Guilds and Councils / Attention: Guilds and Organizations« on: January 28, 2013, 04:17:25 pm »
Want to create an icon for your organization to be displayed as a badge for members under their profile?
The icon must be 32x32px and preferably having a black background unless the entire image takes up the 32x32 in which case the background is irrelevant. Please reply and attach the image in this thread. Here's an example shot of some of my "badges" on the new system. Also please note you no longer need to apply for membership to specific deity based forums or the druid one. The system will automatically know you have a character who follows that deity (provided your deity is correctly entered upon creation or a GM has set your deity). General Discussion / End of an Era« on: January 02, 2013, 12:57:42 pm »
For many of you this will come as no surprise, my absences of late saying far more than words. I wanted though to remove doubts and make it official.
When I joined way back, Layonara was a different place with a different vibe but like all things it has evolved over the years. People and places change and sometimes relationships grow apart. Its hard to admit when something no longer works and that apart is far better than together. Layonara was a salvation in my life in a time when I needed an escape from my reality. Now Layonara only serves mostly as a catalyst of angst and that's not the way it is supposed to be. So from here forward I am stepping down as an active game master and administrator. I will still be around in the background as part of the team for Lore consultations and I still have some quest loose ends to tie up or move to other game masters. I am not leaving all together as I will be turning my concentration to the art of the MMO and writing. Sincerely Minerva The following users thanked this post: Talia

Layonara Server / Bonus XP Week....ish« on: December 17, 2012, 11:34:38 pm »
Do I have your attention? *grins*
It's time again for one of our famous bonus XP events. Here's the details:
Bear in mind it is the holidays, and GM availability will be subject to other obligations first, but I've gotten assurances from at least some of our GMs for scheduled and impromptu events and the like. Rewards for RP are rated higher than combat, so remember to make time for it. There have been several new characters lately from new and old players alike, so hopefully there will be some good opportunities for all. Old faces are always good as well, of course. Make something happen! The following users thanked this post: Talia

General Discussion / Arena Tournament?« on: December 01, 2012, 07:15:33 pm »
Hey all,
I was just thinking about putting on a little quests in the Vehl Arena. A fighting tournament, with level brackets. Those would be New Adventurer (1-15), Veteran (15-20), and if more show up, perhaps another category, (21 and up). There would be one on one duels for each bracket, as well as a battle royal for each bracket. At the end the New Adventurer champion would try to take on the Veteran champion, but the Veteran champion would have limitations to the equipment, weapons, and armor he or she could use, for both the top three of each battle royal champions, and the winner of each one on one duel would also fight, with the Veteran having the same limitations as those in the battle royal. Perhaps with some food vendors and weapon venders, and with special weapons as rewards for victory? I would be willing to run it, but perhaps with some GM assistance. Just throwing this idea out there to see how many would turn up, and if it would be a good quest or a flop. Just a though Teo The following users thanked this post: Talia

Just for Fun / Procrastination...« on: March 31, 2010, 07:25:17 pm »
Procrastination... I love it so.
It's almost half past midnight here, and I'm staring at my computer screen with dazed eyes. My essay is due in just under 12 hours and I still haven't finished it. I stupidly got Mario kart for my DS yesterday so I'm picking it up every half hour or so and racing away. And now I'm writing a random thread on Layo, and after that I'm going to go look up procrastination on wikipedia... ohh the irony *facepalms*. So tell me folks, whats your biggest vice when there's work to do? Ohh, and if anyone could give me roughly 800 words to finish off my essay I'd appreciate it . General Discussion / Scavenger Hunt - Again.« on: January 31, 2010, 02:54:59 am »
First one was so much fun, I'm going to do this again on Feb 21
This time I'm giving a tad more notice and trying for a neutral timezone so as many as possible can participate. Rules. 1) Teams of 2-8 players - you make the teams, not me. You can form them before the event or from whomever shows up. My only request is that vetran players and novice players make an effort to team up together to share the Layonara experience and get to know one another. 2) Teams must stay together. No splitting in different directions to cover as much ground as possible. The only exception would be if particular players were mechanically (ie less than level 10 needing to enter an advanced craft hall) or RP (paladin of Toran entering another temple) able to follow. Those players would wait for their team at the most sensible spot, not wander off on their own. You may band together to accomplish a difficult task. 3) You have four hours to gather as many of the items as possible. You must return to the start point within the time allowed to qualify. In the event of a tie, the team with the most items in the shortest time wins. Time is recorded when at least 75% of the team is back. Last time we had some lag issues that almost disqualified a team - pay attention but I will make some allowances for slower computer systems. 4) Some items will have enough for all teams to collect and others will be limited. Limited items are a first come, first served basis. You can, as stategy take multiple items unless I have a sign or tag not to. This can be part of your strategy if you wish. I will do my best to make the location as unabigious as possible, however as brilliant as a I am :p I do not know every spawn on the server. If you are after bees knees and find a source that I was unaware of, you may be out of luck. This happened last time, I will try not to let it happen again. 5) If you are playing on the servers while I am setting up - please don't take the items from the scavenger teams. 6) There will be items that will require killing an animals/creatures to obtain and others that could be obtained by passive means or gathering. This will allow more passive characters the choice to participate in a non violent manner without direct GM intervention, but choices and RP within the group are part of the fun. Items will be tagged special for the scavenger hunt such that raiding of guild hall supplies and personal stores will not give an advantage. 7) Besides bragging rights, the winning team will have an undetermined prize pot and a "really nice item" to roll for within the group. Second place will have a consolation prize for team members. Please note - this is for all levels. There will be items that only an epic party might obtain and those that players of any level may obtain. It it more about knowing where things are on the server and exploration than levels. Please don't feel intimidated if you are a lower level. This is a great oppertunity to explore and get to know your fellow players. The following users thanked this post: Talia

General Discussion / What would you like from a world leader?« on: September 10, 2009, 04:28:10 am »
As my playtime has sadly been decreasing over the course of the last few months and doesn't really seem to be changing right away I find myself wondering what people would want from me as a world leader, or just from a world leader in general.
The reason is of course that with limited playtime I would like to make as much of the time I have as possible, and traveling with the same people all the time isn't really the best way of getting people in touch with Storold as a world leader. The requirements listen in the forums and on LORE wont really be a problem for me to fulfil, unless I loose my internet connection or something like that I will probably still be above five hours a week, and nowhere close to the five hours a month. But... I would like to know what the player base would like to see more of and try to focus my efforts on those things when I have the time to play rather than spending my time idling or grinding when I am online. So I hope that people will speak up about their view of what a world leader should spend his or her time on. The following users thanked this post: Talia

Wild Surge Inn / ** Voon Loom, Cleric of Beryl have passed away **« on: April 11, 2008, 05:36:53 pm »
* The title draws you neared to the parchment that have been sat up on the most common places of worship in the lands and major inns. *
Cleric of Beryl Voon Loom have passed away this Sunra, Junar 1, 1431. He was carried by Kobal Bluntaxe on his shield, and followed suit by the very people He to the end protected with his death. His deeds will be remembered, and his sacrifice to his beliefs and the city of Stone. Stone a city that were rebuild from being under the occupation of Bloodstones forces, with pure determination because of Voon's unselfish donations and tireless efforts. This city will be he resting place in his death. He leaves his only family, his brother Boon. I urge everyone that have known him, to write here to celebrate a new chapter in his life, a place where he can do as much good, as he did here on Layonara with us, his friends. Rest in Piece old friend. *signed by A Friend * The following users thanked this post: Talia
