About Mercurial Longsword

Hi.

I had this questions about some time ago, since I saw this weapon.

Is the mercurial long sword considered a Long sword at all ?

I mean I understand that as exotic weapon the apropiate "exotic weapon feat" must be taken in order to use it, but would all other feats afects it as a long sword ( weapon focus ( longsword ), Improved critical (longsword), weapon specialization (longsword), etc ) ?

No. This is a Custom Weapon, and as such there are no feats or anything else for it.

Well, you can take the feats, they simply won't work: [lore]Custom Weapons[/lore].

Actually...the Mercurial Longsword is classed as an Exotic Weapon...meaning you need the Exotic Weapon proficiency feat to use it. And all the other 'Exotic' proficiencies separately from the normal longsword.

And the only thing about it is that it is a +1 and adds 1 to your crit hit range...I think it's 18-20 instead of 19-20...not sure.

And it is a craftable...and I haven't seen any drop anywhere.

Thank you all for the answers I just forgot about the custom weapon rules for feats.

It's a sword that does Crit X4 /20 . just for clarification. Craftable indeed.

I would have just another question more regarding to faith issues.

the said mercurial sword would be seen as a long sword regarding Toranite faith ?

Since Long sword is Toran Favored weapon, I would like to know if there would be any issue if I choose the mercurlal for a Paladin or for a champion .

Alright, I'm in the same bind as Lance here. Wondering if there's a prohibition for paladins of toran to use that type of longsword, or since it's a longsword of sort, if it's considered alright to use it.

Non-official, but I really think that would fall to the individual. If you drained the reservoir, you'd theoretically have just a regular old longsword with a cavity inside. I'd think the character should see it as just an oddly-balanced longsword - a difference more like a silver coating or an enchantment (or maybe a spike on the end) than treating as an entirely different weapon.

thanks steph, that a good rp way of seeing the sword, although I'm wondering about the toran church stance on it. :)

Its fine for Toranites to use.

Just remember you cannot take the usual fighter feats with it ie specialisation. Its similar to a Maul or mercurial greatsword in that respect.

Alright, thanks for the clarification on the toranites stance. Something to think bout.
