getting stuck in the Hallowlight Forest transition
« on: September 07, 2009, 03:05:52 am »
When I attempted to leave Wayfare and head into the forest, I am not able to make it through the transition.  The screen sits on the loading screen and then freezes about two thirds of the way.

This is the second time, I am guessing that there was a server reset after my first time that took me back into Wayfare when I logged in.

Any thoughts?

Could be that Talia is just too old and should get a cart and a guide since she can't find her way through the trees....but seriously wondering if I'm having a tileset issue or something..

Try turning down all your graphic options to the minimum settings, and make sure shiney water is also turned off.  You may have to access the video options before logging into the server to do this if you are experiencing an 'endless crash loop'.

If doing that alone doesn't get you out of the crashes, you may also to update your video drivers for your video card as well.

Logged in to find myself back in Wayfare...and not going back into the forest anytime soon.

Alright..so silly me.

I ran right into the forest transition and am stuck again...

All my options are turned to the lowest they are able to function at and still no luck.

Any other thoughts?

That's very odd.  Hallowlight forest, I believe, is one of the older, if not original, tilesets.  Were it in Battlehelm or Black Dog Moors I wouldn't be terribly surprised.

I wonder what would happen if Talia went by way of Leringard and came through from the opposite side...

How long did you wait last time it was stuck at two thirds?

Only program that was running was a messenger program one of the times.  But I've never had any issues running in linux before.

I waited until I received no response and had to kill the program.  I will try it from the other way though.  I had thought it was an old tile set as well and have not had promblems in the past with it.

Well, if all else fails, I'll just redownload the haks and reinstall...besides it'll give me something to do while I am not able to play.

Thanks!

Well, redownloaded the haks and put back where they belong.  Still nothing...*sighs*

just went through hallowlight from wayfare, not a problem at all at a 62 ping to the server with 2 gig of mem in my 1.73 ghz laptop

when you log in see what the ping is and that might help the others figure the trouble

After being frustrated for much of the weekend, I finally had to try out windows to see if that was any better.  So I downloaded the haks, since I typically boycott much of microsoft I hadn't done so in a very long time.

And lo and behold, it worked....Talia is free!  But I guess this means either I play in linux and never see the forest again or *grumbles* play in windows. I think windows will win out...but only for now!

Thanks!
