Roleplaying / Corso Escapes!
« on: March 29, 2021, 12:12:06 pm »
After more than a year of raiding the roads and coasts of the Liwich, Boyer, and Sedera Kingdoms, the brigand known as Corso met his demise at the hands of a motley and determined crew of bounty hunters in the employ of the Liwich Kingdom. Death wasn't enough to end him, however, if the stories are to be believed. The bounty hunters claim that Corso is stonebound, and he subsequently has escaped prison for the time being.

Liwich and Boyer authorities further claim to have confirmed the bounty hunters' story after examining Corso's former hideout. And despite Corso's escape, his small army of pirates, thieves, and mercenaries has been disbanded or slain, and his ships and supplies confiscated. Angela Liwich considers this a win, though she is purportedly still in the market for skilled trackers to find and capture Corso.

//// A little late in posting this, but my last week suddenly got whacky busy and I'm just now catching my breath. Feel free to RP in this thread, and yes, eventually there will be further quests involving the attempt to capture the stonebound criminal Corso. Thank you to everyone that attended, and I apologize for the sudden disappearance right at the end, and for all the various hiccups along the way. It was my first NWN quest to run in a rather long time, and I had to relearn some things along the way, heh. //////

//Note that I like you guys showing up on time! Might be a cultural thing, but it shows respect. Those who show up 15+ mins late are only rewarded half of the amount in FP and any other rewards!

Just a view from the other side of the coin:

I turned up 45 minutes late to Milton's quest last week rather than 15 minutes early as I had intended. I had put the time as given in the quest into www.timeanddate.com, and got a time that, as it turned out, was 60 minutes late. Given that www.timeanddate.com is not wrong in its calculations, and I used the time as posted, there is only one possible reason for this aberration.

Having sufferred this problem throughout my questing career, I have had plenty of time to cogitate on what might be causing quest times to be posted that are repeatedly out by an hour for me, and yet accurate for the majority of players.

It came to me, as I sat cross legged on the top of the mountain in deep contemplation, that this problem would occur if the quest poster was not aware when they are on summer time, aka daylight savings time. The quest poster posts a time for the non-daylight-savings time zone when they should use the daylight-savings time zone.

All the locals arrive at the correct time because they are on/are not on daylight savings at the same time as the quest poster. Whereas the players in a different hemisphere, taking the times posted in good faith, get knobbled.

Given that the quest time you posted happen to be the same quest times as Milton posted, I will endeavour to arrive an hour early to be on time (5am local time),

Last week, I arrived 45 minutes late to Milton's quest, rather than the 15 minutes early I had intended. This was despite putting the quest time as listed into www.timeanddate.com.

Coincidentally, your quest time is the same as Milton's; I will endeavour to arrive an hour early to be on time.

Rumour Has It / Emerald Skull Temple - Stort puts out an alert
« on: March 16, 2021, 08:38:11 pm »
*Pigmies are reportedly running wild through Stort.  The Stort authorities are overwhelmed at the border and have retreated indoors and have called for help.  Some of the locals who know partial-pigmy thought they heard something about the waters around The Skull "turning green".  The pigmies reportedly appear spooked and are running as fast as they can away screaming.  Stort has made an emergency call for aid.

Welcome back! Your old characters should still be around and can still play them. New characters still require a submission to the forums. But let me assure you, it is not as strict as it used to be and you don't have to write a whole novel any more ;)

Hi Lily, its been ages since I've been here.  I've since changed PC's, certainly my CD keys are new and I couldn't even remember my old login.  Is it still possible I can get access to those old chars?  If so what do i need to do?

Cheers, Polak.

Hey buddy, how have you been?  Thanks for the update.

Orth, now that's a name I haven't heard for a long while.  G'day Orth.

I'll jump in when I can.  Some of the content is old here so I'm slowly catching up with things.  Are we still doing character Bio's before creation?  I'll start dreaming up a new Char.  I'll also drag Hoodlum here as well.  He and I were talking about coming back here some time ago.

Hopefully see you around IG.

Cheers,

General Discussion / Current state of Layonara?
« on: March 08, 2021, 11:38:23 pm »
Hi all.

I thought I'd try NWN EE and noticed my old favourite place Layo has made the migration.  I was considering coming back and having a look around but wanted to check in first to see how things are.
Are the same old rules in place from long ago or have the rules eased up on RP?  I noticed some people running around over lvl 40 and thought that things must have eased up as it took me years to get to 20.

My old char was Ramanon Vensk for those that may remember.  Age, work and kids make it hard to invest much time for strict RP so I'm looking for a nice combination of action & RP in short bursts.

Look forward to your feedback.

Cheers,
Polak.

New Bounty Available!

/// Based on feedback, location will now determine the CR of the bounty. Mistone bounties are for lvls 1-10, Alindor for 11-20, Dregar for 21-30, Belinara for 31-40, and The Deep for 41+. Islands (Vanavar, Tilmar, Firesteep, etc.) are the special case in that bounties found on islands can be any CR, so there is a surprise factor for those. Cherry's description has been updated to include this information. ///

Quest: No Tinks, No Problem!

Rumours spread of a lonely pixie flying around at the Stormcrest Crossroads, crying out for help. Just what could have happened to her to make such a scene ... any why or when did the portal to Dalanthar start pulsating?
Are there any brave adventurers around offering help to a pixie in distress? Who knows, it might even turn into an interesting adventure...

Roleplaying / ATTENTION: Cherry Lake the Bounty Commissioner is in Center
« on: February 27, 2021, 01:55:59 pm »
"Do you think you are an experienced adventurer? Do you have what it takes to handle the baddest of the bad? Help bring escaped murderers and thieves to justice and make some good coin on the side. See Cherry Lake to pick up the latest bounty. Good luck!"

//// I'll be doing more of these in the future, but note they do not persist past server reset, and once completed, they do not reset. Watch IG or here or Discord to note when a new bounty is available. Also, you'll want to 'examine' the NPC Cherry Lake for more details. ////
