Snowtooth devastates a Mistite Fleet
« on: November 15, 2011, 08:09:27 am »
Even as news of the dragon attack in Tilmar begins to filter through to many of the civilised lands so too do stories of Snowtooth, Lord of Bastil arising from his hidden ice caves.

Reports indicate that in the shelter of a furious blizzard that swept across Bastil the mighty Snowtooth has descended upon a fleet of Mistite ships drawing close to Bastil's shores.

In a furious battle between what is now known to have included Varsha the Tide of the North East and her allies in the Trade Winds, as well as a powerful Mistite Voice called Dougal, Snowtooth has brought ice, wind and snowy destruction amidst the dozen or so ships.

It is claimed Snowtooth was supported by a great white Drake as well as dozens of smaller drakes as well. Unprepared for the vicious and sudden assault the outcome was almost decided as Snowtooth and the drakes used the storm to give them momentum in their assault.

In his fury Snowtooth physically lifted Tide Varsha's personal ship out of the water completely then fly high out over the ocean and dropped the ship from a great height. its fate is as yet unknown, nor the fate of the Tide herself and her closest followers who were aboard.

Dougals ship also found itself a prime target and even though the Voice tried to flee almost immediately the mighty drake that flew with Snowtooth froze its sails then snapped its masts like kindling leaving it to float helplessly on the dangerous seas near Bastils southern shores.

When Snowtooth returned he too picked up Dougals broken ship then broke it in half and reached inside to seemingly pluck out a person from on board the ship. This women he placed onto his back before reaching in again and plucking a screaming Dougal out and flicking him through the air to the huge Ice Drake. The Ice drake caught Dougal in his jagged toothed beak and crunched him in two gulping down part of the body as another part dropped away and another passing drake snatched it out of the air and gobbled it down. Only then did Snowtooth carry the broken ship until he was over the coast and dropped it onto the rocks below.

This done he left the Drakes to cause as much damage as they could to the remaining ships and the desperately fighting Trade Winds aboard them.

Certainly the Mistites in Leringard seem very nervous about the news from the north.

No sooner has this news hit the centre of Center than a halfling is spotted on the streets collecting for charity.

Lister Muchgood explains "This thing, this is a terrible thing that has happened - and we, we all must do our share to help. Give wisely, give generously, give with reserved concern, give with unbridled passion, give with fond memories of safe sea passage, but give! Give to Lost Mistites the charity for the fallen and chewed crew Give here give now!"

"Well yes Sir tomorrow would probably do, for me, but for the orphans here!" He seems to catch sight of something in the distance. "Remember people keep giving..I will return once, soon soon." He indicates a collecting pot.

//Liar Muck is appearing live at Center as Lister Muchgood this week only.

Not content it seems with smashing the Mistite Tide of the North East's fleet, along with her Trade Wind allies Snowtooth has again been seen heading towards Krashin with a swarm of Ice drakes.

Over several days a dozen Mistite shrines and small temples in various places over Krashin are destroyed by Snowtooth and his followers including dozens of priest, priestesses and followers.

Eventually he turns his attention to Ravens Watch where he lands near the docks demanding to speak with the leaders of the small city. He then tells them that if they allow any more Mistite ships to sail to Bastil from their port he will raise Raven's Watch to the ground. To demonstrate his intention Snowtooth orders his drakes to tear down one of the buildings near the docks that housed supply goods for shipping repairs before lifting into the air and heading south towards Mistone.

Days later Snowtooth and his horde of drakes appeared in the skies north of Leringard. Fearing the worst the city went into high alert. But instead of attacking the city something else occured.

Several hours before his appearance three Mistite ships departed Leringard and headed out to sea. Before long they engaged a Krashin based vessel in a very one sided naval battle. It was to this battle Snowtooth was drawn.

Fearful onlookers in Leringard rushed to the extensive docks to try and determine what was going on as magical bursts lit up the air around the fighting sea vessels.

Then Snowtooth and his drakes entered the mix and before long laid waste to the three Mistite ships that had attacked the lone Krashin vessel.

Heavily damaged and listing significantly, Snowtooth literally dragged the vessel to the docks leaving its shattered remains in shallow water before palcing a women in heavy furs onto the docks then lifting into the sky and heading north once more.

Terrified onlookers and nervous city guards cordoned the area looking at the badly damaged ship as many injured crewmembers began to shuffle and move about its ruined decking. Suddenly amidst the wreckage several more figures emerged and gingerly made their way down a hastily erected gangplank to the dock. Some of them recognisable for their long running adventuring careers, others for their music and others still for their infamy.

People milled about for the next hour or so, including the city guards, unsure whether a crime had been committed or not. Eventually authorities decided it was better if there was no crime and then it became a salvage operation. Only then did things begin to move once more. By then of course many knew that the ship had been chartered by a Voice of Mist, Hardragh.

Farros cackles at the irony of it all.  "Agents of Mist devastated by frost dragon breath?  Isn't that like a gaggle of Pyrtechites dying in a forest fire?  Guess some folks never truly appreciate what they pray for."

Hearing of the commotion on the dock, Gel'larian rushes from 125 Leringard.  Upon seeing the disembarked passengers, he pushes through the crowd and speak to the first of the company he sees.

What in the Pits is going on?  Do you need help?

He looks over the damaged vessel and although he is extremely concerned at the situation, a part of him seems to enjoy the moment.

Hardragh presses his lips into a half-smirk, half-smile as he brushes past Gel.

"Do we look like we're in trouble, Gel? We got the ship safely docked, aye?"

At that he gathers the group and heads for the Leringard Arms. Soon enough messages are send out to contacts across several ports in Layonara.

Andrew dusts debris off his red coat, helps Rose out if she needs it, and looks for Liere, humming to himself.

Rose steps off the boat, staying near Andrew, quiet and off in her own world, looking a bit gaunt and worn from recent travel.

Steel appears as well, mask in one hand, he has a long stretch, soaking in the surroundings for a moment. He looks at Gel even as Hardragh is pressing his way into the city.

"I'll see you at the Arms, Gel. I hope you have news for me. I've been somewhat... out of touch... lately."

As Hardragh departs amid a flurry of questions from onlookers a hulking brute of a figure behind him snarls at the crowd forcing them to withdraw at his intimidation. Gork glares menacingly at anyone who comes too close.

Regardless of Gorks glare the women in heavy furs that Snowtooth dropped onto the docks rushes over to Hardragh, grasps his arm firmly and drops to one knee head bowed pressing her lips to his hand. Onlookers note the tears of joy running down her face.

He watches them walk off.

The newsmakers want news from me?  Seems backwards to me...

He runs to catch up with Steel.

Flynn observes the commotion from behind the large crowds. That night he scribes a note to Hardragh.

Rose follows along with the others towards the Arms, and about halfway between the docks and the Inn she perks up and takes notice of her surroundings.

"Yes, I should go get some clean clothes that fit me."

She veers off from the others, mumbling a spell of invisibility and disappearing as she does so.

*Sophia has the staff stoke the house fires and add extra down quilts to Rose's bed when she catches word of the news.  A new serviceable wool dress and stockings are laid out in her room and a table set with food and mead laid in the event of her return*

*Jetta follows Hardragh and the others to the Leringard Arms, keeping a somewhat low-profile and ignoring any questions from excited onlookers.  After entering the common room, she finds a cozy seat near the fireplace and starts brushing out her hair in long, smooth strokes while she awaits further developments.*

G'ork just makes his way towards the Leringard arms with the others, more agitated than usual due to the crowds, G'ork then looks to steel and gives a grunt*

Atleast this time the dragon not trying to sink us.
