Trade and Market Hall / Re: Note left at 137 Leringard« on: August 31, 2008, 09:51:14 am »
*a small boy holding a half-crumped parchment runs up to the travel-stained Riven as he walks up to the Twin Dragon Inn*
"ere ye go sir," says the boy, "found it in that tree yonder. Must 'ave blown in the wind, sir." *Riven grins and accepts the note, offering a True to the boy* "Well, good Soluti, ye have my thanks for that!" *Upon inspecting the note, Riven summons his wolf to sniff the note and find the writer, bearing a note from Riven* 462

*A response is penned for Azaionna*
The owner of the Fiery Gloves has placed them in the care of Saddlebag Pawn to sell. He is awaiting an offer, so please make an offer for them by leaving a note on the board here at the merchant counter, or leaving a private message for me. Ye have my thanks, ~Riven 463

Inside the Scamp's Mug, Riven tugs on his sore ear lobe, twirling a simple bronze snake-swirling earring, and wincing at the pain of inflammation. Then his face breaks into a grin, laughing at himself, and he joins in with several Sea Dogs who are belting out a frothy rendition of "the Foam Spinner's Death Song." Afterwards he tacks up a crisp parchment on the wall.

Rumour Has It / Re: Found on a bloody hill...« on: July 14, 2008, 08:42:27 pm »
*Riven mulls the latest news, his face somber.*
"That Shiff had a strong presence. A powerful presence. Gone now, before his life dreams were manifested. I'll miss him, that be sure." *Riven pens a note to Valmara, and pays a messenger to deliver it to Haven. Then he walks from the Twin Dragon Inn and heads to a nearby isle in a lake to reflect. Half way through the night he strips off his clothes and swims in the cold waters. Pulling himself onto the far shore he howls into the night sky, his large wolf friend answering with a deep-throated howl. Soon a pack of wolves from a nearby valley join the howling, until the hills are echoing with the soulful calls* 471

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: whoops! are wemics not allowed in hempstead?« on: June 29, 2008, 04:44:16 pm »
Thanks Acacea,
seems you and I were typing at the same time, so I did not read your post before I made my response to Minerva. What you are saying makes sense. And Ashi, being beyond curious about many things, may indeed make it her passion to meet people and through her play and songs and tales dispel the ignorance or paranoia that people have about wemics. Perhaps the news will spread like wildfire throughout land - about the tale-spinning song-singing liontaur prancing in Stormcrest Crossroads, who occasionally sings within earshot of the gates of cities. And like the Pied Piper, perhaps she will lure people to their DOOM! to be Devoured by the prides of lions waiting in the forest! ....wait..no....different character concept... 475
Ask A Gamemaster / Re: whoops! are wemics not allowed in hempstead?« on: June 29, 2008, 04:18:24 pm »
Thank you, Minerva, for responding.
However, I have spent now an hour perusing and searching in Lore, the players handbook, and the forums, and no-where have I found anything saying wemics are "monstrous" or uninvited to hempstead. The link you provided does list a bunch of monsters as "monstrous" and "sinister", but wemic is not on that list. And, as I said previously, the sign at Hempstead specifically states what races are not allowed, and wemic is not on that list. I hear you, that it is "common sense" to you that wemics would not be welcome in hempstead, and that if a giant is not welcome, why should a wemic be. Though giants, and all of the races listed on the sign at hempstead are generally considered evil. Wemics are generally of good alignment. But perhaps the general populace, or guards do not know that? Have there not been enough wemics in Mistone to create knowledge and new legends of their good nature? Perhaps the unknown, and lion-like look makes commoners assume all wemics are predators, or dangerous? I have not played Ashi as a typical wemic, for the reasons in her Character Submission (and like humans, elves, and other races, there are always some who do not fall into the racial stereotypes). At any rate, my personal style of common sense has up until now decided that Ashi, the way I play her, is welcome in Hempstead. However, in respect to your authority and definitive decision on the matter I will happily stay out of most cities, until I hear otherwise from you or the other powers that be. Though I am quite sure Ashi will try to get as close to a city as she can, by rolling in the grass, singing, playing her musical instruments, and generally grinning playfully at all she meets. Thank you. Quote from: minerva A few minutes spent in LORE or the player handbook would quickly let you know how this server feels about certain races. A read thru THIS post would give you most if not all the starting points on where to look. 476
Trade and Market Hall / Re: Lion, Panther, Leopard, Cougar Skins for Sale or Trade« on: June 26, 2008, 12:46:59 am »
Ashi cocks her head, amused, and nods agreeably, grinning.
"Ashi learn to talk like two-legged slow-walkers from traders on ships. Talk good! And Ashi good hunter! Ashi hunt for Katrien. Katrien and Ashi make many many blankets! Any fur? Any skin? Or certain skins? How many skins for shining sun harp? Where bring warm fur skins?" 477
Trade and Market Hall / Re: Lion, Panther, Leopard, Cougar Skins for Sale or Trade« on: June 25, 2008, 09:26:38 pm »
The wemic's eyes widen, and a toothy delighted grin ripples across the feline's face. She rises, her haunches quivering in excitement as she leans forward to sniff the harp, her song quickening and rolling in minor scales, and moments of poignant silences, to bring out the harmony of the stranger. One of her paws raises gracefully, and a single claw gently rolls down the strings of the harp, eliciting a deep rumbling purr from the throat of the wemic. She nods to the lady, eyes glistening slightly, and motions the skins. Then, unable to contain her excitement she let's out an off-key roar, and prances about, leaping and cavorting, until she lands again near the feet of the lady, a slightly embarassed look upon her face.
"Ashi love shining sun harp. Take what you want here for harp. Ashi light the night from dusk to dawn with sweet sun harp!" Ashi opens her arms, motioning the skins. Then startles, and laughs, and opens her pack, to unwrap more boxes. Her nose twitches and she sneezes, and opens several boxes of beetle stink glands, bombadier beetle bellies, and fire beetle bellies. 478
Rumour Has It / Re: *A Notice is found in most Major Cities on Mistone*« on: June 23, 2008, 09:00:31 pm »
*Riven is inspecting merchant notices, when he reads Shiff's declaration. He grins, bemused.*
"So, the dour warrior is ready to lead a different sort of battle - bringing generosity and service to the suffering. Staving off the greed and callousness of many, to inspire hope." *Riven nods, pondering, lips pursed in contemplation as he reads the responses to the notice. Then another grin breaks across his face and he laughs.* "Maybe I've something to share with this charge. Though I'm busy in Leringard, and busy working on plans for a unique and open-armed merchant and trade guild, that may transform the mercantile system, but may be long in the making....so perhaps I can lend a hand to such a light-filled organization as this intends to be." 479

*Riven drops himself down tiredly into a chair near the merchant counter in the Twin Dragon Inn and remarks to one of the waitstaff*
"ye know, Chaka, Saddlebag Pawn and Twin Dragon rents goods, and always buys back whatever we sell, and I was thinking that would be attractive to novice adventurers, who may outgrow their gear over time, but it seems there be not much business of late." *the stiff-chinned halfling nods, clearing a table, and gives an earful to Riven* "Well, don't be whining bout your business Riv, ye've been out hunting for foods for the folks, and not behind your counter attractin customers. And I've no blame for that! And by the by, did ye bring back boar shanks this time or just that rangy venison?!" |
