« on: March 02, 2008, 05:11:32 pm »
I was trying to calculate what shoudl be the will of Rain cause he seems a bit low, but with the information I have its even more  conflicting.

He's level 20 (range 6 wiz 9 arcane archer 5)
wisidome of 17.

what is the will check modifier that he should have?

Rains base will should be +9 with a +3 from wisdom making it a total of +12 without any other items on

thank you. Just as a reference, what's the exact calculation you used?

Edit 17 is with his belt, but doesn't matter, he almost never takes it off.. well exception of his baths sleeping etc :D

Wizard level 9, have will as high save, thats +6
AA level 5, have will as low save, thats +1
Ranger level 6 have will as low save, thats +2

HoTU manual page 56 and page 60

But also most Will saves are for some type of spell, and then you can happily add another +1 for each 5 ranks in spellcraft.

just be aware of that your + from spellcraft will not be added to your character sheet and can only been seen in your combat log, and secondly that not all spells allows the use of the bonus

Worth noting that cross classes will always have higher total saves than pure classes *shrugs* just in case people were wondering, this comes from the 2 you get for a strong save at level 1.

Well... not always... multiclass characters will have higher saves than either class alone, if both/all classes have the same save as their high save.

If you have two classes where they both have the same low save, at level 20 it will be the same as if you had only one of the classes. (at levels less than twenty, it may be lower than one class alone, depending on your level split)

On the other hand, a 5/5/10 ranger/rogue/fighter, (all of which has a low will save), for instance, will have a will save of +5, instead of the +6 one of the classes would get alone.

Also, on a totally unrelated note, it bears mentioning, that Rain, you are half elf, so you get a +2 bonus vs. mind affecting spells, most of which are will saves.
