For Sale: Mithril Half-plate. Plates can fit a man, or mayhaps a slender dwarf. Craftsmanship of unknown origin, but metal has been worked strangely.

What you describe is no mithril halfplate, but some sort of abomination most probably crafted by betrayer kin. Get rid of it as fast as you can, it does not bode well.
