Character Development Quests (CDQ's) / Thanks for Vlanin's CDQ
« on: October 01, 2007, 09:25:54 am »
I like to say thanks to Pseudonym (Shadow) for Vlanin's character development quest, and for drawing from some of the poignant parts of Vlanin's CDT to make it a memorable event for poor Vlanin (and me :) ).

Ah, sweet Mischa...

One fine diamond for auction. May consider wizardly items as part of payment, particularly items "of the Fox".

General Discussion / Duergar, Drow, And Svirfneblin - What's In A Name
« on: September 02, 2007, 09:57:10 pm »
In a recent post, the term "duergar" was corrected to "deep dwarf". Have I missed a prior posting that advised us of this, or is this part of the Layonara milieu that I was unaware of but should be?

Also, should we be using different terminology for "drow" and "svirfneblin"?

General Discussion / Crafting Spell Components
« on: August 22, 2007, 05:44:11 am »
This post was initiated after a visit to the local merchants:

Leather Armor (2 days to produce) : 8gp
Studded Leather Armor (3 days to produce) : 12gp
A Small Bit Of Cured Hide (offcut from the above) : 91gp
Twisted Leather Strip (offcut from the above, after I twiddled with it for a while) : 98gp

The Campaign Handbook says that it is possible to craft some spell components (the Handbook also says "A Small Bit Of Cured Hide" costs 25gp and a "Twisted Leather Strip" is 5gp :\\ ). Given this is the case, is there a guide somewhere that details what has to be done?

Ask A Gamemaster / Spellcaster's Guide to Layonara
« on: May 23, 2007, 08:49:05 am »
Is there a "Spellcaster's Guide to Layonara"?

I just cast "Summon Creature I", expecting my trusty side kick to accompany me as I explored this new world of Layonara, when, ten seconds later, it evaporated. Fortunately, in that amount of time, I hadn't actually been able to engage the hostile lurking further up the road, nor had it seen me.

Are spellcasters meant to do without their summons?

Is there some other strategy to be employed?

Sorry, I am new here, and obviously the established spellcasters have successfully negotiated this little hump when they first started. However, a few pointers on what's different to standard NWN/D&D, perhaps why it was changed, and how to work with it would be helpful.

Community Project Support Forum / (Spoiler) Black Wizards/Orc Brutes
« on: February 17, 2007, 09:19:29 pm »
(BTW, where you see "I", nine times out of ten, you can substitute "my character"; however, "I" is much quicker to type.)

After meeting Xora in her tower for the first time, I meet a black wizard out side and get whisked away to the Black Wizards' tower to have a conflab. At the end of the conversation, they don't whisk me back. Now, this wouldn't normally be a problem, because, hey, I enjoy a good walk, but, in this case, the only way back entails a jaunt through "Orc Brute" territory. The problem is, the Orc Brutes thump me, thump me good, thump me dead.

I think you can see my point; not having initially travelled through an area to get to the Black Wizards' Tower, I now have to travel back through an area that is too tough for me.

It seems to me, either the Black Wizards should whisk me back from whence they whisked me, or the Orc Brutes are too tough. Or I am doing something totally incorrectly, and need advise.

BTW, my character is a third level bard, and has the dwarven henchman.
