What is a lantern archon good for?

Not complaining about my new Aeridin summons, I really do like them.  But does anybody know how to use and/or RP this little glowing light thingy?  Is it of any value other than as a self-propelled flashlight?

The lantern archon is relatively weak in terms of its ability to take damage, however, it has a special attack that can make up for its lack of toughness.

Lantern Archons are good for lighting dark alley's, scaring away cockroaches, and evicerating kobolds, but keep them away from gnomes...  I hear they recently started making Archon Laterns....  *waits for the booing to being*
