General Discussion / Krandor Hospital guild
« on: May 20, 2010, 02:13:23 pm »
We got our forum now and fair deal to discuss and plan.

To get access to the forum select the "my account menu" chose "edit options" and then at the bottom "group membership".

Krandor Hospital should then be listed under the user groups.

If you need the final version of the charter sent to Leanthar before joining, pm me and I will send it. It is essentially identical to the sent to all interested parties with a slight modification of "the Oath" concerning toranites.

And to all others:
The guild is open to all; that is to say its open to all who can accept the charter and can be accepted by the charter.

General Discussion / Mouse/trackball alternative
« on: May 20, 2010, 03:42:57 am »
Does anyone have much experience with alternatives to mice and trackballs?

I spend a lot of my time looking at spreadsheets or drafting papers in my daily work and am looking for an alternative to a mouse or trackball.

Krandor Hospital seeks stewards

It is the mission of Krandor Hospital to:
  • Provide healing and safety for those in need
  • Conduct research into poisons, diseases, illnesses and conditions in order to provide cures and better treatments.
  •    Promote works of beauty and music as healing of the spirit
  •    Investigate and act against threats contrary to the ideals of Krandor Hospital

Krandor Hospital provides two wards for sick, two operating theatres, a guild section, library, kitchen, a dormitory for young healers and musicians (currently one resident, Rocky) and a hostel for travellers.

Krandor Hospital is fully funded by charity and its endowments. No charges shall be levied for its services. Galathea Arnaduillae wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to the many generous donations and offers of help which has made this possible.

If you believe in these ideals and wishes to actively support them then we are seeking stewards to oversee the running and provide expert help. Herbalists, healers, research wizards, alchemists, musicians, brewers, cooks, woodsmen and more are needed; but needed most of all are kind hearts and gentle hands.

The patron deity of Krandor Hospital is Beryl, but no acts of worship or declarations of faith are requested, only respect. Toranites are welcome to join and will not be asked to go against their faith, but they are reminded not to speak or act disrespectfully towards Beryl. Followers of Baraeon Ca'duz, Branderback, Corath, Grand, Pyrtechon, Shadon, Sulterio & Vierdri'ira need not apply.

Dark elves and gray dwarves are advised they must provide sufficient evidence to convince Galathea Arnaduillae they have repented their ways and are no longer rabid, homicidal killers hell-bent on the enslavement, slaying and torture of all civilised races. Failure to do so may result in unwarranted attention.

All interested parties should write to Galathea Arnaduillae (//send a pm).

Ask A Gamemaster / Greater restoration and Eschew III
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:46:27 am »
Does Eschew Materials III affect the XP component of "Greater Restoration"?

From what I can see from the list of material components and read about Eschew on LORE, it does not. In other words even though you have the feat Eschew Materials III you still pay the XP penalty of 2000xp.

Would a GM confirm whether Eschew III affects or do not affect Greater Restoration?

List of material components: LORE: Spell Components
Eschew III: LORE: Eschew Materials III

Spell description:
Greater Restoration
Caster Level(s): Cleric 7
Innate Level: 7

Descriptor(s):
Component(s): Verbal, Somatic
Range: Touch
Area of Effect / Target: Single

General Discussion / Running NWN on a netbook(Asus Eee 900 linux)?
« on: December 13, 2009, 05:39:08 pm »
Does anyone here have any experience running NWN on a netbook?

I am not intending to go fighting, but a bit of crafting and talking would be nice, and I was wondering if anyone had used a netbook (perhaps using linux like mine) to run NWN?

Ask A Gamemaster / Question on "=L bla bla bla" text parsing
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:17:27 am »
A couple of questions on the new text parsing:

1) if we use "=L bla bla bla" will a GM always be able to understand it (if in hearing range)? I.e. would a GM possesing a human NPC (without ear of gnomish) be able to understand a PC speaking in gnomish?

2) What is the hearing range? Does it use the talk channel, DM channel or something else?

General Discussion / Question for Pseud on Giraffes
« on: June 24, 2009, 05:40:39 pm »
In response to:

Definition of evil: YouTube - Eddie Izzard - Evil Giraffe

Are we to fear you will be enforcing "Giraffe language" on all your quests now?

So instead of going "Die goblin scum" we should go like this:

"Goblin, I've noticed that in our previous meetings, we get very critical of each others life. For instance, the other day you suggested reviewing my life insurance because I would soon be needing it, and I jumped on you for suggesting it, though it's actually a necessary step. I have noticed that we've ended up doing something like this in almost every meeting in the last few months. It also seems to be getting worse. Would you agree with this description of the situation?"

Well IC she is in Stone at the temple on business, but OOC her "master" (or is the other way around?) is spending the next four weeks under the tropical sun on a small island 7 degrees south of the Equator just of the Eastafrican coast.

Ask A Gamemaster / Brownie life expectancy and aging - Ed
« on: May 04, 2009, 03:19:07 am »
I have searched LORE and the forums, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to how long brownies live and how they age.

I have looked at (among others) these threads:

http://forums.layonara.com/races-layonara/95095-brownies.html

LORE: Brownie

LORE: Character Submission

Being distant relatives of haflings and pixies should they age like haflings as the submissions of many seem to indicate or ? Brownies seem - to me - a touch more magical than haflings and so I would expect them to live longer than haflings, perhaps aging along the lines of gnomes.

Anything official ?

I readily admit this is a luxery request, but I would love for it to be implemented.

At the moment we can name weapons, bags and furniture with the quill (more?), would it be possible to extend that functionality to include jewelry, armour, shields, helmets and accessories?

Its purely roleplay, but Galathea has named all her rings (being a priestess of Beryl) and I would love to be able to use the quill to rename them in game. The same would go for her armour etc..

That way, when she makes a ring or gifts one, she can inscribe its name and maker in it thus leaving her mark on the world.

to quote Monkey Island: Pretty please with sugar on the top....

Fixed Bugs / Cannot enchant adamtium ingots
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:22:49 am »
Description: The current difficulty level is set so high that it is impossible for players to craft enchanted adamantium ingots at the enchanting altar for use in the new infusion recipies. For Galathea (effective wisdom and int of 32 and 26) the level required was 94.

Location: Hall of Alnoth, enchanting altar.

Reproducable: Should be.

Fixed Bugs / Implosion suffers from excessive lag
« on: April 17, 2009, 03:53:57 pm »
Description: The spell targetting appears to function as it locks on four targets in a row, one target each round, but the actual effect of the spell seems to suffer from excessive lag.

Every single time I have used the spell it feels as if a lag spike is inserted after the spell targets and before the effect hits. Sometimes the spell has targeted four different victims before the first one has been hit and imploded. Often the victim is killed by something else between the targeting and the the effect kicking in.

A normal spell has the following feel: cast, "normal lag", effect. This feels more like: cast, "normal lag", target, "excessive extra lag", effect.

I am unsure if this makes much sense, but I will happy to demonstrate it. I strongly suspect that this extra lag is connected with how NWN handles the spell as it moves from target to target and that changing the spell to a simple area spell will solve the issue.

Effectively this means the spell is useless in any combat situation.

Location: Great forest on giants and on swampkin in the swamps near Vehl.

Verified:

Reproducable SHould be - certainly demonstrated it to a few people on stunned and held opponents.
