Just noticed this so I'll reply to it.  I've only ever asked for the animals to tell me where the gnolls roughly are and i get responses from them that I completely expect.  For example; Stone tree refering to the tower.  I never expect any detail but every little bit helps.  As for conversations in animal, I keep trying to bring that up that animal speak is something simple, but to no avail... so *shrug* go with the flow.
 My kinda druid! :)

*After the latest wave of Gnolls Melanna takes a moment to address the group and try to re-organize their thoughts*

"Alright, so let's go over things again.  We have the support of Glurgle and the few Ogres who weren't too drunk to come along.  We know there's a vast number of Gnolls in Haven looking for something which may or may not be the black stone we have in our possession.  We know the black stone is part of some magical prison for something big, bad and shadowy that may or may not be much more than we can handle, and that it's posessing the Gnolls and using them to try and free itself.  What more do we know?"

*she takes a moment to take a breath then continues*

"Another thing that's had me thinking...  Those of you who were with me when Glurgle and his fellows were holed up in that hidden area on the first level of the mines, remember the way those chambers looked finished, as though masoned?  Do you think that area could be a long-forgotten ruin of something ancient that was here before Haven?  Maybe there might be clues there, or even whatever it is those Gnolls are looking for is in there.  Think we should consider fighting our way in to take another look?"

*she looks around to guage the reactions on the faces of those with her.*

Well....Had you been listening at all you would know that Galen and I have worked out how to break the possession. I am presently formulating a way to do this on a larger scale which at least means the gnolls won't be controlled....they will of course still be gnolls and probably feel trapped so might be a good idea to give them an avenue of escape once the control is broken.
Then it's just a matter of dealing with the strange gnoll that Pyyran encountered.....
Can't see why we'd need to fight our way in anywhere once the control is broken but nice to see once again that violence is the first resort....I'm sure that makes the battle savvy Aeridnite very happy....He can practice the tactics he knows so well....Oh, is it just me that wondered why he failed to question if we had tried the non-violent option?
Ironic really that it took Misty boredom to discover that the gnolls were being used against their will...We can have intelligent ogres who must be treated fairly but Gnolls being treated the same? Never!

*Pyyran holds up his hands in a gesture for peace, momentarily sending a warning glance Muireann's way.* Things have fallen out as they have; no changing what's happened. I'm all in favor of Muir setting these gnolls free... It would make our jobs easier. As to the finished areas of the Haven mines? I've not seen them in all my time down there, but I'll take your word for it. That might in fact be what the Deader's after, rather than the stone...

Then again, it might be the stone. I can't say for sure. However, after the possession is broken, all that's left is clearing out the gnolls: the task we should focus on for now.

If there is something important involving the Haven mines - something that is, with the reported activities of the gnolls around the tower, almost assuredly linked with that tower - we can pursue that avenue later, or in the event that the current plan fails. Without magic or direction, the gnolls would not only probably leave on their own, but be easier to clear out if they don't just go home.

"Just because I did not mention that you managed to break the posession on a -single- Gnoll, doesn't mean I was not aware of it.  And my idea of having to fight our way in was more really a contingency plan for if you aren't able to live up to your claim of being able to break the posession over all the other Gnolls simultaneously.  Few may recall indeed, that I did suggest attempting to negotiate with the Gnolls the first time or two we encountered them face to face, only they were too busy making targets of all of us for that to occur.  In fact, it would seem to my recollection that not even your first response was to offer them peace Muireann, so don't get on your high horse now.  My main point was to bring to mind those finished looking areas of the mines that many of us had visited in the case that your plan should fail and that other action was nescessary.  Perhaps if you didn't spend so much time listening for every little detail of what's said that you can twist to use as a weapon against it's speaker you might have found something more constructive to say yourself."

To show Mist's power and glory of course, why else?

*Pyyran physically steps between Muireann, Kyoro, and Melanna, a look of exasperation on his face.* Look, all that matters at the moment is results. All the time we sit here arguing back and forth is time those Gnolls spend getting closer to what they're after, and closer to getting into the castle. We need to stop them, and arguing over motives is pointless.

Let's get this show on the road. Muireann, Galen, please begin working on that whatever-it-is to cut the Gnolls loose. Kyoro, if you'd please call down a bird, a mouse, or somesuch, and see if they've noticed anything changing appreciably in Haven. Melanna, I'd be grateful if you'd see if there's anything more that can be done about our current defenses; I'll be joining you in just a moment.

//In case you haven't notices, Pyyran's attitude is thus: If nothing's getting done, take charge and get it done. If people listen, it tends to work. ;)

*mumbles under her breath as she walks off to check on Glurgle and the other Ogres* "Bah! If Mist wanted her power and glory shown she'd just strike down every Gnoll in Haven, or break their posession herself, and be done with it, she wouldn't need her little brat to show off for her.  Unless of course she's really not all that powerful and glorious.  Of course I could be wrong and maybe Mist measures power and glory simply by how much of a pain in the backside she and her brat can be without being effectual in any other way."

*glances at Pyyran*
Really? Do you not think Galen and I have already been doing that? Don't assume that because I am speaking we are not already working on this. Some people can actually do more than one thing at once without falling over you know.

Alright guys. Because of my own work related conflicts as well as the Holiday and several key people having difficulty I'm postponing the next episode till Saturday, January 6th.
If I don't see you all before then, have a great holiday!
