Haute in the City: A Silver Buckle Event
« on: January 02, 2013, 04:03:21 pm »
Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair. It is a language that creates itself in clothes to interpret reality.

Andrew Reid hosts a fashion show at the Silver Buckle.  Come model your finest couture.  Judging will be done on the outfit, not the body underneath it.  Audience invited to vote for their favorites in three categories.  One judge still wanted.

Create in cloth, leather or metal.  Mix media.  The possibilities are endless.

Awards in the amount 2000 True for best female (judged), best male (judged), audience favorite (female), audience favorite (male), and Best of Show.

Winning outfits may be purchased with barter credit (with agreement of designer) by the Angels Guild, to be sold as exclusive original designs in our Port Hempstead Fields shop.

No dark elves.  Orc and goblin bloods by recognition only*.  Giant kin okay.

//This is an ideal way for a newer character to make some quick coin and (possibly, no promises) get their rp xp switch turned on.  The new loom is fun.  Get a cheap outfit and play.  Create, invent, reinvent new combinations of what you already own.  Improvise.  Become more creative.  Not because you have to, but because you want to.  Evolution is the secret for the next step.

*Characters known and accepted by Andrew, Jetta, Elohanna, or by petition from a Silver Buckle renter.

Fashion does not have to prove that it is serious.
It is the proof that intelligent frivolity can be something creative and positive.

A hardwood stage is polished to a high shine.  Red carpet is rolled up one ramp, around past the instruments, and down the other side.  The candles are lit.  The catwalk is ready.  Are you?

Prizes, a chance to vote and make your opinion known, and libations on the house.

The Silver Buckle is closed to the general public after the evening meal to the poor and hungry.  A guard is posted and the interior cleaned.  A notice goes up:

Friends and contestants:  Due to the ongoing effects of the famine and the need to conserve food, we will not be serving from the kitchen during tonight's event.  We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to seeing you and your creations.

Sincerely,

The Silver Buckle Staff

The inn is electric with anticipation and slowly fills with contestants and audience alike.  The judges, Zari in a stunning white and pink strapless gown and Celador in a purple frock-coat and tie, sit awaiting their vict...er, models.  Throughout the hall the sounds of a piper...and it's showtime!

First up, Lana and Daniel model some post-modern Huangjinite fashion with frog closures and tight silk dresses.  The lady's wonderful cloak moves like drifts of ebony wind behind her slender form and her emerald jewelry is set off beautifully by the black flower-print kimono dress.  Daniel models a tight frog-closured black jacket and dark grey pants with a riding-pant thigh and tight calf.

Next is Keela and SehKy, a married pair devoted to Ilsare, the man in a tight red jacket and a forest green waistcoat, with black pants and white knee-boots.  The green in SehKy's waistcoat matches the beautiful white and green sleeve dress Keela wears, with a sweetheart front and plunging back and a scarf in the back to complement the loin-piece belt on SehKy's outfit.

Ryubi Jingles, a gnome, strides confidently on wearing a beige cloak, bright purple winged shoulders with emerald green sleeves, no shirt, purple snake leather pants, an purple sporran, and matching poufy purple and beige boots. Our dear judge Zari nearly chokes on her wine....

Following that with some glee is a dapper gnome in dark beige and tan with gold accents.  His coat is crushed velvet, in the aforementioned dark beige with a dusky rose undertone, sporting a gold tie, a gold cap with a jeweled feather accent, and gold boots - enough metallic sheen to set off the more sedate colors, with some divine embroidery on the jacket.  Quite the fashion plate, he also sports an accessory that drives all the ladies wild: an instrument, in this case a harp.

Jetta strides forward in a deeper purple ballgown, with a ruffled light purple bodice that carries along the shoulder straps.  The full ball skirt has a pink lace overlay, and her sleeves start off the shoulder sheer, then the fabric repeats on the forearm, blousing loosely.  The relative simplicity of the dress only calls attention to her creamy white skin and waist-length black hair, and the single accessory of a fan adds a leisurely grace to the ensemble.

The host modeled a red velvet jacket, and was promptly cut down for having double sleeves.

Next the Dangerous Divas, Elohanna and Keela, model...not very much - Keela in thigh high tights with heels and a short white dress with an open front and bell skirt with a red ruffle, Elly in a red and white heart-patterned short wrap skirt and heart-shaped bodice and nothing but leg down to a pair of strappy red sandals.  The reactions from the men in the room confirm that as "dangerous" attire, it is indeed!  Plus she's modeling it for me later, puuurrrr.

Once again Daniel and Lana come forward - this time in complimentary colors, Daniel simply owning a flowing sand-colored cloak, a dark gold quilted tabard, a bright white shirt, and sand-colored boots.  The dark gold accents on his outfit compliment the overall tone.  Lana sports bright red leather capri pants with mesh stockings and a gold-coin-spangled waist wrap, a red cloth laced halter, and beige sandals - very daring, especially the red choker that compliments her black hair.

Jetta returns in a mixed blues outfit, dark blue tight pants with a heavy leather hanging belt and bright blue high-heeled boots.  Her dark blue open vest is held to bare minimum modesty by gold chain, and the entire outfit is accented in gold with off-the-shoulder sleeves that again start sheer and end in blousy fabric.

Elohanna returns in a high-necked, long-sleeved lacy white blouse and light grey patterned skirt created by Galathea.  Three wide frog closure details in green across the top break the monotony, while the slender lines flow to the ground.

Tyra Dragonheart finishes the set with a deep purple floor-length gown with black lace overlay and black blouse sleeves, ruffled at the wrist.  The plunging neckline is accented with a thick black velvet ruffle, and finished with black gloves.

Each contestant was gracious and lovely, but with no further ado: The winners!

Audience favorite, Male:  SehKy!

Audience favorite, Female: Elohanna!

Judge's pick, Male: Corky!

Judge's pick, Female: Keela!

And! Best of Show: Lana Poetr!

Thank you to all who participated, audience, judges, and designers!  Special thanks to those who contributed to the Silver Buckle's famine efforts!
