Wild Surge Inn / Krandor Hospital seeks stewards

Krandor Hospital seeks stewards

It is the mission of Krandor Hospital to:
  • Provide healing and safety for those in need
  • Conduct research into poisons, diseases, illnesses and conditions in order to provide cures and better treatments.
  •    Promote works of beauty and music as healing of the spirit
  •    Investigate and act against threats contrary to the ideals of Krandor Hospital

Krandor Hospital provides two wards for sick, two operating theatres, a guild section, library, kitchen, a dormitory for young healers and musicians (currently one resident, Rocky) and a hostel for travellers.

Krandor Hospital is fully funded by charity and its endowments. No charges shall be levied for its services. Galathea Arnaduillae wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to the many generous donations and offers of help which has made this possible.

If you believe in these ideals and wishes to actively support them then we are seeking stewards to oversee the running and provide expert help. Herbalists, healers, research wizards, alchemists, musicians, brewers, cooks, woodsmen and more are needed; but needed most of all are kind hearts and gentle hands.

The patron deity of Krandor Hospital is Beryl, but no acts of worship or declarations of faith are requested, only respect. Toranites are welcome to join and will not be asked to go against their faith, but they are reminded not to speak or act disrespectfully towards Beryl. Followers of Baraeon Ca'duz, Branderback, Corath, Grand, Pyrtechon, Shadon, Sulterio & Vierdri'ira need not apply.

Dark elves and gray dwarves are advised they must provide sufficient evidence to convince Galathea Arnaduillae they have repented their ways and are no longer rabid, homicidal killers hell-bent on the enslavement, slaying and torture of all civilised races. Failure to do so may result in unwarranted attention.

All interested parties should write to Galathea Arnaduillae (//send a pm).
/Alexandrite Arnaduillae

//Feel free to take a look around the hospital, the door is always unlocked and apart from one or two signs it is furnished and ready.

//Galathea will donate a fully furnished hospital and the needed true to establish the guild. BUT, once the guild is up and running she will hold no special position nor retain any privileges (apart from the right to turn away dark elves and gray dwarves she doesn't trust.

//The guild is open to all regardless of levels, classes or skills. I do in fact hope it can be a meeting ground between new and old players and characters.

//Please note the rules on guilds, which can be found here: LORE: Player Guilds and Organizations

//First order of business will be to arrange for staff. That is first order of business once we have the members and approval for a guild

Rumour Has It / A lone cleric returns
« on: December 13, 2009, 09:24:19 am »
A lone dark haired priestess of Beryl is rumoured to have returned alone from the deep wearing a battered cloak covered in sparkling dust.

//made it out! Thanks to all on the trip I had fun even if it took too long and I had to leave you by the mithril ore.

General Discussion / Question for Pseud on Giraffes
« on: June 24, 2009, 05:40:39 pm »
In response to:

Definition of evil: YouTube - Eddie Izzard - Evil Giraffe

Are we to fear you will be enforcing "Giraffe language" on all your quests now?

So instead of going "Die goblin scum" we should go like this:

"Goblin, I've noticed that in our previous meetings, we get very critical of each others life. For instance, the other day you suggested reviewing my life insurance because I would soon be needing it, and I jumped on you for suggesting it, though it's actually a necessary step. I have noticed that we've ended up doing something like this in almost every meeting in the last few months. It also seems to be getting worse. Would you agree with this description of the situation?"

Well IC she is in Stone at the temple on business, but OOC her "master" (or is the other way around?) is spending the next four weeks under the tropical sun on a small island 7 degrees south of the Equator just of the Eastafrican coast.

:)

Ooooh and yes it really is a paradise here :)

Ask A Gamemaster / Brownie life expectancy and aging - Ed
« on: May 04, 2009, 03:19:07 am »
I have searched LORE and the forums, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to how long brownies live and how they age.

I have looked at (among others) these threads:

http://forums.layonara.com/races-layonara/95095-brownies.html

LORE: Brownie

LORE: Character Submission

Being distant relatives of haflings and pixies should they age like haflings as the submissions of many seem to indicate or ? Brownies seem - to me - a touch more magical than haflings and so I would expect them to live longer than haflings, perhaps aging along the lines of gnomes.

Anything official ?

I readily admit this is a luxery request, but I would love for it to be implemented.

At the moment we can name weapons, bags and furniture with the quill (more?), would it be possible to extend that functionality to include jewelry, armour, shields, helmets and accessories?

Its purely roleplay, but Galathea has named all her rings (being a priestess of Beryl) and I would love to be able to use the quill to rename them in game. The same would go for her armour etc..

That way, when she makes a ring or gifts one, she can inscribe its name and maker in it thus leaving her mark on the world.

to quote Monkey Island: Pretty please with sugar on the top....

General Discussion / That time of year - BST versus GMT
« on: April 01, 2009, 02:35:23 pm »
Summertime is over us again which means that (apart from confused animals, ruined sleep etc):

BST = GMT+1 = UTC+1
CEST = CET+1 = GMT+2 = UTC+2

In short the GMT time is one hour behind "normal".

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Gnomism repeating crossbow
« on: March 29, 2009, 03:33:32 pm »
Currently there are - as far as I know from enquiring IC and OOC - no special crossbows in the drop tables.

On top of this the gnomish repeating crossbow is essentially useless. It costs a lot to craft in terms of ressources and difficulty, but because it has unlimited ammo you cannot use your own special ammo. It also has a level requirement of 19.

I know there arent many players who reguarly uses crossbows, but when I ask why I uniformly get the answer: "because they are all useless/c**p.

The great majority of foes where I migth wish to stand back and use a crossbow at level 19 and beyond have damage reduction etc so the only realistic way for a non-rogue to harm them is via special ammo - which you cannot use with this crossbow.

With the 1.69 patch the "rapid reload feat" was fixed and is now working I therefore suggest that instead of having unlimited ammo (which renders this crossbow useless) the gnomish repeating crossbow grants the rapid reload feat. This will also make sense IC as it will then acutally be a "repeating crossbow" (in the meaning rapid firring which was the only point of repeating crossbows).

It will also give us few crossbow users out there something different and worthwhile to wield.

So old crossbow:
attack bonus +2
+1 dex
unlimited ammo

Suggested crossbow
asttack bonus +2
+1 dex
Rapid reload feat

I believe this will go some way in making this crossbow worthwhile considering the ressources, difficulty in making and level requirements.

General Discussion / To the three toranites :)
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:31:45 pm »
I truly enjoyed that ! :)

My jaw dropped when you first walked up to me and ordered me to "Make way for the cleric of Toran". Teasing Lance might be a hobby of Galatheas but three toranites acting every way as rude and - lets be frank - idiotic as you expect them to was a true pleasure.  :D :D :D

For me it was hillarious - three Toranites taking turns to stand right in front of Galathea telling her she was rude and should make way all while Mukh was telling Galathea to kill them (which she never would: kill no, tease them relentless yes).

WELL PLAYED!

Its not often that you get such an opportunity to freely and rudely insult toranites.... :p
