General Discussion / Community Update - Ravemore
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:20:10 pm »
Just an FYI... We had a large windstorm in the Seattle area over the weekend and I'm swamped at work... so there may be some delay in responses, ongoing IRC RP, etc. I do not anticipate having to reschedule anything though. So, if you're waiting for a reply, I'll get to you as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience.-Rave

...their packs and bags stuffed with rough sapphire. After a long journey to Black Ice Isle, running battles with the local goblin tribe, and exposure to bitter cold, they returned victorious, pretty much in one piece, and a lot wealthier than when they left.

Rumour Has It / Black Sand
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:51:12 pm »
Hasim whipped out his scimitar as the flap of his beit al-sha'r fluttered open, facing the newcomer who now framed his doorway… sand from the raging sandstorm blowing into the tent. Hasim’s cat-like stance was obviously that of an expert bladesman. Through his parched lips the man begged forgiveness for his intrusion and asked for shelter. The Law of Diyafa required that Hasim show hospitality to the stranger. In the hostile and unforgiving environment of the desert strangers and travelers did not often cross his path. Although cautious, he invited the man inside and prepared the first cup of coffee.'Al Heif' was poured: The first cup of coffee to be poured and tasted by the host to let the guest feel safe.'Al Keif' was poured: The second cup of coffee to be poured and tasted by the guest himself.'Al Dheif' was poured (The cup of the guest)… the third cup of coffee, to be drunk by the guest. After this, the stranger told a wild tale. He explained that he was a mercenary and was part of a company that had taken a complex of caves rich in ore. They dug too deep though, and disturbed ancient burial chambers. A great evil was awoken… a master and his 12 sons. He rambled on, fear obviously in his eyes. After several hours he asked for a water skin and departed.Hasim stood in the doorway, thoughtful. The sandstorm had subsided. He remembered tales as a boy told by his great grandmother of an ancient Sorcerer King named Amennaanka who lived several centuries ago. He was also said to have 12 sons and was an evil blight that disappeared after his kingdom was overthrown. Where he went, or what happened to him, nobody knew.Hasim called his son from another room and ordered him to run to the other tents and tell the rest of the clan they were moving out. He wanted to be far from this place by dusk. There was a sense of wrongness in the air, and the stranger was a bad omen. // This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Feel free to use this thread for RP/Forum posts. Significant posting will also be rewarded at the conclusion of the quest. This is a tough one, CR can get pretty high. The soul mother is active and a balanced group is advised. You have been warned. Rewards have been placed in game as well. Also, the boss has been assigned a special XP bonus for this one… If you beat him/her/it, you deserve it. The reward is set to scale to the party with a max. This means the more people in the party, the more XP. Unfortunately you don’t know what the max party cap  is. ;-)Good luck! PS - DO NOT sneak in invisibly and steal the quest rewards. Rumour Has It / Not Frosty the Snowman...
« on: July 21, 2015, 07:07:40 pm »
Meep Widershine burst through the doors of the small tavern in Dalanthar. He was disheveled, dirty, bloody, and by all appearances out of his mind. As he made his way to the bar the other patrons went back to their drinks and conversation… but it was obvious they were listening to what Meep was babbling about to the bartender.“They were ravenous animals I tell you! Yeti in the Thunder Peaks… but nothing like I have ever seen before! They were upon our camp before we knew what hit us. I watched them tear apart poor Birtle and eat him… Shoving chunks of my poor nephew into their gaping maws! They were fast and vicious! Uncanny in their strength!” He shuddered and quaffed no less than 8 shots of hard liquor in the span of about 15 seconds.Granmine, an elegantly dressed chap smiled from a table in the corner. Something new for his collection he reckoned. He scrawled a message on a small piece of paper, and as he left he pinned it to a bulletin board near the door.200 True per pelt. Yeti in the Thunder Peaks. Leave word for Granmine with the bartender.--------------// This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Feel free to use this thread for RP/Forum posts. Rumour Has It / Goblin Raids
« on: July 16, 2015, 03:39:18 am »
A patrol from Fort Llast was ambushed while on a routine long range patrol near the borders of the Goblin Wastelands. The battle was short, but fierce. The raiding party was estimated at about 50 in strength and two soldiers were slain before the attack was beat back.Scouts from Hlint have also reported increased activity much closer to the town than is usually seen. One caravan has not made it to Hlint as scheduled and is presumed lost. Alicia Nefzen, Commander of the Hlint defense has put up a 500 True reward for information on the lost caravan, but has expressed the towns desire not to have any forces or troops based inside their walls. Large mercenary companies or other military units will be turned away at their gates. // This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Feel free to use this thread for RP/Forum posts. Significant posting will also be rewarded at the conclusion of the quest. Use caution, it can be a tough one if you are solo. This is geared for a strong party of mid-level PC’s 10-20th. Higher level PC groups may run through with no problems, so if you want a challenge and good XP, forgo the super epic characters... but accept the consequences.Good luck! PS - DO NOT sneak in invisibly and steal the quest rewards. Rumour Has It / Moonlight Shadows
« on: July 08, 2015, 11:26:52 pm »
//This will be a thread for an upcoming event that will occur at a time to be announced later. For those players wanting to become involved, please begin posting here in this thread. As with all of my quest story lines, this will run for a couple of weeks and help to flesh out and give the online portion direction. As always, I award fortune for forum involvement. Easy experience if you ask me….------Not far from Lake Ravine in the Silkwood a dark shadow moved through the underbrush, wisps of moonlight occasionally brushing thick tangled hair on arms and back. It snarled as Ausir’s light touched its form. Muscles and sinew rippled under dense fur. It stopped and sniffed the air, intense on capturing a scent. After taking in the smells of the surrounding area it howled and returned to the hunt.------Arin was used to the woods and its creatures, but the sound of an eerie howl carried across the wind to his small home. He was well acquainted with all of the local wildlife, and there was an immediate sense of wrongness about this sound. He had lived in the small cabin near the neighboring village of Rho for nearly a decade. The smoldering fire on his hearth cast reddish light throughout the interior of his cabin. He grabbed his crossbow, loaded a shaft, and opened the door to check on his chicken coop.------He ran for Rho, his now empty crossbow clasped tightly in his hand. His breath came in ragged huffs and immediately fogged and dissipated into the cold night air. Arin knew his life was probably at an end, but he ran anyway. That’s what his father had always taught him… never give up. Never. That was the last thought that flitted through his mind before the beast leapt upon him and tore his throat out. His gods were merciful and allowed him to expire before the creature began to feed.------Two militiamen from Rho looked around the thick brush, weapons at the ready. The woodcutter had reported the torn up body earlier that morning. It lay not far from them, mangled, half eaten. Some personal effects on the dead man identified him as Arin, a homesteader that lived not far from their village. He was a good man and well liked. The evidence at the scene indicated Arin was running when he was ambushed. Large canine tracks were found everywhere. Larger than any they had ever seen before. They collected the body and made their way back to Rho to report their findings and to give Arin a descent burial.Later that day messengers were dispatched to nearby towns for assistance. A 1,000 true reward was posted for the head of the responsible animal.

Rumour Has It / Angels Guild - What the Heck?
« on: November 02, 2014, 01:40:07 pm »
As Ferrit turns the door knob on the Angels Guild building to go inside to reconcile books and take inventory, the knob detaches from the door when she pulls it. It appears the wood around the knob has rotted away and is flaking away in papery shreds.

Zigruum was moving through the deep snow at a fast pace, his snow shoes carving wide swaths in the packed ice crystals. A thick rime had collected on his whiskers as his breath froze on his facial hair. The sky was clear and the sun reflected off of the surrounding snow banks of Black Ice Isle. The polar bears had been in hibernation for a couple of months and he was nearly complete documenting all of the den sites in the area when he noticed something strange and stopped in his tracks. It was silent. Too silent. No signs of nature. The smaller animals and birds should be out in force with the sun break and lack of blizzard weather… but there were none. Something was wrong. The dwarven druid began a careful and cautious search. Soon he heard some loud and raucous laughing. He wiggled his way to the top of a small hillock and was stunned at what he saw. Three Frost Giants were dragging the dead bodies of two polar bears. A now motherless cub was crying and following them. One of the giants rushed at the cub and with a powerful swing of a massive iron hammer punched the cub deep into the snow and soil, killing it instantly for no other reason than to kill it. Rage flooded into Zigruum. Again they began laughing and speaking to each other in their loud foreign language. If there were many more of these giants the balance was in danger of tipping, but Zigruum knew he was no match for them alone. He backed out of his vantage point and headed for the nearest settlement to send word for help. //Thank you Willhoff for permission to use Zigruum in this quest start up.This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Rumour Has It / Silver Buckle - Shadow from the Past...
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:54:28 pm »
The hooded and cloaked stranger walked through the main doorway of the Silver Buckle. Music spilled into the street briefly before the door closed behind her. The gold buttons and eyelets of her tight fitting leather jerkin glinted in the light of the oil lamps as she lowered the hood attached to her black velvet cloak. She shook out her long black hair and walked over to the bar. More than one patron allowed his gaze to linger upon her shapely form a little longer than many would consider “proper”, but she did not seem to mind. She took a seat on one of the stools and began watching the regulars, occasionally smiling or making “small talk.”

Rumour Has It / Thought for Food?
« on: October 20, 2014, 11:54:02 pm »
Rumors are beginning to circulate around the small town of Ridgecrest in the foothills of the Ire Mountains. Rangers report that the Gnoll tribes are consolidating into larger groups and are not venturing out into smaller raiding parties, which is usually seen this time of year. They seem to be maintaining defensive postures in their communities.Local officials have also responded to several reports of homesteads with murdered or missing families. The bodies of the slain all had their cranial cavities opened and were missing their brains. Authorities are asking for assistance in investigating these crimes. //This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Feel free to use this thread for RP/Forum posts. Rumour Has It / Rise of the Bear Gods
« on: October 04, 2014, 04:58:36 pm »
Rumors have been slowly but steadily filtering into Mariner’s Hold and the Silver Buckle over several weeks. Rangers have been whispering among themselves of a Bugbear prophet appearing on Bear Island. Travelers on the Falls Forest road began to disappear soon after; the only evidence found being empty campsites, some with food still cooking over their campfires.…and today, a soldier from the Mariner’s Hold Ranger Corps slid into a seat at the bar in the Silver Buckle. He sat in silence for a long time. After a few strong drinks Captain Baronis motions over the bartender. “Please convey a message to the proprietors. Today we found a supply wagon bound for this establishment heavily damaged on the Falls Forest road. The shipment was missing. The evidence also suggested great violence, but no bodies were found. The manifests were still present and indicated the Teamsters were Jorgain and Steaphen Stilers. The bartender turned a little pale and responded, “They were good men. They carried medical supplies to be used in several local orphanages. That is bad news indeed. I will pass on the news immediately.” He then headed to the back rooms. An old man sitting at the bar turned to the Captain. “Hichutnach is back again eh?” The Captain jerked his head up. “How do you know that name old man? It was spoken by a captured Bugbear right before the soul mother cut his thread” The old man frowned and replied, “I am a scholar of local history. The name is one taken by the great prophets of the Bear Island Bugbear Clan. There have been many over the centuries, none of them the same creature.” The Captain pulled his seat closer with great interest and slid some gold coins across the countertop. “Consider yourself now employed by the City as a consultant. Please go on.” The old man grinned. “Every 50 to 75 years it seems, a great Bugbear prophet named Hichutnach arrives on Bear Island with his most devout followers and attempts to raise the twin Bear Gods Ichnuthet and Grienthicut from their long hibernation. It is said that those primal nature gods sleep deep beneath the old abandoned temple in the island’s forest. They are more likely than not creatures from another Pit though. The legends foretell of a great cleansing of all enemies of the Bugbear Clans when they rise. Lucky for us all they have never been conjured forth from the void.”Captain Baronis thanked the old man and quickly departed to put together a strike force. -------------------------------//This is a static quest and it has been placed in-game. Rumour Has It / More Trouble in the Whitehorn Forest...
« on: September 26, 2014, 11:48:38 pm »
Skinny Ken the woodsman ran into the Leringard Arms full tilt, overturning two tables in the process. His hair was disheveled and he had a mad look to him. “Ya got to help me! They got Benny!” The bartender calmed him down, filling his shot glass several times.  “Who got Benny Ken?” Skinny Ken was shaking like a leaf. “Big giant floating eyeballs! We were in the cave in the Whitehorn Forest near where all the bears live. We were thinking of stealing a cub to train. The eyeballs were eating the bears! Had them spelled up or something cause they weren’t running… then before we knew it, they saw us… and they got Benny!” //This impromptu may be another tough one. Rumour Has It / Arkolio Salvorre
« on: August 09, 2014, 10:23:43 pm »
The Dock Master was admitted to Arkolio’s study by the two large men watching outside his richly engraved teak double-doors. Both were large, well-muscled, and “Bludgers.” The wood had been imported from a faraway and unnamed tropical island, and the labor of half a dozen skilled craftsmen over the period of a month went into their fine construction. A Dwarven smith had forged the titanium hinges. Their value was more than most men in Vehl could make in a lifetime. The Dock Master was nervous and he grasped his wool hat in front of him tightly. A large red welt could be seen above his right ear. When he spoke, the low-born and uneducated dialect was missing and had been replaced by that of a “book-taught man.” “Councilman Salvorre. I bring news.” When Arkolio did not respond and merely looked up at the man, he continued. “I think I recognized a newcomer in the docks today... but could not put a name to the face. Her papers named her as Lavender Blacklace. The papers were top grade forgeries. Very few could source or afford their quality. I almost missed it myself. I attempted to accompany her, but she gassed me with some type of substance and knocked me out.”When Arkolio still remained silent and watched the man, he continued. “Later in the day there was an assassination near Talent Street. Brint Fiercerock of the Fiercerock clan was murdered by a poisoned arrow from the rooftops. There are rumors that the Fiercerocks are threatening to redirect trade from Vehl in retaliation.” *He then swallowed hard* “And there are also more rumors of criminal activity outside of your influence...”

Rumour Has It / Eaornath D’lisk - The Rebuilding
« on: August 07, 2014, 01:06:16 am »
The sun was a few hands above the horizon when the wagons began pulling into Eaornath D’lisk. The villagers began making their way to the town square, whispers and questioning looks everywhere. Ten large wagons in all, drawn by oxen, there muscles bulging beneath the straps and yokes. Their cargo holds loaded with wood, rope, nails, and stone. A few carried provisions, large sacks of wheat and root vegetables stacked high. The occasional crack of a whip and yell of a teamster rose above the buzzing talk. The town Alderman approached the lead wagon and raised his hands, his face full of sorrow. “Sir, although we have need for the supplies you carry, we are unlikely to be able to afford your wares. Some perhaps, but we do not have the money for most of your goods.” The teamster smiled kindly at him. “No need for coin your honor. All of these goods are being provided free of charge by Hilm Castle…” He chuckles, “…and their labor is at no cost as well.” The Alderman follows the man’s pointing thumb and his mouth hangs open in disbelief as he watches a column of carpenters, engineers, stone masons, and soldiers of the Company of the Star making their way into the town. A cheer from the villagers echoes over the rooftops as they eagerly begin helping with the unloading.
