working on and getting ready to put out there, but it all breaks in one swift blow over our knee if the motivation of the community isn't there when it comes.

Be positive, show your best, spread the vibe.  I'm no hero in this sense but I'll try a bit harder too.  It's a fun ride uphill if we can just carry each other.

And I sincerely thank every single person who is already working at this or reads this and maybe goes in game and tries to get things going positively, or remarks on IRC with things that will keep the positive vibes circling around.  It takes a village, and there are no exceptions.  We are all one community.
