Fixed Bugs / No Emotes On Central For Argali Trueaxe
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:51:37 am »
Bug Report

Description: Emotes and verbal skill checks are not working for Argali Trueaxe on Central since at least yesterday (~27 hours ago; there have been three server restarts since then).

I have tried using the "PC Emote" widget to toggle them off and on, and also the  "/o C toggle[ _]emote*" command (all permutations).

If emotes are done using personal listeners, it would seem mine has gone off to get a better job. :)

Reproducable: Tried in Orcs Watch and Fort Miritrix. DM couldn't hear my character in the Great Desert.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / The Boy And The Beast
« on: February 14, 2008, 09:34:06 am »
A strange tale starts to circulate, spoken in hushed tones and only to those near and trusted. It seems to originate from Highpass Fort. A beast of horn and scale has been spotted once again, in the skies above the Mountain of Storms. Its path of destruction clear to see, having lain low a group of adventurers. But what was it doing, whom was it after?

"A boy," the words are barely breathed, and a furtive glance as to who else might be listening. A human child speaking only the tongue of the elves. The beast, believed to be some minion of those who bear the tattoo of the green dragon, sent to retrieve him.

While most of the group courageously engaged the beast in mortal combat, a few, perhaps more shrewd than the rest, stole the boy away, out of harm's reach.

"What was so special about the lad?"

The question is met with a slow indraw of breath. "A dragonling," comes the whispered response.

There follows a moment of silence as implications are considered. "So, what happened to them?"

In tones a little more relaxed, "In the end, the boy was safely delivered."

"To whom?"

A meaningful glance is exchanged.

"Fisterion."

Rumour Has It / Vampire Attack On Dregar
« on: February 11, 2008, 11:11:39 pm »
*On hearing of the vampire troubles on Mistone, a small troupe of adventurers relate the tale of how they came to rescue the elder daughter and young son of a family who had been attacked by vampires. The family had been travelling through the Backbone Mountains of Dregar when they became lost, and were set upon. The heroes themselves were attacked and nearly overun by the vampires. It was only by fleet-of-foot and some daring-do that they were able to affect the rescue.*

The Dragon Storm Campaign / The Dragon That Wasn't There
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:15:12 am »
*It hardly takes any coercion to get this tale told, just the mention of the 'd' word.*

"Argali knows the new tale of the drragons! Yes!

"We arre in the stinky, stinky Swamps of the Sorrows on Alindorr, looking forr the killerrs of zis lady's husband and son. Yes, it was verry sad.

"We arre finding the remains of the bodies, but no signs of the trrail. Then, one who iz therre beforre, iz rememberring the blue drragon. Yes, she iz therre in the original tale! Zo, Arrynne, who iz quite good at the crraft of the woods, iz leading us deeperr and deeperr into the stinky swamps to find the drragon.

"Then, you arre neverr guessing what. We arre finding the biggest bearr that was everr therre was! At the shoulderr, it iz tallerr than the big ogrre! Yes! And he iz not verry happy to see us. When the elf iz going up to zay hello... it eats herr!" *makes exaggarated biting and chewing motions* "Therre iz not much left afterrwarrds.

"Afterr the long fight, when many heroes of the renown arre lending theirr steel and skill, we arre finally besting the giant bearr. Zome, who arre knowing about zhese things, arre zaying the bearr iz poisoned the same way the drragons arre poisoned, giving them the red eye. Therre iz the small disagrreement overr what to be doing with the carrcass of the bearr.

"Next, we arre making ourr way into..." *makes overly dramatic voice* "the lairr of the drragon." *nods in her own excitement*

"On the way in, we arre finding the body of the person who iz courrageously going ahead and finding all the trraps forr the grroup.

"Courrageous? Foolish? Argali iz always getting zhose two mixed up.

"Finally, we arre finding the blue drragon of the deepest sapphirre. It iz coming out and zaying..." *makes a deep, booming voice* "'Begone, iz grrumpy today, and iz not seeing people.'

"Zo, Argali takes the drragon at its worrd, and turrns arround to be going. But zome of the otherrs, who arre having the morre curiosity than the zense, arre wanting to talk to the drragon. Zo, the drragon iz eating them.

"At zis point, Argali iz thinking it would be the time to be going. But the otherrs arre zaying, let us be looking arround its lairr. Zo, in they arre going, and the drragon comes out and iz zaying... *makes a deep, booming voice* "'Begone, iz grrumpy today, and iz not seeing people.' And again, the drragon iz eating them.

"Then Sasha, who iz verry cleverr at these sorrts of things, iz noticing the drragon iz zaying exactly the same thing each time. Zo, she iz going in, and the drragon comes out and iz zaying... *makes a deep, booming voice* "'Begone, iz grrumpy today, and iz not seeing people.'

"Zis time, everryone iz fighting the drragon, and defeats it. Yes! But when it iz defeated, they arre zaying, iz not real drragon, iz magic. Zo, despite eating nearrly half the grroup, the drragon iz not really therre!

"Only question iz," *with a small glint in her eye* "who iz making zis magic? And why?

"And wherre iz the blue drragon?"

Fixed Bugs / Changing Cloak Appearance At Customization Station

Bug Report

Description: I am trying to change the appearance of a cloak using the customisation objects in the crafting hall in Hempstead. When I cycle through "next appearance" option, it only alternates between not being there/invisible and the current shape, rather than cycling through the possible cloak models. I have tried this on Riam's Cloak and a "standard" (non-imbued) cloak.

Reproducable: I have tried this on a few occasions with the same result.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / The Captured Gold Dragon
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:58:54 pm »
Quote from: Dezza
*Sasha Tomyris, bearing the armour, blade and shield of the Knight of the Wyrm steps forward to make her comments known*

I was recently a prisoner of some slavers and cast into their arena sports for their entertainment. It was during one of these bouts I witnessed a young dragon brought forth to be forced to fight in the pit. Before the battle could ensue however a group of hooded and cloaked men appeared and argued with the slaver authorities before dragging the dragon away.

My investigations so far have led me to believe they came on a ship from Arnax.

The Dragon Storm Campaign / The Words Of Kharaz, Voice Of The Eternal Flame
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:36:31 pm »
Many had gathered at the Stormcrest Crossroads on that fateful day of Sunra, the Eighth Day of Novlar, Fourteen Hundred and Twenty-Five. Veteran heroes who had already left their mark on great events and aspiring heroes newly putting their shoulders to turn the wheel of worldly affairs, each with their own motives for being there. But they were all there for the same reason, to hear the words of Kharaz, Voice of the Eternal Flame, Servant of Fisterion, King of Dragons.

[INDENT]"It is well that so many allies have come at my call. Time is of the essence and we have little of it. You stand here, either representing those who fleshed out an alliance with my lord, or simply because you are curious. The Storm that was foretold is gaining in strength and ferocity. Sides are offered and being chosen by those who cannot remain neutral. For in fact, none will remain untouched by it. My lord offers you information and calls upon your aid in weathering this avalanche.

"Things are in motion right now, on the ice wastes of the Barbarian Isles. A group has sent its emissaries there based on information passed to them here. I wager that even some of you, here, may have a fault in that.

"My lord has no quarrel with you, Rofirenite. He has not waged war against the Gold for many generations. Has he not held true to the alliance? Is there not peace with him?

"That is indeed what they have come to do. One way or another they will bring Knad'radoniad into their fold. One way or another. We do not know who. Right now we need to act based on what we know. Fact is that many have joined their faction. More than should be possible.

"Some of them stand out due to their tattoos. A green dragon's head, often found on neck or shoulder. As I said. The tattoo depicts the head of a Green Dragon. It has also minor magical properties.

"Where did you sight them? On Dregar?

"Its magic fades upon the death of the bearer. We know not their exact properties.

"I have passed you vital information already. Perhaps not to all, but I have confirmed what those who may know some things, already fear.

"Who spoke of poison? Who? Step forward. Speak your mind, goblin."
[/INDENT]

Perhaps the least likely of those gathered, a single wretched goblin, provided the details of how the dragons were being captured, shot with great ballista bearing poisoned spears, poison that would sap the dragon's magics, perhaps, perhaps made from a Bloodpool...

[INDENT]"It would explain much.

"I am afraid we have not much time. The Hunters are converging on their prey as we speak. If they have the means and reach their goal before they are stopped, they will have gained an ally more powerful than you can imagine. Knad'radoniad is old.

"My exact proposal, elf. I know not their numbers, but they travel high over the skies, so they cannot be many.

"Fisterion honours the treaty. He offers information in a time of the uppermost need.

"Knad'radoniad is the ancient White also known as Snowtooth. He rules the Whitefall Kingdom on Bastil. Knad'radoniad may not welcome a force such as this one. However, sand trickles through the hourglass as we speak here.

"Slay them. How you accomplish it, is not my concern.

"I do not believe they will 'meet'. They will come and offer their terms. One way or another, the outcome will likely be the same.

"They are coming from the east. A drake is following them. If you hurry and with a fast ship you can make it there in time. They will not be able to make the trip in one stretch. Humans are not fit for flight.

"My Lord offers you a chance.  Step away now and you will never get another.

"On Bastil is my best guess.

"I have spoken as my lord commanded. The rest is for heroes to act upon. He offers a chance, my lady. A chance for the future. Whether you grasp it or not, is your decision.

"The isle is far from here.

"My Lord has been true to the treaty, has he not? Perhaps with some good will shown today, the future looks brighter for all. The choice is yours. Always. But with it comes a warning of what is to come."
[/INDENT]

The words were heard by many, and no doubt repeated often, in part or in whole, either in guarded tones or, perhaps, as part of a fantastic tale that few might believe.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Continuing To Attack CNR After It Is Exhausted
« on: November 27, 2007, 09:06:21 pm »
From this request for reimbursement.

Continuing to attack CNR after it is exhausted/destroyed is this is something I observed three times in the first session of collecting CNR. For example:

Code: [Select]
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:31] Argali Trueaxe attacks Choppable Tree - Oak : *hit* : (11 + 6 = 17)
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:31] Argali Trueaxe damages Choppable Tree - Oak: 7 (7 Physical)
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:31] Choppable Tree - Oak : Damage Resistance absorbs 3 damage
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:31] You have chopped off a Branch of Oak!
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:31] [COLOR=Blue]That's the end of that![/COLOR]
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:33] [COLOR=Red]Off Hand : Argali Trueaxe attacks Choppable Tree - Oak : *hit* : (11 + 11 = 22)[/COLOR]
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:36] Acquired Item: Branch of Oak
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sat Nov 24 22:09:47] Argali Trueaxe: All chopped.
[Script Wrecked] Argali Trueaxe: [Talk] All chopped.

In this case, I observed the tree placeable fade out after the "That's the end of that!" message, then briefly fade in for the final blow, before finally fading out.

Would it be possible to add a ClearAllActions() on the character to take them out of combat when the CNR is destroyed?

The Dragon Storm Campaign / A Little Girl And Her Ring
« on: November 09, 2007, 08:14:20 pm »
In the Leringard Arms, amidst the general carousing, a group of three dwarves, an elf, and two humans, although those who are sharp of eye may have thought that one of the humans was possibly half elven, sit at a table. Although they started off solemnly enough, and seemed quite concerned about their hostess, Lily, as the evening wore on, at least some of their number, and particularly the dwarves, became in better spirits, especially after a few restorative ales were passed around.

When asked about their revelry, they tell a bizarre tale of how they were all inflicted mortal wounds by this little girl, well, all except one anyway. They had retrieved her ring from deep under the Broken Halls, from a wyrm no less, but were reluctant to give it to her because of her sinister and menacing, and some would even say threatening behaviour. A fracas ensued, but before the little girl was able to take the ring, one of the dwarves cleft the ring in two.

"To Bart the Ring Cleaver!" the toast goes up, and some, who have already had a bit too much to drink, take to opportunity to drink some more.

The little girl had taken the two pieces of the ring, but in an act of compassion, or contrition, or perhaps out of ego, had restored one of the fallen, and given her name.

"Dra'kt, she called herself. But also Samantha, and even Daisy."

The Dragon Storm Campaign / Blue Dragon In The Swamp Of Sorrows
« on: November 08, 2007, 09:40:30 am »
*If coerced over an ale, Argali Trueaxe tells the tale of a blue dragon in the Swamp of Sorrows*

"Zis iz funny, Argali knows the two stories about drragons. But zis one was told to Argali in the Halls of Taurr'en.

"Yes, Argali iz from therre.

"Anyway, two yearrs ago...

"Yes, that iz Fourteen-Twenty-Two...

"As Argali was saying, in the month of Darrk-Deep, which the humans call Febrra, one of the kin, while trravelling in the Swamps of the Sorrows, which the kin call Place of the Big Stink...

"No, no." *laughing* "Argali just made than up." *laughs*

"No, the kin call it something like Trroll Lairr, orr Trroll Spawn Bog.

"Anyway, while trraveling thrrough the Swamps of the Sorrows with the grroup of the adventurrerrs, they come across the biggest, bluest drragon that everr therre was! Yes!

"And not just one of the young, happy, playful ones either, but the big, adult, grreedy, hungrry ones. It even, it even eats one of the adventurrerrs! Yes!

*shrugs* "Argali does not know. You would have to find one of the adventurrerrs who werre therre. They could tell you why they werre trravelling acrross the swamps.

"Another ale? Hmm... Argali probably has had enough to go to herr head now."

1414
*If coerced over an ale, Argali Trueaxe tells the tale of a young black dragon in the farmlands outside of Port Hempstead*

"Yes! It iz trrue! The small, and when Argali says small, she iz not meaning like the chicken or the dog, but ratherr the..."

*thinks*

"Well, as tall as the house when it iz standing uprright.

"Anyway, zis drragon took quite the shine to some of the memberrs of ourr grroup, but you would have to ask them morre about that. It even seemed frriendly, if you can believe that.

"You can ask the farrmerrs. They will tell you." *nods*

"Anotherr ale? Oh yes. Thank you..."

General Discussion / Duergar, Drow, And Svirfneblin - What's In A Name
« on: September 02, 2007, 09:57:10 pm »
In a recent post, the term "duergar" was corrected to "deep dwarf". Have I missed a prior posting that advised us of this, or is this part of the Layonara milieu that I was unaware of but should be?

Also, should we be using different terminology for "drow" and "svirfneblin"?
