Title: Grand Opening - the Saddlebag Pawn Barter Shop!
Post by: Riven on September 04, 2011, 03:53:56 pm
*Small posters are placed in Major Cities and on the bulletin boards in Crafts Halls*

Grand Opening!
The Saddlebag Pawn Barter Shop
[/B]

Tired of selling your crafted or unused or outgrown items for diddlysquat at a pawn shop?
Now you can trade in your items for full value!

I am hoping that this shop serves the adventurers and heroes of the realms. Please let me know how it can serve you more fully. We are beginning with 18 chests and only 115 magical items (and 33 scrolls). I invite independent crafters to trade their goods to the shop to fill the chests (for Trade Credit).

Here are the guidelines:

•   Trade your items in to the shop and take items of equal value.
•   Trade higher valued items than what you take for a credit at the shop.
•   Trade lesser valued items than what you take, and make up for it in coin.
•   For all items taken from the shop there is a 10% of value charge in True to cover shop expenses, such as rent, furniture, upkeep of the shop, and the eventual expansion of the shop.
•   Every trade requires a note left for Riven detailing the trade. (// post on this thread in the forum and PLEASE LIST ALL VALUES OF ITEMS TAKEN AND GIVEN (I may not have time to check for you)//).
•   The Shop accepts no more than two of any specific item (unless it’s stackable items like scrolls or potions), so before you drop your item in a chest Examine the chest first to see if there are already two items in it. If a chest is full (but does not have two of the item) then place the item in the Overflow Chest. If the Overflow Chest is full, then we cannot accept the item in trade (until the shop expands to larger space and more chests).

TRADE VALUE OF CRAFTED GOODS: the Barter Shop uses the prices of Cailomel’s Shop for crafted goods (see his posters for prices).

* Bronze Weaponry are half the trade value of Iron Weaponry.
* Enhanced Weapons are 75% of the trade value of the specific weapon and specific enhancement.

LOCATION: Twin Dragon Inn, 137 Leringard, owned by Tyrian Baldu’muur.
The Twin Dragon Inn is located on the Southwest side of the residential area of Leringard. It is a three-story building just East of a fountain, with no sign upon the building at present. Leringard can be sailed to from Hempstead, or hiked to (North of Krandor, East to Fort Llast, North to Blackford Castle, skirt castle on West side, North to Palden Lake, and take the West fork to Leringard).

FINDING THE SHOP INSIDE THE INN: From the main room of the lodge, take the furthest and most left door. This opens into a hall – turn right and follow it to the end to a large room that houses two different shops.

THERE ARE TWO SHOPS AT THE TWIN DRAGON: Tyrian Baldu’muur and his Apprentice Alton Tealeaf run Tyrian’s Trade Goods (chests marked in red). You are invited to purchase any of their goods for True Coins. Their prices are very reasonable and they are usually open to negotiations. At the far side of the room is the Saddlebag Pawn Barter Shop (chests marked in gold). Examine the bookcase and the room divider for further details and instruction.

FREE SPELL COMPONENTS: In the Barter Shop there is one chest for freely giving and freely taking spell components.

ALL ARE WELCOME ANYTIME: The doors to Twin Dragon Inn are always open. Come warm yourself by one of the fireplaces in this elaborately decorated Inn.

FREE PORTAL IN MAIN ROOM OF THE INN: Feel free to make use of the portal in the lodge.

ROOMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR RENT: Leave a note for Tyrian Baldu’muur or Alton Tealeaf regarding rooms for rent at the Twin Dragon Inn.

GIVE PRIVACY TO RESIDENTS: Please give other residents of the Inn Privacy - meaning, please do not open any door, other than the doors to gain access to the shops. Anyone caught snooping or thieving will be dealt with harshly by Tyrian's guards.

If you have ideas or suggestions, please send me a note at the Twin Dragon Inn. I welcome your ideas, and I look forward to meeting you!

A note in cramped script.

Took an iron sabre.

Left a designer ring, a suit of cougar leather armor, a bronze bascinet, and a hundred and twenty-five gold.

"Our first customer! Yes! Now we just need the Crafters and Seasoned Adventurers to start creating Trade Credit with their items and we'll fill the chests with goods of interest to many!"

I will be making a few items soon that I will be happy to plop in to your store.  Look for me soon!

As a Sledge of The Master Crafter. I am presently refining copper and tin ore into ingots, then making bronze ingots.

My current level of skill and lack of apprenticeship will not allow me to progress into making actuall items at this time.

Would your shop have interest in my copper, tin, and bronze ingots?
I can also cut and polish lesser quality mineral stones.

*Riven pens a letter to Raghnall*
Good to hear from you Raghnall! We don't have room at the store just yet for ingots and crafting resources. It's a tight space and i've filled it with all the chests I can, and there is no room for that. However, one day we'll expand and maybe we'll offer that service.
Come by and see me sometime and I'll show you around the shop!

A burly mail-covered dwarf with mud-stained boots walks into the Twin Dragon Inn and stops dead in his tracks. His jaw drops gazing at the two huge dragon statues. Then he peers about, eyes wide. His companion, a woman dressed in forest colors, continued walking, unabashed.

“Mighty luxurious place this...don’t seem right to trek in here with muddy boots fresh from the forests.”

A fountain near the door serves him well for a quick wipe of his boots. Whether his deed was seen or unseen by the serving folk of the Inn, he doesn’t look around to check.

The two pass a free portal, half surrounded by plants and decorations.

Bron says, “Well that’s handy! Leringard is a long tromp from Center, and I won’t ride in those sway-beasts that cross the sea unless I must!”

He adjusts the weight of his full rucksack and grunts a bit. Then eases himself down in a cushy chair next to the largest of the fireplaces, grinning like a kid. But the lass was antsy to see the shop and be out quick, so they headed to the left corner door and surveyed the forbidding sign.

“Well, the poster said through this door!” and Bron marched through.
The lass held back, wondering if the poster was mistaken, afterall the sign was not welcoming.

Down the hall and around to the right and there it was – a large room housing two shops, full of chests, a handful of armored guards, and a Halfling scribe who seemed to be cataloging a few items.

The two travelers studied the guidelines and rules of the shop, but Bron was muttering and shaking his head. Finally he approached the Halfling scribe.

“So, what’s the low-down on this place, eh? How does it work?”

The Halfling peered at him over his spectacles, his eyes lingering with a distasteful expression on the ragged iron chainmail that almost covered Bron’s frame, ending just above his wide belly.

“The sign says it all, Sir,” spoke the Halfling formally, and then he turned back to his ledger.

Bron’s brow furrowed and his tone deepened in irritation. “I read the sign, scribler, and if I’m askin ye for how it works, it means I don’t understand the sign. So explain it!” The last few words were raised well above the needed volume, causing two of the guards to close their visors and loosen the blades in their sheathes.

The Halfling looked stunned momentarily, then spoke up swiftly, “Sir, it’s really quite simple. Place your items in the chest, and take whatever you’d like of equal value. Then pay a 10% fee in coin of any item you took. Trade more than what you take and you end up with a credit for later use. Trade less than what you take and you owe True for the difference. Understand?”

The dwarf nodded, but his eyes were straying to some very fancy red-brown boots in the halfling’s hands. Flames were etched in gold along the edges of the supple leather.

“What be those?”

“Er, sir, these boots were just recently traded in, along with a very nice Cloak of Azatta, and a heavy mace. They are called Boots of Vivacity. They increase your armor, and grant fire resistance.”

Bron grunted, “that can be handy at the forge, fer sure...the fire protection that is.”

“And,” the Halfling spoke up, “they grant you a boost in your performance skills. Ahem...not that you would care of course.”

Bron glowered at the scribe, “how would you know I don’t care, hm? I’ve been known to chant some mightily intimidating battle chants when me blood rushes fierce-like!”

“I...can imagine,” the scribe replied, bravely trying not to be intimidated. “And the last thing the boots grant are a boost to one’s ability to Taunt.”

“HA! To Taunt? Nothing pleases me more than to see my enemy turn red in embarrassment! I’ll take them!”

The Halfling looked greatly surprised, and cautiously pleased. “Really?” he replied, “but....they are quite valuable – worth 5452 True in trade value. No offense, but, you look rather ragged to have much to trade.”

Bron’s look of excitement about the boots changed to quiet rage. His face turned red, his eyes widened and began to darken. His fist unconsciously clenched, and it took effort not to grab the annoying runt in front of him. “Listen you pen-pushin’ pencil-lickin’ pipsqueak...” Bron began in an intimidating tone.

“Guards?” the trembling Halfling managed to whisper.

Bron’s voice became more hoarse as he spoke, “Ye don’t be judging a dwarven berzerker by his ragged edges! I’ve got plenty to trade, and if ye insult me again I’ll be stuffin that pen in yer inkhole and tossin ye across the room! Even if the guards turn me black and blue, get it?”

“ye...yes.”

“I’ll take those boots, and I’ll have me a look around. I be needing an iron warhammer, seein as how I’m only makin bronze these days.”

Slightly emboldened by the presence of two guards who had moved up to flank Bron, the Halfling spoke up, albeit in a voice that wavered, “We...Sir....don’t have an iron warhammer....we do have a bronze one...”

“WHAT? And ye call yerselves a shop? What shop don’t have an iron warhammer! It’s the best weapon fer smackin some sense in sprite-sized self-important bookworms!”

“We...only have what crafters and adventurers put in the chests, Sir.”

“You mean ye have no control of inventory? What kind of a joke shop is this? I trudged all the way from Center to trade my good bronze weaponry, and a suit of platinum full plate armor I won at an auction, mind ye. And ye be offering me a bronze warhammer? I kin make one! Well...as soon as I learn a bit o carpentry I can!”

Bron fumed silently, and moved off to look through chests of goods.

The lass he had chanced upon in the woods and who accompanied him here was staring longlingly at a few items in the boots and belts chest...but then she sighed and closed the chest. “One day...soon.” She said, in a low voice. She turned to Bron and nodded, saying, “I need to head to a meeting. Thank you for showing me where the shop is.”

“Aye lass, anytime. A pleasure traveling with ye.”

Not long after that Bron carried an armful of goods to the scribe.
“I’m takin these goods, and here be the values as best as I kin see it.
Bronze warhammer, valued at 625 True.
Boots of Vivacity, valued at 5452 True
Boots of the Cougar, valued at 459 True
Robe of Acid, valued at 552 True
Cougar Pouch, valued at 917 True.
Total value taken 8005 True.”

I’m giving the shop these fine bronze weapons I made:
Bronze falchion, dagger, katar, and darts, total valued at 1,500 True. Bronze weaponry be valued at half iron, aye?
One suit of platinum full plate armor, valued at 5000 True.
And three scrolls of level 2, and two scrolls of level 1, valued at 1,616 True.
Total value given 8116 True.
That gives me a Trade Credit of 111 True, aye?

Bron glares at the Halfling until the Halfling nods assent. Then he empties his coin pouch into his thick hand counting, frowning with concentration.

“Now I owe ye 10% of what I take, aye? That’s what....812 True? And here be almost all the True I have – 462 coins. I owe ye 350 True more. Good?”

The Halfling piped up, “er...Sir....i’m not sure if we accept IOU’s.”

Bron edged closer to the Halfling, his lips twitching. “What do ye mean 'not sure’. Is it in the rules on that placard or not?”

“er...no sir...Riven, the Proprietor has not specified if IOU’s are acceptable. But...no offense, but not all customers can be expected to be honest ... Sir.””

Bron smacked his armor with a fist, the other hand opened and out came tumbling the 462 gold coins onto the low table next to the Halfling. “Well then, we have our anwer don’t we? It’s not in the rules to NOT do IOU’s, so here be an IOU from Bron Smith. IOU 350 True. If Riven has a problem with that he kin find me at Center craft hall, or in the smithy at that fort near the goblin caves. And Bron, however ragged he may be, is honorable and honest. Or do ye doubt me...?”

At Bron’s intimidating stare the Halfling just shook his head, “no” and started scribing the details of the transaction.

A halfling with a scraggly beard trots in dragging behind him a suit of panther leather and suit of white stag leather, he tosses them in the chest with other leathers and peruses the other goods.

"Um...can I just leave these for a bit of credit?  I'm in the market for some rings that will make my muscles bigger or make it so I don't get sick much.  If you get anything like that in, I'd be interested.  If you don't want the leathers just donate 'em or toss 'em, I can make more if I need them."

As he heads for the door he yells over his shoulder "Oh!  The name's Tramel...Tramel of Wayfare!"

*Tinpin, the halfling scribe pokes his head up from behind a chest*

"Aye, Sir Tramel. Your credit is now...urm...3,770 True! And if ye let me know how to contact you I may be able to send ye a note when a jeweler drops off strength enhancing rings and necklaces. And do consider crafting panther and white stag in studded leather or hide, Sir, I'm sure we'll have customers looking for them!"

Riven strolls in, reads the note from Enzo, nods in approval and pens a note to him, sending it to Folian's Vale.

Riven tallies up the items just delivered from Folian's Vale, and pens a note to Enzo, while talking to himself.

"A Cloak of Mystery, eh? That will make some rogue happy! and a Ring of Divinity of the First Order, an Oak Club, two scroll cases, and a Combust scroll. Add these to the arrows, and he has a store credit, as these are worth far more than the Teleportation Bolts."

Riven examines five more items, before placing them in the chests.

"A necklace, and two belts - Healers Hug! Wonderful! And a Ring of Might. That will make a martialist very happy! and a Parasol of Shock Resistance. These are rare items, it seems to me. Very generous of Lady Elohanna! I best send her a note of thanks and of her store credit."

//took sapphire set in silver, one ring and one amulet.  No price from Cailomel, so I used then lense price.  3316T combined.  I left 332T.  Let me know if I owe more.

Tinpin, the halfling scribe of the Barter Shop is, in fact, exceedingly surprised by the note and the donation of items! He pens a note to Riven to alert him to this mysterious support of the shop, and says "Thank you!" out loud a few times, just in case it was a deity that had stopped by.

Then he pens a note to Gel'larian, talking to himself, "tsk tsk....only two of each item allowed in the chests! More than that and there will end up being no room for other items!"

Leathan, a middle age man strolls through the shop and offers two rings enchanted with the wisdom of owls to Tinpin "I would like to donate these and in partial trade I would like the necklace enchanted with the cunning of a fox.  I believe that would leave me with a meager credit and a ten percent donation of two hundred and fourteen True, yes?"

He waits for a reply and hands over the ten percent fee with a slight nod "For your ledgers the credit will be in the name of Leathan Lampter.  I shall stop in on occasion and peruse your wares so there is no need of you having to send a message by post."

He tips his head with a slight smile and heads for the door.

*a note is left with Tinpin*

]Riven,

I was perusing the crates and found some scrolls that will further my learning of the Al'Noth.

I have taken:

Circle of Death
Stone to Flesh
Undeath to Death
Ethereal Visage
Greater Spell Breach

I have left:

A mahogany quarter staff enchanted with fire (1d6)
A swashbucklers sabre
A snakefang dagger

By my calculations the value of the scrolls was 32060

The value of the goods I left was 36876

The percentage that I would have owed per your business rules is 3206, Please simply keep the 5% that I usually get from your sales until my 5% ~ 1603 Trues are paid off.

If this is not acceptable please stop by my office or let Alton know and I can get the 1603 Trues out of petty cash for you.

My Thanks,

Riven walks into the shop, shakes the rain from his cloak, and touches base with his scribe. He's got a contented grin on his face from spending a couple weeks in the wilds.

"Well! Been busy here I see! So, we've got a 54,619 Trade Credit for the lady who brought the assortment of goods and scrolls. What was her name Tinpin?"

"The halfling shrugs, sorry sir, I was outside at the loo. The guards said she just set them down on the counter and said she'd check back later."

Riven smiles, "good enough! And my friend and landlady Tyrian has stopped by, wonderful!"

He reads her note, and nods.

"I'm glad she's finding items of interest to her! This looks just fine...though she did miswrite the % I pay her - 50% of each transaction, not 5%. So the 1603 True she owes for the goods I will pay off with the money I would normally be paying her from future transactions, until it is paid off. Good enough! Well Tinpin, what do you think? Do you have time to inventory everything and write all the items out on a flyer so potential customers know what's in the shop before they come by?"

"erm...," Tinpin shuffled side to side, "that would be a lot of work Sir, especially if you want the flyers up all over the place. I've got enough on my plate keeping the place clean, and tracking the transactions."

Riven laughed and nodded, "alright, my friend. Fair enough. If I want posters I'll write them. For now, I think a good night's sleep in a bed would be good for me."

Riven adds a few items to the chest, as Tinpin notes them in the ledger.

"From Dot, who I met in Center, and who dropped off that large assortment of goods we were looking at earlier -
Whip of Lashing,
Gloves of Badger,
Gloves of Bat,
and a very nice iron warhammer.
Adding with her other goods, she has a trade credit of 79,347. Please leave a note for her here at the shop, Tinpin."

"er...sir?" spoke up Tinpin. "I noticed she put an Ascenders March Boots in the chest, but we already have two pairs. We'll need to give those back to her until someone else takes a pair. So I believe that makes her credit.....um....56,787."

Gel'larian approaches Tinpin.

Put in a walking stick of the hierophant, a scroll of bless weapon, endure elements, summon creature of the first circle and a stardust of goran.  I believe that should cover the value of the jewelry I took.

Riven walks in, "Greetings Dot! good to see you!"

"Excellent items you bring! However we do not use the lens price for crafted goods, only found treasures. We use Cailomel's price list for crafted goods. So let's see these items...
Iron longsword has a trade credit of 1250.
Iron full plate armor 2500
iron bastard sword with Cold of the 2nd tier would be 1750 True plus 3140 True, or 4890.
So these three items are worth 8,640 in Trade Credit. Adding that to your previous items brings your total trade credit to 65,427. Good?"

// on the advice of another merchant house, for all future transactions involving enhanced weaponry - all enhanced weapons will be valued at 75% of the value of the specific weapon and 75% of the value of the specific enhancement. I've updated the main poster (first entry in this thread of the forum).//

Grendola Pigstrotter wanders around the shop looking for the shop assistant as she cant read any of the notice saying what things cost or what the trade value are.

leaving greasy bacon fat smudges on most of the chests she drops off a set of studded jaguar leather armour, a pair of gloves of austerity ( +12 disc), an iron dwarven waraxe with no enhancements her old iron greataxe with a plus 6 cold enhancement known as "Buttock Cleaver".

She tells the other people shopping what she has left and wonders if the owner can leave a message at teh bar saying what they might be worth before she leaves.

She pops back in and asks where the chests of polka dot bloomers are kept and do they have any with lace?

//read the price list but frankly got confused re armours and enhanced weapons.  I'll wait for an updat eand come back to shop.

Riven walks in and surveys the bustling scene at the Saddlebag Pawn Barter Shop.

Tinpin and several serving folk are busy cleaning the bacon grease off the chests. Tinpin looks up, notices Riven, and with an exasperated sigh goes and gathers some items to show to Riven.

"Sir, some uncouth creature has fouled our pristine shop with greasy fingerprints on every chest! And they left four items soaked in disgusting grease. It will take all morning to clean these - look at these gloves! and the armor! Atrocious condition! We really shouldn't give full trade credit for these things! And the axe over yonder is named...well...something scandalous! No-one will want to wield it! No one!"

"Scandalous?" replied Riven, bemused, and attempting to stifle his laughter.

The halfling leaned closer and whispered, "Buttocks-Cleaver! Can you imagine? What kind of customer would wield a great axe called....?" Tinpin shivered in disgust.

"Well Tinpin," answered Riven, "I understand your sentiments, and I do understand it will take a lot of work to bring the shop back to the immaculate condition you keep it in, however, it is my intention for this shop to serve all manners of folk. And as we have discussed, customer service is of great importance. Here, don't look so dismayed, I'll help with the cleaning, and we'll have it done soon enough!"

"Right sir, right enough!"
Tinpin stood straighter and his face firmed into an expression of the stoic professional. "I'll write a note to this....customer. Though I do think marking off another 10% on the great axe is fair, Sir, as it will limit the potetial of a customer taking it. And perhaps we take off a mere 14 True for the added cleaning, rounding down their Trade Credit to 13,000"

"Fair enough, Tinpin. Thanks for bending." Replied the amused Proprietor.

Tinpin scribed a note, and placed it on the wide counter of the shop.

"Dear Sir or Madam,
We thank you for your fine goods. We do however ask that in the future you clean your hands and clean your goods before entering our establishment. Cleanliness is of paramount importance to me.

Here is your trade credit:

Gloves of Austerity 2820
Studded Jaguar Armor 1382
Iron Dwarven Waraxe 2500
Iron Greataxe (1750) with third tier Cold Enhancement (7960) 9710, however we do lower the price of all enhanced weapons by 25%, and we are choosing to lower this axe by another 10% due to the name etched on the iron, as most customers would be ashamed to wield a weapon named such. Thus the Greataxe trade credit comes to 7,283.

We are also deducting 14 True off the total for the added cleaning we are needing to do to your items. In the future it will be a 10% lower credit for any item of such uncleanliness.

Total Trade Credit: 13,000
We thank you for your business.

*Sszeylbryn slips quietly into the store when traffic is low. He studies the chest of leather armor and takes a suit of Panther leather, leaving behind his brown bear leather suit. He then drops 893 True Coin into the proper chest*

Brown Bear Leather @ Cailomels 1376
Leaving 687 owed + 10% of the Panther price 206 = 893 left in the chest.

Tinpin bustles over to the counter, ledger in hand. He bows respectfully to Dot, and shifts back and forth on his feet nervously as he inspects Dot's new delivery of goods.

"Greetings, Madam! Indeed it is a very nice buckler. The Bronze buckler is worth 500, as bronze is half of the value of iron. Perhaps when you become a famous smith you can etch your insignia onto everything you make, and then we can mark up the price due to your fame. Shortswords are popular, and this iron one is worth 1250 in trade credit. The scrolls are 992. The Walking Stick, well,..... I regret to inform you that we already have two of these in the Wood and Ranged chest, so we cannot accept a third. However as soon as someone chooses a Walking Stick of the Heirophant then we'd be glad to accept this one from you. This delivery gives you a trade value of 2,742, add this to your previous credit of 37,647 gives you a total trade credit of 40,389. Thank you for your business, Madam. And do come again soon!"

Tinpin inspects the silver topaz ring from Myrddyn, with a perplexed expression on his face.

"erm...I'm embarassed to say i don't know the value of this ring. I'll need to get back to you on that. But the rest of the items total a credit of 5505, minus the Arachnea Boots gives you a total credit of 3211 plus the ring. I'll look into that, and talk to Riven about the ring. But for now let's value that at 1500, which gives you a total credit of 4711."

Then Tinpin pens a note to Tyrian.
"Dear Lady Tyrian,
Just in case I didn't thank you enough for the apple pie, it was truly one of the best pies I've had, other than my mother's apple allspice pie.

A few notes on your latest items you gave me to inspect: For Iron weaponry and enhancements we use the Cailomel prices. And, as you know, any enhanced weapon is valued at 75% of the total. So there are a few differences in values for the iron weaponry that you used the lens price for:
Iron Short sword with Moderate electrical and silver enhancements: 1000 + 3140 = 4440 = 8580 x .75 = 6435.
Iron rapier with moderate fire and silver: 1250 + 3140+ 4440 =8830 *.75 = 6,623.
Iron Bastard Sword with Greater electrical and silver: 1750 + 12080 + 16200 = 30030 * .75 = 22,523
Mahogany Quarterstaff with Intermediary Fire: 5000 + 7960 = x12960 * .75 = 9720

Bringing your credit for this shipment to 95,161, plus your previous credit of 4816, giving you a total trade credit of 99,977.

Sincerely,
Tinpin Fairtrader

"Yes indeed, sir," Tinpin responded, putting on a brave face.

"It's about time! Well I'm bringing ye a fine suit of armor. I'll be needing it some day, but can't afford to keep it now. And these here boots I got from your shop SQEAK! they be driving me fits o' berserkedness when i'm hiking!"

Cougar Boots 459

iron warhammer 1250
Iron heater shield 1500
Stones boots 4940
Amulet of Strength lessor 2140

Rockhead Howling Wolf wanders the shop whilst having a philosophical discussion with the little shopkeeper about the medicinal merits of pouring sour whisky into your boots to cure the bunions.

he takes out and leaves a set of eagles jewellry  (8664), a designer ring ( 460) and a pair of gargolye boots ( 24416)...

rummaging about he takes out a unicorn cloak ( 15132) a Mr Smashy hammer (3804) and a fire enhancement ( 6396) and 200 arrows (6400) and throws a bag of 3073ish coins in the tips chest.

Well yer have a nice emporium here laddie.I 'll call in again.................. does yer perhaps sell fungal toes cream?  no?...............damnation i'll try gin then!

Tinpin has a polite expression on his face, hiding his discomfort of speaking of bunions and sour whiskey with Rockhead.

"Sir, I assure you that apple cider vinegar will cure any of those sorts of ailments! Pour it into your shoes, rub it onto your feet, and drink it with water. It will take care of it all! Learned that from my mother, and its served my family well."

"Now, Rockhead, as to your trade, the lens pricing is used for non-crafted items. We generally use Cailomel's pricing for crafted goods, with some exceptions listed on our general flyer, such as for arrows, compound bows, wood shields, and special weaponry. Here are the correct values of your items:
two rings of eagle's splendor 1740 x 2 =3480
necklace of eagle spelndor 2140
a designer ring 460
and a pair of gargolye boots 24416
and I believe you placed two Dorand's Rings. They are valued at 720 each = 1440
giving you a trade credit of 31936

Mr. Smashy warhammer: iron warhammer 1250 + moderate silver enhancement 4440 = 5690. 75% of 5690 = 4,268. All weapons that are already enhanced are priced at 75% off.
Moderate fire enchantment: 4440
200 copper tipped stirge-feathered oak arrows = 300 value
unicorn cloak 15132
Total taken =  24,170
Giving you a Trade Credit of 7766.
Now, you paid 3073 True, but you only owed 2417 true, so feel free to take 656 True from the chest.
Thank you very much, Sir!"

After Rockhead leaves Tinpin works the ledgers fastidiously, checking prices and trade credits.

"I really need to make the signs in here more clear that customers should leave notes with the values of their goods as best as they know it."

Myrddan Trade Credit 318

Gilshem Ironstone

-4000 for adamantium helm

Enzo
1 - Mahogany Quarterstaff 5000
1 - Mahogany Club 2500
1 - Gloves of Animal Handling 128
1 - Death Armor scroll 2nd lv 368
Total = 7996

1 - Darkness Scroll 368
1 - Iron Dagger 500
1 - Lesser Monks Armor 1147

Tinpin swiftly and neatly pens a note to Aynndel at the Fort Vehl Inn.
Sir, I thank you for conducting a trade at the Saddlebag Barter Shop. I regret to inform you that the shop can only hold two of any one item. Your donations of an iron mace, iron falchion, and tune of the harper put us over the two item limit. Please pick them up at your earliest convenience.)
Items taken:

wisdom ring (owls 2). 5340

Total = 7110
(paid 711)

Items placed:

+ book about destruction 10320 (I believe you placed the book with a few charges gone, yes? If not, and you placed the fully charged copy then the value is 13568 )

A pair of shiny new bracers lined with red scales is put in the "Gloves & Bracers" chest. A note is then tacked on top of the "Books, Wands, and Misc." chest.

I have taken three items that have struck my interest, they have been compensated for accordingly. A computation is detailed below:

Dragon Scale Bracers (T 78,232)

Broken Scales (T 40,696)

Tinpin speaks to Khaldir apologetically, "I'm terribly sorry Sir, but we cannot accept the Dragon Scale Bracers at that value. Riven has been speaking with other members of merchant guilds and he has come to realize that certain items are not any where near their Lens price value. If you'll peruse the bottom of our general flyer you'll see a few exceptions listed there, including Dragon Scale Bracers, which are valued at 15,000 True. There are other exceptions that aren't yet listed, and we intend to have a full price list by the time we move to a larger facility, closer to Center. Let me know if I can be of service."

in the early hours before dawn the orc Rhakt moves slowly from building towards the docks of leringard. catching a familiar smell of a person he knows he finds himslef at the doors of the trading company. Under spell of complete darkness and invisibility he prises open the door and wanders through the building. Taking out the cruelly curved sacrice blade he wanders past the cot of the small shopkeeper.

He stops and sniffs looking from side to side to catch the faint smell of the Al'Noth which he seeks. At the shopkeepers cot he spits on his finger and touches the sleepers face with taloned claw leaving a trail both of spittle goblin juices from his last meal and then licks his finger sensing for power. Sensing little power he moves on drawn by the aroma of magic in the chests beyond.

He opens a chest to find and hefts a large two handed blade in his great hand and moves on to the chest that smells of magic. lifting the lid he finds many small rings but none fit his fingers past the dark blue grubby talons encased in blood  and grime.

He turns to leave and notices the skinny arm of the shopkeeper lying outside his tartan covers.  " not even a tasty morsel to be had" he mumbles and trie sto out the blade in his pack. It wont fit and so he dumps the various pieces of bodies from the pack into the nearest chest and leaves as silently as he entered.

//left ladys Gift (7684), iron spear (2000?) and Plat reinforced clothing (7508)  taking last defense.

When the shopkeeper finds the body Rhakt has left he'll notice the purse attached contains perhaps 10 percent of the blade value. I'd suggest the little one wash that day to avoid the rash which will follow the day after if he doesnt.

Tinpin awakens from a nightmare of zombies in the shop. He lights a lantern, and discovers the night watchman asleep. Waking him, he tentatively explores the shop, and is shocked and dismayed at discovering a corpse in a chest.

"Who could have left such a disgusting thing here?"

The watchman replied with a shrug, "could be someone who values corpses, and things we barter with corpses. Or tis a threat from a competitor...that we may end up like that." He grinned, enjoying Tinpin's discomfort.

"How can we dispose of it, without getting arrested by Leringard guards?"

"Eh," replied the watchman with a nonchalent expression, "Mayhap my drinking buddy in the lodge room could do it. He's a burly dwarf, but had a few too many last night, so he passed out next to the fire. I kin wrap the body in a sheet, and stuff it into his huge rucksack. And with a few bottles of ale, I bet he'll lug it out of town no problem."

Tinpin shakes his head in dismay, but agrees to the plan. He then dutifully checks the rest of the chests, and notes in the shop ledger the missing and new items.

Bron strode in, a pair of boots in his hands and a exasperated expression on his face that became even more exasperated when he discovered there already were 2 of those same boots in the chest. However, upon discovering a hickory pipe his expression changed to excitement.

"Well! heard about these, not seen em. What's the price Laddo?"

Tinpin replied with strained politeness, "I believe it has a 100 True trade value, Sir."

"Done. I've got trade credit with ye, and I'll lay 10 True in the pot. Ye should traffic in all kinds o pipes and pipeweed!"

Tinpin nodded, "True enough sir. I do hope a pipemaker starts giving us more pipes. And as to pipeweed, we will be moving soon, and expanding to include craftable resources, such as pipeweed, sand, wood, and much more."

Bron peered at the little halfling. "where ye moving to lado? Hope its not MORE out of the way than this place!"

The shopkeeper shifted uncomfortably, "er...Riven hasn't told me yet sir. I believe he wants to move somewhere closer to Hempstead, Center, or Fort Wayfare, but we haven't yet found the site. I'm sure he'll be posting flyers about it as soon as we do."

"Well, that be a good enough place, one o those. I'm off now, got some mining to do."

Tinpin coughed uncomfortably and then braced himself and spoke up as Bron was walking away. "Sir! er...if you please....I respectfully request you clean the mud and blood off your boots before you enter our establishment."

Bron scowled and kept walking, "eh? can't hear ye lado. Put a little more effort into yer pipsqueak lungs!"

Brief note in cramped script.

Took: three - potions of lore (1440), platinum reinforced (crafted, 2752 per Cailomels)

Left: light iron flail (crafted, 750 per Cailomels), iron shortsword (crafted, 1000 per Cailomels), scroll of greater spell breach (2376), bracers of the scouts ( 3768 ).

Credit (estimated) from previous purchase (http://forums.layonara.com/1730679-post74.html): 7772 + 256 + 368 +368 = 8764 - 5000 = 3764

3764 +750+1000 + 2376 + 3768 = 11658 - 4192 = 7466 (estimated) credit

Left 420 True.

//I edited Tralek's post as follows:

EDIT to reflect prices of craftable items: I changed the price of the Queen Bebilith Armor to Cailomel's price on Ancient Dire Bear Armor (no price for the QB Armor). I left the price of the scrolls as is even though most are craftable.

Let me know if this is ok

*Tyrian enters and looks in the boots crate*

Tinpin... I'm going to take these Silver Slippers. I believe I had a credit of 99977 Trues. The tag here says the boots are 26520. Leaving me with 73457 credit, yes?

Oh and here is the full 10% for accounting purposes, 2652 Trues. Since Riven is away I'll just assume my 5% will come back when he has time to calculate out the split.

Bron huffs and puffs his way into the Twin Dragon and collapses in an oversized chair. A few minutes later, and a few ales later he stomped on into the Saddlebag and laid down a Boots of Vivacity and Bracers of the Scouts.

"Credit, laddo, credit!"

And Bron whirls and lumbers off, eyes steady on the door.

Hey all,
please forgive Riven's vanishing act! And right in the middle of working to uberfy the saddlebag pawn. RL hit me a right hook that dropped me on the ground. I'm beginning to stand now. Hopefully I'll be back in force soon enough, and we'll do the move and uberfying of the saddlebag in good time.
Enjoy,
~Mark

Saddlebag Pawn has Moved!

We are now located at 181 Haven.  This location is only temporary until we can get the final things to move to Port Hempstead fields, but in the meantime please come visit us in Haven.

Our prices are posted, but they are also can now be found in the store.  The prices can either be found on scrolls in the proper chest or written on the outside of the chest.  For example if a chest is labeled "Sage 57" Then the credit price or purchase price for that sage is 57 trues.

With that said, we are now taking CNR as well as normal pawn shop things.

Please keep in mind that we don't have room for lots of the same items, so please do not add an item to the chest if we already have two of that item.

Just either post on our logs if you do a transaction with us or send one of us a PM.  Just like before, drop 10% of your total transaction in the chest on your way out the door.

We look forward to seeing you at the new shop!

Thanks!

The Staff
Riven, Calylith, and Breanna

P.S. If you find that we are missing something that you would find useful to buy (meaning a chest for it to be placed), let me know and we'll get one.  ~~Caly
