Harvest Day in Lockwood
« on: November 28, 2012, 11:52:41 am »
Come one and all to the cozy town of Lockwood as we celebrate Harvest Day with a feast before the long winter.  This year is a joint effort with the Prunillites and Goranites and at bequest of philanthropist Evander Burke, we will be holding an impromptu Day of Shared Inspiration a few months early.  What visionary and inspired creations will we see this year?  Come and see!

PS: Free Pie

*a crier's pamphlet is read*

In the aftermath of the Harvest Day of Lockwood, the bards tongues have been wagging aplenty of the occurances.  Firstly, a new pie eating champion is crowned in Melodious Widgeweaver bravely out-eating even the mighty-hungry halfer Bram in her quest of 6 pies of glory!  SIX PIES!  Everyone else either barfed or ran home crying.  Se did the apple, she did the cherry, pecan, pumpkin and the blackberry.  In the end it boiled down to rhubarb, the bane of poor Bram.  As he lamented his fate to be force fed the bitter coffee cake, Melodius explaimed "I Eat Rhubarb every day!" and downed the 6 slices in under a minute's time.  Six pies will become the next year's number to beat.  Most folks either quit or need to see the healer after but 5!

In other news, strange malfunctions in the golems have been noted during some upstart riots by the farming and miners guilds and companies.  With talk of prototype golems that outperform even dwarven miners in efficiency 20 to one, the dwarves and gnomes of these labor unions are irritated that golem labor will cut into their negotiated contracts, and that using mindless, soulless labor goes against the teachings of Dorand.  Property owners and mine investors counter that if these dwarves spent less time hunting giants, fighting, getting drunk and making lechers of themselves, the golems would only outperform them three to one, but the Iron Tankards' union contests "What use is a dwarf who doth not drink and stink?"  Violent riots have been reported.

In other news, thoughts and prayers rally around young Sprocket Cogswell.  Already his back is on the mend, but no feeling to his toes or movement of the legs has taken hold.  A vigil and dinner in his honor will be held on the fortnight that the lad has rested and regained his strength.

*Armand is particularly quiet on the days to come, he seems in deep concentration and studying deeply to all the prospects of golems, he seems somehow saddened for some reason, yet its obvious that its not the same as everyone else, the look of a frustrated man can be seen on his face, quiet and grim as no time before, the lonely gnuman shuns any contact with "sentients" spending his time studying and helping now and there with the mainteinance of the golems. Studying the miracle on the spark that happened, Cause he knows deep on his heart that only in Goran he may find the answer, and maybe even with his superior mind its one of those secrets he may never will discover. ... yet why not to try?*

*The only times he go away of the golems is to move away under the guise of his "dissapearing dust" to watch Melody in silence for some minutes then he a bit more determined returns to his work.. . a gnuman has a heavy burden., work has to be done *

*?  Melody, who has gained a few extra pounds, pies and a special tray, wobbles her way to Mariners to first the privvy, then her room for a good long hot bath.  Her new trophy sits up on the dresser within sight and sparkles in the candle light, and she smiles.  It was a good day.  She saw an old friend she hadn't seen in a while, enjoyed 6 different flavours of pies, out-grossed Stephen, put Bram in his place and saved a boy from certain death.  Her fine tuned ears and an amplify spell allowed her to just hear the boys cries within the burning building.  Shame he may be crippled.  The town should employ some guards to keep drunken crowds under control. She takes a stick with a towel wrapped around one end and reaches down and cleans between her toes that just rise up out of the soap bubbles in her bath, humming a tune.  Armand was really acting silly as well.  Sure, he may think he's a gnome and acts like one, but his emotions were not.  Perhaps he was the victim of one of his experiments? She pauses ... then shrugs continuing her bath and tune.  She wonders if she can get something smaller similar to Mith, the golem.  The Boss would really like something like that on dance nights she thinks as she nods 3 times to herself and switches feet. Hmmm .. need a pedicure.  The lights it gives off is wonderful.  She should speak to Armand.  Perhaps some kind of rotating tray with multi-fractured glass panels sticking up around it edges where a number of lights could be set stationary in its center, or something imbued with a bright light spell, perhaps multi-colored!  She drops the stick over the side of the tub.  Ohhh this feels sooo good.  Yes yes yes. Armand ... speak with him ... and she eases down into the water to completely submerge herself.?*

*Armand looks a bit more lively, sulken and odd in a way, its maybe the presence of more science inclined gnome, and the human dressed in black clothes working on its forging and hammering, which seems to excel on the fabrication of specific parts, if any lacking the technological understanding on the gnomsih engineering, alas he tries, at the same time he seems saddened again at the rejection and implications he was subjected at first by his fellow gnomes, an old story really,

- "You too tall to be one of us" -

- "Red hair?  who decent gnome has such small nose and red hair" -

- ·How can you dominate the science with a body so big? thoughts take long to reach to your arms and legs· -

- "You one of them , tall folks go away and stop breaking things" -

*Those and worse things said to him as he started to grow by some of their less than understanding fellows, and yet here he stands, learning and pulling all the obstacles away, Lot of work to do, lot of machines to repair, and above all... Some corruption to repair *

**He keeps himself on the smith and helping all over the reparations, amoung his notes of golemology, some may see the starts of a project, the schematics of a golem with a more defined human form, a female form *

//Going to have to push tonight's session back a week due to lack of sleep.  Exams just let out and one of our neighbors has been keeping the whole building up till 5am every night.
