The everyday life of a cleric

First off I'd like to say that I've haven't read EVERYTHING in the lore sections (but I did read all I was able to find about this subject) so there might be something elsewhere that answers my questions. If so, then please direct me to it. Thanks.

Now to the actual question: What is expected from a cleric? I don't mean in the general picture, I mean down to the details: Are there examples of prayers, any official or frequently used ones or do you just have to make that up as you go? Are there certain rituals, rites, blessings or such that a cleric of Toran (as my character is) would be expected to perform? I'll probably be able to get by RPing a cleric but some answers to some of these questions would make it a great deal easier.

One you get your character approved, you'll be able to join the forum for followers of Toran.see instructions here: http://forums.layonara.com/deities-general-information/114274-deity-forum-join-requests-new-protocol.html#post857952 While I can't vouch for the specific content, not playing a Toranite, you'll probably find some help with ideas for prayers and rituals. Most characters just make up their own prayers to deities, but with a god like Toran, it does make sense that there might be some specific prayers, or specific forms of prayer that are used. But you certainly won't be called out or anything for saying a "wrong" prayer to Toran, or anything like that :)

Getting access to your deity specific forum typically helps some, but there are some expectations of Clerics we have here. If you have not yet, you might look over this chart and possibly do a precursory looking over of your Deity's Allies and Enemies, just to get a certain feel for how your reacts/feels about these followers. We take our relations pretty seriously, and that can offer more of a challenge then some of the concerns you have listed.

As well if there is something in particular that you find missing, the deity specific forums are a great place to offer and suggest ideas.

A legend would greatly help with that chart.

There is a legend. Mouseover one of the colours.

It does work on Firefox - it's just alt text.  If you've disabled your tooltips, it might not, but I've never had a problem with it.

Now, to unhijack the thread:

Toran's really one of those "pinnacle of goodness and light" deities.  He's not above righteous anger, certainly, but He's also the kind to frown upon those not doing their best to help the helpless, defend the defenseless, and so forth.

His followers are allowed a bit more leeway, but a character raised in a Toranite temple would likely be pretty firmly indoctrinated into the doctrines of the faith.

As Row said, though, getting to know His allies and enemies might also give you some insight into His character.  (Except the Lucinda one.  That one's kinda out of left field.  There's a good reason for it, but that cannot, at this time, be disclosed.)

Thanks for the advice. I request membership a couple of days ago and I'm still waiting for a reply. I had also looked at the chart and I do plan to keep it around as I can't possibly memorize all of it. I also read some of the thread regarding RPing the relations of the deities, so I feel pretty much good to go on that side of things (which is why I didn't ask).

Anyway, thanks again for the help guys.

This question might not belong in here, but I didn't wanna start a new thread just for one question.

Would I need to submit a request in order to have my character's domains changed from Protection and War to Good and War? I haven't created the character yet in game but he is approved, so it's really just a question of whether or not I need approval and if/how the DMs should be made aware of it.

Thanks in advance,
Mr. Erth
