Epic time rule

(1/2) > >>

Frendh:
The requirement to have played with the character for 12months,
seems a bit long. Soon there will a bunch of lvl 20 characters
who only have been here about 6 months, give or take.

This isn't a problem for me yet, but I'm guessing some will
become very impatient.

Eight or maybe ten months doesn't feel like having the
character rushed through life.

If a character has been played very well, and left a mark on the world, the time requirement may be lowered slightly. This is at the discretion of Leanthar

Leanthar:
*shrugs* It is a long time for a reason.  And what Ice said above is very true.  We have this rule in place.  In Layonara, epic means you have done something epic or you deserve to be epic, it does not mean you have hack and slashed your way to some level about 20.

Gilrod:
Here's just my two cents...

Take some time to enjoy the world and be respected for your RP.

I would hate to see a world where a bunch of 28th level champions run around killing the few Dragons every other day because nothing else provides a challenge or enough experience points for hack 'n slash purposes.  If I wanted that, I would have played Warcraft III online.

As for me, I've already played a character for over a year and he is only level 9.  He is a ECL 2 subrace and focuses on crafting so hack n' slash experience point are rare.  I've seen many people eclipse me quickly in levels and be able to do things I have only dreamed of.  The one thing that keeps me from being envious is to know that there is a limitation when the person goes to Epic Levels.

Up to level 20, the team lets you race up the XP charts (fair to the hack n' slash lovers), but puts a condition on Epic (fair to RP/Continutity of World lovers).

Just my opinion, I like Leathander's rule because it provides balance.

He could go back to the V1 days or early V2 days and you would be struggling for months to get to level 9, Epics were almost unheard of at that point.

I think he has struck a fair balance between different gaiming styles and desires of players from the persistant online world.

Again, just my unsolicited and obtuse opinion.

Vyris:
I remember V1... I spent 3 months on a level 6 character, and I got an ENTIRE level of XP for good RP in a quest. To be honest there are days when I miss the V1 days, I definately miss the limited number of drow/tiefling/etc. slots.
