Rumour Has It / Emissary sent to Orc tribes in Orc's Rift
« on: April 25, 2010, 04:46:24 pm »
A half orc tracker employed by Adder on behalf of the Arm of the Ram makes his way into Orc's Rift to contact representatives of several of the resident Orc tribes. He conveys a sense of outrage that the children of Grand were recently treated with such disdain by humans, pride at the blood they had spilled, and regret that peaceful means were sought to solve problems. He exhorts them to vengeance, whipping them into frenzy, and urges them to pick up weapons and shields to crush the followers of Ilsare in Hlint. He extols their divine right to take land from those too weak to hold onto it. Orcs do not negotiate! They take! They break bones and spill blood!

After this he offers to deliver crate loads of fine weapons, bottles of liquid healing, and enchanted jewelry to enhance their strength, and metal armors at no charge, if they but ask for it... He offers a high quality iron bastard sword and an iron battle axe as examples of what they can expect to receive if they request aid. There are no identifying marks on the weapons.

OOC// If this is successful we will follow-up later with attempts to develop a market for low cost weapons with the various militias and town defense forces in the area. Certain followers of Corath will use the opportunity created by battlefield casualties to increase the presence of undead in the area.

General Discussion / Message for To'ryll Solen

*A small red devil with a long forked tail approaches you slowly with its hands visible. It is holding a folded parchment sealed with a black wax seal in the shape of a human skull. It grins at you baring multiple rows of needle-like teeth. After you take the message from it, the creature disappears into magical invisibility*

Ask A Gamemaster / Gather Information Roll
« on: March 19, 2010, 04:23:42 pm »
OOC//

I am wanting to direct this to the GM (s) running the current quest/CDQ/current plot regarding Michidli and the paintings. I want to make two "Gather Information Skill Rolls* in-game and would like to allocate up to 10,000 true for each of the two rolls for information. This is being done with the intent of passing on info to Jehoram for his CDQ. If you can PM me, I can PM the two questions back to you to prepare whatever results might come up. :)

Rumour Has It / Delivery
« on: February 21, 2010, 09:12:28 pm »
Adder watched the human enter The Harpy and walk nonchalantly to the bar from his darkened corner table. The man was confident and wore his blade like a professional. He whispered something to the bartender, who after hearing it gave a small nervous jerk of his thumb in Adder's direction. The man dropped a few coins on the countertop, picked up a tankard of ale, and slowly walked over to Adder's table. He stood there in front of Adder for a few minutes, squinting in the low light and smoke. Their eyes locked and the man knew immediately this stranger, known only to him as "Adder" was dangerous. He could sense an evil emanating from him... similar to the danger he felt from his own employer. In a quiet and even voice he asked "Are you Adder?" In an equally quiet and even voice Adder replied "I am."  The man pointed to the doorway. "Naster has sent us with your special delivery."

Rumour Has It / Someone asking discreetly about Naster
« on: February 17, 2010, 10:43:49 pm »
In the darkened streets of Fort Vehl a beautiful and curvy woman has been making discreet inquiries into finding someone named "Naster." She has only appeared at night and has avoided lighted doorways and street lamps.

Trade and Market Hall / Order for The Arm of the Ram
« on: February 17, 2010, 03:47:25 pm »
*A small red devil with a long forked tail materializes near the doorway of "The Ram." The hour is close to midnight and no one is about. It slips a small folded parchment under the door and disappears into the shadows.*

I am looking for a boxed set of five special tallow candles. The tallow must be rendered from the fat collected from executed criminals. Coloration must also be black and they have to be of a diameter no less than three inches, and round in shape. I am willing to pay 100 true weight coins each.

If you are able to procure such items, leave word at the Harpy in Vehl.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Potions
« on: January 06, 2010, 01:31:24 am »
This sort of spawned off of another thread as a suggestion but never made it into it's own thread as a serious request by the player base. Hopefully Darkstorme does not mind, as the suggestion was his. I think it has a lot of merit and would like to request that the team discuss it for implementation. :)

That being said...

I would support increasing the yield of existing alchemical concoctions.  As it stands, crafted potions are as expensive as they are because it takes a great deal of time and effort, and some hard-to-find ingredients, to make even a few potions.  If the return per recipe were, for example, three potions on a success, rather than a single potion (with the whole batch being spoiled on a failure, of course), this could reasonably bring the existing, balanced potions to a wider audience.

General Discussion / Successful Expedition
« on: December 20, 2009, 01:09:40 am »
//OOC Stygian's mining expedition was very successful, mounds of giants and ogres fell to the blades of his two dwarven miners and the arrows of his archer. His chests are full, and his hired help walked away with large amounts of coin. The huge amounts of XP were the cherry on the ice cream sunday (Two Players Leveled)... ;) Will have to do it again in the near future. It was money well spent.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Remove Pixies as Familiars
« on: December 17, 2009, 12:19:15 pm »
I personally play mages exclusively, and believe that pixies should be removed as familiars in the game world. They take away from the need to have rogues along on outings and unfairly take away RP opportunities from both rogues and the player base. The only purpose they serve is to open locks. Some may argue RP potential, but I believe none of those that do can honestly say they have never used their pixie to open a lock. ;)

I sincerely hope this will be seriously considered. One of many quotes I have heard in and out of game:

Ask A Gamemaster / Evil Points
« on: December 13, 2009, 03:38:01 pm »
I was approved to shift evil a while back for Stygian and had a good RP session with one of Geloo's characters that warrants some evil points. I also recently completed some actions related to Milara that can justify a few. I'll holler at one of you guys soon when in-game, just wanted to check and see if you need anything PM'd to you first? :)

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Hlint
« on: December 01, 2009, 01:45:42 am »
LOL, this probably will give Dorg a heart attack after the last prolonged discussions about tweaking Hlint, but I couldn't help myself. ;)

I was driving on the freeway today and was pining for the days when Hlint was a hub of activity and roleplay. I of course know the people of Hlint are more than happy to be rid of troublemaking adventurers and am familiar with all of the reasons behind those feelings. Anyway, I was just thinking it would be sort of cool considering all of the destruction caused by tidal forces if the opportunity was taken somehow to shift things in the direction of how they used to be with a little town having all of the craft halls and other things that would cause us to gather in one particular area more often. Perhaps some sort of additional plot twist in the campaign... It was a lot of fun logging on at any point and time and having several people waiting right there to RP, or putting together expeditions, etc. I guess this is a little more like grasping at some nostalgia than a real suggestion, but what the heck. And yes, I know all the arguments for doing what was done before as well, which were, and in some ways still are valid.

Rumour Has It / Discovery
« on: November 20, 2009, 08:03:48 pm »
The goat herder from Hlint was deeper in the trees then he should have been that late in the afternoon... evening was approaching quickly, and he hurried his pace because he wished to be safely home with the firewood he had collected before the sun was no longer penetrating the forest canopy. Some movement caught his eye and he thought he glimpsed a friend leading his dog "Nibbler" on a leash through the underbrush a good distance off of the trail. He stopped and took a seat on a nearby stump to wait because he was sure his friend would have to make his way to the same trail, and besides, he could use the company on the walk back to town.

The minutes dragged on, and after about a half hour his friend did not appear. He furrowed his brow and started to make his way through the bushes and tree trunks in the direction he saw his friend last. After a few minutes he entered a small clearing and his stomach knotted and he felt light headed with fear when he recognized what he had stumbled upon. The person he saw earlier could not have been his friend. The dog was indeed "Nibbler" though. The animal lay disemboweled on a flat stone that had the appearances of being converted into a crude alter. The heart had been cut out and disgusting hymns to the Dark Lord Corath had been scribbled onto nearby trees, desecrating their natural sanctity. The stranger was nowhere to be seen. The peasant dropped his wood and ran as fast as he could to Hlint where he reported the matter to the authorities and broke the sad news to his friend.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Just a thought...
« on: July 21, 2009, 10:35:01 pm »
We currently have negative energy damage attached to Stirge Feathers on craftable arrows. This takes up what, about 12 pallet slots after all of the different woods and heads are factored in?

To me, negative energy seems like it should be more appropriately attached to rods and the enchanting craft. This would give players more flexibility to use it on melee weapons or missles, provide greater ranges of damages, and it also has a better RP feel to it in my mind. If it uses less pallet slots, it seems like this would be a plus as well. Retexturing of existing rods I to IV a black-like color would make good templates.

LORE Ideas, Suggestions and Requests / Suggestion
« on: June 06, 2009, 06:08:14 pm »
Just a suggestion for consideration. The LORE messenger birds are awesome and present a super cool method for sending IC messages, however, they are rather expensive. Would it be possible to talk about lowering the price from 50 and 100 to something like 5 and 10? It seems like it would promote their use more, add more to the game, and I cannot really think of any balance or economic issues at the moment that would make it a bad idea. I know I would be sending 3 to 4 a day if they were a little cheaper...

General Discussion / Not sure if this has been discussed
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:36:57 pm »
I just had a thought, and was not sure this has already been discussed. I am on the project writers team and there is a ton of V3 stuff being worked on, but at some point in time most of that will be done, freeing up a lot of writers. I did not want to post there because I did not want to muddy the threads. The GM's are under a lot of pressure to put together a multitude of quests on an ongoing basis and I thought this might help to lighten the load. If there was another major thread created under the project writers to allow a GM to post a request for a plot, complete with parameters and basic ideas, project writers could then post a story line for a module. The GM's could then occupy themselves with the mechanics of putting together the quest with the toolset and have multiple quests "under construction" at any given time. I think the quests would also be richer in content and detail. There could even be quest teams put together comprised of a GM and one or more writers. The collaboration would create the potential for huge leaps in productivity and reduced stress. Quest wait times would be reduced, and L could even request certain quotas of certain type/Lvl quests to be ready for use. Just a thought... :)
