No sooner had news circulated that Diet member Halfling Forni Fillipe was missing than his pony was found wandering on the outskirts of Lor. A subsequent search of his estates to the north of Lor recovered the remains of Fillipe who would appeared to have fallen from his pony whilst out riding.
With an election pending Jular Jensen took this opportunity to stand down from the Diet of Lor also. She cited spending more time with her family as a reason. This means two seats on the council are available and electioneering started almost immediately.

It is suspected that strong bids will be mounted by their respective trading power bases to maintain a certain status quo. What other factions may strive to gain these so called 'Pro Rael' seats remains uncertain.

I'm your top prime cut of meat, I'm your choice
 I wanna be elected
I'm your Lorite lovely in a gold plated cart
 I wanna be elected

Candidates have presented themselves for election at Lor as follows

Footstomp Fillipe, son of the late position holder Forni - he stands for continuity and represents halfling trading houses in Lor and Rael and supports integration into Rael.

Feh, a well travelled and often absent adventurer and supporter of a local charity house, who has yet to say what he represents as he has been predicatably absent from Lor.

Frel Flinthope, who is local landed gentry, and stands representing the smaller trader, with a strong charitable and liberal background. Frel has placed his elegant and refined foot in the pro independent camp.

Jak Jermingar part of the Jular Arms trading group who would have that group move away from the Rael connection and make more of the increased domestic market brought on by the expanded Lor army and watch tower system.

Argali visits the dwarven communities in and about Lor. She mentions the elections for the Diet and listens closely to the responses the kin give. To those more amiable, she broaches the idea of dwarven representation on the council, given the proportion of kin to the general populace of [LORE]Lor[/LORE].

(Unless one of the leaders of the dwarven communities is really enthusiastic about pursuing this) she mentions that the boat may have already left the harbor on this (though she probably got a few frowns from using such a human expression), but that they should gird themselves for when the elections next come around (whenever that may be).

To this end, she proposes that each of the dwarven communities think about from who amongst themselves they would like to represent them on an (informal) council of all the dwarven communities of southern Dregar. This council would then submit a candidate for the next elections to the Diet (who may or may not be a representative on the dwarven council).

In response to Dwarven prompting Ogrefeller Orebasher, a well respected no nonsense ore trader of Lor stands essentially on the not insubstantial Dwarven ticket.

Dweeble Smallnose returns home and for the first time notices all the political manuvering. He quickly address the Smallnose Clan of gnomes to support anything Argali is doing. There is a lot of arguing about changing the way things have always been done and no clear signs of any support are shown yet.

*Throughout the period of the elections, Fehriel can be seen talking with the people in the streets of Lor and castle mask. He is dressed simply, giving the impression that he is as they are and not some rich men trying to look better to please the people. He talks to them about his plans and what he wishes to do for the town, his goals and aspirations. Always making sure that the people to who he talks to would understand he is from the people working for the people, and not out of gain.*

*Vrebel is seen hanging out near the Lor docks having an ale with the dock hands and sailors chating about various Lor issues.  He then visits the various merchants and businesses in Lor.  Finally he makes his rounds to all the watch towers to offer them encouragement and to gather any imput they may have.

After a day caught up in the electioneering for the Diet, Argali spends time carousing with the off-duty Beacon Tower recruits who are being rotated through Lor to bolster the depleted [POST=1567782]townsguard[/POST].

After a few ales, Argali and the recruits ambush the newly appointed Marshal of Lor and whisk her away for a night of revelry and celebration. Its possible at least one serving member of the Diet was also caught up in the festivities, along with several others who took part in the hustings earlier that day.

The new rotation system seems to work, crime rate is dropping and people can once again travel the streets without having to worry about their purse

Following elections two new Diet mebers who are part of the Pro Independence faction took up office. Those involved in recent manouverings to establish a more certain and clear independence majority breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Jak Jermingar part of the Jular Arms trading group who would have that group move away from the Rael connection and make more of the increased domestic market brought on by the expanded Lor army and watch tower system sneaked in past the more liberal Frel.

was well received by city and the so called adventuring fraternity.

Ogrefeller Orebasher, a well respected no nonsense ore trader of Lor won on the essentially not insubstantial Dwarven ticket

and during a recent pre election rally was also supported by the Gnome vote, and both Angela Swann and Argali Trueaxe.

In other city news Inquisitor Sonwat announced his retiral and has already moved away from the City.

The Twin Mayors made a brief declaration regards the new military set up.

Marshal Sasha Tomyris has been appointed commander of ther army and all Lor forces outside the City walls.

Diet member Angela Swann retains command of overall security within the town walls of Lor.

Marshal Sasha Tomyris and the untitled dwarven champion Argali Trueaxe were making themselves visible in the ranks of the Lor army organising equipment checks, snap reviews and stock taking. The army was considered fit for purpose and a parade was organised to celebrate the matter.

Meanwhile within the confines of Lor City itself security remained positive and the ever vigilant Diet Angela Swann continued with a relentless series of snap inspections and direct intervention to keep criminals soundly on the back foot.

In other news there was a slight increase in trade reported, and one of the former Diet applicants Feherial was offered a job in the civil service in the office of civic improvement.

Argali visits the various dwarven communities about southern Dregar. She relays the news of the election of Ogrefeller Orebasher to the Lor Diet to those haven't heard.

With the successful election of the dwarven candidate, she urges the communities to again think about from who amongst their ranks they would like to represent them at an informal council of the dwarven communities of southern Dregar. They would then be able to engage the Diet representative with their issues and ideas and efforts for improving the lot of kin and countrymen alike across the fair land they inhabit.

She raises her own idea amongst each community she visits, of regular cadet training sessions for those that would aspire to serve in the Beacon Tower garrisons. Not only would it prepare potential aspirants for the rigors of a martial life, but on a wider basis, it would be aimed at instilling a sense of discipline and honour into the youth of these communities.

There remains a relative period of calm at Lor as the new politicians and old adventurers settle in  - keeping everyone sharp.

Probably at the instigation of the recruits, the monthly archery [POST=1559002]competition[/POST] is expanded to include such traditional tests of strength as hefting the stone, carrying the stone, and putting the stone. In addition, their martial training is put to the test in the wrestling competition and the shield wall push.

Wrestling competitions were interrupted by a sudden deployment to deal with unrest to the north west where reports of vampire sightings have the rural population suspicious of all strangers. A patrol of local so called Undead slayers is being assembled.

Sasha orders some of the men in the city to round up suitably experienced clerics and take them to the location and provide close support for them as they deal with the potential menace.

The Inns of Lor are full of rejoicing soldiers tonight. Troops and mercenaries fresh returned from vampire hunting in the company of professionals celebrate the timely destruction of a dangerous colony of vampires operating near the city. Notable slayer Quantum Windward was among a group led by Diet Member Angela Swann. After a late lunch Marshal Sasha had also joined the hunters. All is well in the City though one scout Keppli recovers from battle injuries.

In a small, rundown hall in the dwarven quarter(1) of Lor, the inaugural meeting of the Beacon Tower Cadets, Lor Troop takes place. Argali welcomes everyone, though she is perhaps a little caught off guard by the spread of ages and the attendance of one or two non-dwarves. Nonetheless, she explains the aims of these sessions, to provide pre-recruitment training for those who might wish to pursue a career in the Beacon Tower garrisons.

Soon enough, she has them in a line, standing straight, eyes forward. However, trying to march them up and down the hall in a coordinated manner proves to be something... that will have to be learnt over several, perhaps many, sessions. She then puts them through a series of physical exercises, some simple, some challenging, demanding of strength, coordination or stamina. Finally, she finishes off the session with the cadets gathered around for the tale of the Galeright twins.

(1) not necessarily an actual fourth of Lor

Argali makes a point of visiting each of the outlying dwarven enclaves of southern Dregar. She inquires as to the general state of life and hearth and home, and lends a hand as best she can with any problem they might have.

If any ask for direction about what sort of person should would make a good representative for the dwarven council, shes smiles and probably flushes slightly. None-the-less, she lends an outsider's eye and makes her observations of the kin she has seen and meet during her various visits, pointing out characteristics that may have been unnoticed or taken for granted or simply overlooked by those living together on a day to day basis.

On those occasions she stays more than a day or so, she runs a session of cadets for the youth (and perhaps some not so young) of the community, to give them a taste and maybe whet their appetites for more.

On each night before leaving the next morning, she gives a rendition of the battle in the mountains of Brech of Kothac Lightbringer against the undead giants and how he came to be interred in the hall of Brenuth that becomes more rousing and poignant with each telling.
