NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Battlehelm Moors
« on: June 28, 2011, 02:02:43 am »
Every time I go to the Battlehem Moores I have to change all my video settings or crash repeatedly. Sometimes that does not even work. I crashed at least a dozen times tonight and had weird triangular images the size of half the tileset rotating around me. I've seen a plethora of other issues with other players with that tile set since it was introduced. Therefore, I'd like to request some consideration in a future update to ditch it and use the Sooth Moore tileset instead. There is a high demand for the CNR in those areas, and the risk of crashing and loosing a soul strand to a swampkin at my level is almost funny. The eye candy is not worth the headache it is causing. Anyway... just my two cents. ;)

Rumour Has It / Message for Naster - Left at The Harpy
« on: April 11, 2011, 12:53:13 am »
A shapely dark haired female with striking green eyes strolls up to the bar, leans in making herself very visible, and slides a wax sealed parchment across the well-worn top to the bartender. She grins seductively, showing just the barest glimpse of an elongated canine tooth, and says in a silky smooth voice "Can you please see to it that my man Naster receives this when he next comes in?" She pouts a little "I do hope he hurries, I'm sooooooo lonely. He makes me feel all wiggly and jiggly like a warm flan"

A rough looking patron sitting nearby overhears this, slides over and says, "Hey gorgeous, can I buy you a drink? I'm sure I would be more than an adequate substitute for that inconsiderate Naster fellow... and I love flan"

She smiles back and nearly coos, "Sure handsome." He slaps a few coins on the bar and they retire to a room upstairs.

Within a half hour she returns to the allyway where Adder waits and reports her mission as complete before he releases the binding holding her and ends the summons.

The next morning cleaning staff discover the man dead. It was very bloody, and more than one person accustomed to seeing death in this rough city had to excuse themselves to empty their stomachs.

The Sealed Parchment:

Naster, Your jewelry order is complete and the price has been determined. Inform me when you wish to meet to discuss the arrangement.

Rumour Has It / Looking at Milara's Borders
« on: April 09, 2011, 05:33:36 pm »
Adder makes his way from Bloody Gate towards the Mountains of Madness. He also asks discreet questions prior to leaving bloody Gate to glean any available rumors.  His goal is merely to look for changes in the status quo, which has remained pretty much unchanged since the expiration of the treaty. He moves with caution, staying well off any maintained roads or pathways, but close enough to avoid the pitfalls and dangers of the general wilderness, which he detests to a large degree. Any sign of giants prompts extra caution, and the trip slows down considerably. Full compliments of invisibility and greater sanctuary spells are maintained for this trip.

With all of the epic battles being waged in the war with Khul, it is implausible to Adder that a necromancer of Milara's power and resources would pass up an opportunity to improve the position of his kingdom while the focus of the entire world is elsewhere. Adder is eager to see if there are developments that can be seized and taken advantage of to further the goals of his Dark Lord, Corath.

Although Adder frequents many locations close to the borders of Milara's kingdom, he does not cross over into his lands too often. Occasionally if the odds of significant information are high, he will. Milara's power is immense and well known. Although Adder has had direct contact with him in the past, he does not relish being in that position again.  Border guard posts will be looked at to determine if there are changes in troop deployments or strengths. He will be looking for increased or suspicious traffic to and from the mountain roads leading toward the fortress of Milara's Throne. Anything out of the ordinary will be scrutinized.

Rumour Has It / Task for Castor Goodshot ;-)
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:24:54 am »
While tying down your heavily laden ox outside your new residence in Dalanthar, a voluptuous female figure walks from the shadows of the doorway. You missed her presence initially because she blended into the shadows so well, her alluring hips swing seductively and her bosom nearly bursts the crystal buttons on her blouse.

You begin to smile because you think this is your lucky day, until you see a reptilian barbed tail swish under the edge of her cloak, and small ebony horns high on her forehead, nearly covered with long red hair. She speaks in a silky and soft voice that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and gives you gooseflesh on your arms. You realize she is a creature of the pits...

"Our master Stygian has your first delivery prepared." She points a long sexy finger tipped with a cruel looking talon at a trunk sitting next to the door. "The container is to be delivered to a doctor in Arnax". She hands you a slip of paper with an address on it. He maintains a small office there. "His name is Vensk. Do not open the trunk, or allow it to fall into the hands of any other person. You must also ensure no customs officials inspect the item. It's time to earn your keep, pet."

She grins at you and winks as she turns to walk away, and then pauses and looks over her shoulder. She smiles broadly while displaying her mind-blowing curves. "Perhaps we will become friends Castor, if we ever cross paths again?"

She quickly makes her way downstairs to Stygian's study where she is released from her binding and sent back to the pit from which she was summoned.

Rumour Has It / Mortuary Work, Attn: Dezza
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:02:01 am »
Stygian was looking for a foothold in Fort Vehl to use as a launching point for operations in service to the Dark Lord. It seemed a logical step to ply a trade that would give him access to raw materials and victims who would never be missed or mourned. He headed to one of the local mortuaries, 'Goude & Partner, Morticians and Burial Services, intent on submitting an application for employment.

Upon entering the front office and asking for an application a bored and sullen attendant placed a parchment in front of him, with a number of questions on it. "I assume you can read?" He looked at Stygian blankly. "Fill this out and bring it back when you're done."
Stygian took the offered form, laid it on the counter, and pulled out a writing instrument and began filling out the form.

1/ What is your full name and what city, nation were you born in?
Stygian Achnuman. Born in the city of Arnax, Kingdom of Nesar.

2/ How deep must a body be buried to prevent the earth sinking in during the putrefaction and bone stripping phase of decomposition?
This question can have several answers. If the body is contained inside a stone casket or coffin the burial depth is sufficient at 36 inches, as the rigid surface of the container will keep any earth sinking event from occurring.

Most jurisdictions require a depth of 6 feet for burial of linen clad bodies and wooden caskets, which is sufficient to both prevent earth sinking during the putrefaction and bone stripping phase of decomposition... and to provide sufficient weight on top of the body or container to prevent movement in the case of undeath taking hold.

Also, earth composition should be considered. Loose loamy soils and aggregate materials are more susceptible to settling, thus may require greater depth then heavy clays.

3/ Have you worked with dead bodies before? If so where and why?
Yes. I worked for five years as an apprentice mortician to a Nester Bondalavalin in Arnax. I also worked as an assistant to a Reedlin Stirelin in Arnax for another 6 years.

4/ Do you have any references? If so, please provide at least two.
Nester Bondalavalin -- Deceased. Plague was cause of death.

Needlin Stirelin -- Deceased. Taken by the Temple of Corath.

I am also proficient in standard burial, embalming, mummification, and cremation. In short, I can probably answer any question you have or demonstrate any procedure required. And yes, I can read very well.

5/ Do you have a particular faith you ascribe to?
None.

6/ Do you have a fetish about the dead?
No fetish. Necrophilia is disgusting, if that is what you're getting at...

When complete, he pushed it across the counter and stared at the clerk with the same blank look he had received from him earlier and waited....

The attendant looked at Stygian several times after reading the form, then excused himself and hurriedly headed into the back of the office through a single door. Moments later he returned with a tall, lanky man in a dark embroidered suit. He approached the desk with Stygian's application in hand and looked at him for several minutes. When he spoke, it is with a slow drawl and soft demeanor.

"You have some experience then, you are fortunate. My last mortician tried to rob a corpse he was supposed to bury two weeks ago. The father of the woman who died caught him and killed him with his own spade. I too knew Needlin in Arnax, he was very skilled." Without letting you speak further he continued.

"I will give you a three month trial. You start tomorrow. I am Vilhelm Goude, your new master."

Stygian worked diligently in his new position, ever conscious that he was under the scrutiny of a master of the craft. Many months passed, and those months turned to years. From time to time the occasional street urchin, addict, or beggar would disappear, never to be heard from or seen again. Although he often had to leave on "personal business" for short periods, he always returned to provide services for his employer and delve deeper into the knowledge and practices of the mortician. He was hoping that soon he would be in a position to be declared a Journeyman mortician and licensed to practice in some of the smaller outlying towns and villages....

Rumour Has It / Offering Apprenticeship
« on: September 29, 2010, 03:02:54 am »
//OOC. This is posted here in case anyone is interested in creating a new Corathite mage and does not have access to the Corathite Forum. This is being directed idealy to a new lvl 1 character. Although evil is preferred, someone wanting to work towards evil may find this to be a good opportunity. I plan on investing some significant time into this RP apprenticeship and it will give your CDT significant support when it comes time for your request with the CA team for an alighnment shift. If not evil though, you will have to play within that alignment until you can begin shifting. I plan on terminating the apprenticeship once you reach about level 15. I play in Pacific Standard Time Zone and can be online just about any evening during the week. I usually pop in at least 3 to 4 days, if not more. I'm also open to some forum RP. The Apprenticeship will take place at my player housing. You will receive a furnished room with storage, and a house key at no charge.
______

** Rumors begin to circulate in both the Mistone and Arnax Corathite Temples that Adder is looking for potential candidates for an apprenticeship. Many shudder at the thought...**

Rumour Has It / Looking For Professional Blade
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:44:42 am »
*A hooded person is seen in Fort Vehl and Leringard tacking up notices written in a clear and concise script*

I am looking to hire someone good with a blade, not prone to asking too many questions, and willing to relocate. Job requires residence at employment site. Furnished room and small monthly salary provided. Access and use of a common area also provided. Position is at will, and subject to termination at any time. Extensive travel may be required. Send resume to S.A. - C/O The Harpy in Vehl.

//OOC as mentioned above, a furnished room will be provided, including 3 storage chests. a House key will be given. No fees will be charged, I will actually pay you once a month. If you are good aligned, this might not be the best choice for you. From time to time I will be including you in some of my Role Play schemes as part of your employment. These can range from simple delivery jobs to negotiations with other players, kidnappings, or killings. Although I am a devout Corathite, this will be kept from you. For all intents and purposes you will be working for a merchant with very little by way of scruples or morals. I will never ask anything of you that is not feasible. :) Although the player housing is now located in Haft Lake, it will be moved elsewhere in the near future. Any questions, PM me. In case of multiple respondents I'll conduct interviews in-game.

Roleplaying / Impromptu Quests
« on: September 25, 2010, 01:29:03 pm »
I have spoken to a couple of people that are really not into being involved in impromptu quests for various reasons. I thought it would be cool if some of us who would VERY MUCH like one occasionally could post character names so bored GM's looking for something to do could pop in and drop something in our laps without fear of a negative reaction from a player... Anyway:

Stygian Achnuman.

Rumour Has It / Rumor in Vehl
« on: September 18, 2010, 04:58:06 pm »
Two gravediggers pulling a cart loaded with a linen wrapped corpse in Fort Vehl could be overheard commenting that a new mortician had been hired by "Goude & Partner, Morticians and Burial Services." The other replied that he knew, had met the fellow briefly, and he literally made his skin crawl. A creepy character, even for a mortician...

Rumour Has It / Death in Vehl
« on: June 26, 2010, 12:30:45 am »
Adder had been watching the boy for most of the morning from a shadowed alcove near the Vehl docks. The young man was practicing arcane cantrips, and it was quite evident he was someone's apprentice. Adder was a little perplexed why he was so preoccupied with the boy, but he knew the Dark Lord often presented opportunities to the vigilant... so he watched, and he waited.

Soon a cruel little smile tugged at Adder's lips. Two larger boys showed up and began bullying the young man. A few blows were landed and some insults shouted before the two hooligans left and disappeared into a nearby alley, leaving the young man on his knees with a bloodied lip. Adder quickly walked to the young man and offered him a hand. "Here, let me help you up. It seems those not gifted with the will to harness the Al'Noth often resort to this foolishness to prop up their own machismo, no?" The young man took his offered hand and grinned as he was pulled to his feet. Adder reached into a pouch and withdrew a thin bone cylinder, uncapped it, and pulled out a rolled scroll parchment. "Take this and use it on one of those louts, it will teach them a lesson." He chuckled lightly as the young man took the scroll from him. "It creates fear. They will think twice before accosting a soon-to-be master such as you."

The young man headed towards the alley and Adder blended into the late morning crowd as he headed towards the city gates. The phantasmal killer spell scribed onto the parchment he gave the boy was sure to kill, if he was able to trigger it. It was important that the touch of Corath be felt by the Indignus, that hatred and anger be fanned into flames of abhorrent deeds for the greater glory of the Bone Lord.

Rumour Has It / Information Sought on Dead Magic Area

Trade and Market Hall / Real Estate Deal of a Lifetime!
« on: May 30, 2010, 12:32:02 am »
Any that may be interested, send me word and we can make arrangements to discuss the finer details... and perhaps enter into a legal and binding contract.

I currently own a very large house in the Haft Lake region near Prantz. The building is not one of the small halfling holes. It has an upstairs and downstairs, large meeting room, two large bedrooms, two small bedrooms, a large living room, and a kitchen. The lower level has two huge warehouse areas. I am seeking to do a straight trade of buildings, and here is the kicker... yours does not need to be remodeled. It can be a basic floorplan. The house is big enough to provide significant rental income for anyone willing to do this trade.

Areas I am interested in are Leringard, Krandor, Hlint, and Haven.

-Stygian Achnuman

OOC//My partner and I have discussed this, and although we could scoop up another house on west, we really do not need one and felt it would be better to take the hit in the wallet and loose the remodel while leaving an opportunity available for someone else to pick up a house of their own somewhere. As Darkestorme mentioned in a different post we'd probably use it for storage only anyway. From an RP perspective the west server is much better for us, and we eventually want to re-tie our door to Fort Vehl. If we have multiple offers we are not going to make people bid or anything like that, but we do not want hard feeling either, so we might have an RP get-together where players can roll the bones to determine who we go with. The house is really nice and I'd be more than happy to walk anyone through all areas OOC to peek at it. The reason for OOC is I have a Corathite shrine that would require me to take it up and put it back every time I showed someone, which would be quite the pain ;-) Anyway, if you are interested, for sake of transparancy could you please post here instead of PM's? Your understanding is appreciated...

Stygian stumbled as he was spat from the bindstone in Arnax. He struggled to keep his feet and nearly wretched with the effort. He wiped a line of spittle from his chin and began laughing softly and muttered "fools." He grabbed a nearby acolyte and instructed him to have someone send a wraith to find Dr. Vensk and give him the following message.

"The deed is done at great cost and effort. Watch for your opportunity. It will come soon."

General Discussion / Troll King's Quest
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:26:35 am »
Was a lot of fun, even though all of us evil guys died. LOL. My goals were accomplished, less the dying part, and I was able to taste a little Rofie justice. Was not exactly what I was expecting when I think of Rofies, but made for some great RP.

I heard Milty was an expert at throwing wrinkles into the the best laid plans of mice and men, but was seriously not expecting to be trying to kill villagers between 4th and 17th lvl. They pummeled us! ;)

Anyway, thanks all of you for the fun time. Been playing this character for over 4 years and this was my first real quest. It has definitely given me an appetite for more. To the GM team, you have a good GM there, don't ever let him leave. :)
