Grief of Love
« on: March 18, 2012, 09:27:58 am »
After hearing news of the death of her partner, Zarianna travels to the Breath of the Muse.  When she sees SehKy, she punches him square in the face.  Hard.  She then goes to see Gel'larian's body, sending all others away, sequestering herself with him for days until one of the Priestesses of Ilsare finally convince her to let them send him to his final rest.

//RIP Gel'larian Windsbreath.

A bard riding to Wayfare crosses paths with an Ilsarian woman returning to Port Hempstead from the Breath of the Muse.  Kindred souls in Ilsare, they pause to trade news, smiles and a friendly moment.  Upon hearing of the Heartsong Archer's final death, he is visibly shaken and thanks her but moves off the road immediately.  She asks if he knew him; he says only yes.  She nods in understanding, bids him love and inspiration, and continues on her way.

He ties off his stallion near clover and running water and paces in ovals, his feet turning toward Wayfare, then the Breath, then Wayfare; but in the end his vows decide his path and rather than change his direction he kneels and sings a prayer for his friend.

We sang for the sands, you and I, you and I
We fought over women and shared many a drink
Libations between us for luck’s die that's cast
Spurring each other as we raced to the brink

You’ve gone over, you’re gone, your song now for the heavens
But I wish how I wish it was here on this ground
Her Heartbeat is lesser without your heart in it
I will miss, miss to breaking, your trem’rous sound

Sing for Her friend and tell Her our tales
Make Her laugh in these times of famine and strain
May She keep you safe as you arch cross the skies
And someday, on Her stage, I will see you again

He stops and moves to the bushes on all fours, retching, his left shoulder and now his entire body on fire.  But there is more in his aching heart and he crawls back to finish, turning Gel'larian's lyrics into his own eulogy.

When our arms have buried you
Bleeding out our grief anew
Memories and songs to see us through
Our heads will still be held high
We'll sing for one of us who died
Standing firm against darkening sky
No more struggles, no tears in vain
You gave your life, leave the pain
For those of us with less to gain, and rest, rest, my friend...

The last few words eek out, his voice spent between the moth's interference and his own grief.  He stays there a while longer and cannot escape prayer even to spare himself - his friend is gone, and there is nothing that can stop his emotions now.  When he is able to rise he takes the precaution of tying himself to Allegro before continuing toward Wayfare and his wife's jail cell.

Quietly and respectfully after delivery of the letter was delivered of the dire news, Breanna makes her way to pay her own respects for a friend who had faith in her in a time in her life when very few did. Her heart heavy and sorrowful as she was there at the moment he fell.

*With heavy hearts, SehKy and Keela stay nearby while Zarianna is with Gel'larian's body and are there to participate in sending him off. SehKy offers a falcon fletched arrow carved with a miniature scene of the Great Forest colored green with gem dust.*

*A messenger delivers a sealed letter to Görmungard at his home, and upon receiving it he almost mutters something bad about Ilsare*
*He gives a small payment of silver coins to the messenger and retreats to his room, takes out a monocle and opens the letter. After reading it he sighs*

"Durn."

*He then writes a letter to the Zarianna mentioned in the message and sends it off towards him with a messenger falcon*

The news gives Steel pause. He removes his mask and sits.

"....irony is an unfair equalizer...."

After a moment more.

"I hope you took that ring with you to the afterlife, Gel'larian. I might not be able to find you without it."
