Not telepathy but these spells might be available to you if there is a DM around to oversee the rp to avoid any abuse magicmouth message sending not sure if that is what you're looking for, all 3 would likely be easy to trace by any caster, but they do allow you to send messages over distance.

No telepathy. The subject in general is best left to DM supervision. I personally support various forms of magical sendings, but more in line with the LORE birds with a magical flair than any instant mind-to-mind communication, which is pretty strictly off-limits. The only examples of mind-to-mind are very rare DM occurrences and those are often occasions of empathy rather than formed words.
Maybe you could tackle this IC by conspiring to come up with codes and gestures and the like. You wouldn't be the first! 6

As Lance said, the possibilities for abuse of telepathy would be huge - "You can't lie to me, I know what you're thinking!" - so rather than deal with the inevitable conflicts that would result, it was decided that the better approach would be to leave people's thoughts inviolate.
Tongues would make a bit of a mockery of all the people who worked hard on their submissions or afterward to learn other languages. And memory alteration would, as with telepathy, be very prone to abuse and metagaming - so it was decided long ago that this, too, would not be found in the mage skillset. 7

Memory manipulation is also not permitted outside of GM-run events with extenuating circumstances.
Edit: To address one of your original points, there are no spells like Tongues in Layonara either. 8

Telepathy is not allowed in any form as the rules said, Due the conflicts that it brings.

Roleplaying / Kudos for great roleplay« on: September 23, 2010, 04:15:01 am »
Ty's trial was a great effort involving a lot of people so well done all involved, a tremendous effort.
Sitting on the benches at the back though, I must remark how the defence attorney made the prosecutor look useless, so well done Tralek Rivarmar...you made the prosecutor look so bad that I wondered if he had been paid to play into Tralek's hands And special thanks of course to Hellblazer for putting himself into that position...it was a risky thing to do but he played it well, in my opinion from the back benches. And finally to Masterjack and the other gms who had hands in setting everything up. Great stuff. 11

I think a good kudos is due to Jrizz who wasn't able to get on tonight but still took the time to write up a good letter to judge Kirus. Just thought I'd share it as an example of what I think is a very good out of game rp, even if it's just a letter. Quote:

It seems to me like we have a toggle that will allow you to see the crafting and mining rolls so you know what rolls you're getting, but for the life of me I can't recall what the command is.
=toggle ? Dorg? Sorry I'm drawing a blank. 16
Ask A Gamemaster / Mining picks« on: September 22, 2010, 11:54:19 am »
Does sound like you got very unlucky on several rolls. As Masterjack pointed out, you want to get each nugget in as few hits as possible. Because the chance to break them is not per nugget, but for each hit I believe.

Ask A Gamemaster / Mining picks« on: September 22, 2010, 11:22:02 am »
Yes it is not unheard of to go through alot of picks while mining. Not too long ago Dorg changed how sturdy picks were (for the better). There is a chance that on each hit an ore deposit you will break a pick. You are guaranteed to get at least one nugget from each pick. So the best way to mine is to have a character who has a high Strength and or have power attack / Improved power attack. That way you require fewer hits to mine each nugget.
So if your character has a low strength, you will have a higher broken pick to mined nugget ratio then a high str character. 18

Just the luck of the dice. In the original CNR system, there was a 10% chance of breaking a tool on a given use. I don't know what our current settings are, but sometimes the dice just hate you.
It could be worse; the dice could have it in for you where the Soul Mother is concerned. Picks are a relatively lenient way to get off. 19
NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / True Sight vs Rogues« on: September 21, 2010, 09:27:10 pm »
Heck that sounds actually good. What could maybe be done, not sure. is if the initiative check is failed by the npc, you get a an effect that might blind for a round the npc when fighting a rogue or sd. Also if there is a tumble check that is needed rolled (not sure if there is other reason why a tumble check is rolled in combat, but if the pc moves) again that effect could be made or anything similar that could give at least 1 or 2 sneak attack in that round.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / True Sight vs Rogues« on: September 21, 2010, 08:54:53 pm »
I really like the idea of making dirty fighting actually useful. With such a cool name it's very disappointing.
What about this, you can use dirty fighting for it, but you'd have to change the requirements and the effect. The rogue sacrifices all other attacks in the round and attempts to cut the creature right above the eyes and impair the creature's vision as blood will stream down into its eyes. You'd make a single attack in a round like with dirty fighting, but instead of the 1d4 bonus damage you get a blinding effect, if the creature fails a reflex save (DC = 10 + PC's dex bonus). Requirements would be epic assassin (11), or rogue (20 to 30-ish). Sadly the pure rogue lvl requirement needs to be very high for balance in respect to multi-classing. Also, it shouldn't be working on creatures with crit immunity, but I'm not sure how that is done with abilities like crippling strike. (think those are hard-coded) EDIT: Despite of Dorg putting things in perspective while I was typing, I still like the idea. |
