Roleplaying / Re: Behind the role play
« on: January 21, 2008, 02:35:58 pm »
I like the idea of a PC market hall with many booths owned by PC's.

Maybe PC's can rent a booth and an NPC to man the booth.
PC puts his salable resources or items in the inventory of the shop, and decides the price (or the price is set).
Other PC's can learn about the shop and goods form the PC, but while he's out exploring or adventuring, not minding the store. The other PC's can then  come visit the shop, see the sign of who's shop it is, and potentially purchase things from the NPC manning the shop.

If Player interaction is the sole reason to not have a pc market hall, and continue having a rather unrealistic pawn shop that pays hardly anything for items, then consider that there will be plenty of PC interaction when the merchant meets new folks, or old folks, and he tells them of the wares they can find in his shop, back at town. Or he takes an order in person from someone, and tells them to check his shop in three days.

For what it's worth....bringin RL into NWN - having cut thistles with a scythe for many hours over the course of several days in my teens, and having sword dueled with SCA rattan swords and many odd boffer weapons, I concur that a scythe would be a very unwieldy challenging tool to use as a weapon in a field of battle!

*posts a message at the temple*
I am looking for a place to put a chest or two, to more easily serve the Angels Guild and others, who need wares found, picked, or dug. I do not need my own bedroom. Be happy to share my true with ye, for the privilege of chest space.

For a fellow Ranger as meself, 300 true be fine. As I said, don't know the market rate, first time to sell raven feathers and oak shafts.
Riven be my name, and I am a man with spikey hair, and wearing an old faded green wool cloak, unless it be sunny out, in which case ye'll recognize me by my spikey redish hair and goatee. I'll be hanging around Hempstead tomorrow morn, perhaps...and I can show ye where the Ravens hold their moot.

Wild Surge Inn / Re: Sable Horse Slain
« on: January 14, 2008, 11:08:11 am »
*The spikey-haired traveler knelt by the body of the dead slightly-chomped on horse and his eyes watered. In the animal language he whispered*
"Sorry, noble friend. I will do my best to bring ye back, if that is your wish."

Rising, he strode purposefully to the temple in Fort Vehl. Entering, he asked,
"is it possible to raise a horse back to life? I will pay whatever the cost, though it may take me some time to do so."

//did not notice a name. It was standing outside the stable, on the trail going by the town of vehl. just read G'rok's post about two horse, would be a lucky coincidence if his second horse was slain....but that's a slim chance, and is probably a tragedy for someone. I'd like to make it up if I can.

Characters Played: Riven Ring-Cleaver

What I like to see IG: surprising spontaneous playful realistic rp. I laughed so hard the other night, laughed and laughed at an rp situation - I love that! inclusion, invitation. interesting engaging characters, with depth, quirks, struggles, and heart. DM's interacting and enlivening the world.

What I dislike to see IG:  I"m fairly accepting and patient with what goes on IG. It's a game, and I'm there to enjoy, so not much gets under my skin. The only thing I dislike right now is not having much time to play.

Please pass this on to Magnus Del'Mar if ye see him:
Seems i've missed ye each time I come to Hempstead, but I've got two boxes of Aloe for ye, and a box o' Comfrey, if ye need it. Looking to sell these soon, so let me know when and where I might find ye, and I'll come looking.

Wild Surge Inn / Re: JET - A note is slipped under your door
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:08:44 pm »
*The spikey-haired wanderer adjusts the weighty pack on his back as he eyes the note tacked to the door. He shrugs, grins, and mutters to himself*

"Well, been having a hard time renting a room with a chest! Can't seem to find a friendly resident in Hemp or Hlint who minds a roomer. Bit hard to make a living without a place to store goods! Heh....guess I'll keep looking for an abandoned shed or rat-occupied hovel. Or...could move on I suppose, try a different town."

*He untacks the note and folds it and puts it in his pouch, and ambles off.*

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Riven's Invisible Arm
« on: December 07, 2007, 04:56:41 pm »
well i put on a little striptease at Fort Wayfare, much to the amusement of the hawkers, and when i took off my armor low and behold I had a sexy muscled arm, complete with rockin' tattoos. I then put the armor back on, several times, and I do in fact have a right arm now....but not the armor arm I had designed - it's back to my basic tattoo'd arm. Good enough for me.
thanks!

*The travel-stained wanderer slows his ox to take in the mage's statement. A wide grin splits his face as his eyes widen in astonishment.*

"Enchantments beyond my imagination?"

*his eyes unfocus as he gazes out across the cobblestones*

"as in...wings to fly with? or a necklace to grow gills to explore under the deep? Or to grow wolf legs to run with? Tiger claws to climb the tallest peak?"

*a hearty laugh bursts forth, and his fierce eyes turn back to the Mage*

"My stomach is rumbling as I walk down the lane,
Chanting my wares, the sand and fruit of the earth,
Hoping some lord can afford others to do their dirty work,
And all the while dreaming of lamb pies...
And now some Enchanter casts a spell of Wonder upon me,
Offering....more than I can dream of... for a small shrub?
Lamb pies be dashed! There are higher dreams sparking here!
Come then, Riven! Find a plot o’ soil and nurse those babes to fullness.
Until ye are ready for bright and noble deeds, as Warder, Ranger, Tracker,
Until then ye shall be a farmer! Call me the Aloe Pappa!"

okay, solved it. I can put the layanara tlk file in a tlk folder, but leave the regular nwn tlk file out of the folder. And all works well.
thanks!

okay, i solved it. the download instructions said to make a folder marked "tlk" for the layonara_v19.tlk (if there isn't already a folder makred "tlk"). However, doing so caused the results I posted about on this thread. Instead, when I just put the tlk download into the general nwn folder, everything works fine.
Enjoy!
