Cloak of Watchers

Cloak of Watchers allows you to have one use of leap in the air; however, I was wondering the limitation of the leap?

In game wise:

* How far? Distance?
* How high?

I know mechanically, it can only be use in the same map area. Let's say if a dragon is flying by and hovering above me, can I use the cloak to leap into the air and hop on the dragon's back?

Sorry, when we chatted in game about this subject I forgot about this tread :(

http://forums.layonara.com/ask-gamemaster/211842-how-far-can-one-fly-cloak-watchers.html

30 to 50 meters and it is not flight but a magically assisted long jump.

Still that opens a lot of possibilities but from the tone of the above thread I would say success with any of those possibilities (such as landing on a dragon or using the magic jump to strike something in the air) would be slim to none with a heavy lean to none.

I like to keep one on my character just for the take to the air ability. I have used it on a few mountain climbing quests already. It really pays off when you are running away from or chasing a big baddy and you need to get over and obstacle and using a rope would take too long.

I field tested one of the cloaks recently by that re-route past the Kuhl border guard area.  There's a jump there (with the twirling butterfly things).  I was able to click on the other side of the jump, on a piece of ground that without the cloak would have not been "clickable" (you get that "annt" noice).  Worked perfect; jumped over the crevace and landed in that exact spot.

//edit: I think the jump was 60-80 meters as depicted in game

Rope? is there a new rope item? I played on a server that had a rope item that could be used to climb up or own a vert place. Very cool to have. Anyway that was off subject.

60 to 80 meters? that is quite far. I wonder what the mechanical limit is. Looks like testing time LOL

The mechanical limit is as far as the game lets you click within an area, I believe.

And no, there's no rope item. I think he was drawing an RP parallel for use on quests, not stating a mechanical one.

So the length could be upwards of 100 meters plus. But what is the height limit?

There is no "height" in NWN. It's a 2D game masquerading as a 3D game.

Again, if you can click it, it should jump there. That said, the game won't always let you click/target very far away.  So 100m+ is not necessarily accurate.

For RP use what would the height limit be. Say a PC is at the bottom of a high mountain how far up the mountain will a jump take him? Davidhoff's test resulted in 250 feet or so.

So for RP use
What is the height limit?
How instantaneous is it to use?

Has anyone tested if using one will take you out of invisi? Does it work while you are in GS?

For RP use, I'd leave it up to the GM who is supervising the RP to determine its limits. I'm not going to give a specific number so PCs can hit GMs with numbers.

It's a "standard action" to use, so it consumes one round to activate. Consider that you have to activate it and then jump, and that takes time. If it becomes a race between you and the Big Bad Whatever standing right in front of you, then I'm sure the GM will have you roll initiative to see who gets to go first.

It should not take you out of Invisibility, at least not mechanically.  Should it? Debatable.

Do not get me started on G.Sanc. though. You won't like it.

I think and its a valid question .. what would be the height of the jump Rp wise that the cloak can achieve.

That would be useful information, I as MJ llke to carry at least one of this cloaks amoung my char belongings.
