Just the same basic advice I'd give anyone for any aspect of any character:
    Avoid stereotypes
Ask yourself why this aspect is essential for the character
Ask youurself if you're up to roleplaying the aspect
[/list]   Answer those to your own satisfaction, and you should be good to go.

That's really as concise as I could have put it myself.  Roleplay a *character* who happens to be female.  Don't roleplay a *female character*, because that'll be just the wrong mindset.

Try and avoid the "Rimmer Mistakes" (if you don't know to what I refer, watch Red Dwarf.  If you don't know what Red Dwarf is, shame on you!)

- Avoid talking about things you "think" are female
- Avoid distinctive mannerisms of speech.

Also - (though this should be true of ANY gender) - if you're trying a difficult rp, spell well, and use correct grammar (except in dialects).  This is crucial to everyone else understanding what your character is trying to be. *grins*

*sighs* the number of times I've been subjected to 'Rimmer' jokes is unbelivable :)

log onto WoW....look at any of the female characters there, assume they are played by 13 yr old boys, study them carefully, do the opposite of anything they do.  Unless of course your character concept is for some sort of...ah...."loose morals" type.

      Okay....I've done it....Got myself a female char.

      And....*chuckles*.....bloody fun.
Got to get my head round it a bit.....but if you know what your aiming for out of her, should be fine.

      Don't number 1

Tell anyone that in your free time you secretly run around in a fantasy world, spending hours infront of an armor crafting machine "dolling" up your female character.

Your friends will not understand, and one day one of them will slip and tell your parents. This could break mommy and daddy's heart!

      =)
