He doesn't actually intend to leave to leave his position as a guard. His parents would disapprove, though they support him in his decisions. They would be very disappointed in his decision to become an adventurer. He doesn't want to be an adventurer.
If the story requires him to leave the area immediately around Center, he might. He lives to protect Center, but also the general idea of a safe land for the commonest of common folk. Assuming they obey the rules.
He wishes to be not merely a good guard, but the best. Other men pursue gold, fame and fortune. All he strives for is protection of the innocent, and invisible, common people of Center. And he'll kill for the status quo.
// This is a meditation on extreme Lawful Neutral. It's an excuse to explore the land without the 10 death penalty applying. He's Central Casting; a pug nosed, Lawful Neutral zealot.
