Silkwood, Again?
« on: March 25, 2012, 06:05:13 am »
Local news within the Brelin Kingdom speaks of some unknown danger within the Silkwood forest. The forest is known to be home to many a dangerous creature but this time it's different. The level of danger is escalated further.

Local investigations lead to a halt the moment they encroach upon the spider cave. Sources claim that large silk cocoons can be seen hanging at the branches of trees near the cave. Travelers are warned explicitly of the dangers within Silkwood.

*Four people dared to travel through the Silkwood, even ventured to the depths of the cave. They were searching for dark elves, for dark magics, for hidden passage ways, looking at the walls, floors and ceilings for signs. Leading up to the cave, they searched and tried to sense what was around as well. Looking.. observing.. using all their senses for the possible dark threat.*

The forest at night, silent, quiet -schemes dance about, and two calm and watchful amber eyes study the changes. His hand moves to a sturdy leather pouch containing small clay phials...

//Rugor and Aden scouted the closer surroundings and the first two levels of the cave. Aden attempted to damage the breed of the spiders outside with alchemist fires and acids, and, upon returning, he sent a letter to Enzo with the news via his bowshop - and left a small note at home, with a warning, before looking for the Captain in Hlint to tell her about the spiders...

Upon closer inspection, the cocoons seem to contain humanoid figures, most likely victims for personal consumption. As parties trudge on, they encounter more spiders than the norm. They're also much more aggressive now.

Those in tune with the Al'Noth would notice traces of darkweaving evident in the cave. It comes and goes like the beating of a heart and can be felt most at the deepest layer. Like sulfur, it taints the air and makes it hard for people to breathe. No new tunnels or passages are found although it can be noted that someone passed by the lair. Those well-trained in the art of tracking would notice some boot tracks.
