Tragedy in a Small Town
« on: March 15, 2015, 11:30:38 pm »
The small little village of Brenton near Lake Splendor is  distraught at the senseless attack and murder of a little 10-year-old girl.  The terrified and anguished villagers suspect orcs to be responsible for the poor child's brutal attack.  It is said that she was still alive when she was found, but died soon after from her injuries.  The villagers plead with those in the surrounding areas to rid them of the orc threat so that they can be safe again.

Upon hearing the rumors, Jo Poetr is seen riding for Brenton.  He spends several weeks acclimating himself to the countryside by patrolling before venturing into the village proper.

After adventurers were overwhelmed by orcish forces, the citizens of Brenton decided it was time to take what little they had left and evacuate the town.  Unfortunately, reports state that the villagers did not all choose to leave, and soon after, the entire village was burned to the ground by alchemical fires set by the evil orcs.  Investigations after the flames cooled showed that the doors and windows had been barricaded, trapping victims inside as the homes burned.  The town of Brenton is no more.

A pair of rangerly eyes

A pair of rangerly eyes watches from the undergrowth as houses burn. They study the orcs for marks that might identify their tribe. Their owner is careful not to get too close, having been part of the group recently pulverized by the unrelenting brutes.

Once he is satisified he has learnt all he can, Naldin heads to the the nearest fortified settlement to Lake Splendor, Fort Wayfare, to raise the alarm with the fort commander, and see what forces can be mustered to repel this orc invasion.
