Ancients Legacy / Back Tracking
« on: December 10, 2014, 03:14:28 pm »
*With a two-day old trail there is some haste in this old dwarf's gate.  He passes the elder elf's clothing and personals to Blizzard and Katrina for the wolf and Quenton's panther to smell.  Zigruum offers a few barks and belts out a long howl as Blizzard dashes off through the gate wense the elf had come through. Quenton as well bends down caressing his feline friend and after a brief conversation, mostly purring and meowing, the large cat heads out the gate right behind Blizzard.  Zig then leans on his wood staff and knocks back a tankard of good dwarf ale smiling to Quenton.  He waves his mug to the others in the group, Acacea, Iri, Plenarius, Griff and Sehky looking for their imput.*"Der on de trail if der still be one.  Folks wanna ask around te de gaurds and others bout de old elf's comin' and goin's now be de toime.  We set out on de pointy eared ones backtrail as soon as ye tidy up ye investigations er' but nae be idle on eht.  We stay te much longer Griff gonna get his axe out."*He chuckles to Griff and then smiles to the others offering a respectful nod to Plen*

Fixed Bugs / Still no magic in Rift after update
« on: November 07, 2012, 11:30:09 am »
I recently went IG into the Rift (Vrebel, Griff and Dot) after the new update and noticed some areas are still without magic:

1) The area right after the diamonds were you have to swim. It includes a water elemental, gargoyles and one deposit of diamonds after you go through a large wooden double door,

2) The area past the adamantium and mind flayers were you fight two giants and then a water elemental and later on gargoyles, a swim AT is at the end.

The very begining of the Rift does have magic returned and we noticed a tweak in the creatures there as well.

I thought I'd bring it up just in case this was not what was intended mechanically.

Dezza thought I should post it as a bug after I pm'd him about this issue.

Roleplaying / Mentoring
« on: August 14, 2012, 01:24:32 am »
THE FLETCHERS

If you stay for anytime in the Bullseye Tavern you are being watched.  Rumours have it that green adventurers are being recruited by a loosely nit group of experienced individuals for purposes unknown.  Its a shady group and not much is known about their leadership or motives.

They watch and wait and when the time is right they appoach their target.  This group known as the Fletchers named after the Bulls Eye Tavern in which they recruit is elusive but not entirely hard to find.  They seek apprentices.  Some seek to mold young followers into their religious exploits, others to train them in the arts of war seeing their potential, others have more nefarious reasons to mentor the ones they chose, some mearly seek to make some trues or ask for favors in the form of a future a debt to be paid through blood or other means.

The Fletchers are heard to sometimes play a game of darts to see who gets the new blood and so the story goes the apprentices are called Darts.  The Fletcher and his Dart.  A bond.  A trust.  To some a contract.  Wait long enough in the Bulls Eye and if you have what it takes you too may be approached.  Choose wisely and you will be rewarded.

//The Fletchers is a mentoring group for new players to enter into an in game relationship with an established player to help you get familiar with Layonara's vast world.  By signing up to be a Fletcher the established player agrees to show the new player/character around the world of layonara, help him in game with quests, educate the new player regarding lore, help him to meet and rp with other characters in game.  Out of character (OOC) the established player agrees to answer tells, pms and other questions from the new player to help them adjust and learn how to get around Layonara.  New players are not required to join this mentoring program.  It is purely voluntary.  The mentoring relationship can begin at any level but will end upon the character reaching level 10 to allow the established player to take on a new recruit.  In game relationships ofcourse will endure for however long the players choose.

New players please see the below sign up sheet for established players willing to be Mentors.  New players please pm one mentor from the below sign up sheet of their choosing to initiate the mentoring process.  You can choose whomever you like if they have an opening.  The class, race, religion, alignment and gaming schedule should be considerations for whom you choose.  Once chosen the Fletcher and his dart should make their first in game meeting at the Bully Eye Inn in Center.

Ask A Gamemaster / Donation drop off for Lor
« on: December 13, 2010, 08:34:13 pm »
A donation cause was recently made for the Hlint relief were donations could be made to the donation NPC's.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add another cause for Lor?

Vrebel would like to donate weapons and armor and possibly wood products for balistas and such for the Lor Army seeing as they are in a state of high alert.

Thanks,

Willhoff

Rumour Has It / Zigruum's Fireside Chat
« on: October 13, 2010, 12:55:50 am »
Word has gone out to the friends of Nature regarding a meeting at Palden Lake.  The meeting is being held by Zigruum Frostbeard.  He is a druid and a speaker at the upcoming meeting in the Great Forest regarding an alliance with the Kingdom of Kuhl and the Woodland Realm.  Although it is mainly aimed at Druids, Rangers and Clerics of woodland gods word eventually trickles to others.  If you have information or would like to give imput regarding the upcoming meeting you should attend.

//Sorry for the short notice.  If you can not attend but would like to give your imput we can rp that we met up at a later time.  Just send me a pm with what you would have said.

Ask A Gamemaster / Warning: Milty Questers
« on: October 02, 2010, 04:24:23 pm »
Awesome quest Milty.  One little thing....I reloged into central after your quest and got surrounded and killed by mithril golems and quasielementals.  Zig died in like two seconds....had to roll for the soul mother and made it.

Those on the quest beware when you relog onto central.  Maybe you can despawn the area Milty.

Just a heads up for those on the quest.

Again cheers for Milt on an awesome finish to our accomplishment.

Cheers,

Willhoff

Ask A Gamemaster / Druids and geming
« on: September 07, 2010, 05:16:01 am »
I play a druid, Zigruum Frostbeard, and have some questions regarding mining gems and ore.

Brief Background:

A while back I had an OOC encounter with a GM while in game.  We had been in the Krashin kabold cave, I was playing Zig, and some of my party members had mined the alexandrite.  I used a heal spell on the rocks to role play healing the rocks while they were geming.  After coming out of the cave, a GM stopped us with their avatar.  They had various role play issues to discuss with our party, but I want to address this one about druids. They said as a druid I should have forbid the party from mining the gems and that the healing idea was not adequate.  Long story short, the GM suggested that if I mined or let a party member mine gems I could possibly have my druidic powers taken away.

I have played with other druids who have allowed and even taken part in the mining of gems.  I have also seen druids allow the harvesting of ore.  I have never seen a druid forbid a party from mining gems or even ore.

Questions for Discussion:

1)  Are druids forbidden to mine gems?

2)  Do druids have to affirmatively forbid any party members from mining gems?

3)  Are druids allowed to let party members mine for ore?

4)  What if a druid needs a silver enchantment for his scimittar to better hunt undead, the bane of most druids?  In that case would a druid be allowed to accompany a party mining silver?

5)  As in question #4 a druid may have needs for other gems and ore (topaz dust for casting stoneskin, emeralds for ability jewelry, titanium for weapon enhancements against outsiders etc.)  Is it expected of a druid to sacrafice and pay top dollar for these finished items, were others can reduce the cost by harvesting the raw materials?

I realize and enjoy the fact that their are vast and different ways for druids to rp how they would handle these situations.  But I dont want to fear Zig losing his powers over a misconception about the mining of gems and ore. Therefore, I think after some discussion here, it would be helpful for the Team to lay down some specific parameters for druidic conduct regarding my questions.

I look forward to hearing opinions and responses from both GM's and players,

~Willhoff

Fixed Bugs / magic vestment not expiring
« on: August 13, 2009, 01:24:02 pm »
Vrebel was givin magic vestment by Sala two RL days ago and it is still on his armor.  Vrebel has tried to sleep, use his dispelling rune, and of course logged off and on to try to remove the effect with no success.

I could probably ox wash it but I put this really cool light gem on it that Vrebel recieved as a gift for the cherry blossom festival.

It's extremely affecting my game play because nothing can hit me:)

Let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to remove the effects.

Thanks,

Willhoff
