Ancients Legacy / Ancients Legacy -- Plot Status -- 14-May-2015
« on: May 14, 2015, 08:37:59 pm »
Hello all!We are getting to the final days of this plot.  As a reminder, the next plot quest session will be on Saturday, May 23, 2015.  Check the calendar for the time. This session will likely be the most important one so far and probably the most important one besides the finale, which, if everything goes well, will be held on the following session. If you want to be involved or have been involved, this coming session is definitely not one to miss. Clues are in place, some with characters, some in-game. If you plan to attend, regardless of your participation in the plot so far, we strongly recommend attending this pre-quest gathering on Saturday, May 16th. Rowana and/or I plan to hover around for at least part of this, but it is not an actual quest event. If you cannot attend, please get together with someone who has before May 23rd.We are intending to keep this next session as close to three (3) hours as possible, due to some feedback we've gotten about sessions running too long. As such......there will be very little time at the beginning of this next quest to play catch-up, so please handle as much as you can before that.We will start regardless, so it is in your best interests to get caught up before the quest. If we have missed any questions or responses, or if you have new avenues to take, please PM us as soon as possible.

Ancients Legacy / Ancients Legacy -- Plot Status -- 19-April-2015
« on: April 19, 2015, 03:02:48 pm »
Hey all,We wanted to remind everyone that the next installment of the Ancients Legacy plot quest series is coming up in a few days on the 25th of April, 2015.  The quest is open to all. There are no RP barriers preventing anyone from attending this quest session. As well, we're nearing the end of the plot quest series. We're not entirely sure how many more sessions there will be, in part because that is somewhat up to what happens on this next quest, but there are at least 2 sessions remaining. In that vein, it's pretty important to your efforts to get together, share information as it seems appropriate and come prepared to RP and play smartly. Some of you have recently gotten some information, and we still owe a few bits of information as well. Ultimately, what you do with this information is your choice, but sharing this information is the recommended plan of action, particularly if you cannot attend this next session. Blend it with what you and others have heard so far.Good luck!

Layonara Server / Coming Soon! Enhanced Mapping
« on: April 05, 2015, 09:23:35 pm »
Another fun feature coming to the next update includes some nice enhancements to the minimap system.

Map Pins

Let's start off first with the map pins. All map pins will now be persistent, they will save over server resets and be there for you forever. Included with the map pins update is the ability to set, list, delete and rename the map pins via commands. This can save you some time if you want to custom macro a command like =c map set Path to Fort Miritix for example and then use that key many times as you travel. The commands associated with map pins are:
  • =c map set Pin Name - This will set a map pin at your current location with the name you designate.
  • =c map list - This will show a numerical list of map pins for the current area.
  • =c map delete # - This will delete the map pin with the number you define (as revealed in the =c map list)
  • =c map rename # Pin Name - This will rename the map pin for the numbered pin for that area (as revealed in =c map list)
  • =c map save - Saves all of your map pins.
Note: You will not see map pin updates until you re-enter the area when using the commands as opposed to using the regular NWN map pinning UI. A bit more on this later. The system automatically saves your map pins when you log out but if you wish to be entirely sure you can use the =c map save command as well.

Area Mapping

The second feature is an ability to map out an area which exposes the entire black area for good. To perform this, you purchase a Magical Map Book from the Magical Vendors. Proceed to use it, then travel around in the area and you'll be notified about your mapping progress. The length of time it takes to map the area takes many things into account such as your Intelligence, your Wisdom, your Lore, your Gather Information, your Ranger levels, the size of the area, the time of day, whether it's above ground and whether it's an interior area. The minimum time it will take is 3 minutes and the maximum is 10 minutes.Just because you may be able to run around the area quickly and expose all the "black" on the minimap won't expedite the procedure. Mapping progress pauses when you rest, engage in combat or if you remain in the same general vicinity. Mapping progress is cancelled if you die or change areas.Once you complete your mapping the entire map will be exposed. After a server reset if you wish for the areas you have mapped to automatically be revealed to you then use =c toggle automap and then when you enter an area you have had mapped the minimap will be exposed. If you prefer to not automatically have the maps revealed to you but would rather expose them on an area by area basis then use =c map reveal in an area where you wish the map to be revealed.

Map Sharing

Once you have an area mapped out you can share your information about the area with other players using =c map share Plen (use their dynamic name) for example. Map sharing reveals the entire area to the other player as well as copying your map pins over to the map for the person you are sharing with. The player must re-enter the area to see the updated map pins.Note: To facilitate some of the commands that I've been introducing that require you to re-enter an area I've created a command that will portal you to a very small area then back to the location you were standing. Use =c  refresharea if you wish to use this instead of manually leaving the area and coming back. This update should be out some time this week.-orth

Forum Discussion / Forums/Web Site Moving
« on: April 11, 2015, 03:14:32 pm »
Good afternoon folks,Just giving you the heads up that I'll be moving the forums to another server some time this weekend. I will have to take down the old server temporarily for about a half hour or so to transfer the latest db over to the new server. Once this is done the web site will be running concurrently on the old server and the new server while the DNS propagates over. If your DNS is slow to update then you will probably see a bit of a performance loss as you connect to the old web server which is interacting with the db on the new server. The new web server is faster and you'll notice a speed increase while browsing the site and forums. To summarize, you don't have to do anything, but you may experience some latency until your ISP recognizes the DNS change. At the most this should be 48 hours but in general folks should be fine very shortly afterwards.-orth

Layonara Server / Version 3.53 is online!
« on: March 08, 2015, 03:08:11 pm »

Version 3.53 is online!

Just a few tweaks and additions here and there.

Fixes:

  • Fixed Leringard Arms not having the onenter script defined

  • Fixed two of the Deep areas having the same tag

  • Fixed house key reporting as useless when they weren't really

  • Make sure the player list gets updated after dubbing and when new players login

  • Clean up the logic for when encounters are exhausted to hopefully help the issue where encounters would respawn soon after they were all defeated.

Additions:

    [li]

Added a new furniture item Easel. The Easel can be written upon for signs for shops or notifications to players entering your home or perhaps innkeepers with notices. Deeds available at the furniture merchants. They're around 200 gold.[/li]
Other updates:

  • Moved tracking of hunger/thirst and cold from the db to the gem of rememberance

  • Removed some more unused scripts related to an ox system from 2003

  • More DB improvements specifically related to merchant discounts and temple donations

  • Removed hard coded easel from Angels guild so they can use the furniture item.

  • Removed a quill warning which was no longer applicable since SetName was added by Bioware.

Layonara Server / Version 3.51 is online!
« on: March 01, 2015, 04:42:46 pm »

Version 3.51 is online!

This was a quick fix I updated with yesterday (and a hotfix on Friday) that I didn't get the chance to summarize the small details out.

Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that had CNR loading really slow.

  • Fixed a bug with messages through the web site to characters not functioning

  • Fixed a critical bug with inserting containers into crates/chests

  • Allow for the new adventuring kits to be stored in banks or furniture

  • A couple RNQ (Random NPC Quest) tweaks and performance improvements

Additions:

    [li]

Consecrate symbol no longer destroys the old amulet and creates a copy of the properties on the ugly yellow thing. It simply updates the tag properly and changes the name to include (Consecrated)[/li]
[li]

Created a new journal book called A Book of Fixes and moved some of the actions to there.[/li][li]

Introduced a fix to the ultravision, true seeing and darkness bug where after it wears off you couldn't see any players any more. This was only corrected with a relog before but now you can just use =c fixuvbug[/li][li]

The old emote wand used to be used to save a ton of variables related to spell casting but those vars were moved to the gem of rememberance. A new function replaces the wand with a clean one if they have one.[/li]
Other updates:

    • More db performance improvements

    • Integrated new incremental backup system with no noticeable impact on the NWN server

Rumour Has It / An invitation from The Bird Lord
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:37:14 am »

To friends and fellow adventurers,

I ask your presence at Bloody Gate on Augra 21 to join myself in a parley with the one known as Milara as we trek to Skull Hill. The subject of the negotiations and discussions are currently unknown. Be warned that any offensive maneuvres may end with your death or worse, the disruption of the negotiations and the possibility of further complications with current grand events involving the constellations, the fastrot and dragons.

Warm regards,

Plenarius

Ancients Legacy / Bad tidings
« on: February 24, 2015, 11:19:09 pm »
Lost it all...” says the sullen and clearly intoxicated patron. “but what in all the Pits was I s'posed to do?”I don't know pal,” says the bartender. “but you ain' gonna find it at the bottom of that bottle.” The patron just grumbles and takes another drink.Bloody dragons 're a menace,” says the patron eventually, noticeably slurring his words. “Thugs and thieves every one of 'em.”What are you on about?” asks the bartender.Dragons, I said!” replies the patron. “Well...one dragon, but they's all slimey. This'n said it would protect our village from orcs and that, but it wanted half our livestock.”You're saying a dragon strong-armed you?” asks the bartender, not quite believing what he's hearing.Aye,” replies the patron. “but I stood up and said it can't have even one of my animals.”Oi, good on ya, lad!” says another, slightly nosey, patron next to him, who also raises his tankard in support.Ain't nothin' good about it,” snaps the first patron at the second. “The blasted beast took all my livestock, destroyed my farm and killed my crops. And then I got kicked outta town. Rest of 'em paid up like so many sheep.” The man sighs and throws back another drink, which he seems to no longer be tasting. Those around him go silent. In a few moments, the bartender puts a small pouch of coins onto the bar in front of the first patron. “Your drinking on the house tonight, lad,” he says. “Ain' right takin' coin from a man that got nothin' else.” The man, as gratefully and gracefully as he can, manages to place the pouch into a pocket and mutter something that sounded like a thanks.Tell you what...” says the first patron after a while. “Ol' Bloodstone had the right idea...”Nods and mutters of agreement follow.

Layonara Server / The NWN server is going to be moved again
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:12:38 am »
Hello all,As you know we've been running our server for the past 2 months on a new host and while for the most part it has been acceptable there have been issues with random "blue screen of deaths" killing the entire server as well as intermittent lag spikes. While trying to debug these I started considering another server where I could get an equally good deal and came across one that was Linux though. I wondered to myself how difficult and how capable our current world would be to run on Linux especially with our NWNX plugins. So I tested it locally and fixed a few bugs here and there and things seemed okay. At that point I wondered if there were any new NWNX plugins for Linux that I could tap into to help the world. This is when I really got excited and started greatly considering we'd move from Windows to Linux. There are  many plugins that are now available that can enhance our world. This is how and why I was able to introduce the Dynamic Names system.  Some of the other plugins give us functionality for many other ideas we've always been limited by the capabilities of what Bioware gave us. Not only that, there are performance improvements that these plugins provide to help the world run smoother and faster with less lag.I hope you understand that this move shouldn't be much of a blip on the radar and should hopefully lead to a smoother world with some exciting new features coming as well. Here's a taste of some of these new features:
  • GMs can now create transitions wherever they want. Whether its a "hole" showing up in the middle of Center or a doorway that leads to a Quest Area, they can plop them down on the fly.
  • Players can set their character's description any time they want. Title any parchment "My Description" then write on it and use =c setmydesc and your player's description will change to what's on the parchment.
  • The login process is faster. Some of the checks have been moved to not even allow players in the world instead of booting them after the login. Other processes that only need to be done once a reset are now doing so.
  • Dynamic never ending NPC quests.  If a pawn broker over hears you talking about something, you might want to listen to what he has to say. "Speaking of trading, Firg Knucklebar in Fort Llast was looking for some help with making a run to Dregar." (More on this to come!)
  • You can now ox unidentified items.
  • GMs can rename areas.
  • Increasing fortune for diversifying your exploration with groups, the more the merrier.  The more unique areas you visit the higher the rewards become! (more on that soon too)
  • Improved performance on NPC creature spawn/loot
  • Complete restructure of a lot of the database, much cleaner and faster
I was originally planning to get this entire move and update done this weekend but it may be delayed a few days as I want to get some thorough testing in plus (!!) the missus has been extremely patient with me this past fortnight as I've coded away so I'd like to reward her tomorrow. Some of these features may not make the first update after the move but the framework is laid out and the coding is started.I'll keep you all posted as things progress. All the best, orth

Layonara Server / Coming Soon! Dynamic Names
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:57:10 pm »
I wanted to give the community a heads up on the new system that will hopefully be arriving in the next update. We are going to be introducing dynamic names to the world. What are dynamic names? Well now whenever you don't know a character all you will see above them or when they talk and other events is "Someone". It will be up the characters to introduce themselves to others or for your character to dub that character with a name.Associated commands will be:
  • =c intro
  • =c introparty
  • =c introarea
  • =c dub
To introduce yourself to an individual you use =c intro Plen for example. This will find the closest PC to your PC and introduce yourselves as that name to them. This will then change it so the other character sees Plen instead of Someone. =c introparty The Bird Lord for example would do the same thing but for all characters in your party. The same for =c introarea Feathers for example but it will work on any players in the immediate vicinity. If you would prefer to see someone's name as something else, you can forego their introduction and use =c dub instead. This works on the closest PC to your PC. For example, Connor could be near Plenarius and do =c dub Werechicken. If you have someone dubbed, from that point onward any time the player introduces themselves, it will ignore the introduction and use what you have dubbed them as.This will be a bit confusing at first when everyone is "Someone" but it should gradually get all worked out. You don't have to RP the introduction or dubbing of a PC who your PC knows well enough, just run the command(s). (Though feel free to RP it if you want!)Certain parts of the game world will still use your real name. For example the looter notification shows a Floating Message above the player to anyone that's nearby and can't be personalized on a per player basis. Storage logs on crates will still use the original name. There will be other cases we discover too, some will be fixed, some may not be able to be fixed. We hope this will help encourage the RP aspect of ones true name being held secret if they wish it that way. Also characters can use aliases to some if they so desire. Sometimes we're even confused/forgetful if one of our characters has met another yet, so this should help too. GMs always see your real name of course, but they too can dub you something else if they prefer.  (i.e. =c dub Victim #5) *gm grin*If you have any further ideas or just questions or comments, fire away. This isn't a set in stone update if players aren't thrilled about the idea but we think it will be a really fun addition.-orth

Layonara Server / Update on Number of Characters Per Person
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:56:38 pm »
Greetings Everyone!
I'm writing to share with you all that the number of character spots will be extended to eight (8) from it's previous limit of six (6). This topic has come up a number of times but the large concerns were always to the matters of character development and strain on the CA team. With regards to the latter, there clearly hasn't been as much so we are going to give this a try.It is very important to note that we wish character development and roleplay to be at the forefront of play here. Empty characters will net little regardless of their accumulated levels. However, the last few extensions of trust have worked fairly well and we are looking forward to seeing what new ideas the community will come up with.

Some important notes: 1) if we decide this isn't working out well we will restore the previous limit. If we do that however, we will not force deletions. You will only have to clear spots if you wish to start a new character at a later date.2) If the CA team gets pretty slammed with apps, please remember that we are running at a reduced capacity with a number of shared duties besides the duties of our RL. If people start bumping posts because their apps are in queue, we will move them to the bottom of the stack (which is what happens as we work from the bottom up as much as possible).3) Please respect the rules of the exotic/monstrous races. Submit only during the open time period(s).Thank you in advance for your patience and consideration. We hope everyone has a good time with this! ~row (and the CA team)

Ancients Legacy / Rael locked down
« on: January 03, 2015, 05:41:32 pm »

Added patrols and posted signs appear with increasing frequency at every border crossing into the Kingdom of Rael. Travelers are turned away without allowance under threat of lethal force. The posted signs read as follows:

Be it known that Lord Rael, the Benevolent, in the interest of preserving the health and safety of all Subjects of Rael, has decreed all unapproved entry into the Sovereign Kingdom of Rael to be illegal until such time as the threat to Public Safety posed by the so-called “Liquid Death” has been deemed neutralized. All persons lacking proper travel approval from the Benevolent Lord Rael Himself shall be turned away at our borders without exception. Any persons caught violating this prohibition or attempting to circumvent the agents of Lord Rael in the course of performing this duty to the People of Rael shall be executed on sight.

(( Please note that players may make use of the travel system, and we are not going to prevent people from mechanically accessing their homes located in the Rael kingdom (such as Prantz, Haft Lake), however your RP should reflect the travel prohibition rather than a clever circumvention of these travel restrictions. ))

Hello everyone,I am preparing a big update to clean a bunch of cruft up, make things speedier and merging both modules into one. There are a lot of advantages to merging the two modules into one from both the development side and for your enjoyment. Previous limitations to such a large module have new work arounds plus the limited community size and new hardware it is hopefully not a concern for overlagging the server. At the same time of doing this I've decided to reorganize the hak packs. There was over 11,000 (10%) resources in the haks that were duplicated either because the higher up one was a fix/update or just plain duplication error. Reorganizing them eliminates this duplication. This is going to mean everyone is going to have to download an entire new set of hak packs. I apologize for this but it's a rare occasion and hopefully you can handle a 950MB or so download these days. I know this is a bit of a frustration but I've also made a couple of fixes to things at the same time. The minimaps now work in the forest areas (Dapplegreen, Great Spikes - Ice areas, Blackford Outskirts etc) and I also fixed the minimaps in The Deep. The forest tileset has been updated to the final release as well. I've also added  a couple other things from the vault. If you want to get a head start on downloading the new hak packs you can do so and place the haks in your hak/ folder while waiting for the updated release. They can be downloaded here: http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layo_allhaks.rarIt is possible that I may end up having to update 1 or 2 of these haks before the release of the module but it won't be as big a download. It may be discovered that the server just can't handle the modules being one and we realize the stress is too high with 1200 areas in one module and we'll have to revert to the old way and run two servers but the new hak structure will still be in place either way.I've no timetable on when we'll be moving over to this. First I need to get some guinea pigs to download the haks and help me test some things but it will probably be fairly soon. All the best over the holidays, orth

Ancients Legacy / Return of the Missing?
« on: December 17, 2014, 10:20:10 pm »
“Oi tell ya, it's some kinna plague,” says a man sitting around a table near the back of the room in a tavern in Fort Vehl to the others sitting with him. “Loike that one that got 'em dragons back a ways. Ya hear 'bout that'n, aye? Only this'n turns folks to jelly!”“No more ale fer you,” says one of his companions, shaking his head. The others give looks that range from apprehension to disbelief. “Least no more o' that one. Someone spiked it, I'll bet.” Snickers roll through the few people sitting around the table.“B'lieve whatcha want, lad,” says the first. “but I heared it from me own cousin what jus' came down from that dwarven place in th' mount'ns...Brenuth.”“Meebe yer cousin 'ad a bit much o' tha' dwarven ale too, hey?” says a third person at the table. This earns him a swat across the side of his head from the first.“Now list'n ye idjits,” says the first, clearly getting a little irritated. “Me cousin says he passed through this li'l village tha' prolly ain' even got a name... said some ol' lady what's been missin' came back, all sick wit' somethin'. Said they put 'er to bed and the next mornin', weren't nothin' there but th' clothes she was wearin' and some kinna ooze they said smellt like a cow turned inside-out an' left in th' sun.”“Yer cousin got a lotta 'xperience wit' inside-out cows?” quips another, who is more out of reach of a swatting hand.“Oh har har,” says the first dryly and with a scowl. “Ain't 'is words. Was theirs. But there was also some young lad that dis'peared 'bout the same time as th' ol' lady. They foun' 'is clothes outside o' town, layin' on th' ground loike 'e jus' fell there an' vanished. Socks was in 'is shoes, belt 'round 'is tunic. Smellt th' same kinna awful, but was all dried up.” Some visible wincing can be seen among the others at the table listening to this tale.“So then what?” asks the third, apparently drawn into the story somewhat.“Well they burnt th' ol' lady's house t' ashes,” says the first. “No one wanted t' touch any of it. Built a fire 'round the lad, too.”“An' yer cousin saw alla tha'?” asks the fourth, squinting one eye slightly.“Nay, jus' 'eard 'em tellin',” says the first. “Said some was wantin' t' find some doctor, but iffn tha' doctor got any sense in 'im, 'e'll stay good 'n away from tha' place.” He ends with a nod and a long pull from his tankard while a couple of the others nod a bit. After a few long moments of relative silence between them, the conversation turned elsewhere.

Ancients Legacy / Plot status -- 11-Dec-2014
« on: December 17, 2014, 10:23:58 pm »
Rowana and I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the status of the plot quest and what's going to happen over the next couple of months. Also, thanks to everyone who has been involved and actively participating so far.The first and most important thing to note is that there will not be any main plot quests for the month of December. This is primarily due to generally full and/or hectic schedules people have during the holidays. The next main plot quest is currently intended for late January, and we'll get that up on the calendar when we're certain of it.Having said this, in the interim, there will be plot-related happenings serving as backdrop and potentially more information. Also, a few of you have some open threads of investigation...some initiated and some not. If we're waiting on you for information or to start the effort, please get that moving. If you're waiting on us, please PM us. Whatever the case, sooner is better.Lastly, some advice...Please remember this is a group effort. I know that some of your characters are not “team players” (you know who you are *winks*), and that is fine, but I highly suggest, if you are not already doing so, share what you have learned individually and do not, if at all possible, wait until the day of the next quest to catch people up. Likewise, if you are lacking information or wish to get caught up, try and meet up with someone else before the next session. Generally speaking, you'll “succeed” or “fail” as a group. Specific results may pivot on the decisions and actions of individuals, but remember this is plot-level, and the outcome of all of this will impact the world, for better or worse, at the end of it all. A few of you have picked up some important clues along the way. A few of you got some very important information on the last quest session, so, like I said, share.

Layonara Server / The NWN Servers are going to be moved
« on: December 04, 2014, 06:55:48 pm »
Hello everyone,I hope you and your loved ones are all well.I've recently been able to secure a great deal for the NWN Server on a much faster machine on a Black Friday special so we're going to be moving it over there some time in the near future.I'd like to get the server up and tested this month so we can confirm that everything is okay to go and I can cancel our previous account before the end of the month. I haven't yet set an exact date and time but I'm thinking maybe late Friday or Saturday night this week.Players shouldn't notice any difference, you will still connect to xora.layonara.com (5121 or 5122).  The IP address will change if you use that but I'll inform you of the new one when the time comes. This may also mean we can revert to automatic cross-server portals without crashes which might be nice but we'll have to test that. The new server will only cost $40 a month in donations so we can hopefully extend NWN Layonara at a fairly inexpensive price for as long as folks still enjoy coming here. For those curious and in the tech know:Existing server is a 4GB RAM, Dual 2.53GHz CPU, 250GB SATA HD running Windows 2k3 Server dedicated system.New server is a 10GB RAM, 10 2.3GHz CPU, 100GB Turbo SSD HD running Windows 2k8 Server cloud server. My initial tests have the servers starting up in half the time the old ones did. I'm not sure how much this will help lag and larger groups but we'll hopefully be able to test that. All the best,-orth

General Discussion / Layonara Itch
« on: November 14, 2014, 12:38:25 pm »
Hello everyone, I'm an old timer in layonara. It looks like it's been years since I used to play in these halls (or servers). And after all these years (5+ I believe) I found some free time at the end of this year to revisit some old games, and I got an itch to revisit two rp servers that I remember being fond of, Layonara and Prisioner os the Mist.

Does Layo still runs on nwn? Are there ongoing quests at this time? Are the servers alive? I'm itching to create a CG cleric of Kithairien, that I fondly remember being one of the gods of layonara that I "imported" to my own pnp setting (actually something of a little mix of kithairien and the hunter aspects of folian). If you're curious Ilsare, holy symbol and all, was another one of the "imported" gods, and a little darker and edgier version of xeen was the last of the three.

At the time I had some nice adventures with Eliza, my druid. I wonder if the people she knew still exist in the game!

Ancients Legacy / Dig Site
« on: October 26, 2014, 10:09:10 am »

The area of the site stretches across four horse lengths by another four. The ground has a low incline, appearing almost level compared to the rest of the surrounding mountainous land. Within the dig site, there is very little marked. A cloth has been pulled over a patch of land and folded up, revealing a wall segment. It juts up fromt the rest of the land like a partially buried boulder - however, the surface is somewhat smoothed. On its leftmost side as one faces the rock from its buried bottom, the edge of the rock cuts across some carvings, making them indecipherable or incomplete (as is the wall, obviously), but the pattern of four of the seven constellations currently in question remain visibly carved firmly into the wall by some unknown hand. Goran, Lucinda, Deliar, and Aragen, appearing in the places they might in the sky at this time.

After they've spoken for some time, and Katelyn has suggested her plan, Acacea rubs her cheek and looks around.

So... just to recap before you try that! There was probably some kinda wall somewhere before the Breaking, whether a temple or a shrine or even just a wall standing by itself to look neat, and it had the latest constellation patterns on it, which only became interesting when ...it became the latest constellation patterns on it! Probably all seven, though we're guessing 'cause Shindy, Dorand, and Prunilla have not made it with the rest of the wall... all blown up and such... See, what DID make it intact is like the sky right now! Or would be, were it dark! So a pretty good guess!

But things were flung from all over and valleys became mountains and there were volcanos and there were landmasses broken and islands sunk and all sorts of stuff in the Cataclysm, so we don't know where this wall was before, that we could look more into to see if there was some kind of prophecy stuff happening there!

So! The cat person said it most probably came from down and not up, and we'd have to go down. Ferrit's granddaughter (I need something shorter!) wants to try using the Couple's connection to see if we couldn't find where Prunilla went, though hopefully she's not just sand at this point...

Myself, I do not really have much else here, I think. The casters said it wasn't magic - maybe it was magic when it was whole, MAYBE, but it's not now, and I don't really have anything to go on, either! My other thing is that I was hoping there would be some magical hint here that tied the goings-on with the missing people. All we could divine ...or... they... could divine... She sighs. was that at least two were alive, and the recent boy is somewhere dark, maybe below. I'd like to know how the other one the lady looked at was 'different', too.

Even if these are not connected, I would like them found safe! There might be more we could look for by finding more missing peoples and trying to work backwards or combine focuseseses. So I think we've only got more questions, so we might as well hop to looking for things that might point us towards some answers... Whether hand-holdy holy water prayers, missing persons hunts, pre-cataclysmic map hunting, digging, legend hunting, and so on!

She smiles brightly. Unfortunately, a lot of that is, from what I hear, things people have been trying to do already with the stars changing, with no luck so far. So! Carry on...

Ancients Legacy / Digging for Answers or Another Brick in the Wall
« on: October 20, 2014, 02:03:02 am »
"And so he's sitting there at the table," he said, clearly bemused, "Talking about this ancient wall he found. He said it's up in the mountains and was trying to see who wanted to come look at it with him."" An 'ancient wall'?" the halfling woman asked, curious."Aye," the man answered. He took a long swallow from his tea. "It certainly was curious! I mean he makes a real sell with the supposed partial carvings of the four deities. Deliar is among these so I cannot help but be curious.""Are you thinking of going?" she asked. "I am, but I don't know if I'd have time," he answered, somewhat disappointed with the admission. "I cannot miss my window of opportunity in Fort Vehl. You know how it is there...." She nodded and tugged at her lower lip briefly. "If I didn't have this full load of textiles...""Well maybe put the word out?" she suggests hopefully, "With all that's going on, some answers certainly wouldn't hurt return everything to something more normal." She shook her head, "If that 'soothesayer' comes out to the fields again to preach at us about 'end of the world as we know it,' I think I'm going to lose my mind. Doesn't he have to prepare for winter like the rest of us?" She makes a disgusted sound but then shrugs. He snorted in reply. "Some of these people," he said in agreement with her sentiment, "No sense in them. If we go to pieces after every 'major happening' how in Layonara would we ever recover from the real tragedies?" He laughed a little. "Yes, I think I might pass this along on my route. I wasn't the only traveler in the bar tht night. Some people were far more taken in too. You know, what with the way people are reacting to the star movements and all." She nodded soberly. "Until He tells me otherwise, I have a schedule to keep!" he says dramatically, stabbing one stubby finger in the air. She laughed then laid her head down on his shoulder. "Well either way," she says, "I'm glad it was an interesting evening and you kept your sense and came home to me instead." He grinned at her."Like there's any contest.""Lay it on thick," she snorted and then laughed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------Some days later, at the sensible advice from his wife, the halfling trader was in the bar along his route sharing the story of the gnome he met in Brenuth. Good food and ale in his belly to warm him, he shares the tale again and again of the mysterious artifact from another era, supposedly carrying the marks of four of The Seven, including his own Deliar.
